Multi line dialog box

I am using my first java bean in an oracle forms application.
The bean creates a dialog box via :
sReturn = JOptionPane.showInputDialog(null, text, title, icon);
My problem is that i am trying to have the user enter a multi line address and ctrl_Enter , tab and enter keys all close the dialog box at the end of the fist line.
How do i provide for multi-lines?
Thanks

  • How can I create a multi-line combo box?

    I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 and I am trying to create a multi-line combo box on my fillable form.  At the bottom of this form/letter I would like to have a several paragraps that the user can choose from, but it's only allowing me to enter one line at a time.  Any help??

    Hi, Did you find the answer to this? I'm looking to create a combo box with multi-lines

  • Is there a proper way to config multi-line text boxes so they're compatible with all/most browsers?

    I've got forms that use multi-line text-boxes and they work fine with IE and Chrome.  A user just discovered that in Firefox the fields don't wrap (it basically appears to be a large field but acts like a single-line).
    Is there a workaround/fix for this?

    Is the input text just some dummy text line e.g. "aaaaaaaaaaaaa...." without any spaces? Try by adding lorem ipsum sample text i.e. actual words with spaces between. It should wrap.

    Firefox 37.01 —Here's a screenshot of it not wrapping:
    (each of the above are 2 long paragraphs that are not wrapping and showing as 2 single lines.)
    And here's a screenshot of Text Box Properties (I've tried it with and without autocomplete and spell-check just for kicks).

  • Can Captivate 5 support multi-line text boxes?

    A colleague is trying to add a text box, where the user will need to enter multiple lines...  We don't want word wrap, we actually want the user to be able to add carriage returns and additional lines...  Is that possible?
    If the text box element can't do multiple lines, is there a way to accomplish this using a different canned element? (non-klunky, I've read the 3-year-old thread on this topic.)
    Thanks in advance

  • Combo Box Edits in acrobat Forms, how to do a multi-line combo box?

    Could only create a one-liners for this editable combo box, is there a way to create a multi-line like the other fields?

    Nope. But you can set up a multiline text field that gets populated with the complete text you want when an item is selected from a combo box.The combo box items might be abbreviated or coded versions of the complete text you want to display.

  • How do I create a multi-line text box?

    I have a PDF that was tradionally printed and filled out by hand, and am trying to convert to an e-version.
    Everything is working great but I can't figure out how to make this one thing work. For example I have a section like this:
    More Info: _______________
    How can I make it so when one starts typing in the "More Info" section, their response continues from the 1st line to the 2nd, to the 3rd, etc.?

    You can set a text field to be multi-line and tick off the option to scroll
    long text to have it automatically wrap, but you'll have a problem with the
    first partial line, since form fields can only be rectangular. Another
    problem might be the lines themselves, since you'll have to use a font size
    that will fit them exactly, or it will look odd. I would suggest getting
    rid of those lines altogether. They are not needed when filling in the form
    electronically. It's a relic from printed out forms where people had to
    hand-write their answers.

  • How do I increase the leading in a multi-line text box?

    Is this possible?
    I did find this one posting from a few years ago where someone was asking a similar question:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/286972
    Was this feature ever added? If not - how can I make the code work posted in reply to that post?  Just hiding the lines would be a good alternative, I think. I tried adding the code to my existing PDF but it doesn't appear to do anything, the lines are still visible when you type into the field.

    No, leading control has not been added and it probably never will be.
    The code in that other thread is not complete since the functions that he's calling are not shown. They are not built-in. Here is a link to a document with a multiline field that behaves this way: https://workspaces.acrobat.com/?d=AG6oZ3bi3DYHokxDPeWN7A
    There are several small scripts in various events that control the behavior.

  • File name display in delete dialog box

    In the course of working with photos in Lightroom, I've noticed a small user interface issue that can lead to confusion while deleting photos.
    In Explorer, a highlighted file is directly tied to any action selected via right click. For example, if I have file1 selected and I right click on file2, the focus changes to file2 and it is highlighted.
    In Lightroom, the highlight does not follow when an image is selected via right click. If I'm viewing photo1 and it is highlighted, right clicking on photo2 only changes the filename display above the filmstrip.
    Normally, this change in filename display would be sufficient visual feedback to be comfortable while deleting a file. However, if Lightroom is in the process of "Loading..." an image, there is sometimes a delay in the filename display update and more than once, I've had to pause to make sure I'm deleting the proper image.
    I've noticed this most frequently when switching back from Photoshop. If I've opened a Lightroom image in Photoshop (as a PSD) but decided not to move forward with the work, I'll switch back to Lightroom to delete the newly-created PSD. During this process, I'll hit a "Loading..." delay and and the filename display above the filmstrip will lag as I try to right click and delete what I think is the PSD.
    A simple solution, and one that I'd suspect users would appreciate given the value of RAW images, would be to display the name of the file(s) being deleted in the confirmation dialog box. If it's an important enough decision to warrant a multi-option dialog box, I think there's obvious value in confirming what is being deleted.
    Another item that came to mind -- It would be great if there was a preference setting that locked the user from deleting RAW images. That way, I'd never have to worry about selecting a RAW instead of a PSD and it would address some of the anxiety that comes with placing master images so close to PSDs from later in the workflow.

