MSI graphics cards and MSI motherboards

Do MSI "tend" to match their graphics cards with their motherboards? .... would I benefit from matching an MSI graphics card with my K8T Neo2 motherboard?
JLP

Noooooooo, not at all.
I have some K8N neo2 platinum combined with an msi nx6800gt and although
i'm very happy with game performance, there are times i would expect more.
My GT has lots of problems when not running at stock.
Even at 365/1050 there is some stuttering (rarely, and for about 2 seconds) but
still, there is.
It could as well have been any other brand.
And i bet it could have been a better o/cer.
The only thing i HIGHLY recommend msi gards, is their EXCELLENT bundle.
Mine came with 15 cds(!!!) :  DOOM 3, XIII, URU, Prince of Persia and many more.

There are no known issues between ur mobo and ur gfx card. Issues like these are moere chipset related then brand related.
Problem seems to be PSU related, an older 350w PSU will be unable to supply enough juice on 12v to feed a power hungry P4. Check the ammount of amps it delivers on the 12v rail(s). According to Intel specs u need at least 20 amps on 12v.
I don't think it's bios related. Bios issues rarely expose themselves in instabtable behavure.
Don't think it's Dx9 related, cus ur rig also freezes without using Dx9 extensions, eg surfing the internet.
The driver version u use is a decend one, and shouldn't cause the problems that you encounter.
I put my money on the PSU as trouble causer.
Good luck and keep us informed on ur progress.

  • MSI Graphics Drivers and Microsoft AntiSpyware

Microsoft have released an AntiSpyware Program today.
On downloading and running this program it came up with 1 Severe warning on my PC....which I may add has an MSI Motherboard and MSI Graphics Card.
    It found in C:\windows\system32\winsys.exe
    KCGame(RAT)
    This is what is said:
    KCGame
    Type: RAT
    Threat Level: Severe
    Author: c0ldfyr3
Description: A Remote Administration Tool (RAT) is a Trojan type of software that when run, provides an attacker with the capability of remotely controlling a user's computer (victim) over the Internet. The attacker usually has full access to functions on the victim's computer. The victim's computer usually listens on the Internet for the attacker's commands.
Advice: This is an extremely high risk threat and should be removed immediately as to prevent harm to your computer or your privacy.
    File Name: DOT Application
    File Path: C:\windows\system32\winsys.exe
    Publisher: NONE
    File Size: 135168 bytes
Now I remember that DOT application is possibly the same as Dynamic Over-Clocking Technology which comes supplied with the Graphics card drivers from MSI.
What I would like is some re-assurance that this Trojan is not within this file which was possibly supplied for an MSI product.
Anyone from MSI able to confirm this?

This is Ok, over a year ago I mentioned it to my MSI contact about this and they obviously have not done anything to change the name.
    It is being improperly identified.
    I will tell them again...

  • Graphics card and motherboard bios

i have recently purchased a hp pavillion p6 2371ea, trying to play a game i realised the new pc was not up to spec. having now bought a nividia gtx 650 ti im struggling to get it to work. the machine already has an intergrated graphics card in it. ive tried to find the right option in bios to disable the intergrated graphics card. the problem is the joshua h61-uatx motherboard doesnt have the option of the graphics card and the ability to disable it. any ideas as to how i can over come this issue?

Here are the specs for your HP Pavilion p6-2371ea Desktop Computer. According to the specs, this model shipped with Windows 8 and a 300 watt power supply. To use the GTX 650 Ti you will need to upgrade the power supply to a 500 watt or 600 watt unit. The Corsair CX500 and CX600 are known to fir most HP comsumer desktop computer cases and come highly recommended. The next thing you need to do is DISABLE "Secure Boot" and ENABLE "Legacy Support" in the BIOS. Doing these things should resolve your issue.

  • PCI-E graphics card and system memory conflict.

