You can download a driver for the player on our Downloads page.
Before this error, did you go into Rescue Mode by any chance, and chose "Reload OS"? Or did you try to update the firmware? If you did, which firmware file did you use? Have you tried running a firmware update file with the player attached, since you got this error?

  • The Back Panel of the Creative Nomad Zen X

Is it safe to take out the two screws and remove the back panel of the nomad zen xtra? Besides voiding the warranty. follow-up question, would it be safe to spray paint the removable front panel and the back panel? Follow-up to the follow-up queston, what do you think about Gun-metal Black?

well, the back part shouldend have any bad effects if you spray it. Except your warrenty.
The front will not void your warrenty if you paint it. I painted mine.
Hopefully they will release custom face-plates. i'm starting to get annoyed at the lack of extras for there mp3 players. and of course the one i want (FM remote) isnt available for the Zen Xtra.. for some stupid reason. Why would they add the feature then remove it, then add it again to a later model?
    Ugh.
Please Creative. Custom Face-Plates. You did it for the Jukebox3 and the Muvos.

  • Creative Nomad Zen Jukebox issue with Vi

I have used this forum to get my Zen installed properly on the vista machine that i purchased recently. I then downloaded the Nomad explorer from Creative, and i can see all the songs in my player on my machine. The problem is that i am unable to copy the songs on my laptop. When i copy the songs, it shows that the copy is in progress and eventually nothing gets copied. I am really not sure what is happening...
    Any ideas?

My understanding is that it wouldn't accept files over 2Gb. The problem with loading any large file is that if you have some problem with USB during the download it will fail.
Try splitting the file into significantly smaller chunks to see if this helps, say 00Mb.

  • Creative Nomad Zen Xtra headphone jack question.

Im pretty sure I'm gonna get this puppy. Either the 40 or 60 gig. I know all about the headphone jack issue and Im going to make sure and get one of those service plans when I buy the unit. I do have a couple questions though which I would appreciate anyone helping me out with....
) the new reinforced, "fixed" headphone jack units are supposedly shipped in clear, heat sealed packages. what did the old package for the units look like? Where they just card board or something?
    2) if I get the unit and open it up, how can I tell if it has the reinforcement and doesn't need the "heated glue" fix upfront? What exactly does the new reinforcement piece look like?
    3) I have a small hard dri've on my computer. Should I back up my mp3's on an external hard dri've via a usb 2.0 connection or can I just burn like 60 cdrs containing my entire mp3 connection? Will either work with re to transferring them to the unit's
    Thanks in advance
    R

. I think it was a partly clear, partly cardboard box. It wasn't heat sealed though. Also the new one ships with a case that has a cut-out window, so it should be fairly obvious.
    2. It's difficult to tell, but there are posts about it on the forums at Nomadness.net. Again, if it ships in the the heat sealed package I would relax.
    3. Either will work, but obviously CDs are going to be slower to restore to the player. Depends how much money you want to spend on a backup solution. Obviously a hard dri've is the "Rolls Royce" solution, DVD-Rs/CD-Rs less so.

  • Nomad Zen Xtra prob

Well, I just emailed support again but overlooked the (faster?) forums until now. Maybe someone can help me out... ------- EMAIL SENT -------- Hi, I emailed the customer support a while ago and got a generic reply as how to reset my mp3 player's OS. *This is not a software problem, it is a hardware problem... I want to send my Nomad Zen Xtra in to Creative to get it fixed and I will pay for the repairs.* Here is an original copy of the message: Hello, about a year ago I purchased my Creative Nomad Zen Xtra. Only a couple months into using it, I dropped the MP3 player on the headphone jack where my headphones were plugged in and the sound stopped working correctly. I think maybe that the soldering that is keeping the headphone jack on the circuit board is messed up or disconnected. Some sound does come out of one earphone when I wiggle the plug around a bit. How much do you think this would cost me? The player is no longer under its one year warranty, either. Thanks in advance. - Steve ----- Originally answered by Technical Support, Creative Labs Americas ----- Thanks, Steve-oMessage Edited by Jeremy-CL on 0-2-2005 0:08 AM

<EM>I?ve posted it before, but here we go again</EM>:
Two or three months after buying my 40GB zen xtra, the same thing happened to me. I deduced it was a battery problem and prepared myself to expand U$29 on a new one (I li've in Rio and it would be impossible for me to send it back for warranty). While I was looking for the new battery, I kept using it in my job and at home, with the power cord hooked up. I did it some times and one day, without any apearent reason, it started to charge the battery and ever since it never happened again. I friend of mine mentioned that these Li-Ion batteries can have this kind of problem. By that time, he suggested some charging manouveres to recover it but it was no needed. What I suggest you is to keep trying to charge it. You may be as lucky as me!