    Hi
    You can not use  File-Upload UI element inside confirmation dialog ,because there is no provision to add any UI ,except Button.
    Please avoid  my previous reply .

  • How to expand multi-line fields in pdf forms?

    I have a FormsCentral PDF form, which allows users to fill out the form and save as a PDF. However, after receiving the completed forms, I am unable to see all the text in the multi-line field boxes without opening them and scrolling down. Since I will be sharing several of these competed forms with a review panel, I would like to:
    1) Display the entire content of the multi-line field boxes rather than having the reader scroll down, then
    2)  Save the completed forms so that its read-only when I send it to the review panel
    I am not collecting responses via FormsCentral. I am just receiving the PDF via email.
    Can someone please help me?
    Thank you!

    You can use a script to change the font size to Auto, which will cause all of the text to display, assuming it can be even at a font size of 4. For example, the following code can be executed in the interactive JavaScript console (Ctrl+J):
    // Set the font size to Auto for a text field named "Text1"
    getField("Text1").textSize = 0;
    A script that will change this for all multline fields in the form is:
    // Set the font size for all multiline fields to Auto
    for (var i = 0; i < numFields; i++) {
        var fName = getNthFieldName(i);
        var f = getField(fName);
        if (f.type === "text" && f.multiline && f.textSize !== 0) {
            f.textSize = 0;
    This script could be included in an Action if you want to do this for a collection of forms.

  • Enter Text in Multi Line TextBox and New Lines

    Hi Guys,
    I have a form that takes a users input and saves to an access
    database.
    The data is in turn drawn by a recordset and displayed on an
    ASP page using VBS.
    The form that takes the info has 1 textbox thats multi line
    and I want it to be a simple input box except when the user adds a
    line break by hitting return I want this to be reflected when the
    record is drawn to the detais page..
    Just now no matter how many times I hit return key when
    typing in the multi line text box and add paragraphs or simple
    sentances they all come out with no line breaks on the page when
    shown???
    Do I have to make my own rich text box editor? or is there
    something Im missing?
    Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

    InterAKT was acquired by Adobe in September and most of its
    products
    were discontinued. The full version of KTML is now part of
    the
    Kollection suite.
    The solution to your problem is very simple, though. I'm
    sorry I can't
    give you the exact coding, because I haven't used ASP for
    many years.
    However, all that you need to do is to create a function that
    searches a
    string for new line characters and replaces them with
    <br> (or <br />
    for XHTML).
    PHP has a built-in function (nl2br()) to do this, but in ASP
    you need to
    search for the new line character code.

    I can point you to some online information.  I really don't know the steps myself.
    This blog talks about how to do it in LiveCycle Designer: http://blogs.uoregon.edu/developments/2010/12/29/pdf-making-text-fields-grow-to-accommodat e-text/comment-page-1/
    You could also consider asking the user in this post for their idea on how to do it without making a dynamic form (LiveCycle): http://forums.adobe.com/message/4841774
    Is there a reason you don't use FormsCentral to collect the responses?  You could sign up for a 1-month subscription unless you have security or other reasons not to collect with FormsCentral, and then you'd be able to collect your responses and download each one as a PDF form individually and that form would be locked and have expanded text fields.  You could stop automatic renewal and you would still have access to the form and responses in your Free level account (but could not collect more than 50 responses, if you already have greater than 50 those would remain).
    Thanks,
    Josh

  • Lines in dialog boxes only

    I just upgraded to a mac pro with an ATI 2600 video card. I get two horizontal lines in dialog boxes.Never had this with my old G4. All other windows and desktops are fine. Anyone know how to fix this?

    An update to my question. Problem remains when running in safe mode. So no ovious startup item conflict. Etc.
    Problem disappears if I create a new user! So what is different between a new user and an old user running in safe mode?

  • Cannot print to canon MP160, dialog box says printer off line, but it is on line, OK printing with IE

    I just installed the Canon MP160 printer. I downloaded the driver software from Canon version 12.1.4.0.(2/8/2008). I can print documents fine from Internet Explorer. When I go to print from Firefox the printer dialog box says the printer is "off line" and I get printer queue error messages. I can also print OK from windows. I have a PC 32 bit with Windows Vista.

    I think your issue is that even though you have the latest 10.2.0 driver for 10.9, you added the printer using the previous v2.43 PPD. So open Print & Scan, remove the current printer for the iRC3380 and click the plus button to add again. After selecting IP > LPD and entering the IP address, ensure you select "Canon iR C2880/C3380" in the Use menu. Note that there is no mention of UFRII in the model name, as is the case with the previous UFR2 v2.43 driver.
    Thanks for the suggestion.  I did that this morning (see Step 1) and deleted the existing printer before re-adding a new printer and using the newly updated driver and printer description.  Here's what I get:
    You can see my model number is listed in there as is the the proprietary Canon UFRII language.
    Once added, here's what happens next:
    So it would appear, at this point, that the printer is installed and communicating and that I should be good to print.
    Alas, I get the same error message I've been getting.  back to square one.

