MS 6561 745 Ultra Sound drivers
I can't find my motherboard CD and I can't find the sound drivers on the MSI web site. I really would like some sound back after a system reload.
One is glad to be of service!!!

MS-6561 (745 ultra) - can't update BIOS
Hope someone can shed some light on this problem for me.
Am trying to resurrect a PC with a 745 ultra mainboard (Athlon XP 1800+ Tbred A) and 640MB PC2100 RAM (2 x 512 + 128)
Have stripped the system down to the bare bones....only DVD-RW, graphics card and PCI USB cards attached
Clean installed XP Pro with no issues and updated to SP3 and all other essential updates
Increased FSB from 100 to 133MHz in BIOS, as others have reported on here
Had a number of BSOD crashes with "Page Fault in Non-paged Area" as the stated error, so i tested the RAM using Memtest. Each individual stick passed at least 7 passes.
Decided that i should check the BIOS as i've had problems in the past that ultimately were solved by simply updating the BIOS
Try as i might, i cannot get a BIOS update to run using the USB key flashing tool kindly provided on this forum. The BIOS update file from the MSI site is an EXE file, rather than RAR or ZIP, so I extracted the new BIOS file (A6561SMS.170) and pointed the flashing tool at that. Each time i try i get the error message that the file is "Everythink But" a BIOS file
Interestingly, the forum flashing tool and PC Wizard both list the current BIOS as "AMI v 07.00T 04/02/01", whereas the POST screen has it as "A6561SMS V1.4 070502"
Any ideas?
Oh, the other thing i'm concerned about is the quality of the PSU. It looks like a pretty cheap one:
J-L-T 350W CB (PFC)
3.3V/20A 5V/30A (185Wmax) 12V/15A -5V/0.5A -12V/0.8A (9.6Wmax) +5VSB/2A
Comments on that would be appreciated too
Thanks in advance

That's correct mode 1 can works with .rar or .zip only.

I was hoping that someone might be able to comment on the fact that the currently installed BIOS appears to be different depending on where you look at it - either AMI 07.00T or A6561SMS v1.4. Is this not unusual?

That's suppose to be, ignore it. CPU-Z will tell you the same.
SMBIOS info is different than post screen information typical for ancient mainboards.

I was actually selecting Option 2 with the flashing tool, Stu. The problem is that the tool tells me that the file that i extracted (A6561SMS.170) from the BIOS archive (EXE) file on the MSI Support site
http://eu.msi.com/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=bios&maincat_no=1&prod_no=274
is not a valid BIOS file. The same happens if I try other older BIOS updates. Is there a known issue using the tool for older boards & BIOS?

That's correct Mode 1 expect BIOS archive file[.zip or .rar] and not BIOS file itself, Tool's verification failed and Tool advice to use Mode 2 instead.

Mode 2 Tools verification failed because the BIOS file doesn't match with co-respond flasher and Tool rejected it.
Your ancient board is not supported by Mode 2, because else it will apply the wrong flasher,
to prevent that Tool make verification checking to make sure pointed BIOS file will meet the necessary criteria
I've attached the latest BIOS for your board to meet the Tool's criteria, use Mode 1.
Note: DO NOT FLASH your BIOS if BIOS update is not really need.
DO NOT FLASH if you have stability problems!! That will end with dead board, if something your PC hang/lockup/reboot during BIOS flashing process and you will end with dead mainboard.

MSI 745 Ultra and AMD XP 2000+
Hello everyone,
I've got a problem, i've got a MSI Ultra 745 (MS-6561)
mainbord and a AMD XP 2000+ Processor.
When i am in windows, fuzzy logic reports to me that
my cpu is 1666 Mhz..
When i start my bios says that it is an xp 2000+ so that's fine..
And in my bios settings i can change my FSB and my Ratio..
In windows it wil say ratio 12,5 and fsb 133..
How can i change the ratio to 15?
In my bios i can change it to 15 but NOT with program's like fuzzy logic (only the FSB)
Geetz, arjanAMD labels their processors by their performance comparison to Intel processors. So an Athlon XP 2000+ will perform just as well, or better, than a P4 at 2GHz at about 9 out of 10 applications. The actual clock speed is lower than what the processor is listed as.
You can't change the multiplier factor unless you hack your CPU (quite literally, by connecting some of the L3 bridges with some low resistance thermal silver laquer, this is a difficult and dangerous process).
You can increase the FSB, but if you go above 145 you have serious risk of stability issues. This will not only effect your CPU, but all of the components of your PC. I have mine at 140. Generally you aren't supposed to overclock anything more than 10%
Also, the 745 Ultra does not have a fan for it's motherboard interface controller chip (this would be called the Northbridge, but there's no SouthBridge connected to it). It just has that copper heatsink that says MSI DDR. I put my own 40mm fan on it to make sure the chip doesn't overheat. If you are OCing your FSB, you may want to consider this. -
I recently brought the following:
1)AMD 1800+ CPU and heat sink fan.
2)MSI 745 Ultra (MS-6561) ATX motherboard
3)256 DDR 2700 Ram
4)300w power supply
I also have (which worked fine with the previous VIA motherboard and windows 2000 Pro):
1)Sony DVD drive (set as Secondary Master)
2)IBM DeskStar 46.1Gb 7200Rpm (Set as Primary Master)
4)AGP RivaTnt 16mb Graphics Card
5)standard 3.5" floppy drive
Note: no PCI cards are connected. Bios version 1.4
The problem is this. On setting up the new hardware and plugging all the bits in the right places I start the installation of windows 2000 Pro and it gets to the stage were it starts windows up for the first time, it then gives me a blue screen Stop error saying IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL. I have not seen this before and so unsure what to do to correct the problem. as I don't have any PCI cards connected what could it be?
Any thoughts would be very grateful as this is starting to annoy me something chronic espeshily after my previouse problem.
Many thanks in advance again,
Quinton.Quote