  • Thinking about Creative Nomad X

I am thinking about getting the Creative Nomad Zen Xtra 30gb and i wanted to know other peoples thoughts on it. How does it sound? Is it durable? have you had many problems with it's
    Thanks

I got my Zen Xtra 30 GB last week and it's been wonderful! It has a good solid feel and quickly got used to the use of/placement of the wheel and the buttons. For me it's the perfect player so far. I carry it in my purse or coat pocket everyday.
I actually bought two of them at same time from Walmart.com - one for me and one for my 6 year old for Christmas. I paid $74.63 each and purchased a 2 yr. extended warranty for $28.
I recommend a trip to www.nomadness.net to the forums - helpful folks and a wealth of information is available there.
I do suggest only loading the supplied driver from Creative and using Notmad Explorer from Redchairsoftware.com for transferring music. I wasted a lot of time trying to work with Mediasource and Nomad Explorer when 5 minutes with the Notmad software and I was rocking and rolling (literally). It's $25 to register but worth it's weight in gold.
If you are going to buy any hard dri've based mp3 player, I suggest you take some time to update/check the ID3 tags on your music collection, as most players (if not all) require these tags to identify/play your music.
Good luck - and enjoy whatever you buy.

  • Something is wrong with my Creative Nomad

Yes i purchased a Creative Nomad Zen 20gb and for some reason the headphone jack is acting very strange and i have to reposition my headphones to get it to work. I know its not my headphones because they work fine in my other cd player. Also sometimes i cant shut it down, Does anybody know how to troubleshoot it

The extra is notorious for bad headphone jacks. But there are few Original zens that have this.
What happened on the extra is there was nothing holding the jack to the mother board other than the solder, thus leaving a good chance that the solder would become loose, and sometimes break off.
If this is the case and you are not on warrantee you can open the casing up and use a hot glue-gun to hold it better. If you are on warrantee and you open the case up it will void the warrantee.
The best thing to do would be contacting creative tech support.
As for the booting problem, try going into rescue mode and running a clean up. See the sticky at the top of the board for info on rescue mode.

  • Nomad ZEN NX 3

I want to know if this is a good deal: Nomad Zen NX 30gb comes with USB Cable only for $96.
Is it possible to buy the installation CD or Down Load the driver from the website?
Will any Uni'versal AC Adapter work or does it have to be a Creative Nomad Zen Adapter?

It's not a bad deal, considering it's an older model and its equivalent 30GB Zen Xtra still goes for around $90 brand new.
You can download all of the necessary files from http://nomadworld.com/downloads/drivers/
It must be a 5V dc, .5A adapter; I'd just buy the one from Creative to be safe (check froogle for a better deal than the creative store)

  • How to move mp3 files from NOMAD ZEN JUKEBOX to PC???

    Hello there!
I have the creative nomad extra jukebox zen 30gb player. I have big trouble to move my mp3 to my pc! Is there any way to do this? I can do it with sync but some of the songs have the same name ( 0,02,03) and even when those songs are in folders, the software ( media source) dont recognize it this way-so it will skip the ones with same name and Ill loose some of the tracks. Is there any other way to move it all? or also to choose only certain mp3 files to be moved other software maybe? thank you very much!

Part numbers beginning with P are usually promotion items.
You can buy a stack of 'em & give to employees, grand openings, etc.
They are the same as regular retail iPod, just a different model number. http://www.apple.com/ipod/imaging/
Looks like you have a black, 30GB video iPod.
Here's a great place to start to learn how to use iTunes and the iPod.
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod101/
I went to preferences and set the music file address to the folder which contains all of my MP3 files. I
That will tell iTunes to use this folder. iTunes does not "watch" this folder to see if anything is added. You have to add it to the library yourself and iTunes will put it in this folder under Artist -> Album.
If you IMport a file, it will convert it to the format set in teh iTUnes prefs. If you Add a file, it will simply add it to the library in the format it already is.
    To get music into iTunes;
    - insert a CD and select Import.
    - click on iTunes Music Store and purchase songs.
    - go to iTunes menu - File -> Add (Folder or file) to library and select the file/folder.
    - Drag songs onto iTunes.
    To get music onto the iPod;
    - Plug it in.
Yeah, it really is that simple.
Easiest way to manage your library is to use iTunes.
Edit the ID3 tags, add delete songs and put them onto the iPod.