  • When I attempt to access my IRA account on line, I get a message saying that the web site requires a client certificate. The certificates listed in the drop down dialog box don't get accepted, even though one is indicated as valid and good until 10/2014.

    When I attempt to access my IRA account on line, I get a message saying that the web site requires a client certificate. The certificates listed in the drop down dialog box don't get accepted, even though one is indicated as valid and good until October 2014. I contacted the IRA account managment company and they sais it's an Apple issue. Any ideas?

    Some websites require a special client certficate for access. If you don't have that certficate, you'll have to contact the site operator to find out how to get one.
    Sometimes the problem is caused by a web server that is configured to request an optional client certificate. Safari treats the request as mandatory. In that case, other browsers such as Firefox and Chrome may be able to connect to the site, because they ignore the request.
    The first time you were prompted for a certificate, you may have clicked through a dialog that requested access to the Apple certificate in your keychain that is used to secure the iMessage service. In that case, you may be able to regain access to the site in Safari by doing as follows.
    Back up all data.
    Double-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    com.apple.idms.appleid.prd
    Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
    Paste into the search field in the Keychain Access window by clicking in it and pressing the key combination command-V. An item may appear in the list of keychain items. The Name will begin with string you searched for, and the Kind will be "certificate."
    Delete the item by selecting it and pressing the delete key. It will be recreated automatically the next time you launch the Messages or FaceTime application.
    The next time you visit a site that prompts for an optional client certificate, cancel out of the prompt. You may have to do this several times before the server stops asking.

  • How can I add form field value to the file name in save as dialog box

    I do not want the form to be saved automatically, just want the form to auto populate the "file name" only.
    A little background on the forms I want to use:  My company has 70 retail outlets, I'll use one of our pdf forms called an "Incident Report" as an example.  I would like for a store manager to be able to complete the form, then email the form to the main office (I already have javascript to add field values and form name to the email subject line), once the main office receives it, I want for them to be able to file the pdf electronically on our server.  We have mutliple forms that we use so I do not want any of the forms to automatically save anywhere, (at this time anyway) I just want the office personnel to be able to click "save as" (or whatever they will need to click) and the form automatically add certain field values from the pdf they have received, of which will be different each time the form is sent to the office (Date, store #, employee name etc.) in addition to the name of the form in the "File name" of the "Save As" dialog box.  The main office employees will decide into which server file the pdf should be saved.
    I'm using Acrobat 8 professional, the stores and office personnel use Adobe reader.
    One little note:  We currently print and file a lot of paper on a daily bases, as soon as I can get this to work, we are going green.
    Me and a lot of trees in this will really apprecitate any help you can give with this!  :-)

    You might want to take a look at the document "Developing Acrobat Applications Using JavaScript" (js_developer_guide.pdf) which is part of the Adobe Acrobat SDK, which can be downloaded here. Read the "Privileged versus non-privileged context" (p. 45ff.). You will find an example for "Executing privileged methods in a non-privileged context". Should be almost exactly what you are looking for.
    Small Outline: For security reasons ("the user always has to know what's going on") you are not allowed to use the "Doc.saveAs"-method without the user permission (--> in a non-privileged context). In order to reach the goal of a privileged context you can use a trusted function. You do this by creating a JavaScript file (*.js) in either the Application-JavaScript-Folder (default location on Windows systems: "%ProgramFiles%\Adobe\Acrobat 10.0\Acrobat\Javascripts") or the User-JavaScript-Folder (default location on Windows systems: "%AppData%\Adobe\Acrobat\10.0\JavaScripts"). Add the following content to the new file:
    myTrustedBrowseForDoc = app.trustedFunction( function ( oArgs ) {
         app.beginPriv();
              var myTrustedRetn = app.browseForDoc( oArgs );
         app.endPriv();
         return myTrustedRetn;
    myTrustedSaveAs = app.trustedFunction( function ( doc, oArgs ) {
         app.beginPriv();
              var myTrustedRetn = doc.saveAs( oArgs );
         app.endPriv();
         return myTrustedRetn;
    The developer guide actually wants you to add this content to the existing "config.js" file. I recommend creating a new file, since its easier to deploy in a network. Either way, every client/user who needs to be able to save documents this way, needs this JavaScript Code in his Application/User-JavaScript-Folder.
    Within the Acrobat Document, which you want to obtain a certain file name, you can now use the trusted functions "myTrustedBrowseForDoc" and "myTrustedSaveAs" to store the file. To call the trusted functions and deliver the file name you can either you use a form field (button) or you add a new menu item. Add the following JavaScript Action to the button/menu item and change "Roller Coaster" to the name of the field which contains the value which you want to become the new file name:
    var fileName = this.getField("Roller Coaster").valueAsString;
    try {
         var oRetn = myTrustedBrowseForDoc({bSave: true, cFilenameInit: fileName + ".pdf"});
         try {
              myTrustedSaveAs(this, { cPath: oRetn.cPath, cFS:oRetn.cFS });
         catch(e) {
              console.println("Save not allowed, perhaps readonly.");
    catch(e) {
    console.println("User cancelled Save As dialog box");
    Good Luck!
