MRP Type P1 & Lot size PK

Dear All,
This is REM scenario,
Client is going scheduling agreements
material master Settings
MRP Type - P1
Planning time fence - 10
Lot Size - PK
Procurement type - F
GR Processing time - 2 days, No plad delevery time maintained.
in planning calendar we are going with only one day as Friday
and we made previous day is working day if friday is holiday.
After MRP system is proposing dates for schedule lines as
16/06/2010 ( wednesday ) Rescheduling date as 07/06/2010 ( Monday ) ( Rescheduling in i.e 10 )
How system is proposing this dates

Hi ,
Bring process forward (reschedule in)
Within this rescheduling horizon, the net requirements calculation checks whether, after a requirement, a firmed receipt exists, which can be used to cover this requirement. Then the system displays a rescheduling date as well as the exception message Bring process forward for this receipt. The net requirements calculation then uses this receipt and the system will only create another procurement proposal if the receipt quantity is not sufficient to cover the complete requirement. Several firmed receipts can be used to cover one requirement.
It does not take in to account the GR processing time and it is purely based on the stock requirement date , parameters in Procurement and Scheduling in the Material Master
So it will consume the requirement backward scheduling and bring the Process forward.
Kumar which strategy are you using ? scheduling agreement is of weekly , daily or monthly bucket ?
How many days SA bring to Production and How many days SA for forecast you are doing ?
Are you using any Program to convert these SA in to PIR and upload ( using any program ) .

Jayavimal

• MRP Settings - Minimum Lot size / Saftey stock /Lot Size

Hi
I am confused about some of the settings , We set M1(Monthly lot size ) and PD MRP type settings, We maintained the Minimum lot size as 2500 lb and the safety stock as 300.
I tested by changing the Parameters , I am confused.
Please clarify me
Did MRP is going to suggest the PR once if the stock went below 300 ?
Did MRP is going to wait for the PIR to get accumulate the Minimum lot size settings ?
What will happend if the time bound is beyond a month ?
Please help me to understand the concept
Thanks

Hi,
Use tcode OWD1 to create rounding profile.
Select create icon for creating new rounding profile.
Input new profile name.
In that Threshold value & Rounding value is available.
Input your value & save.
In MRP1 view give the input of rounding profile.
Example given below for easy understanding.
Threshold value Rounding value
1- 20 -
> 20
60- 100 -
> 100
900-1000 -
> 1000
8000-10000 -
> 10000
If your requirement is 7, it will convert to 20.
If your requirement is 23, it will convert to 40.
If your requirement is 76, it will convert to 100.
If your requirement is 435, it will convert to 440.
If your requirement is 844, it will convert to 860.
If your requirement is 910, it will convert to 1000.
If your requirement is 8045, it will convert to 10000.
Hope it will helps you.

• MRP run with lot size as per prod. version and capacity levelling

Dear PP experts,
Hi, We are working with strategy 10. For SFG and FG produced inhouse we have created BOM and recipe with production version.
For example:
I have a production version with batch size as 100 Kg.
I load PIR for 500 Kg in MD61.
I have maintained lot size as EX in the material master but I have not defined mini. and max. lot size.
Is it possible during the MRP to consider the production version batch size if the mini. and max. lot size is not maintained in the system and create 5 Planned Order of 100 Kg each.
I know, how it can be done by using lot size in material master or by maintaining schedule lines in MD61 or by maintaining quota. But if nothing is maintained is it possible for the system to create 5 Planned orders as per the production version batch size.
Pl. check if this is possible and revert back.
Regards,
Prashant

Hi
No, system will not consider the size that maintained in the production version for the creation of planned order while the mrp run .
This lost size is used to validate the bom/ routing combiation for the particular pv of the material

• Planned order with Lot size and Planning Calendar in MRP

Hi All
I request your help in understanding MRP results in below mentioned scenario:

I am executing MRP on 7.04.11
As shown above the, can you please explain why the planned order is on Wed 12th and it covers 5 days requirement and similarly Tuesday 19th and covers 6 days.
I am not able to relate the relation between Planning calendar and Lot size procedure used. Also what would happen if I make planning calendar valid for two days in a week.
Thanks in advance
Rahul

