Moving an image on a different layer moves other objects in another layer?

I've got two layers (this happens with only one layer as well). In the first layer I've got an image, some rectangles, and a couple of text boxes. In layer 2 I've only got one image. When I move the image up or down Muse also moves some of the objects in layer 1. How can I prevent this from happening? It's resizing or moving them all out of wack.

Kindly lock the layer that you are not currently working on, before making edits or moving content in the other layers. (In this case, lock layer 1 before moving objects in layer 2)
Locking will ensure that you do not accidentally select and edit the objects/layers.

There is a technical problem between apples updates and Adobe creative suite. There is no official one solution, and Adobe has been aware of this problem for a few months now. The problem is that modifier keys are doing the opposite or being held down always.

If you are on 10.6.5, you might as well update to 10.6.6 before anything. Try this utility. The name is scary because of hack, but is is safe and made by and Adobe employee Jesper Bache.

Also try updating firefox, and disabling dropbox if using that.

Moving catalog/images to a different internal drive in PSE 5?

How do I move photos from the primary drive (and have new photos loaded into the computer to go to this new catalog) to an ATA drive in the same computer. I know how to back up the catalog, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to effectively change the destination so it knows to "look" on the ATA drive from this point forward for the catalog and automatically route any new photos there. Hopefully, somebody can guide me through this or direct me to a resource so I can get the PC back up to speed?

You move the photos with PSE commands. Use Folder Location View (Ctrl-Alt-3) and drag folders to the new drive.
Do not move the photos in Windows.
If you are asking about future photos, it depends on how you get them into the Organizer in the first place. If you use the Adobe Photo Downloader, there is an option in there that you can change that will point to your new drive. If you are importing from the File->Get Photos... command, then all you have to do is put your photos on the new drive, and import from there.

Move SCCM client to another OU at the end of the deployment task sequence

I'm looking to modify my SCCM task sequence so that it can put a computer in the correct OU at the end of provisioning. I've come across a couple of scripts to do this, but neither are working at the moment

With the above command, I keep on receiving a syntax error and/or invalid OU error. My specified OU is valid and I'm using an account with sufficient permissions to move computers in AD. I also find the syntax with the "\" difficult to follow.

How come, that the shadow of an object on one layer effects the view of an image, that is on a different layer

one layer has a shadow - on a second layer I have my image - how come, that the image-view is effected by the shadow of an object of a different layer? is this only a view-effect or does this effects the prints as well? if so, how can I change it?

Basic rule is that transparent object affects other objects behind it. So if you bring some object to front of transparent object (or upper layer), transparency flatteners doesn´t flatten it during transparency flattening. There are some exceptions to that rule, but I almost categorize those as bugs...
Use Window>Output>Flattener Preview panel to see which objects are affected...
If you export PDF, it makes a difference if you use PDF1.3 as compatibility. Using that PDF-version triggers Transparency Flattener and resulting PDF has no live transparency. All the other compatibility options preserve live transparencies....

I'm pretty sure the IPTC data gets completely consumed inside an Adobe
PDF file, even if the original images have this metadata or extended
data (XMP) information. In other words, they do not make it through.
Try downloading a copy of Enfocus Pitstop - I know you can link to an
original authoring document (InDesign/Quark) through the CertifiedPDF
route but you cannot display the image name?

RE: moving a layer mask to a different layer.

Is there a way to move a layer mask from one adjustment layer to another adjustment layer (within the same file), without removing the mask from its original layer? (I can move a mask to a different layer by clicking and dragging the thumbnail, but the mask then disappears from its layer of origin). I'm using Ps CS5 on Windows XP.

how do u create an image sequence with different durations? image one stays for 10 seconds and image two may stay for 30 and so on. each one has a custom duration. can this be done with an apple script or a text file saved as an mov file?

The example code Programmatic Printing of TestStand Reports - Modular contains a sequence that will convert an XML file to an HTML file given the XML file's path and the path to the stylesheet. It may need to be altered to fit with the modifications you have already made to the report generation routines, but I think it should definitely get you off on the right foot. Is it Possible to move the Dropdown Menu to a different layer than the rest of the menu?

For design reasons I want the dropdown part of my menu to appear as though it is coming out from underneath the banner of the menu. The best way I can figure to do that is to have the dropdown part of the menu (that occurs on rollover) be placed on a separate layer from the main banner menu. Is this possible? I have tried unlocking everything and moving that part to another layer and haven't been successful. Please help this gal out! Thank you!

I'm still confused as to how I can do this exactly. I have used the tool tip widget to create my own drop down menus. However, I cannot put the trigger point into a different layer than the layer with the drop down menu. How can I make the actual word "accommodations" into the trigger point for this menu? I tried moving the trigger point from the widget over the Accommodations, but in order for the drop down to come out from under the banner, the trigger is under it as well. I've also tried ungrouping them, but I am not successful. Please give me further detail as to how this works!

