Multiple datasources for Mapviewer WMS

Hello,
I have set up a WMS server using mapviewer. I have data sources "prod" and "pub", one is default configured like this in the WMS configuration:
<wms_config host="myhost" port="8080"
protocol="http" default_datasource="wms"
public_datasources="prod,pub">
The problem I am facing is when I am trying to get layers from the "pub" datasource. Most of the applications I am using throws me the following errors:
"The WMS server returned no data from the GetMap request" , "Layer NotDefined" , "Invalid Layer requested" or this other one from QGIS:
"Map request error (Status: 200; Response: <?xml version = '1.0' encoding = 'UTF-8'?>
<!DOCTYPE ServiceExceptionReport SYSTEM "http://schemas.opengis.net/wms/1.1.1/WMS_exception_1_1_1.dtd">
<ServiceExceptionReport version="1.1.1">
<ServiceException code="LayerNotDefined">
<![CDATA[<oms_error>
<![CDATA[
OMS: MAPVIEWER-00003: SQL error occurred while generating map.
]]>
</oms_error>]]>
</ServiceException>
</ServiceExceptionReport> "
I tried to add the DATAOURCE Mapviewer parameter but I still get these same errors.
When I switch "pub" from public_datasources to default_datasource everything works fine. It seems that I can get layers only from the default datasource. The problem is that I use several database intances and I relly need to have all datasources working.
Could you help me to know if I'm using it the wrong way or if it is a known bug ?
Thank you

Hi Sachin,
The basi answer is yes. The other infoobjects will be empty if you load in two seperate update rules.
Remember one basic rule about cubes: you cannot change (in general) records in a cube that you have loaded previously.
But this does not mean the behaviour you want in queries is not correct.
Suppose you load the following:
CHAR A, CHAR B, CHAR C, KF 1
A1               C1      10
B1     C1       5
In this case a query on C1 will return 15, although a query for the values of B1 will only return 5.
hope it helps,
Tom

• Non-jdbc datasource for MapViewer

Is it possible to specify a non-jdbc datasource for Oracle MapViewer?
That is, if I want Mapviewer to access the database through my own data layer, or with an ORM, is it possible?
Thanks,
Rupesh

I copied jdbcdrv.zip intp C:\Program Files\Sybase\SQL
Anywhere 9\java
and using Java page in CF admin, added C:\Program
Files\Sybase\SQL Anywhere 9\java to classpath, restarted CF
Application server.
I then defined new datasources using existing ODBC dsns as
described in
http://www.ianywhere.com/developer/product_manuals/sqlanywhere/0902/en/html/dbpgen9/000001 52.htm
(doesn't seem kosher but that's what my model showed).
It's not exactly speedy but I've not gotten any errors yet
(maybe because it isn't speedy)
Anybody have any idea if there is another way that doesn't
use anODBC dsn ?

• Multiple datasource for Master data object

I need to enhance Customer master data with few attributes.
can i have a ztable with the fields needed and can i link this via a generic datasource to Customer master data ?
Can a master info objecte get data from more than one data sources?

hi,
in case the additional attributes are based on certain conditional fields present in another datasource then both datasources can be used .The data can be brought to respective write optimized DSOs and then linked through suitable routine.

• Change Multiple Datasource

Hi all,
Can we select more then one datasource at a time and change its package and transport. I know we can select multiple datasources for activation but how to do for changing package ?
Thanks
Mo

Hi,
Selecting one by one DS in RSA2 you can chenge the Package and Req No.
Goto RSA2 give DS and display and in Menu DataSource --> Object Directory then chenge the Package and Req.
Thanks

• Shall I use one datasource for multiple connection pool?

Hi,
I need to clarrify that, Shall I use one Datasource for multiple connection pool in distributed transaction?
Thanks with regards
Suresh

No. If its transactions across multiple databases you should use different datasources.

• Multiple DataSources of the same type (e.g. Peoplesoft Financials) in DAC

If I am definining multiple DataSources of the same type (e.g. Peoplesoft Financials) so as to extract data from multiple source ERP systems into a single DataWarehouse, should I have to define separate Data Source Numbers for each source database ?
I know the preseeded OBIA definitions provide different Data Source Number for Oracle Ebusiness Suite, Peoplesoft etc. But if I have the same ERP application and version in multiple source databases, how do I separate them ? Should I simply edit the Data Source Number and assign a new number to a new source ? Or do I have to copy some templates ?
Referring to Section 3.1.6 of the Oracle Business Intelligence Applications Configuration Guide (7.9.6.1).
Hemant K Chitale

Hemant,
The purpose of DATASOURCE_NUM_ID is to identify which source it's from.
In the Warehouse a combination of Integration_ID and DATASOURCE_NUM_ID defines the uniqueness.
In your case the Source System and Verison is the same so its not required to have different DATSOURCE_NUM_ID
but if for traceability you want to have one it then you can define it.
My advise would be to have one Datsource Num ID as defined for your version and Source System.

• Regarding Creation of Views and Multiple Datasources.