says agpx4 1.5v only,some tnt2 are agpx4 but many are 3.3v agpx2
There seems to be a descreponsy between the Manual for the motherboard and whats on the website. the manual tells me it is compatible with 1x/2x/4x AGP and 1.5v and 3.3v cards and yet the site tells me ONLY 4x and 1.5v.
I have ordered a new G/Card running at x4 1.5v so I'll try that tommorrow. Tonight I'll be trying to get the system running with XP and with an old 4mb PCI VGA card to see if that resolves the issue then that would conclude the motherboard manual is incorrect.
Many thanks to all your help. If you guys and any one else has any more suggestions in getting around this problem then all suggestions are welcome.
thanks again,

PowerNow with MSI 745 Ultra and Athlon XP2600-M
Hi, i have a MSI 745 Ultra board with a XP2600-M barton processor.
Has anybody got the powernow feature to work? I have tried and i just cannot do it. Also if i want top maually set the cpu core voltage in the bios it will not go to 1.45v!
I have the latest bios, drivers and xp pro with SP2
CheersHi, thanks for the quick responses
The CPU (although a barton core) is a native native FSB 266. AXMG2600FQQ4C
i got the processor because it runs at 45W - and i wanted a low current system for bittorrent and usenet downloads. the cpu is in the epox board at the mo as it allows a 1.45v core in the bios.
i got the MSI board off ebay for a staggering 99p (bargain as its a really good board), and the processor works fine on it. I cannot remember exacety how low i can set the cpu core voltage in the bios as the cpu is back in the epox board but im sure it bottomed out at 1.5v
The latest bios i installed in the MSI board said it supported the 2600+ but the powernow just did not work.
i may get an old mobile processor like an 1800+ and see if it works with that
Cheers -
Desire no keyboard booting with 745 Ultra
I've got:
Mobo: MSI 745ULTRA SIS745 DDR333 ATX
Proc: AMD Athlon XP2100+
MEM: Corsair 256 MB DDR2700 at 333 MHz FSB x 2
Vid: PNY Tech. GeForce 4 Ti4600
HD: Western Digital 40 Gig
Optic: OptoRite DVD/CD +/-R/RW
Trying to get Microsoft BlueTooth Keyboard and Mouse setup. Got these working but can not disconnect the PS/2 Keyboard from the system. When I do and try to reboot it halts on no keyboard detection.
Going through CMOS/BIOS settings I can not locate a "Halt - All/None" setting I find on all my other systems. Going through "Live Update 3" I've updated all drivers and BIOS. The update didn't add anything to my setting options.
How do I make it so this 745 Ultra mobo system does not require a detectable/detected keyboard?
Thank you all ahead of time.
Seize the moment!
Cheerios,
BrianFrom all indications; manual, FAQ, and msg boards ... this particular motherboard requires a keyboard to boot up. MSI in their infinite wisdom has not yet added the "Hault On" option to the 745 Ultra mobo BIOS/CMOS options.
This sucks as I now have a bluetooth keyboard and mouse that I won't be using on this machine and will instead be using a wired unit. So much for making my need to move the system around easier
Anyone know of a null keyboard loop type of thing I can slap onto the PS/2 keyboard port to fake the system out, make it think there is a keyboard on the system so once it has booted up the bluetooth keyboard can then be used? Anyone?
If so thank you ahead of time if not ... someone in MSI make one for these mobo's you were short sighted on!
Cheerios,
Brian -

