MP4 export

Hello I have a client that can't install QuickTime. They have asked me to re send them video work we have done for them as an MP3 or MP4, is this possible in Premier Pro.
Thank you
Walter

MP3 is sound only (as far as I know) but MP4 export is certainly possible

  • Is the MP4 export in Premiere CS6 better than in CS3 ?

I am thinking of upgrading from CS3 to CS6 Premiere Pro.
The CS3 exporting MP4 is not that good, and I actually find Sony Vegas does a better job.  Is the Premiere Pro export in CS6 better than in CS3?
Also, are there any issues importing CS3 projects into CS6  ?

    I upgraded from CS3 to CS6.
The H.264 (MP4) exports are so much better it is amazing. There used to be tutorials on how to get good YouTube videos. Now we just export to a YouTube (or Vimeo) preset in HD and it shows up darn near perfect.
I can import CS3 projects into CS6 without a problem.

  • Keyboard nonresponsive in mp4 export dialoge box

    Hi,
When I go to export an MP4 file, the keyboard doesn't do anything at the MP4 export box (I can't type new numbers in). I can click and select the values and such but pressing buttons on the keyboard doesn't do anything. Esc and enter do nothing as well. Has anyone heard of this before? I need to change the values in the boxes for different export settings.

Hello, does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

  • PP CS5.5 FLV To MP4 Export Issues / Problems

I just upgraded from Production Premium CS5 to CS5.5. I do a fair amount of converting/exporting of imported FLV files (downloaded from internet news sites) to H.264/AAC w/ MP4 wrappers using Premiere Pro (PP) and Adobe Media Encoder (AME). My equipment is a 1+ yr. old HP Win 7 Pro w/ an Intel i970 Quadcore, 12 Gb RAM and MSI nVidia GTX 470 GPU. I have never experienced any queue or export issues w/ CS5 (at least that I noticed), but I am experiencing noticeably degraded queue export and direct export problems with these files in CS5.5.
Description: (1) The queue export times for the exact same imported FLV clip(s) using the exact same sequence settings and H.264/MP4 export settings are noticeably slower in CS5.5 (sometimes 2x, depending on the export settings, e.g. using maximum render quality) than in CS5; (2) My MSI Afterburner GPU monitoring software indicates 5-10% GPU usage during queue/export in CS5, while indicating 0% GPU usage (flatline) in CS5.5; and (3) When I attempt to direct export these files using CS5.5 I get the following error message: "The source and output audio channels are not compatible or a conversion does not exist."
I suspect that it may have something to do with "conforming" anomalies when the FLV file is imported into PP, but I would put that squarely in the category of rank speculation on my part.
Has anyone experienced the same or similar problems or have any insight into what may be the problem(s)? Of course, thanks for any help/insight you can provide.
    Jim

What do you mean by a better routine?
A better compression routine than H.264.
Is the quality better than H.264?
    Yes.
Does this use an MOV wrapper?
    Yes.
Also, would it import correctly into PPro?
    Yes.
we would import files into PPro exported out of FCP and would get a red pixelated glitch during preview and export. Does this codec solve this problem as well if it is an MOV wrapper?
I don't know anything about FCP.
Sorry for all the questions, just want to get things right before diving into a new codec.
    It's harmless, and free.
Download it and run some tests.

  • H.264 mp4 Export Washed Out

I can't seem to export an H.264 video without it being washed out. Lower contrast, lower saturation, very noticeable. As if there's a hidden conversion to rec709 or some such that I can't turn off.
    PC
    Premiere Pro CC
Exporting from Premiere Pro through Media Encoder to H.264 in an MP4 container.
Video appears the same in VLC, QuickTime, and on Vimeo.
I've looked and looked and all the solutions I've seen relate to H.264 within a MOV container. Nothing I've seen works.
Other codecs play back as expected. Definitely not a driver issue.
    This is infuriating. Thoughts?

Tried exporting a 10-bit DNxHD and taking it through DaVinci Resolve, exporting an H.264 (mov) using Data Levels, and it exports and plays correctly. As a test, I ran this file through Media Encoder reconverting to H.264 (mp4) and the result plays correctly (at data levels).
This seems to confirm that Premiere Pro / Media Encoder by default (and without an option to change it) export H.264 with video levels. In a day when web video trumps television, it seems at the very least there would be an option to export using data and not video levels, especially when Vimeo and YouTube both request H.264 files. Am I missing something obvious, or this completely retarded?

  • Media Encoder is not producing sharp .mp4 exports, any help please?

