Moving Service to New Address

Anyone have experience with moving their FiOS service from one address to another?  Everytime I have to deal with human beings at Verizon, it is a pretty big pain, so I am worried that the move/transfer process could be pretty painful and that it might just be easier to cancel service at my current address and sign up for new service at my new address.  Any thoughts or experiences would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

I have only had Fios for a few years at the same address and I will not be moving any time soon.  Moving is definitely a lot of work.  But in my honest opinion, I think you should give it a shot with transferring your service to the new address.  How bad can it be?  I would think that cancelling and starting all over again as a new customer at a new address will be even more work and aggravation in the end that you don't need.  Why create more headaches?  Then that way, you can remain on record as a loyal customer and continue renewing your contract every two years to receive the discounts and the Verizon rewards card.  Maybe it won't be such a pain.
Verizon's customer service really isn't that bad.  I've had some good reps on many occasions who were helpful and you know what I do if I'm dealing with someone who really is rude and/or not helpful at all, or if I have already been holding for more than 20 minutes?  I call back later and speak to someone else.  I do believe that the majority of them are doing the best they can with what they have and none of them have easy jobs.  Or try it on line if you don't want to be bothered on the phone.  I've had some very good customer service that way too with certain technical issues or with renewing my contract.  I think the more important goal is to resolve your issue in the end, which is something I have always been able to do regardless.  And then once my issue is resolved, I move on and only call Verizon's customer service if and when I need to.
Remember, it's the product and service that you are paying for; and the quality which I personally think is far better than cable.

  • Moving home-unknown new address

Hi all, I am hoping you can help with some advice. I currently live up north but have just been offered a job in London. I will be moving out at the end of April and for the first month I will be living in a serviced apartment. I have not yet found a new flat in London and will probably not until after I leave my current flat for good.
This is a very stressful process and, of course, as always, BT have decided to add to the stress. I am currently in a 1-year contract for phone, TV and broadband. I don't want to cancel, I don't want to stop paying, I simply want to take it with me. I’ve just called the helpline and have been told that I basically have no option:
    - I can’t do the “move home” option because I would need to supply the “new” address – which I don’t know yet.
    - I can’t put my current contract “on hold” even if I agree to pay for it while not using it – not sure why, it just can’t be done.
    - the only option I was given was to CANCEL my current contract which, of course, will also mean me paying the cancellation fees. This is not an option.
The only work-around I can think of is to simply not do anything for 1 month and hope that my current flat won’t be rented out quickly. But then I have no guarantee the new tennant won't cancel my landline.
I don’t understand why each time I have to deal with BT, I hit nothing but walls.
    Any thoughts/suggestions?
    Thanks!
    A.

    Hi Keith,
Thanks for getting back to me. I think your suggestion might turn out to be my only solution but but I think this might cause an issue for both myself and the new tennant.
Surely there must be an easier way to do this! All I want is for BT to "suspend" my services - I am absolutely fine with paying even if I'm not using them - and then do the house move as soon as I have an updated address in a month or so.
Has anyone had any experience with this before?
    Thanks!

  • Moving proxies to new address

    Hi
My ISP has moved me from 1 IP to 5 but I have to get all new addressing.
They have their modem setup with the old and the new.
I have added the new IP to bordermanager as public and checked it on all
the proxies. It looks like it takes but I cannot connect to the services
from an outside PC. I can ping the address but not get web or smtp etc.
I have also add the new IP in inetcfg and added the new gateway as
    another default route.
    Is it Bordermanager or routing?
    Netware 6 sp5 and Bordermanger 3.7 sp2.
    Thanks,
    Will

    HI
    Thanks!!
I did some testing and it was the gateway. Once I removed the old
gateway I was able to see websites, smpt etc.
I was hoping to be able to use the old and the new addresses to make the
transition seamless. That might have been possible if I had more time to
research and the ISP had NOT deleted my old IP without telling me.
    Thanks,
    Will.

  • Moved to a new address - Activate without a Technician?

I moved to a new apartment within the same building as my old apartment.  The apartments are FiOS Ready, so I don't have to worry about running wires, installing an ONT, etc.   In fact, the apartments were wired with ethernet ports specifically for FiOS when they were built, and I have already identified and configured the switch in the closet/ wall which controls which ethernet port in the various rooms is used for FiOS.
I've terminated and moved my FiOS service from my old apartment to my new apartment via My Verizon already.  However, the soonest date the online scheduler listed to have a technician come out is a week from now (which I've scheduled).  It is completely unacceptable for me to be without internet for a week.
Can I activate my moved FiOS service without a technician needing to come?

