MPRT - Sign 3-party dlls?

Hi,
I am currently executing the "Microsoft Platform Ready Test Tool for Windows Server 2012 R2 - Version 4.6.8000".
The test fails at:
Test case/Verification: TC2.3 - All binaries and installers must be Authenticode signed
All of my files are signed, except a few 3-pary dlls:
Aspose.Words.dll
Common.Logging.dll
FirebirdSql.Data.FirebirdClient.dll
Spring.Aop.dll
Spring.Core.dll
libeay32.dll
libssl32.dll
ssleay32.dll
I'm not sure what to do with these files:
1. Sign them with my own certificate (Even thought they are 3-party and not compiled by our company).
2. Try to get a signed version of the dll from the vendor.
3. Simply upload the failed test.
The log suggests to write a waiver. Where do I get this document and do I have to upload it with the failed test?

Hello,
The tool prompts and links to the waiver document, as well as the Windows Server Logo Program website, where you can also download the waiver document.
Completely fill out the waiver doc, indicating as above that all product binaries are signed, and list all failing 3rd party binaries along with their respective owners.
If this is the only issue, and no other mandated test cases fail or crashes occur, etc, then you may upload your failing test results and mail the waiver as indicated in waiver doc.
It is best to mail a copy of the test results along with waiver.
Once waiver is reviewed, and granted, your test will be marked as Pass.
Hope this helps,

  • Error accessing method in 3rd party dll

already asked for help a few weeks ago but no one answered and i still wasn't able to figure out what the problem...
i have a 3rd party dll and im trying to access some methods (USING JNI)- i have no problem accessing methods with no parameters and they work fine but a method with parameters just wwont work.
i guess that its something with my syntax - probably incorrect data type when converting from java type to native type...
i dont have any previous expirience with c so help would be appriciated...
    heres my java code:
    package pavel2.javay;

  • Where is the right path to deploy third party DLL? "Support Files"?

    Hi, After Effetcs developers:-)
Here is question about install path of DLL for After Effects plug-in.
I'm developing Effects plug-in run with CUDA, so I have to deploy third party DLL to client PC.
So where is the right path to put DLL such as cudart32_30_14.dll?
I think it's under "Support Files", because my plug-in runs with cudart32_30_14.dll
    in "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CS4\Support Files"
    Am I right?

    well... that depends.
when you rely on an external library, the external dll is expected to be somewhere along the path, as it appears in the command prompt.
places like win32, and sxs folders are in that path.
you could also put the support dll in the same folder as your plug-in. any process automatically includes it's own directory in the search path.
if you don't want to put it in any of these pre-set locations, then you have to program the path into the dll loading function.
if you choose to do that, you can put the support dll anywhere you like.

  • How to use Third Party DLL in Adobe Illustrator Plug In

    Hi Everyone,
I want to design plug-in for Adobe illustrator CS6(64 bit). As first step I am referring sample plug ins from ../SDK/SampleCode. I am not getting how to use third party DLL in plug in.
Please let me know how to refer C# DLL in illustrator plug in.
    Thanks in advance.

There's no C# API for the Illustrator SDK, so your plugin must be C++ at the very least. That said, you can probably write a bridge if you need to call out to a C# library/DLL.

  • Add third party dll to solution

In my solution/web part, I used a third party dll (newtonsoft.json.dll). I have added the dll to the solution and project level. I do not see the dll when I tried to add a reference. Please see the attached screen shot. Please let me know what is the correct
way to add a third party dll to a SharePoint solution/web part. Thanks lot.

    (1) I already tried to add the dll from the .NET Framwork 4.5 folder. Then reference the dll from disk location. However, I got a "File not found exception" error.
    (2) I search on the web, some people suggest to add the dll as part of the solution. So I added the dll to the solution and project as "exiting item". However, I cannot reference to dll what is in the solution/project (please see my early
    post).

  • How to add third party dll in our installer using application builder?

    Hello friends,
I have one application (VI) which is using some third party dll of protocol and now I want to make a installer which should install dll along with application exe. Please suggest the way ..
    Thanks
    Solved!

    Hi,
I placed it in project file and included it in category of "Always Included" in exe creation. Then after i created installer with needed NI drivers. But this installer didn't registered the dlls in project file. I registered it manually using regsvr32 command..
Any help to do it automatically during installation..
To brief my words, I need help to understand the process of third party dll registration during installation of installer created by application builder..

  • Creating signed AcroPdfLib etc Dlls

    Hi,
I'm attempting to use the Adobe Activex controls to view PDFs in a winforms project (actually WPF, but I'm willing to use the winforms host).
The problem I've run into is that the project I'm using this in is signed, and so I need to sign the following DLLs to avoid strong name show-stoppers when building:
    AxInterop.AcroPDFLib.dll, Interop.Acrobat.dll and Interop.AcroPDFLib.dll
I can't seem to find the OCX files corresponding to these anywhere (apparently if these are available you can create signed versions of the DLLs).
Does anybody know where I can get hold of these?
    Thanks,
    Andrew

The error you're seeing ("SSL_ERROR_UNKNOWN_CA_ALERT") is, I think, logged by Web Server when the user-agent tries to present a certificate signed/created by a non-trusted CA.
Does your browser have a self-signed certificate installed?
I believe Bill Nelson (one of the author's of the WS7 book) had a howto written about how to create and install a self-signed cert for WS6.1, but I can't find it. The certutil docs from Mozilla.org may be helpful though:
    http://www.mozilla.org/projects/security/pki/nss/tools/certutil.html
and I found this howto describing how to create the cert and install it in WS6.1, but using OpenSSL instead of certutil:
    http://www.seedsofgenius.com/pdf/wp6.pdf
You COULD use the admin tools of WS7 to create a certificate database, create a self-signed cert, install it in the database, and move the cert8.db and key3.db files fromt he WS7 install into the WS6 install, then use the admin tools as appropriate to assign the certs to the appropriate listen sockets.
Honestly, though, you could also just use WS7.