Moving an image does not work correctly

I have Photoshop CS4, version 11.0.2, installed on a 64-bit Windows 7 system. I am attempting to complete an exercise which requires me to move one image on top of another. I do not recevie an error messge. The function simply fails.
All software is up to date. I have 4 gigs of RAM. Lots of free disk space. My video card is an Nvidia GTX 460 (1 gig).
I have the two images open side by side. I select the move tool. I click and attempt to drag one image on top of theother. Rather than moving on top of the otehr image, the selected image moves behind the other image. That is, the selected half of the window moves behind the other half of the window.
The exercise calls for holding down the shift key when I do the move. If I hold down the shift key, the two images move right or left in tandem. That is, they simlutaneously slide to the dege of their window and stop.
It feels like I have something set wrong somewhere.

Usually when moving layers between images, one would use the move tool
(click on the image in the document window and drag to the other document)
and hold the shift key down if you want the layer pin registered (aligned and
the images are of the same dimensions) and if the images are of different
dimensions, holding down the shift key centers the new layer.

Problem In moving 1 image from 1 panel to next and maintain size of original image?

Why is it when i drag one image from the bottom panel over to another picture(solid color) i will only get 50% of the image and not the full image. Same thing when i copy and paste that image over the gray solid colored image also i will get only 50% of the image. The original image of the cat(full view) is about 24.79% and picture is 11.733 x 15.644 in size. the other image (solid color) is at 43.63% or 6.667 x 8.889". size is in inches. Do i have to resize the images and if so how as i am a stupie in this matter. The images are aligned side by side on the main panel or display.I am trying to place the cat over the gray background image and with a layer mask delete the present baackground of the cat to uncover the gray of the bottom layer. Probably the resolution of each image has a different value. You can check this in Image>resize>image size. The resolution is expressed in px/in.
If you are attempting to place the cat on a plain gray background, try this:
Set your foreground color chip (lower left) to the shade of gray desired
Open the picture with the cat
Using one of the selection tools (e.g. Selection brush, lasso), select the cat
Place the cat on a separate layer (Layer>new>layer via copy)
Place a blank layer between the background layer and the cat layer
Fill the blank layer with gray ( Edit>fill layer>foreground color)
Use the move tool to position the cat, and resize, if necessary, with the corner handles of the bounding box.

Moving Master Images after Facebook Upload

I'm using a fully updated version of Aperture 3 and ran into a problem today moving master images that I have not experienced before. My normal workflow is to batch import images from my camera every few days in one large import, so I often have multiple subjects in every batch. For my 9 months with the program I have always downloaded everything into a temporary holding project I literally call "Hold". When I get the time to do a detailed review, I then delete what I don't want and move (drag) the master images I want to keep from "Hold" into other subject-matter-unique projects across the library. This works for me and has worked flawlessly until today when I downloaded about 20 images. What I did differently today was I took things out of my usual order and decided to quickly upload 3 of the images from the "Hold" folder to Facebook using the Aperture Uploader. The upload went fine, as it has in the past, but the problem surfaced when I then tried to move all the master images out of "Hold" to my permanent library file (project) structure. The 17 images (which were not uploaded to Facebook) moved out to their new projects just fine, as always, but the 3 masters which were the source for the Facebook upload will not allow themselves to be moved out of "Hold". When I drag them to the intended project, Aperture copies them into that project, but the original stays in "Hold." Of course, if I try to then delete what is in "Hold" (with a copy safely filed away elsewhere in the Library) I get the warning that I am attempting to delete a master upon which other versions are dependent (to include "Facebook albums" it says), and all will be deleted.
My take on this is the Facebook upload from "Hold", and the resulting versions created in the Facebook album (far bottom entries on the Library listing), now make "Hold" a permanent home for those associated master images. Is there some way to get around this and actually move the master images to where I want them to be AND to de-clutter the "Hold" folder? Or does this mean any use of Aperture's very handy (at least to date) Facebook uploader permanently glues a master to whatever project it was in when it was uploaded, never to fully and completely move again? Thanks.

I just made a test of this, and can confirm the apparent behavior. However, I examined the Masters folder in the Package of the Library (and I have a Managed Library) and I believe there may be some referencing between Projects taking place. The same appears to result where you have created a slideshow. In the Facebook album and in the Slideshow album, the file info reports the master file name -- in my case the xxxx.NEF file, which clearly none of them really are, but rather some version.
I will try to do a more precise test where I can measure the size of the Masters folder to see if the "Move" adds to its size by an amount equal to the size of the Master file.

I tried that. When I open one image and set the exposure, then go to open the second image, nothing happens. I then saved one image as a psd file, then it would let me open the raw file a second time. When I had both open on the same screen and dragged the layer from one into another image, the layer size ended up being different than the other file. It was shifted down and to the left. I need these images to be pixel locked, and the user experience I went through did not allow me to do this.
I also do not see a way to copy/paste layers between files.

Moving multiple images

I'm using RoboHelp 7.02. I have several images that were
imported into various help files at the top level. This really
clutters up my Project Manager, so I set about the task of putting
all those images into an Image folder.
I was happy to discover that moving an image in Project
Manager updates the links in the topics. But, I cannot select
multiple images. Is there a method unknown to me for selecting
multiple images so I can move them into the Images folder while
updating the links in the topics?