    Hello,
I have a bit of a strange problem with my new system build.
All my parts work fine when used by them selves.
    MSI KN8 diamond.
    Athlon 3200 64bit 939 Winchester.
    Crucial Ballistix PC4000 memory.
    Inno3D 6800GT PCI-E
    Thermaltake purepower 680W.
The problem arises when I try and use both the memory and graphics card card at the same time, the system does not post stating a memory problem.  I know both work as I’m able to post when either is removed i.e when running with a standard PCI graphics card or when the memory is swapped. I’ve checked out a lot of forums over the last 2 weeks and I know there are a lot of people out there running with the same memory.  I’ve tried under clocking the memory with no success. Can anyone shed any light on this problem as I’ve never had a conflict between a graphics card and memory before.
    Thanks John

Need to make a couple of changes as there appears to be a possible issue with the loading of the Optimized Default setting in the bios, and I quote from MSI:
     Quote
After loading the Optimized Default, the memory setting values will be optimized to achieve better performance. It is, however, likely to cause problems of compatibility.
Which seems to be the exact issue you are experiencing.  First thing I would do is to manually set your vdimm to 2.8v in the bios.  This will make sure that your memory is getting the correct voltages as the AUTO setting usually sets memory to 2.5v.  This alone could eliminate your problem, but I think you'll have to comb through your memory timings and reset them, (Crucial lists 2.5-4-4-8 @ DDR500 speeds, so I'd try 2-3-3-6 or 2.5-3-3-6 for DDR400 speeds).
There is also an official bios 1.1 for your board, and a beta (5.01) from the Diamond Club.  I'd stay with the official releases for the time being (until you get your board up and running properly).

  • Iq771 inactive graphics card and no help from hp!!!

My iq771 is dead.  I took it to pc world as it is out of warranty and after a hardware diagnostics test they told me there was a problem with the graphics card either broken or inactive.
I called the hp support line and after great difficultly was given an out of warranty repair service that hp utilise.  I explained what had happened and they told me that they had been informed by hp escalation complaints service that they no longer supported the graphics card or screen on the touchsmart iq771.  It was irrepairable.  They gave me the name of the manager at escalation complaints, Grant Cyster, and after many calls and reassurances that they would call me back, i have yet to hear from them.
I have an iq771 that is three years two months old, it cost £1099, and it is now irrepairable.  Surely this machine is not fit for purpose!!
    Any advice greatly appreciated
    Techno b

hey hope this gets to you before you trash it.   If the machine powers on and you hear no beeps you are in good shape.
There is a known issue ( at least with the community, hp will never admit ) with the nvidia 7600 go graphics card burning out on this unit.  luckily the motherboard comes with a built in nvidia 6150 go, you just have to switch the right cable to it.  now getting to it is hell on this computer if you have never opened it before.
I will not go into how to remove the back cover in front of the HD and the bottom panel, as HP has these on their website under how to change the Memory and hard drive on this unit.     The real tricky part to this operation is that there are two hidden screws on the bottom right front of the unit under a sticker.  the sticker doesnt actually look like a sticker, its the label for the front audio and usb inputs.  after these are out and you have removed the optical drive and one screw on the right side close to the bezel, the plastic assembly should slide out giving you access to the graphics card and processor.
You dont actually have to remove the burned out card, you just need to look for a pinout and cable labeled lsvd1 and lsvd2 (not sure if that's the exact name but its close)
which should be located on the left side in the front.  switch the cable to lsvd2 and you are done.  reset the bios if you have not already and it should come up.    do a reinstall from system recovery if you still have the original hard drive

  • Upgrading Graphics Card and Processor

    Manufacturer: Foxconn H-RS880-uATX

I've already decided I'm upgrading my processor to the Phenom II X4-830. Right now I have the AMD Athlong dual core 3.0ghz.
And I'm upgrading my RAM from 4GB to 8GB this week.
The only thing I'm having a hard time finding is what the best graphics card I can get for my motherboard. I've checked all the FPS benchmarks for the ones HP recommends, but they don't seem better than what I have now which is the ATI Radeon HD 5450 512MB.

Please identify your HP desktop with its product name. Is it a Pavilion p6230y desktop?
In the HD 5000 series  the 5750 is definitely better than a HD5450.
The HD6850 would definitely do the trick, but you would also have to upgrade your PSU to something beefier.
The Phenom II X4-830 will have to be a Deneb core for it to work with your motherboard.
If your operating system is a 64-bit one then upgrading RAM to 8GB  will be worthwhile.
If the OS is 32-bit then you will be wasting your hard-earned money since the OS was designed to use only @3.25 GB of RAM.