  • MP3Pro vs. Regular MP3 for a Nomad Zen Xt

I have a Nomad Zen Xtra and I use Musicmatch Jukebox to rip my CDs. Does anyone have any experience with this combination of hardware and software, and if so, would you recommend that I rip CDs in MP3Pro format at the highest quality (96) vs. ripping in straight MP3 format at 60 or so? Thanks.

MP3Pro works by layering two pieces of data, or something like this (Google will turn up the exact details). It uses a standard 64kbit/s section, and then the additional higher quality data on top of this. So an MP3Pro file will play on something that doesn't support it as a 64kbit/s MP3. So it doesn't play <EM>perfectly</EM>, but it will play some of the data.
Ironically the person who posted about this before in another thread failed to realise it was playing just a 64kbit/s MP3 (they thought it was the full MP3Pro file) so I'm not too sure I would trust their ability to judge sound quality Message Edited by SSR on 05-08-2005 06:56 PM

  • Problem starting up my Creative Nomad Jukebox Zen X

Ok well I have a 40GB Creative Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra, and have had it for about a year. Now earlier today i was attempting to connect it to my computer to copy songs onto it. The battery ran out and i was not able to do this.
When turning my player back on, it got stuck on the loading screen that says EAX and did not move from this. When it is on this screen, i can't turn it off.
I let the battery run out to see if it would start when i then charged it, yet the same happened, and it turns on as soon as i put in the charger it is again stuck on this one loading screen.
I have pressed reset as well, and this makes no difference, it just loads up to the same screen and doesn't move. Any help would be much appreciated, thank you!Message Edited by mattyb23 on 09-25-2005 06:23 PM

Go into rescue mode and run a disk cleanup.

  • Creative MediaSource doesnt recognize Nomad Zen X

    Hello,
I'm using the latest Creative MediaSource Version 3.30.2 and when I plug in and turn on my Nomad Zen Xtra it isn't recognized/listed in mediasource (however windows detects it, the latest drivers are installed and nomad explorer also detects it). What can I do to get MediaSource to recognize my player?
    Thanks...
    Foochuck

Did your previous MediaSource detect your Zen Xtra?
For MediaSource to detect your Zen Xtra, you need to install the MediaSource plugin for your Zen Xtra. It should be available from your product CD. Alternati'vely, you may download the following plugin from the product download site:
NOMAD JukeBox Type 2 Version .0.03 (English) Web Release
I am not sure whether the plugin in your product CD is newer than the one in the Web download. Do visit the Web download regularly for new updates to MediaSource and the plugins.

Creative MediaSource will not recognize Nomad Zen Xtra 30BG? Hello, I am new to this forum and very frustrated, I own?a 30Bg Zen Xtra and all of a sudden MediaSource will not allow the transfer of files. Here are my specs and things I've tried to no avail:
Firmware: .20.08 (is this the latest upgrade?)
    Software: 2.02.06
    O/S: Win XP, SP2
    Windows Media Player
Checking device manage it is recognized as a portable device, however it is not detected in WMP . Changed my USB permissions in the registry, downgraded WMP to version 0 (rebooted when prompted), upgraded the application software (uninstalled version 2.02.06?and rebooted?) upgraded?to version 5.20.23 as well installed the plug in, version 5.0.38, which now gives me and error while installing " setup is unable to detect?a supported product on your system, click retry....." tried the different USB ports on the pc as well as changing the cables. I do not know what else to do...any assistance will be greatly appreciated..thanks in advance.

Do you have the driver installed for the device? You can find that here.http://support.creative.com/download...ale=033&nPage= WMP is for MTP devices which the Xtra is not, There is a firmware update for the device HOWEVER updating to that firmware may just kill the player so I would not advise doing it since you have XP & you will be able to sync using MediaSource. Did you install the Creative Zen & Nomad Jukebox plug-in 5.00.22? Click on Show Details & read them before installing anything.