Thanks dear
Yes you are right the Planning Calendar starts 18.4.11 and ends 24.4.11
Now as far as first planned order is concerned I thought it should be scheduled to start&end on Monday 11.04.11, rather it starts&ends on Tuesday 12.4.11. Also the actual coverage days goes up to 5 days even though its maintained for 3 days.
Similarly the second planned order also comes up on Tuesday 19.04.11 and covers 6 days (more than the setting and planning Calendar of only Monday)
On the whole this is confusing me on Lot size and Planning Calendar relation and how it impacts MRP. Can you please help me on this.
Also if you can throw some details on: how to restrict MRP to give planned order only on, say, Monday and Thursday, as only then it could be produced.
Thanks in advance

• System creating procurement proposal for components having MRP type VB

Hello All
I am having a FG under which there are two raw materials ROH1 & ROH2, MRP type for FG & ROH1 is PD & lot size EX, MRP type for ROH2 is VB & lot size HB. When am running Single-Item-Multilevel MRP for FG (using txn MD02) system is creating purchase requisition for ROH2 as well which shall not be the case as its MRP type is VB (Manual Planning).
Looking forward to your valuable inputs for resolving this issue.
Regards,
J K Tharwani

Thanks for your inputs
There is stock of ROH2 above the reorder point still the system is generating purchase requisition after I run the MRP for FG, I would like to inform you that I am running MRP of the FG against Customer independent requirement (Sales Order), am using strategy 50(MTO) for FG.
I also checked the similar scenario with another FG but i kept strategy as 40(MTS) for it, & when am running the MRP against independent requirement of FG with 40 strategy am not getting any purchase requisition for ROH2 (having MRP type VB & lot size HB).
Can you please make me understand this behaviour of the systtem. Again looking forward to your valuable inputs.
Regards,
J K Tharwani

• MRP is not generating purchase requisitions consistently for MRP type VB

Issue: When executing consumption based MRP in ECC 6.0 using the following parameters; purchase requisitions are not created for all material with stocks below max stock levels. In other words requisitions are created incase of some materials and requisitions are not created for others.
u2022 MRP type VB ( manual reorder point) with reorder point qty
u2022 Lot size HB with Max stock level
u2022 Procurement type F (external procurement).
Additional info: Some of these materials are batch managed and results are inconsistence whether it is batch managed or not.
Regards
Sai

I checked that and planning file entry is created.
Example 1: MRP is not working.
MRP type = VB
Lot size =HB
Procurement type= F
Material # = 1200045
Reorder point =30
Max stock level = 300
Available qty = 139
No PRs are existing before MRP.
MRP is expected to create PR for qty 161 (300-139= 161)
Example 2 : MRP is working.
MRP type = VB
Lot size =HB
Procurement type= F
Material # = 1200052
Reorder point =100
Max stock level = 1000
Available qty = 87
MRP created PR qty of 913 and results are as expected.
MRP is expected to create PR for qty 161 (1000-87= 913
NOTE: I am directly creating Purchase requisitions by selecting creation Purchase Requisitions Indicator =1 during MD01/MD02 trxs . Not creating any planned orders.

• MRP Type VV - Forecast Based Planning

Hi all,
My company would like to look at MRP Type "VV" - Forecast Based Planning (under Consumption-based Planning) for FG production materials. I've read quite a bit about the concept and some based set up to how it works. We would like to base Planned Orders > Production Orders based on this type of forecast planning. It seem that SAP advises this kind of plannig for Raw Materials but not FG. Anyway, what I really need to know are the specifics of how you set up the master data (in the Material Master) to properly execute this type of MRP: like....
MRP Type: VV
Lot Size: EX
Period Ind: W
Availability Check: 02
Forecast Period: 12
Periods per Season: 12
Historical periods: 60
other fields I'm not sure......
RP Profile: ??
Forecat Profile: ??
what else......?
Also, what is the recommended approach to convert this forecast plan into Planned requirements to be converted to Production Orders?
I appreciate any further information I can get on MRP Type "VV" and how it works. I appreciate your input!