Hi all, I've been trying for a while now to export my After Effects CC 2014 project using Media Encoder CC 2014 as a MP4 file. I've chosen 'match source' settings, VBR 2 pass with various bitrates (even extremely high bitrate values) but my video is still not sharp. I've experimented with making the frame rate also higher but that doesn't make a difference. I've also tried using the 'Maximum render quality' option but that also doesn't help.
In the 'output' preview, the images look sharp like in the original project. But I can't get this in my final file. Anyone know why? Thank you very much.
    Here are my settings:

MPEG compression (h.264 is MPEG) has a limited color space, compresses color, and has specific frame sizes that are required. Also, your media player has limitations and scaling problems. So do web pages. Nothing is perfect. The green text against the bluish background is going to look bad when you throw in compression artifacts from color and the fringes around the green text against the white background are also color compression artifacts. The solution is to first, modify the design to colors that work. You have to be sensitive to the color requirements of the space you are working in wither it is TV, WEB, Print or any other media. Most of these problems are color compression artifacts caused by the limited color space and limitations of MPEG compression.
The best hope for a design like this test to work is to first, make sure that your output is a legal h.264 size, second choose colors that will work against white backgrounds, third render a lossless master and finally, use that lossless master as the source for your MPEG compression in AME. You also make sure that your media player is not scaling the video.
If you absolutely have to have the video 392 X 640 then you are going to have resizing artifacts with H.264. You either have to accept that or change design of the web page and the HTML 5 code for the player. You also need to consider HR displays like the Retina displays on Macs or 4K displays on Windows machines or the displays on new mobile devices because they are going to want to see video and images that are 2X as big as a standard display. You'll also have to code for HR displays in your HTML. If this were my project I would make the master comp the nearest 2X the size needed for a standard web page that was a supported h.264 frame size, carefully choose my colors and design with known limitations in mind, render a lossless master in 10 bit or better 444 color, then send that to AME for compression. The web page would then be designed and the player coded with the video size taken into consideration.

  • Importing HD footage mov./mp4 export to hd

When importing HD mov.mp4 or hddvds, once the file goes into the timeline the resolution softens, when exporting to play on DVD player the playback does not look HD, can someone help?

    roarusafrank wrote:
maybe its SD, however the resolution of that dvd looks nice on a dvd player, however when I import that dvd into PP and make a couple of edit then export to media and burn on toast the quality playback does not look as crisp on the dvd player? Im not sure if importing incorrect or exporting?
First, you are compressing HD to DVD, losing quality in the process, then you edit this compressed material again and need to compress again, which loses quality for the second time. That is called generation loss. Each time you encode/compress you lose quality. Do your edits and only when completely finished, encode/compress to DVD.
Second, using toast instead of DVD can also deteriorate quality (depends a bit on your toaster).

  • Flash CC Pro - "HD MP4 Export"?

I've been picking bits up here and there saying it's possible to Export/Publish HD MP4 - makes no sense for just vector content, of course.
I can't see HD options in any of the preferences - I suppose they become available when exporting/publishing timeline'd video content?

  • Unwanted raw audio track in MP4 export - how to avoid?

    Dear everyone,
I recently had some trouble with audio in an iMovie project and exported it to GarageBand, where I did all the audio post production (= three additional audio tracks with voice over, music etc).
Everything went fine, and I exported the GarageBand project using "Share" "Export Movie to Disc" using the "Full Quality" settings to retain the original movie quality.
    Now here's the odd thing:
The resulting MP4 file has two soundtracks. Soundtrack 1 is the original, uncompressed sound from the movie's DV clips, soundtrack 2 is the mixdown audio track from GarageBand.
I have tried several playback devices (e.g. a Samsung TV), and it will default to the original track, which I do not want.
    Long story short:
How do I get rid of the unwanted original audio track in the MP4 file exported from GarageBand? Can I get rid of it right in GarageBand, or would I need QuickTime Pro or another tool to do it later?
(Again, to clarify: The exported MP4 has two separate audio tracks (shown e.g. as "English 1", "English 2" on a USC-capable TV set. I need to get rif od the raw audio track 1.)
    Thanks.

Even the most verbose description has room for misunderstandings.
    So, to clarify:
I do actually use the original audio in the GarageBand project. In some clips, it is muted, in some, I add fades.
This is all fine and dandy and part of the mixed, mastered audio - which is exactly as I want it when exporting said MP4/MOV file for example to iDVD. The DVD has the proper soundtrack, and only that.
The problem is that in addition to this correct, GB-mastered audio, I get the totally raw audio as a separate audio track, which is per default played by a Samsung TV's internal MP4 playback engine or a WD TV.
(And I mean "audio track" in the context of the MP4 file, not as in "a GarageBand audio track".)
I hope that clarifies the issue.
    Thanks

  • MP4 exported from Premiere Pro CS6 runs choppy on some computers . . .

