Moving existing project to an IDE

I am considering moving an existing, 12-year old, java [url http://r0k.us/graphics/SIHwheel.html]hobbyist project to an IDE. Up to now, development has been with the Textpad text editor, the msWindows cmd tool, and the CVS version system. Before starting, I'd like to get some opinions on what kinds of things should be considered, and the current strengths and weaknesses of the various IDEs. I've heard good thanks about Netbeans, Eclipse, and Intellij.
Here are some of the parameters involving the project:
1) two project directories
1a) ntc, with 3 java files
1b) sihwheel, with 5 java files, and some resources (5 properties files, 2 html files, and a PNG image)
2) 33 classes get created, then jar'red along with the resources of 1b
3) application normally runs as an applet, but can run as program
4) open source project
5) no build support (ant, etc) yet
Hmm, should I implement build support first, or do at same time? The distributed pieces of the build would be SIHwheel.jar, SIHwheel.html, and SIH_source.zip. Since they can run stand-alone, I also distribute, from the ntc project, NTC.java ColorName.java, and Hilb.java.
Some of my desires for an IDE are:
1) not complex to learn or use
2) easy import of the above "raw" project without forcing major reconfiguration of directory structure, etc.
3) ability to still make q&d changes with Textpad, javac, and jar
4) debug support
5) multi-platform supprt (I normally run Windows 7, but can boot into Ubuntu Linux)
Consider those to be more of a wish list than requirements. I'm flexible ;) and would like the IDE to be flexible as well.

Just focusing on that point (the rest are answered already I think)
Hmm, should I implement build support first, or do at same time? The distributed pieces of the build would be SIHwheel.jar, SIHwheel.html, and SIH_source.zip.Note that both Eclipse and NB have "single-target" builds by default (htey build a jar, or, in the case of a J2SE app in NetBeans, a 'dist' folder with a main jar and dependencies). Building several targets will require manual configuration on your part.
In the case of NetBeans, whose build system relies on Ant (generated Ant build files, which you can manually edit afterwards), building several targets (one jar, one HTMl page, one zip) will require to customize the generated build script, so you'll have to learn Ant anyway.
In the case of Eclipse, I know you can "use" an Ant build script, which you create and edit through the text editor, but it does not natively generates it (there are probably plugins that do that). I think there are wizards to request the creation/copy of so-and-so (Jar file I'm sure, copy too, zip I don't know), which you can customize at least per source folder, but this customization won't propagate automatically to the Ant build script.
The last time I used that, Jar generation was "manual" (a menu item somewhere trigerred a "generate jar" build), but this may have evolved.
I can't comment on IDEA, never used it.

  • How can I build an existed project into eclipse IDE?

    Hello, all,
    I did not use eclipse IDE before. Someone gave me an completed directory which
    was a project (including all classes and source code) built by eclipse IDE. I
    want to rebuild it into eclipse on my computer. But eclipse only has "new" item
    to generate new project, class, etc. How can I rebuild the exist project in
    eclipse IDE?
    I appreciate your help or any suggestion!
    Thanks
    John

    Easiest way:
    Copy the folder into the Eclipse Workspace folder
    Create the "new" project with the same name as that folder.
    Eclipse should detect an existing project with the same name, inform you of this, and proceed from there.

    I have existing projects made in iMovie and now I can't play them or edit them... any idea what's going on? P/s M preview window is totally blank.  I can't figure out what went wrong. Thank you

    For iMovie to see your projects, they must be in a certain place. If they are on your startup internal hard drive, they must be in the Movies/iMovie Projects/ folder. If they are on an external drive, they must be in the iMovie Projects/ folder at the top level of the drive. Is it possible that your projects have been moves somewhere else?

  • Moving existing EP6 SP2 Projects in to JDI

    Is there any tool or option available in Netweaver developer studio to move existing EP6SP2 Projects in to a Development component of JDI?.
    Thanks in advance.

    Have any body tried moving existing Portal Java iView Projects in to JDI?.. Please share your experience.

  • Moving existing PAR Project in to JDI

    Have anyone tried moving existing java iView projects in to Java Development Infrastructure of NW 04?. Is there any document that gives details about this?.

