Mp3 en AFTER EFFECTS

After effects cc - Mp3 and wav file
I am having a problem with audio in after effects cc. I have added an mp3 audio file (narration) which works and sounds fine, however as i add another track (the music) and press ram preview an audio errors occurs on the new track.
I have tried changing between wav and mp3 formats however i am still getting the same problems.
1. The audio jumps
2. The audio seems scrambled, parts of the track play when they shouldn't (for instance when the introduction should be playing the 1st verse plays instead)
I am using - 64bit windows home premium,
What is causing this and how do i fix it?
thanksYou have an issue with your audio hardware and AE is unable to get it to play and mix multiple audio streams in realtime. Update the driver, configure it properly. Otherwise apply a dummy audio effect to the layers to enforce rendering to memory instead of realtime playback.

I've just installed After Effects CS6 from the cloud. I run Photoshop, & Illustrator CS5.5 with no problems.
Here are the full errors it gives me on startup. I have never been able to successfully get After Effects to load.
"After Effects error: After Effects crashed previously attempting to initialize OpenGL. Consult the manufacturer of your graphics card for a compatiable OpenGL driver."
"After Effects error: Crash in progress. Last logged message was: <6632> <GPUManager> <2> Sniffer Result Code: 1"
I have an ATI Radeon 7850 card. Tried uninstalling the drivers completely and re-installing latest Catalyst drivers. Then tried uninstalling completely again and installing the beta 13.3 drivers. Still same crash error.
Running Windows 7 64 bit.
Here's my DXDiag system info:

Also, Noel Carboni over at the PS forum might have to say a word or two on the drivers... He recommends to not use 13.3 at all and his list of "safe" versions only includes 12.8... You also have an awful lot of CoDecs in your list, so you might consider uninstalling some of them/ the apps that introduced them. This may also help....

Edit in Adobe Audition Greyed Out in After Effects CC
The "Edit in Adobe Audition" is greyed out in After Effects CC. I imported an mp3 file into my composition, click on it and the link remains greyed out. The link works fine from Premiere Pro CC to Audtion.
Is there a setting somewhere I need to set?Figured it out. For whatever reason the .sesx file extension wasn't associated with Adobe Audition on my Windows 7 machine. I changed this by double clicking on an .sesx file and adding the association.

No Audio After Effects CC 2014 Trial
Hi there,
I am a neeeewbie so please forgive my lack of knowledge of jargon etc!
I have trailed after effects before, and just updated to a new trial before looking at purchasing.
I had an old composition from an older trial that I have now opened in the new After Effects CC 2014. Annnd no audio. On anything. My sound effects, my vids, nadda. All MP3 format, all worked in previous After Effects with no issues.
Tried to create a new composition with a completely different audio file and just no audio during RAM preview at all.
Any suggestions or advice?Oh dear
I have no idea haha!!!
Sorry

Hello I represent the graphic artists of the multimedia department at the USPTA (United States Professional Tennis Association). We do a show that airs on the Tennis Channel called, "On Court with USPTA" and "Sweet Spots".
We have just made the switch over to HD and are working on PCs (Dell Precision T3400 Work stations) I am running Adobe After Effects CS3 and I am running into several issues and problems with the software. I am doing full screen HD graphics, Lower thirds in HD, and even HD video overlayed with Graphics. Some or most have motion, and I even do 3D text in some. I am running into problems of the software crashing, locking up or bogging down reletivly quickly. I can barely RAM preview anything longer then 3 seconds and if it has audio you can just forget the RAM preview. I was wondering if those of us who do graphics on PCs if their is a way to speed up the software, or an update or even something in the prefences that could speed up it up and stop all the crash's I am getting.>and I have tried the multiprocessing and nothing changed.
MP won't do anything on such a system. Simply not enough RAM. Let truth be told, the only real environment that is suitable for MP as AE employs it, are 64bit operating systems (XP64, Vista 64).
As for your other issues - RAM previews can be extended by lowering the comp resolution to Half or Quarter. It's in the nature of the beast - only the frames that fit into RAM can be previewed and the larger the frame, the less of them fit. There is no way to circumvent that. Your only alternative is to enable the disk cache and have AE store rendered frames on your harddrive. this may allow you to use spacebar playback for some segments rather than having to build RAM previews again and again, but it hinges somewhat on the project structure and how working on other segments of the graphics may invalidate cached frames and layers.
Likewise, audio will consume additional memory and further reduce the available duration. It should however not completely screw this functionality, so I can only assume you have a config problem. Therefore check your system's audio settings and the prefs in AE. Ideally, the sample rates and things should match the audio format used in your project and all fancies such as Virtual Surround or acoustic effects be turned off to prevent delay. It also helps to work with uncompressed audio - even though AE has gotten better at handling MP3 et al, it still prefers PCM audio.
Lastly, some similar things do apply to certain compressed video formats - if they use MPEG and its derivatives, AE may need to conform it prior to use and this may cause further hiccups. Using different capture methods and CoDecs may help to prevent that.

