Movie dimensions, blog vs podcast?

I want to create of video podcasts series.
I create a podcast, drop a 16x9 movie on the entry page. It's 16x9.
I change to the podcast (list) page and it's square.
Can't fix it because you can't edit this page, only the enty page which is the right size.
I create a blog, drop a 16x9 movie on the entry page. It's 16x9.
I change to the blog (list) page and it's 16x9, the right size.
Is this a feature, a bug or "by design" ?
I'm using the blog page, but it iritates me that iWeb adds the uneditable "read more..." to the text as the link, where the podcast page adds "listen..." which is slightly more accurate. "view..." would be better, but you can't edit.
Thanks,
Art

Art...
it's my understanding that the 4x3 settings are determined by that fact that the podcasts are available to be uploaded on iTunes. I did a quick check on the ITMS and didn't find any 16x9 videos there, and also I checked the quicktime video podcast page found here
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/tutorials/videopodcasts.html
at the bottom of the page is a short paragraph about specs for podcasts.
I've seen some discussion in the podcasting forum about changing the "read more" to "view"... but couldn't find a reference to it tonight.
sorry.. wish I could be more help.

  • TS1717 i was wonering why is it when i restord my iphone5 from my laptop now when i try to play my music and movie a blog pops up saying (the requested URL was not found on this server)?

I was wondering why when i restored my iphoe5 from my laptop now when I try to play my music and movies a blog pops up saying (the requested URL was not found on this server)?

The problem resolved itself when I resynced the iPod with my computer. I suspect the error displayed when I tried syncing with my laptop and canceled out of it.

  • How can I add a "search" field for web pages content-not blogs or podcasts?

This seems to be such a basic function, I can't believe I'm having so much trouble. I don't have a blog or a podcast on my new website that I'm in the process of designing. So how do I allow people who'll visit my site to search there for specified content? The only instructions I find are for the RSS in inspector for blogs or podcasts. All I want is for people to be able to search my site/web pages (that have no blogs or podcasts on them). This must be a common request... or am I crazy? How do I do that?
    Thanks for your help.

I think I've answered my own question after a few hours of searching:
    http://services.google.com/searchcode2.html?accept=on
    Thank you Google.

  • RSS XML Files for a Blog and Podcast on Same Website With iTunes Feed

Does iWeb support both a separate blog and podcast on the same website feeding the Podcast to iTunes? I got my podcast going on iTunes, then it stopped working after I changed the iTunes podcast name in iWeb and didn't edit the xml file. My podcast is gone on iTunes and I can't get the xml files correct for the blog or the podcast. I'm submitting the correct URL to iTunes but iTunes continues generarting 404 errors.

No answers. Will re-post more clearly

  • Move a blog to another domain name

How can I easily move an existing blog with its current and archived entries to a different site/domain name?
I have an existing family iWeb site with an embedded blog. Since viewship has grown beyond the original intended audience, I want to move the blog to its own domain name for privacy reasons.
Also, I am a .Mac family pack user. I use domain maksing to inhibit the appearance of the native URL's. The blog entries contain a number of links to previous blog entries.
I thought about the following steps but thought it wise to solicit advise first!
    1. Create a new id using our .Mac family pack.
    2. Copy the existing Domain file.
    3. Delete all the non-blog entries within the copied file.
    4. Publish the copied file to the new id.
This seems to simple to be true, which I why I thought it wise to ask for advice before trying!
    Thanks

    Doug...
Your steps sound pretty much on key. The only other thing that you might want to consider is creating another user account on your computer to use your separate .Mac ID. Then just copy the Domain over and delete the non-blog stuff like you said. The separate user account would make it so that you wouldn't have to manually change the .Mac info in System Preferences...just log in and log out.

  • AppleTV in itunes missing movies/tv shows/music/podcasts tabs

A friend's AppleTV only shows two tabs when in itunes: settings and photos.
My AppleTV (1st gen) shows all the usual tabs (settings/movies/tv shows/music/podcasts) and my settings tab has a Sync box where I can set my sync settings - my friends does not. All he has in his settings tab is the top box which states the name, capacity, software version and serial number.
He's using iTunes10 and his AppleTv (gen1) is on version 3.0.2
Any idea why he can't see what I can with mine? Any suggestions? His AppleTV shows up in iTunes fine, and is connected to the internet.

was your imac running OSX 10.5x, and is the new mac pro running OSX 10.6x? I wonder if the first generation of AppleTVs isn't properly snow leopard compatible? My friend's imac that he's got his AppleTV connected to is running Snow Leopard (my AppleTV is connected to an old G5 running 10.5x and as I say, it works perfectly)....hmmmmm

  • Can I add a Comments box to a non-Blog or Podcast page?

I want to create a website that allows friends and family to add comments. Do I have to use a Blog or Podcast format or can I create a Blank page that will allow comments? Are there any other applications besides iWeb that will allow me to do this if iWeb won't?
    Thanks for any help.
    Sunil

The answer will most likely depend on what Software release and OS you using and where the Open Dialog is being opened from. For example Windows 7 Pro Photoshop CC menu File>Open the open dialog has a search area looks like a standard Windows 7 Open dialog. CS6 Does not have a search.