PC2700 incompatible with 745 Ultra?
I've been running my MSI 745 Ultra with two 256MB sticks of pc2100 (266mhz Kingston Value Ram) for two years trouble -free. I love this board. Last week I bought a new 512MB stick of pc2700 (333mhz) Kingston Value Ram and the computer randomly crashes. Pulled out the two original sticks and just ran the new 512MB stick alone, still crashes. Bought another 512MB Kinston Value stick and more crashes. Bought a Kingston Value 1GB stick, more crashes.
Calls to MSI and Kingston confirm that my board should work with Kingston Value pc2700, so they're stumped.
When I run any pc2700 stick alone, the CAS latency gets set to 2 (the ram is 2.5). I set it manually to 2.5 but still crashes. When I run the pc2100 memory, the bios posts a correct 2.5 CAS latency.
Running the FSB at 1:1 ratio or 4:5 ratio(with the pc2700 stick alone) makes no difference.
Anyone with a the same board running pc2700 ram trouble-free? Suggestions?

WD 120GB HD, 7200 rpmYou don't have a fever for sure! But maybe a cold?
Thank you very much for the readings!
I do want it to be compatible. For some reason it is probably not. However, the "long" time for it to become problematic, makes me think it i s compatible. My thinking shouldn't make you take all kinds of trouble fixing and dealing and searching, but does the freeze-bsod-crash-reboom also happen in SafeMode? In that mode, as you know, there will not be more than the basic windows drivers and not much in the background.
Strange that the CAS setting wont "take". Try it the other way around, and set to "3".
Adding: Perhaps I missed a lot. I searched the Internet for your error message, and mostly came up with sort of software or settings related problems. Not that it were that many hits for the search.
Here is a half-way related example from http://66.249.93.104/search?q=cache:lM9Sgu_fxLYJ:trillian.cc/forums/showthread.php%3Fs%3Df30c169d510191ea7102e3ac168431f0%26postid%3D341840+%22dumping+virtual+memory%22&hl=sv:
"ok..like we are asking strange questions,
Maybe we all have seen a blue screen before right? surely with Xp..(home or Pro)..where it said ...alot of nonsense..and then...dumping virtual memory...
ok, we all now to go to the source to see why it does that, most of the times was my video card that did it, but after a while, my Rimm (rams)..began doing the same..and I'm a guy that experiments alot so I do everything myself,..fine after a few trail and errors it got working..now here comes the two questions
Why sometimes, I had to change my modem from it slot.?? so it can be seen by the PC...and sometimes I have to change like 3 to 5 time to get it working..
this happens everything I have to format or install a new harddrive..and sometime I change it..back to the same slot where I began...so make nonsense to me...and last time, I had to play the rams so I can get the modem to work, does that make any sense..
and the other question is,
Ihave a logitech Quick Cam, the first time I installed it on my pc..with Xp Pro..it worked fine, didn't have to unplug and plug it in (making sure I restart the pc without it plugged in)..so It can work..but after I formatted the HDD..once..I have to do all those things to get it working...why?

Upgraded Qosmio X500-10T to Win 8.1: Sound drivers for 5.1 over HDMI
Hello *brilliant* Toshiba community,
I have recently upgraded my Qosmio X500-10T from 64-bit Windows 7 to 64-bit Windows 8.1.
I have left Windows to download driver updates.
My setup: Qosmio (HDMI) => Yamaha AV receiver (HDMI) => Samsun LCD TV.
_The Problem:_ Playing a video file (in MPC-HC) with 5.1 sound only outputs 2 channel PCM.
Would it be better to install the Win 7 drivers from Toshiba even though they are older and for a different OS, or install windows 8.1 drivers from another Qosmio, or leave the Win 8.1 drivers found by Microsoft?
This driver issue is made more problematic as I don't actually know what the technical hardware components are in the machine so its not as though I can find a win 8 driver for them.
As always any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
BuzzHi
From my knowledge the Win 7 drivers are totally different from Win 8.1 drivers and I doubt that Win 7 driver would work properly on Windows 8.1 system. However, you can test such Win 7 drivers too. But of course I would recommend you to use the Win 8.1 drivers released for other notebook series.
As Im not mistaken the Qosmio X500 needs 2 sound drivers: Conexant (chip CX20583-10Z) sound driver as well as the nVidia sound driver (for HDMI) -
Windows XP X64 Soundmax ADI1986A Sound drivers
Windows XP X64 Soundmax ADI1986A Sound drivers
Does anyone have these drivers >>> Soundmax ADI1986A FOR WINDOWS XP X64
There is a X64 version working under Vista X64 Ultimate provided by the Lenovo site, but for XP X64 i found none.
I must say, with the UAA Driver for High Definition Audio 1986A X64 Windows 2003 installed, there is sound only in my headphones (so the jack is working) , but the speakers are off. I really do not understand how this comes.
Does anyone confronted with this issue ? Does anyone has a working XPx64 ADI1986A sounddriver ?
( I forgot to tell the notebook model lenovo 3000 N100 0768-bng intel core2duo T5500 )
Message Edited by adrian_butan on 01-04-2009 02:05 PMI am in deep trouble finding those x64 drivers.
For the Bluetooth stack, it complains about being unable to find the Bluetooth device. It keeps on saying "Please plug in the Bluetooth device.". Nothing more...
For the sound card, Analog Devices does not provide drivers to individuals. Instead, they forward you to the OEM manufacturer web site, in our case the Toshiba downloads site, where you can find nothing.
I understand that Toshiba is not delivering those machines with 64 bit operating systems. -
Hello,
I have an Hp pavilion dv7-4060us, and my sound drivers haven't been updated since 2010. They are IDT HD audio Codecs, and I went to the IDT site, and couldn't find them. I also emailed the IDT support team, and they said they couldn't help me with it.
Here is my Dxdiag.
Thank you to anyone ahead of time.

