Movieclip buttons actionscript errors

Hi,
I have tried using this type of button for the first time and
also ActionScript.
I have made a movie clip with _up and _over states and it
works.
But the onRelease is doing two strange things.
Firstly, If I click on a button it will go to the page, say
"Home" but when I click on it again it will make the movieclip for
the page disapper.
I then have to click again to get it back.
Secondly, I am trying to make the buttons work with the
rollOver when another button is clicked, a button other than the
one used to show the current page.
I have it kind of working but its not now I want it.

For this line of code:
if (_root.mcHome != "_on")
You appear to be trying to use what is a frame label as a
value compare to the movieclip instance... they will never equate.
One is an object and the other is...??? a label.
You probably need to set a boolean variable to true/false as
needed and compare that...
So when you do whatever makes mcHome goto the _on location,
at that location you would set the variable to be true...
mcHomeOn = true;
Then you could test that value...
if(mcHomeOn)...

MovieClip buttons inside a MovieClip button inside another MovieClip button

I am trying to make a Portfolio of my study abroad experience and can get something right about the movie clip buttons inside each other. I have a button to click on titled "travel" and a window shows up with more movieclip buttons to organize different locations of pictures. I can click on the button to have to slide of pictures but nothing happens. I have the "turnOffAllButtons" coding and also have the coding for stay clicked, but I can't get the 3rd set to show up. what am i not doing?
I don't have any errors or output comments showing up

I have it working now. what I did, I make a slideshow setup (gotoAndStop(1);) in a specific frame and the code I put in for the next, didnt work.

Movieclip button in movieclip?

i have put the attached code in a frame, that's in a
movieclip. gotei13_thumbnail is a movieclip, that's in the same
movieclip as the script.
why does this not work?
if i copy the script to a frame on the main timeline, and
copy gotei13_thumbnail to the main timeline, it works just fine.
i'm guessing there's some more script i have to add?
please help me, asap. thank you.

Hi, I'm creating an Adobe Air Application.

How is the data returned formatted, as XML? If so is it well formatted? Perhaps you need to use the HTTPService resultFormat property, setting it to e4x for XML return data or to something else if the data returned is not XML.

OpenScript ActionScript Error from Adobe Flash Player 9

I get a popup ActionScript Error from Adobe Flash Player 9 when trying to record a Flex Tree object using OpenScript 9.2.1.0 Production. Specifically, I click on the Triangle that opens/closes the view of the child nodes underneath the parent node of a Tree. Initially, the triangle arrow already pointing down and the child node is already showing. When I click on the triangle, the node underneath goes up and disappears under its parent node and the traingle is then pointing to the parent node.
When I click this triangle in Firefox without OpenScript recording, I don't get any errors, popups, or issues. It seems to work correctly. During OpenScript recording, the recording seems to crash with a popup that is titled "Adobe Flash Player 9" and has the text "An ActionScript error has occurred" with the following error message:

I can click "Dismiss All" from the Adobe popup and Firefox isn't affected. Openscript doesn't appear to have any issues and the recording can be continued or stopped. I am using OATS 9.2.1.0 with Firefox 3.6.17. I am testing a Flex 3.3 SDK built application. I installed the Adobe Flash Player 9 that came with the Flex SDK 3.3 before installing OATS.
Any help on this issue is greatly appreciated.

Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not. I've tried using "Select Tree", "Select List", and "Click Tree" and each one is inconsistent on playback. It will report "Target Not Found".

Movieclip button AS 2.0 help

I have a movieclip button with up-over and out states
plays fine but in the over state I need to have two more buttons
1 button for each icon
I need to make the hit state in one area with room for two I would guess invisible hit state only buttonds on top of the icons?
how do I get two separate working buttons in there?
any help?

OK, after looking around I see what I need to do is have Nested Movieclips in a drop down menu.

I think I may have been unclear in what I need to do but when you open the fla you see that the movieclip in the over state needs to have two separate buttons (or movieclips) acting as buttons so I can go to another frame. the mc/buttons shpuld have the hit states or target the two icons.
I have tried everything as I did see some things for AS 3.0 but not for 2.0

Error 2007 Some Actionscript error has occured

I have tried the converter on a couple of modules that I have been working. I have actually tried it on two differnet machines to make sure there wasn't something machine specific. I am getting Error 2007 - Seom Actionscript error has occured. Has anyone seen this? Any idea what is casuing it?
I have just begun my exploration of the converted and this is my first couple of attempts so I could be doing somethign really obvious.
This is a very basic simuation module with not much more than captions and click boxes.

I've installed twice and always run as admin but same issue. If you hear anything else please let me know.

Changing stage timeline from inside a movieclip button

I create a movieclip button, and I want to change main timeline from it. what should I do ?
Is it useful to use MovieClip(root).gotoAndPlay(...) ; ?
Is there any other way to change main timeline?