Why after effects renders me with bad audio?
I rendered almost six times and the result of these renders is that audio takes me wrong, when I play it in Windows media audio don´t reproduce, and I reproduced a file alternative to this and reproduced it excellent, the worst is that when I play in VLC or Media Player the audio is ok, that's not the main problem, because for me it would reproduce any of the programs that it works, but I need to make this video with less size or weight and when I make this process finally the audio it´s completely damaged. This has never happened before. Please help me.
I'm not quite sure what you're saying. Are you saying that when you render from After Effects the audio sounds bad but the audio file that was in your composition doesn't sound that bad when you play it in other applications?
You aren't telling us what your original audio file is like or what your render settings are in After Effects, so we do not have a lot of information that we might need.
Is the sound okay when you do a RAM preview in AE?
What is the file format of the audio file?
What settings are you using to render out of AE?
If your original audio is an MP3 file, try transcoding it to a WAV and using that in AE. Then render an uncompressed file out of AE and use the Adobe Media Encoder to do your final delivery file. That's the proper workflow anyway. AE should not be used to make your final compressed version. -
Why is RAM preview crashing my After Effects CC 2014?
Using Windows 7 x64
After Effects CC 2014
I'm getting numerous crashes when using the RAM Preview.
Until my current project started getting more complicated all was good - no crashes. As I've added more assets to it, it's become very unstable.
When I click the RAM Preview button it'll either crash immediately, or succeed. If it actually starts, it's fine. But more often than not it just crashes the whole program immediately.
How do I solve this?
Is there a checklist I can use to check for possible issues?Right, right. Vague info I know, but I was hoping for a checklist of common culprits I could eliminate one by one. Very new to the world of video.
I'm running:
Windows 7 x64
Intel i7-3770K CPU @ 3.5GHz
32GB RAM
GeForce GTX 780
Doing a 720p project, but using mainly 1080p footage.
Video files used are .MP4 and .MTS format.
Using various effects. Mostly simple stuff.
Plenty of sound effects and music as well. All .WAV format. No MP3's (I heard AE hates MP3 format).
I don't get any crash info. The entire program freezes until I kill it manually. -
After Effects warning: An invalid track index
Hello, I am running CC 2014 on Windows 7.
I have a project with a significant amount of basic animation (just 2D scale and position keyframing), and while working on adding sound effects, I keep getting this error when I try to RAM preview: "After Effects: BE: An invalid track index has been added to the sequence."
If I hit ok, the preview plays, but with no audio.
Any ideas what to do? I've tried clicking tracks on and off, and it does help, but very inconsistantly to where I can't pin point the source of the problem. There's one track that when turned on, I do NOT get the error, and when turned off, or deleted, I DO get the error. This just baffles me.
Thanks for any help-- I'm on a tight deadline and really need to work through this ASAP.You have two, and perhaps three, problems going on:
1) Don't use mp3 audio in AE. Just don't. It has NEVER worked properly, and problems rear their ugly heads only intermittently... like when you time-remap it. Convert mp3's to lossless audio files like wav or aiff.
2) Don't Time Remap audio and expect it to work properly when you render. It's better to export out the time-remapped audio as a wav or aiff, reimport and use the new audio clip when rendering. Or just export it and use it in a video editing application along with your animations from AE.
3) FORTY-NINE layers of audio? That's crazy in AE! AE stinks at audio! It's Hell On Earth to mix all those tracks in AE!
I bet you can find a different application to put all those tracks together with the video. I bet you can figure out an alternate workflow. And you should. The best way to use audio in AE is as a reference for timing your animations. I use that strategy when I'm working on my stuff, and when I render, I don't render an audio track... not even when it's lip-sync audio! I match up everything in a video editing application, and I have never, EVER had a problem. Not once. You can find a different application for that audio work -- now go find it. -
exporting layers of audio from After Effects cs6 to Premiere / or Audition? Is this possible?
Help - I have an After effects project with multiple layered files and want to copy these to Premiere / Audition. For example I know if you select multiple video files from After Effects these can be pasted straight into Premiere intact - but this does not work with audio. I want to take existing layered audio files from After Effects to Audition / or Premiere but can't copy and paste - is there a simple solution for this?Hi thanks Dave for responding - yes that could work as a 'workaround' - I was hoping there would be a way I can keep the existing independent audio layers and corresponding audio levels from After Effects- in the same way I can copy and paste video files from After Effects to Premiere - rather than exporting a flattened AIFF /WAV from After Effects.
This would then allow me a lot more control working on the final edit - especially as currently a lot of the audio layers overlap. It does seem there is no simple solution for this, so otherwise I can do what you suggest - and 'stagger all the audio files' in sequence so they do not overlap on the timeline and then when I import the flattened exported AIFF file into Audition/ Premeire / I then can cut it up again and recreate the overlaps. Was hoping there might be a simple copy + paste method or other 'export method' but I guess this is simply not possible. It would save me about 7 hours of work, but not the end of the world I guess
One final point - some of the audio clips are .mp3s but the majority are WAVS, hopefully this should not create any issues on the export.
thanks again for your help, if you or anyone has any other solution pls let me know
Best