    Thanks. It works. However i have two more questions.
    1) I have a project that has xyz libraries in build path of portal project. How can we have these libraries in the migrated project in DTR automatically?.
    I have already tried importing the par file. However the project gives lot of compilation error about missing libaries in build path. I tried adding those libraies maunally but those entries got deleted when i build the project.
    2) I have posted this problem in another forum. i got an error "Used component not found: sap.com/tc/bi/bp/portalapplication" when i tried to build a simple "Hello World" project. Are we missing something in the development track configuration?.

    How do I point iMovie to events in my external  hard drive so I can play projects which use them?
    MacBook, iMovie 9.0.4

    Hi
    You can do this - by not doing it the way You describe as it will not work.
    a. the external hard disk - MUST BE - Mac OS extended (hfs) formatted -
    UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange - will work for most things - BUT NOT FOR VIDEO (iMovie, iDVD or FinalCut doesn't matter)
    b. Do not alter or move any folder named
    • iMovie Event's - or -
    • iMovie Project's
    on DeskTop/Finder - at all
    All moving's of Events and Projects must be done within the iMovie Application - then connections will not break.
    (move them back and see if iMovie remembers them - then do move as described above)

  • Need solution to make changes in existing project sites in Project Server 2010 environment

    Dear Folks,
    Hope you all are doing good and ready to give a way for this requirement. :)
    In project server 2010 environment, I am using InfoPath documents library, Issues, Risks etc in each and every project sites.
    Say, after creation of 100 projects/project sites, I have got a requirement to make some changes in the InfoPath document library and in Issues, Risks list, so I have decided to use the following solution which is actually weird:
    Make the changes in InfoPath document library, Issues/Risks list for 1 of the project site and save that site as template and associate it with running EPT.
    Then, delete the existing project sites (after taking backup) and start recreating it from PWA/Server Settings/ Operational Policies/ Project Sites, so that it will take the latest template. But, seems like it is time taking and handy and actually it's not
    working for some of the projects.
    Request all of you to provide some solution for this.
    Ask more, if my explanation is not clear.
    Regards,
    Shravan

    Hello,
    Regarding mass deleting and recreating Project Sites via the PSI, firstly delete the project sites then run the following PowerShell script to bulk create project sites:
    https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/Bulk-create-Server-Sites-784f7b29
    I have got a script that bulk deletes projects but this is not published as this could be a dangerous script to run if you did know what to update etc. To give you an idea of how to delete project sites via the PSI see a code snippet below:
    $EPMTYGUID = [system.guid]::empty
    $projectOwnerID = 'd6a0a720-12ac-e211-93f9-00155d153dd4'
    $ProjectList = $svcPSProxy.ReadProjectStatus("$EPMTYGUID","PublishedStore","", "0").Project | format-table proj_uid -hidetableheaders | out-string -stream
    foreach ($projectUid in $projectList)
    if ($projectUid -ne "")
    $projectsforDeletions = $svcPSProxy.ReadProject($projectUid, "PublishedStore").Project | where {$_.projectOwnerID -eq $projectOwnerID} | format-table proj_uid -hidetableheaders | out-string -stream
    foreach ($projUid in $projectsforDeletions)
    if ($projUid -ne "")
    $svcWSSProxy.DeleteWSSSite($projUid)
    Write-host 'Project UID for deleted site' $projUID
    That particular example deletes the project sites for a particular project owner, you could easily modify that to remove the project owner filter if needed.
    Regarding your query about having to delete the project sites to get the changes to take affect, there is no easy option to get the issues and risks list changes to filter though, this would either be manual on each existing site or using code to iterate
    through each existing site and apply the changes programmatically. Depending on if you used site collection content types to set up the Issues and Risks lists, it might be simple to add a new column etc. as you could do this centrally and it will cascade
    down. If you didn't use content types and or its view changes etc. this is a per site change that can be manual or programmatically done. The same applies to the document library, if this was set up using a site collection content type, the changes can
    be modified on the content type and cascaded down. If the library was set up with just a library that used local columns / templates then it will be a per site change - the same as the issues and risks.
    The company I work for (CPS) does have a site sync tool that will programmatically update existing sites based on a specified site so I know it is all possible to do in code!