I have added the Telerik.web.UI dll in the Reference and is refered from the GAC. I have build the solution and grid works fine in my local dev environment.

How to achieve this? If possible, please elaborate the steps.

    Hi Mahindrakar,
I have used the right name of the dll in my code. I didn't understand, what you are saying about readme file ?

  • Thrid party DLL function call.

    Hello,
I am a programming novice trying to learn more about Java. I am currently working on a project for my employer (a side project really) that is used in generating some specific alpha-numeric codes. Actually, I am re-writing an existing program into Java as a personal exercise for myself but it may have some useful applications down the line.
This project requires me to use a 3rd party DLL function call. I have been trying to follow through the process of using the JNI interface, however, I believe that I need to create a wrapper DLL to handle the function call. Does anyone know how to do this or can they point me in the right direction? I believe the 3rd party DLL was written in C++ but that's all I know at this point.
    Any help is appreciated.
    TIA

To those of you who will look this topic up and wonder how I was able to do that here:
(using Visual C++ for the example)
    3rd party DLL : Key32.dll
    wrapper DLL: Key32Liaise.dll
    SWIG interface: Key32Liaise.i
    wrapper class: Key32Liaise
    1) Make reference to your external function call as if it were a class method. The class name should be that of your "wrapper" class. (e.g. Key32Liaise.getHashCode() ) I like to call the wrapper class the "laise" class because it acts as the go-between.
    2) Download SWIG. Create your interface file and run the command: swig -java -shadow -c++ Key32Liaise.i This will generate Key32Liaise.java shadow class and Key32Liaise_wrap.cxx wrapper code.
    3) Compile the Java code into Class files and generate a header file for the wrapper class (i.e. javah Key32Liaise). You will need this header file even though the SWIG site doesn't mention this.
    4) Open VC++ and open a new project file Key32Liaise to create a DLL. Write the C++ code that calls up the function from the Key32.dll file. You will have to look that up from the MSDN site...too much to put down here.
    5) Include the appropriate files and complile the wrapper DLL.
    Hope that make sense!!!

  • SharePoint Timer Jobs and 3rd Party DLLs

I have a custom built timer job that references a third party DLL.  Currently, I have the 3rd party DLL stored in the GAC along with the timer job and all works fine.  Our client however, does not want the third party DLL in the GAC.  As such
I want to put it in the bin folder associated with the SharePoint Central admin port.
When I deploy the solution, I do see that the third party DLL was copied to the bin folder.  I did restart the SharePoint timer service. When the timer job runs, it complains that it cannot find the third party DLL.
Is it possible for a timer job running in the GAC to access DLLs in the bin folder?  If so, do I need to modify CAS policies in order for it to work?
    Saul

CAS policies are deprecated (and all solutions in 2013 are Full Trust). I believe the DLL needs to be in the GAC.

  • Deployment of Java App with 3rd party dll

    Hi,
I am developing one application on windows environment. I am using netbeans 6.0 as my IDE. in this application I have to use 3rd party dll along with one 3rd party jar library. this jar library hides all the implementation of the native methods. So i don't have to use native methods in my application directly which means that I just need to call the java classes of the vendors jar library. I am able to execute the application in Netbeans. but I am not able to deploy the application. I want to know that how should i deploy my application which will be simple jar with vendors library and the dlls, so that user just have to run the application just through the command line( java -jar myapp.jar)

no you didn't understood the question. Wrong.
    I understood the question.
You however didn't understand the response.
So let me expand on it.
The library consists of java and dlls. There is absolutely no way that it will run on a client box without the dlls. So they must be delivered in some way.
Now I suppose they could have encrypted/packed the dlls in some fashion but that isn't likely. And if it is then the java code of the library is responsible for loading them and there will be nothing you can do about it.
    Excluding that.....
Shared libraries can ONLY be loaded via one of the following methods.
    1. The dlls must be in the PATH environment of the application
    2. The path must be explicitly provided in the application.
For the libraries you have one of the following will be true
    1. The dlls must be in the PATH environment of the application
    2. The path must be explicitly provided from your code and passed to the library code.
    3. You must explicitly load the dlls in your code and hope that the library code is smart enough to deal with it.
For option 2 the library must provide a method for you to pass a path.
For option 3 the library code must be written to support this.
For option 1 you will need to modify the client in some way to provide for the PATH (which you can do in various ways, none of which have anything to do with Java specifically although 'WebStart' or whatever it is called might do it.)

  • Code Signing for 3rd Party DLLs in MPR certfication

    Dear Team,
I am currently performing MPR test with my Web Application using Windows Server 2012 R2 platform.
While verifiying test results, i got failed in the validating digital signature for 3rd party binaries(DLL).
The DLLs are Ajaxcontroltoolkit.dll, interop.Excel.dll etc.,
Whether Signed DLLs are exists for Ajax Libraries?? If Signed DLLs exists for Ajax Libraries, is it advisable to request Microsoft support team for getting Signed DLL through mail? (or)
Can i include this point as a waiver in document during test results submission??
Regarding Interop DLL's is it advisable to include DLL's in waiver request document??
    Kindly review and suggest comments

    Hello,
When an MPR Test fails due only to 3rd party binaries, please create a Test Results Package, upload to MPR site, complete and send a waiver for review.
List all failing binaries in the waiver, grouping by their respective owner.
    Thank you,

    Hi,