You will need to call customer service and see if they can change you to a self install or change your tech date. either way you need customer service.

  • Everything messed up when moving to a new address

When I ordered my current verizon FIOS triple play, I was told by sales representative if I need to move, I can still keep my current contract (it is a two year agreement) and all services, that is one huge reason I siwthced it Verizon.
Now I'm going to move, everything start to screw up:
First, Verizon ask me start a whole new contract with higher price than my current contract and there is absolutely no way to keep my current service and contract,
Second, when I ordered my curretn TP bundle, part of the order is a free internet Router (it is not a rental fee waived! see my order details below), now verizon ask me to leave that router and pay monthly rent if I move. When I contact online customer service, they told me the 139.99 is installation and activation fee... it is obiously the 139.99 is price for router while 79.99 is for installation and 69.99 for activation; then she told me Verizon send new router agreement  last year which I have never recieved......
    One-Time Charges and Credits
FiOS Internet Installation Charge @ $79.99
    Fee Waived
    Wireless Router @ $139.99
    Fee Waived
FiOS Internet Activation Fee @ $69.99
    Fee Waived
As a result, If I'm not happy with all these additional fee and restrictions, I even have no choice to cancel the service since I signed two year agreement and I must per early termination fee; otherwise I must accept the rediculours new price with all new contract?
Just don't know what should I do now..

  • 14 days today trying to get a landline installed at my new address/ verizon keeps cancelling

If anyone can help me it is truly appreciated. Two weeks ago today I moved to a new address and was to have a land line. Called verizon two weeks prior, and thought there was no issue. Here I am two weeks later, and at least 6 cancellations later, and I still have no phone. I was very hopeful with the order put through yesterday, but again this morning it has been cancelled. There is Verizon in my apartment building as the office has Verizon.....I am exhausted trying to get this phone. I am disabled and I need a landline phone. What can I do?

That situation went from inconvenient to complicated quickly.  Wait for any pending orders to drop off, wait for things to clear up, wait till your upgrade comes up and then upgrade when your contract is fulfilled.  I would have suggested a replacement phone, I know, with only a month left why couldn't you just upgrade early, but these situations where people try to upgrade early always end horribly and once a phone order starts, it almost cannot finish until something winds up shipped received and returned.  Sorry this happened the way it did.  Definitely not efficient.

  • Moving to new address with airport extreme

Last year I moved across state. Yesterday I received an iPod touch. When I checked my location using the maps app the iPod touch told me that I was physically at the site of the home we moved away from 400 miles away. I suppose what is happening is that I have not put my new address in the airport extreme base station, but I'm not sure. Would you agree, and if so, how do I update that address in the airport extreme. I began to run the Airport setup utility and it asked if I wanted to create a new network - I actually didn't - I just wanted to put in a new address. How should I proceed? Of course, I may be totally off base with my solution. Thanks in advance for your help.

iPod Touch does access a database that helps it determine its location on the basis of known locations of WiFi access points it is connected to. For this scheme to work, the iPod touch needs to be in contact with a WiFi access point in its database - which are usually commercially run access points in urban areas.
As for your own Base Station - it won't be of much use in helping your iPod touch know where it is. WiFi access points like yours won't be in the database, and no - there is no such thing as an "address configuration" option on an Airport Base Station, so you can stop looking for it.

  • Change email address on printer to new address after moving.

HP Officejet Pro 8500A, Model #A910A Printer Product # CM756A
I have moved, have a new email address and I cannot find how to set my email address on the printer.
Using Mac OS Lion. Can print and scan and fax back to computer, but not send an email directly from the printer (with the scanned document attachment) I have gone into the set up countless times to try to change the outgoing email profile via HP Direct digital filing and the web site is constantly blank, goes nowhere., same for setting up HP digital fax. This is being done from the utility set up area in the web embedded server. This is the message I get:
You will be redirected to a secure (HTTPS-enabled) page.
If you encounter a message about an invalid security certificate, follow the instructions displayed to accept the certificate; you may be prompted to click Continue or OK (or a similar button or link). There is nothing here and is just a dead end.

It sounds like you are getting the prompt to click OK to be redirected to the HTTPS site, but you are not getting anythign after clicking ok.
You could try refereshing the page until it loads (it may take several tries) or try using a different browser.
The secure section of the EWS is not a true site on the Internet and it has a certficate that isn't really registered since it is not accessible outside of your network.  Browsers can have an issue with this sometimes.