I have a video clip that was rendered as a .mov file in AfterFX CS6.  I uploaded it to youtube exported as a 1080p HD MP4 (target bitrate 12, max bitrate 12, VBR, 2-pass) that runs OK on my computer at any resolution, and runs OK on my iPad and 47" TV, but runs choppy on my laptop, and a friend's computer.  My computer is a Dell running a Haswell i7, with 24GB of memory and an Nvidia Quadro 2000 video card.  My iPad is Gen 4, my laptop is a Lenovo with i5 cpu and 4GB ram, and my friend is running a first generation i7 920 (overclocked) with 12GB of ram.  On my computer and iPad, http://youtu.be/lMg-YsVMZHg runs smoothly at any resolution, and the same file runs smoothly on my 47" LED TV from a USB 2 thumb drive.  It runs choppy and stutters on my laptop and my friend's machine at even low res.  The same file runs a lot smoother with some very slight judder when plugging the thumb drive directly into my laptop and running full screen.  What suggestions do you have?  Is this a bitrate problem, and what should work with all machines?
    Thanks.
    Gary Silverstein

The tutorials are downloaded as a zip file then extracted; I don't actually screen record the tutorials while streaming or anything.  I guess I couldn't say if variable frame rate was used when they recorded the tutorials, but the media I have shows up as 30fps as opposed to some sort of non-traditional frame rate that often shows up when recording with something at a variable frame rate (like the stock iPhone video camera app).

  • Captivate 6 MP4 export freezes AFTER patch files from Support...

    Hello,
I am trying to publish a MP4, progressive file. When 6 first came out it would not export at all. Last Friday I had support help me with the latest patch files that were supposed to solve this. While I can publish the multi-slide video now it freezes a couple seconds in. The audio carries on without an issue and the slide times are holding. I am using an f4v file -> into Captivate 6 -> timing the slides to the video -> Publishing an MP4, progressive file. I have used 5.5 for this work flow without any problems. Any ideas?
    Thanks,

    Vikram,
There is no message at all. Loading, error, connection failure, etc. The video portion just freezes. I spent a couple hours with a Cp expert on the support chat and he gave up and said to go back to Cp 5.5. I only have one copy of 5.5 due to 6 coming out. I have 6 copies of a program that doesn't work. Any further advice would be great. Here is my work flow:
Import Power Point slides -> Set timing of the slides to match the video -> Import a F4V file and spread it over multiple slides -> make sure project length matches video length -> publish from Cp 6 under MP4 settings. Once it finishes the Publish it opens the video and then the slides play fine but the video freezes a couple seconds in. The kicker is that the audio plays fine. If I click in the play bar at any point it will give a freeze frame of the video, the audio will play from that point, but it will not show the video. I hope that makes sense...
    Thanks,
    Aaron

  • IMovie .mp4 export crapping out at about 20 gigs

We're producing 12 corporate videos from DV video files ranging in size from 6 gig to 30 gig.
When the smaller files are exported to .mp4 from iMovie 08, things go fine. But, when the larger files are exported, they fail at around 20 gig. Is there a file size limitation in iMovie, or is this more likely to be an issue of available RAM. Our 500 gig drive has 250 gigs of free space on it.
The job is being done on a MacBook.
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for the note.
I have a query to my shooter to check on the RAM thing. I suspect he is short on RAM.
Yes, the 30 gig is DV. The .mp4 files run about 2 gig for 6 gigs of DV. We intend to compress each 2 hour DV onto a single DVD.
I would do it on my own 2 gig MacBook, but my iMovie 08 won't recognize his project files for some reason. I would do it on my G5 dual, but it's loaded with iMovie 04, which doesn't load his completed timelines - it just loads the clips randomly in the clip pane. Why my 04 recognizes the files and 08 doesn't, I have no idea. It's a huge pain in the neck.
I'd buy iLife right now by download for my G5, but it only seems to be available for ground shipping (duh!).
    I'm very frustrated with this.

  • MP4 Export Problems- Not in sync, choppy video

    First things first:
    Dell XPS
    Intel Quad Core Q9400 2.66
2GB RAM (I'm thinking this could be the problem, I've got 6GB more on order)
    Geforce GTX 280 1GB
    Windows 7 Beta
When I export a project that is only 1:30 long, it ends up being 30:00 long after AME gets done with it.  This doesn't happen when I export as F4V, just with MPEG4 so far.  The audio plays straight through, and only lasts 1:30, but the video lags and is so chunky that it takes a half hour.  Also, WMP doesn't have the Codec to play the file at all, but it's been opening in QT.
I'm a total newb with Premiere and have been thrust into it because there is no one else, so I may be missing something that would be painfully obvious to most people who are familiar w/ Premiere.
I've played with the export settings but haven't been able to fix the issue by trial and error.  So far I've changed the Bitrate, resolution, Frame Rate, Profile, Level, and multiplexer setting (3GPP and MPEG4).  I'm using the DV-NTSC Standard 48 kHz preset, and the source content is in .mov.
I'm trying to upload videos to Facebook, but they don't accept .f4v, only .flv.  I could try a completely different format, but at some point I need to figure this out, and other formats might have similar problems anyways.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give!

What are your source Assets, and how is your Project/Sequence(s) set up?
For the disparity in your runtime and the Export's runtime, my first thought would be a Clip way out at the end of your Sequence, an "orphan," and likely forgotten. Just to check, hit the "\" (Backslash) key to view your entire Timeline. Anything out at the very end. What does the Runtime indicator show, under the Program Monitor?
Encore (ships with PrPro) can Export/Burn to FLV. That should satisfy the requirement for that format.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
