MSI N570GTX-M2D12D5 dying again?

Hello,
I got a MSI N570GTX-M2D12D5 that was running fine until 2 week ago. Got a RMA on monday, everything was fine, played Deus EX all the week and then, same problems as the other one.
I begin to notice the problem when I'm browsing the internet, the "driver" crash and recover. Then, if I go to any game (even small game like Minecraft) or Kombustor, I see artefacts.
Now, I was trying to have the card "hold-up" until I get the new card, so I told my friend "I installed Afterburner and reduced the Memory from 1900 to 1700 and it's seems stable right now!". My friend when   "The clock is supposed to be 950 Mhz". So we both think that's why my card died. Another guy come by and say "Hey, mine too is set at 1900, show I lower it?".
So, now I'm confused :
If I set Afterburner to 1900 Mhz, CPU-Z is showing 1900 Mhz clock (so 1900 x 4 = 7600 Mhz   ), but GPU-Z show 950 Mhz...
If I set Afterburner to 950 Mhz, CPU-Z is showing 950 Mhz (so 950 x 4 = 3800 Mhz), but GPU-Z show 500 Mhz (and state that default should be 950 Mhz). (Also, I'm pretty slow in benchmark if I use this setting).
So, questions :
1) Who is right? Is the card supposed to run at 1900 Mhz or 950 Mhz (in Afterburner). I don't want to mess another card when I'll get the RMA back. Is 1900 Mhz OK and I just got unlucky with both card died ?
2) I'm also looking at getting a better cooling (cause maybe I'll save the next one), so I wish to buy a Zalman ZF3000F. I know that other brand still warranty the card if you have an aftermarket cooler... MSI does it ?

you mean, a bad PSU or an underpowered PSU ? specs of the PSU seems ok for the card.
I'll try it in my GF computer to see if it's working.

  • MSI N570GTX M2D12D5 green artifacts on graphic intense games

    Hello all,
I'm hoping you guys can help me out on my issue. I have a MSI N570GTX M2D12D5 which has been crashing with green artifacts everytime I play any graphic intense games, so examples are Just Caused 2 Deux Ex - Human Evolution, Bad Company 2, and some more.
I have RMA'd the card last month believing it was actually the card causing the crashing, but now I don't believe it is. I have replaced my PSU as well due to it failing to boot-up my system. (I hope the GPU didn't cause my PSU to fail). Now everything its running fine except when I game, it crashes with the green artifacts again.
This card is stock and I haven't OC'd it yet.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried diffferent graphics card drivers? Did you use >>Driver Sweeper<< before installing your current drivers?
Is your VBIOS the latest available? --> http://www.msi.com/product/vga/N570GTX-M2D12D5.html#/?div=BIOS (improved stability in revised version)
    Thanks for the response.
The only driver i tried was from Nvidia (280.26), and its the latest driver. What other drivers can I try? I just used the Driver Sweeper and reinstalled the driver, but green artifacts still occurring. :(
As for the VBIOS, I used the live update 5 to update my card, so I'm not sure if the VBIOS was flashed. Is that the same? If not, where can I find instructions on how to flash it? Perhaps I can flash it again if not already done so.

I just want to say, out of many previous GPUs I never had to deal with this many issues. Its also very odd how my PSU suddenly failed when I installed this GPU. Luckily I can send it in for RMA.

I've had this problem since I first built this PC towards the end of March of this year. Every time I try to play games with Direct X11 enabled I can only play for about 5 minutes before I get some repeating green spots on my screen and either the program crashes to desktop or the PC just locks up. The games that I have played on all vary, Shogun 2: Total War, The Witcher 2: Assassin of Kings, RIFT, Deus Ex: Human Revolution. When I disable DX11 everything runs smoothly and nothing happens. Only when DX11 is enabled.

I have RMA cards twice, sent it back to newegg once. It seems to be a problem with this line of cards. No matter what drivers I update, or rollback, or change, nothing seems to fix this problem.
Has anyone had similar problems, or is my only option to pretty much beg Newegg to take it back long after the refund policy and get a new card?