  • Conversion of 1.2 JATO project (non-Forte IDE) to S1AF (JATO) 2.0

    JATO Team,
    First of all, thank you very much for the Studio integration. It
    looks very promising in terms of development time consumption,
    deployment to S1AS7, etc., etc. It is impossible to observe all
    advantages for so short period of time.
    The SOAF (JATO) 2.0 is installed on the top of the Sun ONE Studio 4,
    update 1 (EE) with JDK 1.4 along with the Sun One Application Server
    7 (W2000). Everything looks okay, at least all basic tasks listed in
    the "Getting Started" manual (project/view/model creation, basic db
    connection, running of a test application with the usage of the
    Studio's default Tomcat container, etc.) work proper.
    During the installation of S1AF module on the top of the Sun ONE
    Studio 4, update 1 (EE) I've got an invitation to convert the
    existing project to the new environment. As I realized the only JATO
    project integrated/created with Forte IDE is applicable for this auto-
    conversion (please correct me, if I am wrong. It could solve a lot of
    my problems).
    Since we are using JBuilder5 IDE and our JATO 1.2 project is
    integrated with this IDE I manually re-created project in the Studio
    with its file structure, adjusted the project web.xml file, etc. This
    new project looks like a proper one (Studio recognize all methods,
    fields, bean patterns, e.g.) except at least one "small" thing. All
    java files (project viewBeans, Models, custom viewBeanHelpers a.k.a.
    pure java) came up with the same wizard image:java class. Stutio with
    the S1AF module reserves the special images (and appropriate studio
    properties, of course!) for View and Model. Namely this allows to see
    the following structure for a ViewBean, for example, in the Studio:
    Modules
    ProjectName.ModuleName
    FooViewBean
    JavaSource
    JSPs
    Non-Visual Components
    View Components
    On the other hand, I could add either new View or Model in my
    manually converted project and add any View Component or bind the
    Model fields, for example. Also, the ProjectModuleServlet has been
    converted proper. I tried to convert each View/Model class inside the
    Studio to its proper wizard image and failed. Addition of a View
    Components (with an appropriate code fragments) via the Studio or
    auto-binding of model fields is an essential part of 2.0 and should
    drastically speed up the development process as it is designed.
    Questions:
    1. What I missed in my manual conversion of 1.2 JATO project to the
    SOAF (JATO) 2.0 realm? What should I correct in my JATO 1.2
    compatible classes (Views and Models) to be recognizable by Studio
    wizard (JATO 2.0)?
    To be more specific. Some deltas between JATO 1.2 and JATO 2.0 are as
    follows (related to a ViewBean):
    ====++++++++++++++======
    JATO 1.2 viewBean extension upon creation:
    public class FooViewBeanViewBean extends ViewBeanBase
    implements ViewBean
    ========================
    JATO 2.0 (S1AF) version: viewBean extension upon creation:
    public class FooViewBean extends BasicBeanBase
    ====++++++++++++++======
    JATO 1.2 viewBean createChild(...) method for one static looks
    like:
    protected View createChild(String name)
    if (name.equals(CHILD_STATICTEXT1))
    StaticTextField child = new StaticTextField
    (this,
    getDefaultModel(),
    CHILD_STATICTEXT1,
    CHILD_STATICTEXT1,
    CHILD_STATICTEXT1_RESET_VALUE,
    null);
    return child;
    ========================
    JATO 2.0 (S1AF) version: viewBean createChild(...) is renamed (as
    a least) to createChildReserved(...):
    protected View createChildReserved(String name) {
    if (name.equals(CHILD_STATICTEXT1)) {
    com.iplanet.jato.view.BasicDisplayField child =
    new com.iplanet.jato.view.BasicDisplayField(this,
    STATICTEXT1);
    return child;
    ====++++++++++++++======
    JATO 1.2 viewBean registerChildren() method for the basic field
    types looks like:
    private void registerChildren() {
    registerChild(CHILD_STATICTEXT1, StaticTextField.class);
    registerChild(CHILD_TEXTFIELD1, TextField.class);
    registerChild(CHILD_BUTTON1, Button.class);
    ========================
    JATO 2.0 (S1AF) version: viewBean registerChildren() method:
    private void registerChildren() {
    registerChild(CHILD_STATICTEXT1,
    com.iplanet.jato.view.BasicDisplayField.class);
    registerChild(CHILD_TEXTFIELD1,
    com.iplanet.jato.view.BasicDisplayField.class);
    registerChild(CHILD_BUTTON1,
    com.iplanet.jato.view.BasicCommandField.class);
    Is it correct to say that all existing custom Views/Models
    (compatible with JATO 1.2) should be converted to their JATO 2.0
    variants to be visible by the Studio?
    On the other hand, fast overview of 2.0 API shows that the JATO 1.2
    is a sub-set of the 2.0 (BasicViewBean extends ViewBeanBase, for
    example). What exactly (only deprecated methods?) should be adjusted
    in the project code (1.2), if necessary, to be visible by Studio as a
    View or Model component?
    2. Where it is possible to find the list of deprecated methods (from
    JATO 1.2 to JATO 2.0 versions). It is difficult sometimes to compare
    two versions of API docs (1.2 and 2.0) or compare logs between
    versions. Also, JATO 2.0 is significantly larger than 1.2 version. If
    the later obviously inherits the ND conversion stage (via the
    previous versions), the former obviously has additions incoming from
    the integration with the Studio (a.k.a. Forte 4.0).
    3. What is the current/future Sun/JATO Team policy with regards to
    JATO source code access (version 2.0, at least)? The reason of this
    question is as follows: in order to display dates formatted on the
    screens we adjusted a couple of JATO 1.2 core classes, for example.
    The only minimal, absolutely necessary changes in JATO 1.2 was made,
    but anyway...
    Sorry for so long multiple question. As Todd wrote in his
    announcement mail: "We think you will be very pleased with the new
    product...". This is exciting moment, I believe, for JATO Team as
    well as for any team involved into the conversion of the full size
    application/product from ND to J2EE realm with the JATO as
    an application framework (1.0, 1.1.x, 1.2.X, and 2.0 finally). The
    last step is left in this spiral process to enjoy the ND_Studio
    attractive features in the open source environment.
    Thank you very much in advance.
    Vladimir Ivanov