  • Graphics card and CD problems

    Hello,
I recently partitioned my hard drive into two primary partitions and installed Solaris 9 x86 on one of them.
The first problem I had was kdmconfig. I have an nVidia GeForce4 graphics card, and it was not listed - only up to geforce3 was listed. I tried that, but the test did not work. I got an error (something about InitScreen and SUNWnvidia). I eventually chose the topmost option (16 colors at 640x480) and that one tested fine, but obviously, its a horrible display. How would I get a Solaris driver for my GeForce4? I believe I would need it on a floppy (or a series of floppies) so that I can choose Add Driver and use the floppies. However, I do not know where to find these drivers.
Secondly, after it prompted me to insert CD2, it gave me an error saying CD2 could not be read. I burned the CD2 image at 20x (rather than the normal 40x) and it still gave me this error. How do I get past it?
Finally, Solaris has blocked my entrance to Windows XP. When I start up my computer, I get a SunOS blue-background with two choices: the Solaris partition and my Windows partition. Choosing my windows partition gives me an error (saying some sig file could not be found) and choosing the Solaris partition starts the device configuration manager which eventually leads me to the desktop login screen (black and white, horrible resolution). How do I get to Windows XP?
Thanks a lot for your help.

I am having a similar issue. Let me know if you find a solution.

  • GRAPHIC CARDS AND 10.6.4 PROBLEMS - MAKES CS5 CRASHING!

Photoshop CS5 has crashed on me several times today and *my screen becoming extremely distorted and flickering very fast, locking up the Mac and not responding at all*, leaving me to reboot.
I tried PS CS5 in 32-Bit mode, and it is still crashing.
+That crash just started appearing with the delivery of MacOS 10.6.4+. (Acobe engineers found unknown crashes moving up the statistics and had engineers looking at them) It is related to OpenGL, and probably to a driver update delivered with 10.6.4.
Adobe has found no problems with CS5 and this is a problem related to Apples 10.6.4
This has been discussed with users and engineers at Adobe here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/2957823#2957823
We are working on a very important project with one of our main clients - and really needs this resolved asap! This is not just affecting gamers but creative professionals.
Is there any news on this issue?
    Thank you very much,
    Kim

A business that is using the latest OS, would also be taking risks, and would have been prudent and conservative, having multiple bootable backups to work with, and realize these things happen.
Other than a brand new Mac that doesn't work with Leopard I can see having to have 10.6.3.
As to how long since release to move production up from CS4 to CS5? well, people really detest the IT-minded for their "test, retest, and don't deploy until the testing is done" approach.
I assume "graphic cards" and you have a Mac Pro 2009 w/ ATI 4870 or GTX 285, but your post was scant on that, and it is really helpful to have a more complete .sig with hardware profile to see.
There is a patch from Nvidia for GTX 285. You should be able to roll-back to 10.6.3.

  • Problem with discrete graphic card and DirectX 11

If I try any application to launch with discrete graphic card (nvidia geforce 740m) that using directx 11 it always crashes.
There no problems with directx 9 on on this graphic card.
There are no problems with integrated graphic card whether application using directx 9 or 11. Problem occurs only with discrete graphic card and directx 11.
    The things that i did:
    - Reinstall Windows
    - Install latest driver updates (I also tried to uninstall latest and install recomended driver downloaded from the oficial HP support 'driver download' web page)
    - different options on nvidia control panel 3d settings page
I also tried microsoft 'Direct3D Tutorial Win32 Sample' source code to build and debug. It is failed in function IDXGISwapChain:resent with code DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED and ID3D10Device::GetDeviceRemovedReason returns DXGI_ERROR_DRIVER INTERNAL_ERROR.
Is there any chance that is not hardware malfunction?

    @Enegue ,
Hello and thank you for posting on the HP support forum.  In your situation I would consider keeping with Directx 9.  The reason I say this is your notebook is not a performance gaming machine.  It is designed to be fore general use.
Some cards will notice issues when upgrading to direct 11 from a lower level.
Not to mention with your notebook you will want to stick with the drivers only provided from the HP support site.  They are proprietary for the notebook and could be the reason why the directx 11 is not working.
Here is the link to your systems supported drivers.