Hello, I am using Adobe After Effects to create some Youtube videos for my music. I have a 4 minute song I've created, and have added 6 layers of audio spectrum, as well as glows, and a few other minor effects. I'm newer to the program, but I still do not understand how the estimated time to render 6,125 frames is 9 HOURS?
My computer: Dell Optiplex 760
Intel(R) Core 2 Duo CPU - E7200 @ 2.53GHz
Ram: 8 GB
System: 64-bit
Hard Drive: 250GB
The Rendering process is set on multi-process rendering. It is using 71% of 8GB ram constantly.
I am rendering my 4 minute song, along with the 6 layers of audio spectrum, glows, and other effects, along with 2 small text layers.
This is going into MPEG4 format, with "Best Settings".
I have tried .FLV, .MPEG4, .H261, and .MOV and they all have the same estimated time for 6,125 frames.
Could anyone provide me any advice? I need to render and finalize this composition, then upload it to youtube. So it would be great to have decent quality, as well as GOOD sound quality.
Thank you!Don't use compressed audio -- change ac3's, aac's or mp3's to wav or aiff.
Turn off the multiprocessing--it probably isn't helping one bit, and you may have it set up wrong, too.
Render to a quicktime movie in Animation, Photo JPEG or PNG codecs. Compress later
Just before bedtime, hit the Render button, have a nice night's sleep, and see how things are doing in the morning.
Compress to mp4 using Adobe Media Encoder.
And FYI: things that you call "minor effects" may in reality be quite processor-intensive, meaning AE has to work harder, meaning it'll take a good deal of rendering time.
AE isn't a video editor. It's an effects, motion graphics and compositing application. It doesn't work like a video editor. You can't expect it to react or perform like a video editor. -
1)i have no wave lengths when i drag in a song
2)when i go to render it keeps rendering and when i go to click the render button again for sound it just stops and nothing happens
3)my audio panel on the right with the volume meters seems to be frozen/not switched on?
4) im using mp3 files but i want to use this format if possible as thats the format i mostly deal with.
any help why my audio doesnt work would be much appreciated! im new to after effects and trying to get the basics eg audio for starters.help in simple terms would be great!stepheng24 wrote:

Getting started with After Effects
That's the best resource I know of for beginners in AE. The resources cover audio previews and LOTS of other things that'll bite your butt if you don't know them.
For testing purposes, try transcoding your file to WAV before you import it to AE to eliminate any possible issues.
Then:
1. Where are you looking for "wave lengths" after dragging in your song? If you put your song in a composition, select the audio layer, and press LL on your keyboard, do you see waveforms then?
2. What, exact, steps are you taking here? Where are you going to render? What buttons are you pressing?
3. Screenshot please
4. No. Use WAV files - at least for troubleshooting purposes. -
After Effects 6.5 & 7 crashes when I import audio...
hey guyz,
help me...
i'm havin a prob.. When i import mp3/audio in after effects 6.5 & 7...d software crashes and the error msg is here :
" After Effects can't continue: sorry, After Effects has crashed. See www.adobe.com/support/products/aftereffects.html for known issues. If you still can't resolve the issue, please contact Adobe Technical Support (2). (0::42)"
plzzz reply & tell me solutionMost importantly: what is the source of the MP§ file and its internal structure? Is it copyrighted? Is it surround/ multichannel? Is it a captured web radio stream? Is it from an online store? Does it use variable bit rates? There's a number of things that could be the reason... That aside, Andrew is right: convert the file to a wave file e.g. using Winamp's disk writer module. Even if you could import the MP3 directly into AE, there's always the chance it may sound garbage, due to to way how AE handles such compressed audio, especially in versions prior to CS3.

Optimizing After Effects Performance/ Rendering Speed for large projects
Problem:
My after effects is extremely slow and i want to use an external harddrive to increase the speed temporarily until i can afford to change the internal hard drive. i also have other video production software like Cinema 4D, Final Cut Pro, Premiere Pro, Cheetah 3D, etc.
Macbook pro with the following specs:
Processor 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce 320M 256 MB (Available space approx 91.GB)
Software OS X 10.8.5 (12F45)
Action:
i have set my Disk Cache to use the 500GB Gtech firewire external hardrive in After Effects Preferences
Issue: After effects still slow
Recommendation From expert: Change Internal Hard Drive to 512 GB SSD HARD DRIVE
Question: How can i optimize After effects with the current hard drive space i have right now?Thank you. As i stated earlier i am new to after effects and video editing in general so this is a learning process for me. i have also realized that i have soo much going in the layer that i need to clean up and prerender as you said. Also one of the biggest mistake i am making is with the "composed individual lyric effect" i created. As i said earlier, i masked the lyrics to audio spectrum and choose the mp3 song in other to make the effect active, but since i am working on the lyric composition individually i did not crop the yellow bar in the workframe to the exact part of the lyric that applies to the song. hence leaving me with 100+ of words with each having the full length of the song in each individual composition i created in the master layer, in addition to the spin fx effect that i have not prerendered. After effects is trying to render alll these together basically. The extremely slow rendering procesing time arose when i combined all individual lyric effect into the layer while also implementing typography tricks like in the same layer.
Basically, my question is should i reduce the frame work in each lyric composition to the exact section of the song that applies, and will this improve the overall rendering time in the master layer and solve my problem?
Also should i peform my typography skill like position, scaling rotation and so on in the individual layer/composition of the lyric effect i made in order to further save rendering time in the master layer? -
No Audio for Adobe After Effects CS4?
Hi, I'm an Adobe After Effects Enthusiast and I'm a bit new to After Effects, but I have a problem:
When I import audio files such as .mp3 and .wav, I cannot hear them whatsoever. The area in which it takes place in the composition shows, but no sound comes out, even if I turn my speakers to full blast (Not recommended). I was wondering if anyone out there knows how to fix this, because audio is a very important key feature of Movies/ Graphics.
Thanks for your help.http://forums.adobe.com/thread/423108?tstart=0
If that doesn't solve it and you may experience technical or configuration problems, please provide more details about your computer.