    I'll get some file templates ASAP and provide them to the group.
    As for source code, I'm not sure what the policy is. JATO 1.2 is very
    close to what JATO 2.0 is, so that should suffice for now.
    The community will be informed when we know more about source availibility.

    Craig,
    Thank you for the answer. To be honest with you I tried to do exactly
    the same: I created the small test project and made an attempt to
    adjust the existing *.xml files to the new ones. I got some results,
    otherwise I couldn't even see my original 1.2 project in the Studio.
    Since I am a newcomer in the Studio, I definitely missed something in
    my adjustments. I'll try to observe my changes with the fresh head.
    On the other hand, I am afraid that my samples are very pure. If you
    could post or send me examples of jatoapp.xml and web.xml files (say
    for any of you test project) or excerptions from them with the
    appropriate patterns (ViewBean and Model peers, at least), I would be
    very appreciated. My mail is: vivanov@b...
    In the worst-case scenario I see the workaround: to re-create the
    project for one of our releases with the Forte 4.1 IDE and auto-
    convert it into the JATO 2.0/Studio world using the Studio
    facilities. We must get the current project fully
    integrated/converted with/to the Studio (at certain point) because,
    first, we expect massive coding with the GUI components involved soon
    and, secondly, we have around thousand classes related to JATO only
    (and a lot of extras).
    Coming back to the question #3 from this post. Now we have full
    access to the version 1.2, not only to the JATO 1.2 jar file(I
    explained some reasons below). Would we expect the same Sun/JATO Team
    policy with JATO 2.0?
    Thank you again,
    Vlad