Thanks for the info nudratmaab. Can you provide further data on what to expect given this forecast.....say I pick MVGA (Moving Average Forecast)? So I enter some consumption (say last 12 months) and run forecast (MP38). The MD04 shows the average requirement per "W" bucket:
02/23/2012 ForReq W 08/2012 16-
02/27/2012 ForReq W 09/2012 116-
03/05/2012 ForReq W 10/2012 116-
03/12/2012 ForReq W 11/2012 116-
03/19/2012 ForReq W 12/2012 116-
03/26/2012 ForReq W 13/2012 116-
04/02/2012 ForReq W 14/2012 116-
04/09/2012 ForReq W 15/2012 116-
04/16/2012 ForReq W 16/2012 116-
04/23/2012 ForReq W 17/2012 116-
04/30/2012 ForReq W 18/2012 116-
05/07/2012 ForReq W 19/2012 116-
The next part is where it is a little foggy for me. For "VV" do I run WRP1 (Replenishment) or do I run MD02/ 03 (MRP) and then what is the ForReq converted to (or does it even convert)? I'm looking to implement this for Production Planning Requirements for Finished Produced products (I need them to convert to PldOrd (Planned Orders) to be converted to PrdOrd (Production Orders) by production scheduler.
The second part of this is the Raw Material (BOM component) associated with these Finished Goods. THese BOM components are set up as MRP Type "PD" and Lot size "EX" and I was hoping that the FG MRP run would also do BOM explosion and drive requirements for the Raw Material as well.....I'm not seeing that.
I need professional / expert to tell me how this works: So MRP Type "VV" & Lot Size "EX" for the Finished Goods.......and MRP TYpe "PD" & Lot Size "EX" for the Raw Material (BOM Component).....
THanks again!!

• Lot size exclusion from planning run

Hi Gurus
My scenario is some materials are maintained with lot sizes as EX , VB, HB , when planning run executed , the system should not consider the VB and HB lot sizes ( these are not bom components) and no procurement proposal should exist , we are not following storage location MRP ,
Pl come back in full thanks in advance
Regards
Ram

Hi ramki
VB is MRP type not lot size. VB consumption based planning with manual reorder point. The planning proposal will be created based on your reorder level.
HB is lot size of " Replinishment to maximum lot size "
Normally oils and others are procured where the storage tank capacity is restricted. The max replish level will be your max tank capacity. You can define them as cosumable materials or bulk materials.

• Rounding in CBP using HB lot size

hi
we are using following data for a material:
MRP Type : VB
Lot size : HB
ROP= 2
Maximum stock level = 26
Current stock = 1
my requirement is as follows:
whenever i will run MRP , proposal should be generated in multiples of 10
e.g. if I run MD03 in above sitiuation, I want that proposal should be generated for only 20
tht means future stock = 1+20=21 (which is less than Max stock level = 26)
and order will be in multiples of 10.
pl suggest
BR
jeevan

Hi Mario,
Yes.....you are right...if we maintain rounding value as 10 ...it will generate proposal for 30.....we do not want the system to generate proposal (30) greater than max. stock level (26).
In this case system should generate proposal for 20 only (which will be less than 26).
Can u plz suggest?
BR

MD03 generated purchase requisition on 04.11.2011 for 72 pcs.
As you can see the available quantity of material on 04.04.11 will be 84,701 - 8,445 = 76,256. That is more than Minimum stock( 73,476)
Can you suggest why system creates purchase requisitions on 04.11.2011 but not on 05.11.2011
I can only assume that it's a one more feature of MRP. It calculates dates and quantitys to be procured as lot size EX was set in material master record and doesn't take into account increasing of stock due to FX lot size.
P.S. When I clear coverage profile in material master , SAP generates pur.requisitions correctly.