  • Moving into a new place

    Hi,
My friend and I are moving into a new flat and are attempting to get our utilities set up before we move in. How do I go about finding out if we have a Bt landline when I cannot get access to the property and do not have a known phone number for the premesis.
If there is no way to do that could you please tell me the conventional method of finding out so I can tell my letting agency as they do not seem to know ( appauling isn't it).
    Any help is appreciated,
    Cheers.

    Hi Tomkix,

  • Help needed starting Internet service at new residence

Hello. My name is {edited for privacy}. I recently moved to a new location and I am having trouble finding a Verizon representative to help me order high speed Internet service at my new residence. I have been working with a specialist supervisor {edited for privacy} regarding this issue. However, he has not contacted me as promised for over 2 weeks. While I understand the holiday season is/was upon us, with vacation time and special hours, I have left 3 voice messages over this period in an attempt to collect information and solve my dilemma.
Because of my location at {edited for privacy}, it is classified as rural. Subsequently, I understand a finite number of connections exist. I was assured because I already have a Verizon port installed in my house from the previous tenants all that needed to be done was for the software engineers to update the site to include my address in their system. Unfortunately, this was never completed even though numerous Verizon representatives ordered this information to be updated. They informed me the turnaround for the software engineers to correct this problem was 24-48 hours and I should be able to set up service by either calling or going online. This was in early December. I was given a fast order number {edited for privacy} which has been helpful when speaking to various representatives.
In addition, I have also spoken to my local Verizon technician in Russell, PA. He informed me there should not be a problem as numerous ports are open for rural connection in my area. He said I may need to connect a land-line before proceeding and once a dial tone was initiated a high speed connection could be made. The representatives and technicians I have spoken with have been extremely helpful in my quest to secure an Internet connection. I am writing this letter to hopefully proceed with contacting the software engineers to please update the Verizon residential site so I can move forward with my installation.
If there is any way I can set up service at my location that would be fantastic. I teach online classes and desperately need a reliable fast Internet connection to work with my students. I appreciate your time and help regarding my dilemma.
    Sincerely,
    {edited for privacy}

  • Received collection letter after transferring my service to new home.

I moved to a new out of state home in August 2014 and transferred my services to the new address. I paid the final bill and 5 months later I receive a collection letter for an unpaid bill. I never received the unpaid bill(I use paperless billing) as I've always paid my bill every month for the past 3 years. The collection letter was the first time I was notitified of this bill. I've since paid the bill to Verizon (not the collection agency BCE Group).
However, this collection has been reported the credit agencies and it has ruined my credit. I've contacted Verizon but no one seems to be able to assist me in removing this from my credit report. This was through no fault of my own and I'm having hard time correcting this horrible mistake committed by Verizon. I'm running out of options at this point.

    Hi sixsigma,
Sorry you are having difficulty. An agent with access to your account will reach out to you directly by email, private message in the Forums and/or the billing telephone number on your Verizon account for more information or to help you resolve your issue. Please remember to check your spam/junk folder if you do not hear from an agent.