  • Movie dimensions and duration on an Airport drive

I have many movies in mp4 or m4v format.
On my internal drive, the Finder indicates movie dimensions and duration.
I had an Airport drive on which the Finder indicated these values. It crashed, and I bought the same one.
Now, on the new one, dimensions and duration are not longer shown...
    I don't understand why!

I tried many things this afternoon.
First, connect my network drive directly on my USB port. the .Spotlight directory has been rebuild very quickly, and I was able to search items and view information.
Then I reconnect it on my Airport Extreme. Dimensions disappeared.
I have "Ratatouille.m4v" on my Airport drive. I deactivated the index (mdutil -i off /Volumes/krypton), open a finder window and typed "rat". The movie was found. With the window still opened, I reactivated the index. Instantly the movie disappeared from the finder.
I've noticed another thing. First I thought it was only on movies, but it turns out that even JPEG dimensions are not available. And that's ********. It's really simple to show that kind of information, so why not? Cmd+i on a JPEG file or any media file from my network drive shows nothing! Even Windows can do that!
    Anyway. It's a bit frustrating.
The only difference between my former network drive and the new one, is that I've bought the first one during late Tiger era.
And maybe Tiger did something on the drive Snow can't.

  • Movie Dimensions

In iMovie 08, who (or what) decides the movie dimensions?
Sorry if this is a really dumb question.

When you import video, it will be imported in the same dimensions as the source, and it will stay that way.
When you start a project, you will be able to set the dimensions.
The EVENT files contain what you imported. You drag the parts that you want to a PROJECT to create a movie. The Project does not duplicate the stuff that is in the event. It just has pointers back to the Event files to get what it needs.

  • Viewing new comments on blogs and podcasts

    Hello,
So, I open up iweb and the symbol with the number pops up on the iweb icon(which from what I've gathered is the "new comments"). Is there a way to just check the new comments, or do I have to go through my site and find them one by one. I allow comments on my pictures(as well as my blog and podcast) and I have a lot of pictures, so going through one by one to find comments doesn't seem to make much sense because it would take forever.
    Thanks for the help.
    Jimmy

I just spent a lot of time trying to figure this out myself, but I finally did.
In iWeb, look to the left side of the page names in the left hand column. You will see a blue dot next to any page with new comments somewhere within. If the comment is for a blog entry, the blue dot will be next to the main blog page. Click on "entries" under that and look for the blue dot to the left of the blog entry titles.
If the comment is on a photo, there will be a little comment icon on all photos where comments have been left. The icon is hard to see and there's no apparent way to tell which photo might have new comments that I can see, bu it's there. The icon is a little white bubble in the bottom right hand corner of the photo -- it's a bit hard to see.

  • Adding RSS feeds to pages other than blogs or podcasts

Has anyone worked out how to do it? I finally worked out what RSS actually is but then found iWeb itself only lets you add RSS buttons to blogs and podcasts. Has anyone discovered a work-around?
    Thanks,
    Simon
    MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Simon - pages that iWeb defaults to (blogs and podcasts) are the pages that have "update-able" content. iWeb currently wont allow you to put it on a page that isn't set up that way.
I've tried to get it done on my pages, but to know avail yet. the best I've been able to come up with is that the program will give you the opportunity to "announce" your site when you publish a new page. If you create a group in mac mail, you can quickly announce an update that way.
not as sexy I know, but it gets the job done...

  • Would you buy a theme without blog or podcast pages?

Folks, I'm doing a survey here. I don't know how many of you follow the custom iWeb theme conversations, but I've found a way now to make complicated iWeb themes for 2.0 at a pretty fast rate. The only problem is, the method for doing it does not work for blog or podcast pages. I can make simpler themes with blog and podcast pages, but complex layouts can't be done without shear torture.
So my question to you is this, would you be interested in a great theme that didn't have those pages? How many of you need blog/podcast pages? I'm just trying to see if a template without them would fly. In stead of those two pages, I'd provide two additional page layouts... like an online store layout and a product detail page.
    Thoughts?

Ah, well that was an enthusiastic yes. What kind of sites do you build where this might be a nice option?

  • .mov dimensions

i am trying to create .mov file from imovieHD. under share, if i choose quicktime, full quality, it gives me a dv extension, and the movie dimensions are the same size. however, i am trying to share this with the windows format and give it to someone who has trouble reading .dv. i choose quicktime, cd quality, and although i get the .mov format, the dimensions for the movie are smaller. is there anyway i can create a .mov file that are the same dimentions as my movie in imovie???
    thanks!
    amy

Windows can read Full Quality .dv files with QT for Win installed.
Another option is to export as DV-encoded full resolution AVI but you should pay attention to interlacing which iMovie HD loses when exporting via the expert settings. There are some workarounds for this. I don't know what audio codec the Win apps expect.
But those kinds of full quality DV output files are BIG. How are you going to transfer them??
The most foolproof way is to export from the Mac to a DV/D8 tape and import it on the Win box.