I have been attempting to do that. I've followed the instructions for making the USB bootable. But when ever I go to boot, it just sits at the Windows 98 screen (30 minutes was the longest I waited)
I have already used the LiveUpdate5 from MSI, it says that all my BIOS are fully up to date.

84C when under load for a VGA is pretty normal, they can reach up to 105C these days, without any problems, although I would recommend against running it that hot for a prolonged period of time.
I use Nvidia cards for F@H and when I had 2 GTS250's  they would run against the 90C mark in summers for weeks at end and they are still functioning normal to this day.
So dont be worried too much about the 84C, as long as it stays under 90C you're fine.

  • Artifacts during gaming with an MSI N570GTX OC

    Hi there
I've had an N570GTX-M2D12D5/OC since early April 2011 and almost from purchase I've had problems with artifacts, weird texture colours, etc, on black ops.
I was going to RMA to my retailer but found that reseating the card seemed to completely stop the artifacts. In fact, the problem went away for several months and even under continuous, heavy use, I had no further issues.
Unfortunately, the problem has re-occurred now - about 8 times in the last 6 months - and is happening more frequently too.
I am completely at a loss as to understand what the problem is.
I have tried underclocking the card to stock speeds of a non-OC card and although this reduces the artifacts, it doesn't stop them (please note that my card is a factory OC'd version).
Any help would be gratefully received.
    Thanks,
    Gary

  • BIOS Flash SLI N570GTX-M2D12D5/OC - Battlefield 3 Black screen

Hello, first problem with MSI product = first post on this forum - hello all
I have 2 x N570GTX-M2D12D5/OC in SLI - I've removed the stock coolers and bolted on EK waterblocks and an EK parallel link (full system is i7 930, 6Gb RAM, Gigabyte x58 extreme board)
After 1 - 2 mins of Battlefield 3 - the PC black screens - it still runs - but there's no escape from the black screen other than to hit the reset. This is a widely reported fault, and I've updated the drivers to the latest forceware, and have over-volted the cards using Afterburner - but to no avail.
The next thing to do is the flash the BIOS's - but Live Update 5 causes instant BSOD
Couple of noob questions first -
    - Can I use Svets vBIOS tuner to update the BIOS ? - I think I can
    - Can I update both the BIOS's (SLI remember) at the same time ? - I think I can't
    More complex question -
    - As the two cards are literally bolted together, and are sharing water flow, it's going to be difficult to flash them one at a time - can I therefore just remove the power supply pins from one card to disable it - I think I can't as power is supplied via the PCIe interface as well - am I right ?
    Any other recommendations ?

  • MSI N570GTX Twin Frozr III Power Edition/OC memory clock?

I have had an MSI N570GTX Twin Frozr III Power Edition/OC for about 6 months now and have used MSI Afterburner to monitor temps etc. Today I used it to lower my overclocking as others had said Ghost Recon Future Soldier doesn't crash if you take it off.
If you look at the MSI product page for the card (the forum won't let me post a link to it!?) you can see the Memory Clock Speed(MHz) says 4000 yet in Afterburner mine said 2000Mhz and the slider was in the middle. I am pretty sure there is no multiplier at work here so mine wasn't being overclocked?
Any ideas? I have reduced it down to 1800Mhz and GRFS doesn't crash anymore but can I take it up to 4000Mhz safely in future? I do not want to overload the card.

you have multiply the memory value x2 to get the effective speed

  • 5700 die agaiN!!!