    It doesn't appear that anyone has responded to this so I am goingto
    give you the short answer:
    The reason you don't see your ViewBeans and Models showing up with
    there "wizard created" icons is because of just that. They weren't
    created via the wizards. The wizards create xml formatted filesthat
    contain metadata of how/what to generate for the ViewBeans and
    Models.
    ViewBeans will have a .viewbean fiel, Models will have a .sqlmodel
    file (for SQL Models), etc. The content of these files describesthe
    code that needs to be generated in the corresponding Java classfile.
    So LoginViewBean.java will have a peer LoginViewBean.viewbean file.
    The code that is generated is place in protected code blocks thatcan
    not be modified in the Studio and should not be modified outsidethe
    Studio because the code will likely be regenerated and custom mods
    inside the protected blocks will be lost.
    Now you can make a JATO 1.2 app appear in the Studio just like aJATO
    2.0 app by adding a jatoapp.xml file with the proper content and
    adjusting your web.xml properly, but it's much more work to getyour
    v1.2 ViewBeans and Models to show up like wizard created versions.
    Furthermore, even more work to get the display fields to show up
    visually.
    The good news is that v1.2 ViewBeans will work with newly wizard
    created ViewBeans. And if you do go through the trouble of making
    your ViewBeans Studio visible like your wizard created ViewBeans,
    adding new display fields visually will work along side yourmanually
    created fields.
    Try creating a new JATO app using the Studio wizards and then go to
    the Filesystems tab and look for the jatoapp.xml file and theweb.xml
    file.
    I am looking for an email that I have that explains how to do a
    partial, manual upgrade.
    Also, you will get rid of your JATO 1.2 jar and replace with theJATO
    2.0 jar in your lib dir.
    Hope this will suffice for now.

    3. What is the current/future Sun/JATO Team policy with regards
    to
    JATO source code access (version 2.0, at least)? The reason ofthis
    question is as follows: in order to display dates formatted onthe
    screens we adjusted a couple of JATO 1.2 core classes, forexample.
    The only minimal, absolutely necessary changes in JATO 1.2 wasmade,
    but anyway...
    Sorry for so long multiple question. As Todd wrote in his
    announcement mail: "We think you will be very pleased with the
    new
    product...". This is exciting moment, I believe, for JATO Team as
    well as for any team involved into the conversion of the fullsize
    application/product from ND to J2EE realm with the JATO as
    an application framework (1.0, 1.1.x, 1.2.X, and 2.0 finally).The
    last step is left in this spiral process to enjoy the ND_Studio
    attractive features in the open source environment.
    Thank you very much in advance.

  • Substitution not carried out when WBS is added to an existing project......

    Hi, I have created a substitution rule to substitute the investment profile in my projects with a blank for any WBS which is not level one.   I am not sure why this rule does not take effect immediately a new WBS is included.  When I try to carry out the substitution manually, I get the error message 'Error when processing asset under construction (AuC) for WBS element'. Any ideas how I can get this substituion to work when a new WBS is added to an existing project?

    You should use the substitution otherway....
    I believe your project is in REL status and also you have defaulted IM profile in the project, so whenever you create a WBSE, the IM profile is inherited to the WBSE and since it is in REL status, the system will create an AUC based on your IM profile and now you are using substituition to remove the IM profile so this will cause the problem...Instead of this....try this...do not default IM profile in project, and instead of removing IM profile for all WBSE which is not level 1, use substitution to write IM profile in WBSE which is only level 1.

  • Can't import existing project or multiple project into workspace

    Hi everyone,
    When i created a new model to my project , i lost the fils generated automatically in gen_wdp. so the types generated automatically are not recognazed in the code.
    Before creating the new model, i have copied the folder of the project to an other place. I try actually to get back this version which contains all generated fils and  which works correctly.
    I copied the folder of the last version, before creating models, to ...DCs\sap.com\home and i tried to do an import in NWDS.
    when i chose as import source: multiple existing projects into workspace, i can't see the folder to check it and when i use * Existing project into workspace* i can see it in the brows but when i chose it, i have the message Projects already exists
    any idea please?!
    Thanks
    Safae

    Thank you Rahul,
    I deleted the new version from the folder .dtc\0\DCs\sap.com\home and i replace it by the latest version before importing the model. In NWDS i closed and opened the project again. The build is OK, but i don't know if the activity is ok( contains the current version of project) or I should do something for updating it.
    Thanks in advance for your help.
    Regards.