  • The time-wasting/money-sucking mess that is Comcast service at new house

Add me to the ranks of the unhappy comcast customers. I moved into a new house a month ago. I got Xfinity Home, Internet, and TV installed. The internet and TV did not work reliably - in fact they reliably did not work for most of that time, so I spent most of my free time calling, troubleshooting, having comcast people out to my  house multiple times.  After about 3 weeks of that I think my internet and tv are working more reliably. Now I have the time to turn my attention to XFinity Home Security, WHICH HAS NOT WORKED FOR ONE DAY.  I wont' go into all of the many ways it's not reliable, but it's not reliable.  and in fact I've never been able to actually set the alarm on my house.  I don't even know what's wrong with it AND I'VE SPENT ALL MY FREE TIME GETTING COMCAST TO FIX INTERNET AND TV AND DON'T HAVE ANY MORE TIME TO TROUBLESHOOT HOME SECURITY. here's the kicker: I spent all afternoon calling comcast, the first two people I got were helpful, or trying to be helpful - my main question is why I owe over $700 to comcast for one month of service.  Apparently $500+ of that is installation of the HOME SECURITY SYSTEM THAT DOESN'T WORK.  Also: I don't have that broken out anywhere I can see it. Anyway, the first two calls: the first one 20-30 minutes, the second one about 20-30 minutes I was put on hold while the person tried to figure it out and both times I was disconnected and they never called me back! the third time I got a guy saying I'm "way past my 30 day deadline" (I'm 5 days past it, thanks for exaggerating) when I got so fed up with why I have to pay so much money for somethign that has never worked adn I want it to go away.  He said if I want to cancel home security now it will cost another $660 to break the contract.  Break the contract?  I'm still waiting for Comcast to actually provide the service they contracted for.  How am I breaking my contract?  Not comcast? so...it will cost me over $1,100 to install and then remove and "break my contract" for a home security system that has never worked. and also: i get to go into comcast "customer service" land to try to do any of this.  Which means I will get disconnected and waste a bunch more time again. And since the comcast guys that installed my servie to my home actually cut the AT&T phone wires, i now can't just cancel comcast and get AT&T without another headache on my hands because comcast cut the AT&T cables that go into my house!!! all this, and I owe $738 that is due in 4 days!  I think the only thing Comcast worries about are accounts payable.  I don't think I've ever wasted this much time for nothing and been this angry and dissapointed with a service provider. there...all that venting and I'm still in the same place, which is nowhere.  Now that I think about it, the fact that comcast cut the telephone cables going into my house really takes the cake for me.

    Tdamb wrote:

Typically the phone line is just disconnected in the phone compay's box on the outside of your house (it's called the NID). In some cases the tech may not be able to access the NID so they may physically cut the phone company's feed. It's a technical requirement because landlines carry voltage which interferes with the operation of VOIP phone systems. You would need to do the same thing with Vonage or other whole house VOIP systems.
Edit: I see someone already escalated your issue to corporate, so you should be hearing from someone at Comcast soon.

  • Can't add a new address card to Address Book

    Hi!
Well, I searched and searched the site all over and haven't found any info about this, so I hope I'm not repeating. When I open my address book app and try to add a new card the options under file for "New Card" and "New group", etc. are dimmed and not available and I cannot add any new addresses.
I tried to add addresses out of the "previous recipient" under "window" in the Mail app but it marked it as added and then didn't add it -- it was not in my address book when I checked.
I also tried to throw my address book preference lists in my user library in the trash, emptied the trash and then restarted and it still would not work. ( I am the only user on this computer)
I recently had a reinstall done of my OS X (i'm running 10.4.3) which was done by the guys at my Apple store and I THOUGHT it was working -- although frankly this was not something I checked -- I just saw that my addresses were there. [I had had them do a reinstall because I was having trouble with my Help files working, but that is a very long, sad story...] The only other thing I have done is to install the most recent security update 2005-009 using the software update, but again I'm not sure that this problem was not present before that since I had not tried to add an address.
I even threw out the cache from my user library for the address book that says Metadata (after I printed out my addresses on paper, just in case -- I don't have hundreds and i can manually add them back if needed) Restarted -- and oddly enough there were my addresses in my address book just as if I hadn't trashed them. But I still could not add any new addresses.
I also ran a check on my fonts with Font book and one was found to be defective so I deleted it and restarted -- no effect.
What can I do? I haven't had any of this type of problem before and I think the guys at my Apple store are probably getting tired of seeing me! Thanks for your help!
    Quicksilver G4   Mac OS X (10.4.3)
    Quicksilver G4   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

The address book database is stored under the user's home folder in library>application support>AddressBook>AddressBook.data - i would save that some place safe (RW CD) and then delete it or move it to see if Address Book regains it's functionailty. If so that means one of the files might be corrupt. Add them back one by one and see if you can have contacts and functionality.
Alternatively you can also try, repair permissions, check disk etc from disk utility (utilities folder), and you can also try reinstalling the 10.4.3 update, i would suggest a fresh download of the combo update (yes i know it's big but it has worked wonders for me in the past).
If all else fails the apple shop should offer a free follow up, usually if there are still problems within a time period after getting it back they will re-service it for free.
Hope that helps, keep us updated

I was trying to return the old router that I had from my previous address. (They gave me a new one when I moved to the new house)

As already said it depends on the model that you have. If you have an Actiontec they will proabably want it back, but if its an old Westell they won't.

When you send a new email message and you receiving a red X after you send the message?
If you do receive a red X, open the message and it should say why it failed.
Is your email setup on a BES or BIS?
What it comes down to, is that you probably have an issue with with your service books.
I would suggest removing your email service books and re-sending the service books.