OK, now it is more clear.
First you should know that only target is doing a real impact. Min and Max are just for display.
Since you have period as month, looking at it on daily resolution is not relevant, you should look at months. You can also see on your daily display that target stock level will only change at month turn.
Hope that it makes it now easier for you to understand the system's calculation.

• Planning time fence and Lot size

Hi,
MRP type=P3, Planning time fence=28 days, lot sizs=EX and all 28 days are working days.
so today =05/112009 and i check the MD04 End of planning time fence is 03/12/2009
But when i change the lot size to =ZC(3 Months lot size) keeping the rest all same as above.
and when i check MD04 The planning time fence moved to 01/01/2010
What should be done to keep the planning time fence as 03/12/2009 and i don not want to change either MRP Type or lot size

Praveen,
I think your Lotsize Indicator is based on Planning Calendar. Please check the period definations of the planning calendar assigned to the material in the MRP2 view.

• Lot size EX with Minimum lot size

Hi all,
I have a query like how will the material behave if the following settings are made
MRP type:M0
Lot size:EX
Minimum lot size:100
Rounding value:100
Maximum lot size:300
My main question is is it right to use lot size EX along with mimium lot size value, rounding value,Maximum lot size defined.

Hi Anshul
Ex is lot for lot order quqntity. It will put lot size exactly what is required from MRP run. During MRP run after net requirement calculation the system will look for Lot size,Rounding value and Rounding profile before making procurement proposal.
You can use EX with Rounding value
If you requirement is 180 Nos and the rounding vaule is 100 the lot size for this will be 200.
Hope this will clear your doubt.

• Planning with Re-order point considering external requirements(MRP type V1)

Dear all,
We are working for a scenario as mentioned below,
We procure some marterial from our vendors, stock it and then sell to other customers.
Here we want to use Re order point planning considering external requirements , i.e. MRP type V1.
We have maintained following master data
MRP type = V1
Re order point quantity
Lot size = HB
Maximum stock level
Planned delivery time.
We have also created source list,Info record and scheduling agreement
We also maintained setting of schedule agreement in source list as 2 (Record relevant to MRP schedule lines generated automatically)
By doing above mentioned things when we run MRP we are getting schedule lines generated through MRP, for the lot size arrived by considering re order level, max. stock level etc.
My requirement is the schedule line that is coming through MRP should get firmed up, whcih is not happening currently.
Pl. guide as what other setting is required for getting firmed schedule lines.
Regards,
Sandeep

Hi
Automatic firming of Schedule lines only possible with the settings of Planning time Fence (PTF) in MRP-1 view with MRP type which allows firming . With Standard MRP type V1 it is not possible.
As per my idea , better to create new MRP type in SPRO by copying V1 settings and give Firming type as 1 additionally. Use this new MRP type in the MRP-1 view and give Planning Time Fence say 30.
When u run MRP then the requirements falling within the PTF get firmed Automatically.
Pl try and revert back

• Lot Sizes Used for Fore cast planning

Dear all,
For fore cast planing and Automatic reorder point planning what are the lot sizes are use full and what are the advantages and effects for each lot size procedure.
I am expecting answer for this question from all of you.
Regards,
Krishna

Hi
These fore cast planing and Automatic reorder point types are consumption based planning.
Hence for these MRP types normally, lot for lot ( EX ) will be used.
You can go through the following link for further info on lot sizing procedures.

• Lot size key HB with a planning calendar

I would like to be able to continue to use lot size key HB (replenish to maximum stock level), but with a planning calendar in order to specify Friday deliveries. However, the system does not appear to be capable of doing this. Does anyone know a way around the system limitation?
Thanks in advance!

I appreciate the suggestions. I would very much like to use a "Friday" planning calendar, however, if I changed the lot size key to PK - I can no longer replenish to a maximum stock level (unless someone knows of a way to get MRP behavior like lot size key HB but with something like PK).
I also tried using the "Planning cycle" field on the MRP 1 screen, but it appears to require time-phased planning - which again seems to rule out use of Lot size key HB.
Any other ideas?
Thanks again,
Ed