  • Flash Builder 4.5 - Flex (source code automatically changed after existing project import)

    Hi all!
    Til yesterday, i was using FB v4.0 and it was perfectly working.
    But now I'm under 4.5 and i have problem when importing my existing projects.
    Now let me introduce the matter:
    The entire project solution is located on my Desktop.
    So, to import this, i go in FB in File>Import Project
    Then i select "Project Repository" option and "Browse" button, then select the project on Desktop...
    So.... import complete and SEEM TO BE successful
    Unfortunately, from the IDE, when i double click on each source files, the code inside is not the expected one.
    In fact, it looks as an older version of my code.
    Then, i exit totally FB4.5...
    ... and open my source files with a simple text editor, i can see that the original code (before import) has been changed by FB4.5...
    So, why???
    for example, this original code:
    * This is a generated class and is not intended for modification.  To customize behavior
    * of this service wrapper you may modify the generated sub-class of this class - WS_rq_login.as.

    Well well,
    I got some news about this problem....
    Look like Flash Builder uses a ".FML" file to reference URL of all WebServices used in the project.
    When replacements occurs, the updated values seem coming from this.

  • Adf bc jar for base entity classes and extending them existing  project

    Hi,
    I am using jdev 11.1.1.0 and have created a base workspace/project and adf jar for my base entity classes.
    1. I can consume this base adf bc jar in a separate new consuming workspace and create VO based on base bc classes or create new EOs that extend base bc entity classes.
    2. Furthermore, for an existing consuming project that earlier included src/ of base entity (BC components), i can remove the dependency on bc source and bring in this new adf jar and everything including the view controller and the service/datacontrol works fine.
    The issue i am running into is as follows.
    - In the existing project (#2) above i try to create a couple of entities based on entities in my base jar; associations are automatically brought in. Note i am not overriding any attributes. My intent here is to generate .java and implement some code.
    - I then try to make my existing VOs based on the newly extended entity (VO overview->Entity Objects-> Shuttle NewEntity from Available to Selected)
    - I then try to remove the old EO from selected under VO overview->Entity Objects->Shuttle OldEntity from Selected back
    - I get a warning dialog box that says something to the effect that some viewlinks are dependent on these old EOs in this consuming project.
    - I tried to laboriously analyzed dependencies and it this dialog box does not make any sense as I have already extended EOs and the tooling should be able to let me use these
    My questions
    - Why I am not able to remove old entities from VO dependencies
    - Is it ok to leave the old EOs in "Selected" along with the newly extended EO ? What are the implications for this?
    - I also thought about extending base associations, but did not go anywhere.
    In general, I am ok with consuming an ADF BC jar that has entities etc. but not clear about removing dependencies of base EOs on VOs when entities are extended and consumed in a pre-existing project that used base entities.
    I can send a project if any PM is willing to take a look at it.
    Thanks,
    ps:
    I have already gone over the following info
    http://technology.amis.nl/blog/215/organization-of-bc4j-domain-eo-and-business-vo-package
    .. wants to create an enterprise data model in BC4J, reflecting the Enterprise Data Model set up in the RDBMS. All (or at least most) business rules will be implemented in the Middle Tier – to take the load of the database and also allow developers not comfortable with PL/SQL to define and maintain the business rules. It is clear that this means that all applications that need to access – and manipulate – the database, need to go through the BC4J foundation layer. Martijn wants to define the Entity Objects – and their business rules – only once and share that definition between different projects. Each projects can create its own ViewObjects on top of these shared Enterprise Entity Objects.
    http://radio-weblogs.com/0118231/2005/09/29.html
    I am currently working on a project for a partner where we will be using ADF BC as our model layer for a large application. In order to keep the footprint of each application module down to a reasonable size, we are intending to create a number of separate 'root' application modules for each functional area of the application. Within, these 'root' application modules we will then use nested application modules to further partition the application. All of the application modules will be accessing the same datasource and will need access to the same database objects.
    In order to separate our code between the development team and into function areas, our initial thoughts were that we would create an ADF BC model project containing Entity Objects for all of the database tables e.t.c. as these are common amongst all functional areas. We have configured all of the EOs for validation rules, defaulting values and extending doDML() as appropriate. Happy at this stage we then created a simple .jar file to deploy all of the definitions. Upon creating a new ADF BC project for each functional area we added the jar file as a library import into the new project. However when we the tried to create some new View Objects via the JDev Wizard we were unable to see the imported Entity Objects.
    Is the only way to share Entity Object definitions between different ADF BC projects to manually copy the source definition files into the new projects src directory? Since this would mean multiple copies of the same components, it could prove to be a maintenance nightmare.Is there a way of doing it without creating multiple copies of the same object definitions?
    The developer is spot on in their ideas of layering and reuse, and even has created a library for their reusable entities. This last step is not something everyone thinks to do. The missing step is known as "importing" components, so with that one extra bit of knowledge under his belt, he should be able to do exactly what he envisions. My little article called Difference Between Adding and Importing Business Components tries to explain the difference and gives the menu options to choose to perform the importing.