Was playing need for speed underground 2 the other day and noticed artifacts on the street lights, figured it was drivers (56.64) so I didnt worry about it, since I was lazy, was working in windows today and all the sudden the screen went int 320xwutever resolution on its own, windows also slowed down a lot! seemed like the card was throttling or something, ran a game while this was occuring, the game ran successful with many artifacts and small blocks present on the screen, turned off computer, felt the card, it wasnt hot at all!! heatsink was on nice and tight. My PSU has 22A on 12V line and this card functioned before, THIS IS THE SECOND ONE TO BLOW, I rma'd the first one, and received a new one back only to have it blow again in 3 months, what do I tell MSI, this is a 64bit version of the 5700 with 4.0N memory, the one that I guess was discontinued, should a demand a 128bit version, I was conned by the packaging/manual which told me Id in fact be getting a 128bit card, and if these 64bit ones are gonna keep blowing I dont know what to do, I dont want to RMA the card every 3 months, and according to what you guys said cards shouldnt die for at least 3-5 years. Kind of puzzled
also do you think theres anyway to solve this problem, the last card died during a game of warcraft, screen filled with grey and white lines, video memory I suspect, this one if functioning right now, but that little incident I just had tells me its going to die sooner than I think......
What do I do about this situation?

You can reach Customer Relations at (800) 767-2775 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Pacific Time (two hours earlier than Chicago time). That number gets you "Legacy" (older hardware), and you may still have to ask for Customer Relations.

  • UK: MSI H55-S01 died after one day

I'm based in the UK, and I recently purchased an MSI H55-S01 from a eBay seller in the states. The product appears to be brand new, but died after one day.
(No, I didn't increase the voltage, spill my drink, handle it without static protection, etc.)
I've tried all the obvious fixes, such as CMOS resetting, and different cases, CPUs and RAM, and basically the board just doesn't power on at all.
The MSI UK support site says I should send it back to the seller for RMA, but the seller is 3500 miles away and I'd have to pay import tax (again).
Can this be dealt with in a more practical manner by MSI UK? How do I get hold of MSI UK without phoning a premium rate number?

I don't think so, no. How would I go about attempting to fix this myself? Any ideas?
Honestly not sure what to advise since you seem to be knowledgeable as to troubleshooting procedure. RAM can always be a problem. Recommend to do all the testing with just one stick in the primary DIMM slot. Try each stick individually. Since you have tested a lot of the components in another system, I have no idea how to proceed to start and find what's faulty on the mainboard itself.

  • Kernal Data Inpage Error, No Bootable Device, Critical Process Died AGAIN! Please help!

I bought this S55-A5295 in July 2013. It started to have problems in April 2014. After 3 months of Critical Process Died, No Bootable Device, and having it shut down multiple times a day, I eventually convince service to take accept it because when I tried to do the recovery, the hard drive was missing partitions needed. (My $30 to ship, despite under warranty)
I received it back late June. The factory replaced the faulty screen (a different problem), but did not replace the hard drive. They supposedly "fixed" it, and added the needed partitions, should I need to do recovery again. I know that the partition was added because when I got it back, instead of being like new out of the box and ready to use, I was locked out because it was set to administrator and there was no option to access it, so I had to use the partitioned info. and do ANOTHER reset after getting it back from them. Not great service all around.
Now the laptop is out of warranty and I've started having problems again.
Sept. 16 -- I had a Kernal Data Inpage Error. The laptop made a horrible sound and shut down. At the time there was a Toshiba Canvio Slim II external drive attached.
Sept. 18 -- EFI\Microsoft\Boot\BCD 0xc00000bb the boot configuration data for your PC is missing or containing errors.
Sept. 19 -- Kernal Data Inpage Error. At this point I had removed the external drive, in case that was the problem. It wasn't letting me remove it earlier in the week. I didn't use it much over the next week.
Sept. 27 -- No Bootable Device.
Sept. 30 -- Kernal Data Inpage Error (volmgrx.sys)
Then Critical Process Died -- 3 different times
Then it restarted itself once without an error code.
Today, Oct. 1, I installed updates from Toshiba, including one fpr HDD and I performed maintenance. I tried to do the hard drive check, but the tabs in the instructions on the computer don't actually exist.
The directions: go to Computer, Properties, Tools tab (can't find it) , so no Error Checking and Check.
However, I did find, under Performance information and Tools my computer's performance rating. The Primary Hard Disk data transfer rate is 5.9.
So far it hasn't shut down today and hopefully the updates have fixed any issues, but I want to be prepared if they don't.
Are these errors coming from my laptop's hard drive? Is there a way for me to actually check that? Are the errors somehow connected to my TOSHIBA external drive? I haven't connected the external drive since the errors started happening, but i will need to use it again at some point, I just wanted to make sure the laptop was okay first.
Also, I am still running Windows 8. That's what they reset it to at the factory, and last time the issues seemed to correspond to me upgrading to 8.1, so I am wary to end up with a $600 paper weight again.
    Please advise. Thanks!!