I guess not.
I looked at the version of the video driver on your notebook's support page and it looked to be in an earlier sequence of the one I posted.
That is why I thought it would run.
You can try to manually update the driver by clicking on the IDT audio controller in the device manager. Click on the driver tab. Click on Update driver. Select the Browse my computer for software and browse to the installation folder that was created when you ran the driver package. That would be in C:\SWSetup\sp53628.
Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked and see if the driver installs that way. If not, you will probably have to live with the status quo.

Need sound drivers for a Pavillion dv8309us running Windows 7 Enterprise 64-Bit OS
Need sound drivers for a Pavillion dv8309us running Windows 7 Enterprise 64-Bit OS. I'm getting "no audio output device is installed" error after trying various different drivers. Sometimes the driver will install and I'll reboot, but to no avail I end up with the same error and a red X over the speaker in the system tray. I've tried Realtek drivers and Conexant drivers from HP. When I run Windows upgrade advisor it recognizes the problem, but Microsoft doesn't offer a compatible driver. At this point I'm very desperate considering everything else works fine and I don't want to go back too XP Media Center. If there is anything you can do to help, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
I guess this one isn't even 64 bit but it is the one on HP's site:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-46818-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&...
I never tried to force a driver but I think it can be done. I seeing that in some threads.

ADI Sound Drivers for Mini Note 2133 Netbook
Have just spent a day removing Linux and installing Windows XP pro on a new Mini Note 2133 Netbook, downloaded all the relevant XP Drivers prior to installing XP, after installation run all the HP Drivers with no problem - Except the ADI Sound Drivers, on running this driver installation it will only let me install it on the C: Drive, I have installed Windows XP on the E: Drive and left the C: drive with Linux, each time I run the ADI Driver it automatically tries to install on the C: drive, it fails because C: drive is not part of the XP installation. All other HP Drivers for the MIni Note, pause and prompt for where you want to install the driver, the ADI driver does not. So the mini note runs fine with XP but no sound. Any ideas what I can do to correct this prob.
Well I'm an idiot and the answer was staring me in the face in my own post: if adding those modules to mkinitcpio.conf made the issue start earlier, maybe one of them is the problem.
Passing "modprobe.blacklist=viafb" to the kernel at boot (by pressing TAB at the syslinux menu and appending it to the end) did the trick, both on the installed system and for the archiso install media. Marking as solved. -
I am trying to get sound drivers onto Windows 7 part of my Mac
Ok, so I have my hardrive split up. Half Mac OS X, half Windows 7. The Windows 7 part, doesn't have the drivers I need. I can't use the same scroll techniques as on OS X or anything, but my main problem is the sound drivers. I CAN'T GET SOUND! GRR!!! I had a friend tell me to use the utility disk that came with my Mac while I'm on Windows and that should give me all the drivers I need. But I don't even know what the utility disk is or what it looks like! I NEED HELP!!!!! :'(
If you used Boot Camp Assistant to partition the drive and install Windows you should visit the Boot Camp forum. Driver installation questions and answers are posted regularly.
https://discussions.apple.com/community/windows_software/boot_camp
If you are running Snow Leopard the drivers are on your Snow Leopard install disk. If you are running Lion, you download the drivers from within Boot Camp Assistant.
Read the Boot Camp Install and Help guides. http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/
If you did not use Boot Camp Assistant I can't help you. Someone else will be along.