Example:
Add something to trigger the event in the child:
dispatchEvent(new Event("eventTriggered"));
In your parent swf, listen for the event using a listener for the child with a corresponding event handler...
childName.addEventListener("eventTriggered", eventHandler).

Linking a MovieClip button to a URL?

Hello all,
I have recently followed a Adobe Flash tutorial, which has helped me make MovieClip buttons which extend to the left when hovered over.
This tutorial can be found here:

Everything on the tutorial went fine, but now I am trying to work out how to make these MovieClip buttons link to another URL.
What code do I need to do this, and where do I need to put it?

Converting AS3 to AS2. Some movieclip buttons not working.

25 movieclip buttons in frame 126 maintimeline. Buttons are on top layer above all other content.
Buttons 1_1, 2_1, 3_1, 4_1, and 5_1 work. All buttons have correct instance name. The buttons are in a 5x5 grid. Hence the naming convention of column_row. So all row 1 buttons are working. Do not get hand cursor over any of the other buttons. This is totally baffling. I am using Flash CS4. The file is saved as CS3 and the publish settings are AS2, Flash player 8.

As for why movng the buttons to another layer fixed anything, it will not have mattered. Whatever fixed the problem will remain a mystery. It could have been an issue with instance names/frames since you are at frame 126 for some reason. If you transition the buttons into place, that might be related to what the problem was.

ActionScript Errors From Updating to New Version of Adobe Flash Player

I updated my flash player now I'm getting Actionscript errors i thought it was just web cam video related but i get more when i go to youtube that eventually make my computer freeze this box pops up with no options but dismiss all or continue that keeps popping backup heres one example adobe better be able to fix this

I looked through many sites and have not found anything that tells how to fix this stuff I need a straight step by step answer adobe should have a patch made for this kind of thing i have windows xp sp3 with and i use firefox i think i had this problem years ago but can't remember how i fixed it i was going to get help from customer service support but they made me do this instead what ever helps....Thanks in advance

From where did you download that update? Did you download the content debugger instead of the standard player?

Adobe Flash Player 10 ActionScript Error

Lately I've been getting an error on Adobe that's stalling my AIM from working. It pops up as an actionscript error with the following;

Is there anything I can do about this? It gives me the options to Dismiss All, Continue, or close the window. It only seems to be affecting AIM. I've tried reinstalling but that didn't fix anything.

Flash CS5.5 crashes when exporting movieclip for Actionscript

Hello,
My Flash CS5.5 crashes when exporting movieclip for Actionscript (select movieclips -> modify -> convert to symbol -> check export for actionscript). I think this only happens when Photoshop CS5 is open.
Does anyone know how to fix this? I'm using Win7 64-bit. The only open programs are Flash, Photoshop, and Firefox.

Oddly enough, I opened up Flash again, today, just to see if it was still the same, and it had worked. Everything seemed normal, I opened a new document and started working. Then, out of nowhere it stopped responding again. So I waited for it to respond, it didn't. I closed it from the task manager, and now it's back to the original problem of crashing when I try to create a new document or open an old ontrie
Update: I tried the cleaner, as you'd suggested. Followed all the steps, but to no avail. Think it may have something to do with my machine, and less with the software?

Help please? Static audio, Crashes, ActionScript Errors and more issues with Flash Player 16

So, this is the first time I'm posting in here and I'm sorry if I mess up or smth.
Anyway, this is what happened:
- Firefox tells me Flash Player 15 is vulnerable
- I update to the newest version
- After the update I run into several things that are highly annoying.
First of all:
- I can't watch any livestreams anymore, neither on picarto nor on twitch. The video keeps loading and buffering, then works for a second or two and then goes back to buffering OR alternatively the video would stop whilst the sound continues or vice versa. (My wifi connection is super fast and I never had any problems until the update)
- On youtube videos only load for a second or two, then the audio vanishes and the video crashes. (Never had that issue before, EVER)
- The audio is incredibly wonky, aka, depending on the bass or sounds I hear static noises and weird sounds. (This only happens on videos that require flash, the sound is fine when playing CDs )
- When watching videos and pausing it or going back a few seconds to rewatch something, the audio suddenly is completely gone.
- Flash player crashes A LOT
EDIT: Another Issue appeared:
- When watchign videos using the Blip player (used by some websites) I get ActionScript errors which then result in crashes

What I've tried to do:
- revert back to an older version of Flash (but it kept telling me to update so I gave up on it)
- Try to enable "hardware accelaration" BUT, when right clicking on the Flash Symbol on Adobe's site FF freezes and tells me that Flash player crashed
- Found out that I already have hardware accelaration enabled and it still keeps crashing
- I deleted all of its local cache
- downloaded and installed the debug version
But none of it helped in the slightest.
I really hope someone can help me fix this OR that adobe soon comes with a patch/update that fixes all these things ;_____;