..went through the whole reset.   ...   ..do ANOTHER reset after getting it back from them
What can I say? The gold-standard test for a software problem is to restore the hard disk to its original out-of-the-box contents.
    I'm a Windows specialist. Can't troubleshoot hardware.

I purchased my shuffle two weeks ago. charged it, sync'd it, used it, recharged it... about two weeks past and then the shuffle went completely dead. dead. nothing to explain its dead.
Sorry to hear that. Did it by any chance get moisture on it?
i have plugged into 3 different computers including my mac.
What did/does Apple System Profiler say about it in teh USB tree when plugged in?
I just called Apple. They are sending me a new one. He said its a "software issue" when I read him my serial #. wow.
THAT's interesting. Would you share with us the serial number so that others might be able to address this issue with Apple support? I'm a bit skeptical about it being an unaddressed "software" issue, especially since it would seem cheaper to be fixed with a firmware update than incurring the costs of replacing affected shuffles...
coincidentally I went to walmart this morning and asked him if they knew of any issues. he said, the shuffle is nothing but problems but the nano is very solid. thats a total bummer as I really like the shuffle for my purposes (elite triathlete) and training.

  • Is my HD dying again???

So almost 2 months ago I bought a refurbished iMac. I do a heavy amount of music, and after about a week the HD started to show symptoms of death. I didn't know at the time, and I figured the reason it would lock up and need to be restarted constantly was because I was recording too much audio.
Eventually, it got to the point where I had to bring in the HD to get replaced, there's a lot more to the story but I don't even want to relive it, it was awful.
Anyway, whatever, so new HD, and I'm back in the game. A few minutes ago, I was recording as usual, and I got the dreaded "(Name of project) could not be saved." And I immediately knew what came next. Chrome would only display "Aw, Snap", and so I rebooted. Unfortunately, while rebooting, I got the kernel error thing with all the different languages at the Apple screen. So I rebooted again and it just stayed at the white screen. So I rebooted again into single-user mode and did a disk check, everything was fine but I saw "disk0s2 I/O error" a few times.
I exited and booted it back up. When I booted it back up it couldn't find my wireless mouse for a couple of minutes. Chrome still displayed "Aw, Snap". I repaired permissions and verified the disk. Everything was good. I start up Logic to see how much work I lost. It asked for my serial key. When my other HD was dying it would always do that with Logic.
Rebooted once more, everything's working fine again.
Look I guess I'm answering my own question here, and I suppose I need to back up everything I've got while I have a chance, but I guess mainly I'm looking for some reassurance. I've only had this thing for like a week since I got it back. This is breaking my heart. I can't just get a new HD every few weeks and go about installing 200GB worth of sounds and whatnot. Please someone tell me I'm crazy and things like this happen from time to time. The computer was working just fine until a few minutes ago.
Apple sure knows how to bring a grown man to tears, I swear.

    Welcome to Apple Support Discussions.
Well you are wise to backup. Due to the possibility of two failures so soon I'd take a look at the power you are plugging into. If you are plugging directly into the wall or using an inexpensive power strip that could be creating problems for you. I would recommend buying a UPS that can support your machine, this will help provide more stable power to your machine.
Because HD's are mechanical devices they can go out at any time, some last weeks some last months and some last many many years. Unfortunately there isn't any way to predict their life span.
To check your drive run Apple Hardware Test and see if you come up with any errors.
Because your machine is covered by warranty and this may be the second HD failure when you take it into the Apple Store you should bring this up.
    Regards,
    Roger