  • How to import existing projects into JDeveloper 11g

    I am trying to work with JDeveloper for my application and want to know whether it is possible to import existing projects into the work space in JDeveloper. I am currently working with eclipse IDE and this feature is available in it. How can I connect to clear case from JDeveloper? In eclipse it is very easy to connect to clear case with a plugin installed and check out, check in files from the source control. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    The basic way to import code is to use the "New->Projects->Project from existing code" or "project from WAR" dialogs to create your project.
    You then need to do some tweaking in the project properties->Content (and sub nodes such as resources and Web content).
    And also set the correct JARs/Libraries in the project properties.
    You can use the help->check for update to download the extension to JDeveloper that will let you integrate with Clearcase to do version management.
    This how-to might help you with your migration:

  • Premier 13 stops working when existing project is loaded (after uninstalling Premier 9 where the project started)

    I started a project using Premier 9. Then I upgraded to 13, edited and saved my existing project several times successfully. Decided that it appeared 13 was working well and I no longer needed 9 and 11 (both Photoshop Elements and Premier Elements) so I uninstalled them using the Control Panel app. Now 13 stops working when I try to load my project.
    I have since uninstalled/re-installed/rebooted everything in various sequences many many times with no luck. I even purchased and installed another copy of 9 (since the original was a download and I could not find my notes & serial numbers)! The 9 install encountered a problem "an installation process has encountered an error while installing", it stopped, then rolled the install back so I have nothing for 9.
    HELP
    Paul L

    PaulL
    Probably good idea to recreate the version 9 project in version 13. Investment of time in troubleshooting version 9 is questionable as you say.
    At this point, I would leave Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 installed, just do not open it.
    When you are between Premiere Elements 13 projects and you want to get rid of Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1,
    consider
    1. Deactivate the program from an opened project's Help Menu/Deactivate...close out of the program.
    2. Uninstall the program the usual Control Panel way
    3. Do a free ccleaner run through (regular cleaner and registry cleaner parts) to get rid of leftovers from incomplete installs or uninstalls.
    CCleaner - Download
    Note: Deactivation is not the same as uninstall.
    Critical - after a project is saved closed, never move, delete, or rename files/folders that were imported into the project after the project's save close.
    When you import files into a project, all you get are copies of the originals. But, those copies need to trace back to the originals in the location where
    they were when they were first imported into the project. More on that later as indicated.
    Please let me know if any questions or clarification needed on any of the above. Are there any Elements Organizer consideration in any of this?
    If so, I would convert the Elements Organizer 9 catalog in Elements Organizer 13 before uninstalling Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1.
    Thanks for the follow ups.

  • Opening existing project with PRE 9

    I have Premier Elements 9.0. When I start PRE and try to open a saved project, all I get is an empty window. The only way I can open an existing project is to first start a new one, then open the existing one from the File menu.
    I don't know if it's connected, but I am also having a problem with installing an update that appears in Adobe Update manager. It downloads and then reports that it failed.

    bobsapey
    Great job of resolving your Premiere Elements 9 project opening issue.
    McAfee can be particularly problematic for Premiere Elements, controlling both the antivirus and firewall(s).
    As a just in case note, are you working from the 9.0.1 Update of version 9. If not, good idea to do so. But, if you do, please
    use the online link from Adobe rather than the 9's opened project's Help Menu/Update.