Dear All,
I hv a COreport(Cost Center Report).the data is coming from tables of CO,FI,SD,MM.
The Tables from CO are COEP,COSP,COSS,CSKS,CRHD,CSKU,CRCO,CSKB
The tables from SD are VBRK,KNA1
The Tables from MM are EKKO,LFA1.
The table from FI are SKAT,BKPF,BSIK,BSAK.
1)Can i create a view for these tables?Can a view be called a DS.
2)With these tables i hv Multiple DS's.So can i use Multiple DS's to extract data
3)Can i use FM to extract Data?If i use FM,vll i face errors during Support?
4)Please Guide me how to create Views for these tables and How to handle Multiple Datasources.
Thanks

Noor,
Have you checked suitable business content datasources.
I think you have lot of options
FIrst You need to have a multiple data source
--> Check for suitable business content datasources
--> check whether these details are already available in BW through any means (through other standard datasources to ODS)
--> Create customized extractor finally as a last option
All these tables are atandard and nost probably you would find a standard datasource ( again multiple) I am sure for costing you have standard
Few or more standard datasources or already existing BW objexts with 1 or 2(rarely) customized extractor would do the purpose that you look for,....
Good Luck !!!

• How to handle multiple datasources in a web application?

I have a J2EE Web application with Servlets and Java ServerPages. Beside this I have a in-house developed API for certain services built using Hibernate and Spring with POJO's and some EJB.
There are 8 databases which will be used by the web application. I have heard that multiple datasources with Spring is hard to design around. Considering that I have no choice not to use Spring or Hibernate as the API's are using it.
Anyone have a good design spesification for how to handle multiple datasources. The datasource(database) will be chosen by the user in the web application.

Let me get this straight. You have a web application that uses spring framework and hibernate to access the database. You want the user to be able to select the database that he wants to access using spring and hibernate.
Hopefully you are using the Spring Framework Hibernate DAO. I know you can have more that one spring application context. You can then trying to load a seperate spring application context for each database. Each application context would have it's own configuration files with the connection parameters for each datasource. You could still use JNDi entries in the web.xml for each datasource.
Then you would need a service locater so that when a user selected a datasource he would get the application context for that datasource which he would use for the rest of his session.
I think it is doable. It means a long load time. And you'll need to keep the application contexts as small as possible to conserve resources.

Would anyone be able to point me in the right direction with this? Configuring the Datasources through the Admin Console creates a single Datasource configuration file that contains its relevent connection pool configuration, but the Weblogic Upgrade wizard creates a Datasource config file and a separate connection pool config file. What would I need to do to use the config files generated by the Weblogic Upgrade wizard?
Any help appreciated
Thanks

Simplified JDBC Resource Configuration
In WebLogic Server 9.0, the number of JDBC resource types was reduced to simplify JDBC configuration and to reduce the likelihood
of configuration errors. Instead of configuring a JDBC connection pool and then configuring a data source or tx data source to
point to the connection pool and bind to the JNDI tree, you configure a data source that encompasses a connection pool.
Note: Because of the new configuration design, you can no longer have multiple data sources that point to a single connection
pool. Instead, you can create additional data sources, each with its own pool of connections, or you can bind a single data source
to the JNDI tree with multiple names. See Binding a Data Source to the JNDI Tree with Multiple Names for more information.

Would anyone be able to point me in the right direction with this? Configuring the Datasources
through the Admin Console creates a single Datasource configuration file that contains its relevent
connection pool configuration, but the Weblogic Upgrade wizard creates a Datasource config file and
a separate connection pool config file. What would I need to do to use the config files generated
by the Weblogic Upgrade wizard?
Any help appreciated
Thanks

• Can I use 2 datasources for UME?

Hi Experts,
I want to use 2 datasources for UME, LDAP as primary DS, UME own DB as second DS.
Actually, i want to do that if it can't find an account in LDAP, the system will try to retrieve this account in UME own DB.
Can I do that in EP7.0??
Regards,
Sidney

Sidney,
You can configure UME with max user management/AD servers at a time.
Its called multi-domain authentication
It will require a change in the UME xml file.
You can read more here -

• [Help] Cannot create datasource in Mapviewer

Hello. When I deploy MapViewer in OC4J standalone and log as oc4jadmin, i cannot create datasource for it. I edited mapViewerConfig.xml like this:
<map_data_source name="kuba"
jdbc_host="localhost"
jdbc_sid="orcl"
jdbc_port="1521"
jdbc_user="kuba"
jdbc_password="!BazaOracle1"
jdbc_mode="thin"
number_of_mappers="3"
allow_jdbc_theme_based_foi="true"
/>
After saving and restarting MapViewer, in datasource table there's no items. Any idea, what's wrong? Here's the log:

• Business components from multiple datasources

Hi All,
I want to create business components from multiple datasource. Please tell me if it is possible in ADF framework and Jdeveloper 11.1.1.4
I opened the Model.jpx and tried adding the two datasource but it is showing as a dropdown list from which I can choose only one.
My requirement is to have components from one datasource and read data from a second database to create a LOV
Please suggest how to go about it
Thanks

Hi,
There are many ways to achieve this.
If your requirement is just to read data from different database (and not to update it), then using a database link would be a better approach.
You could create a database link in the primary database (target database being the one you would like to query). Base your sql query for the vo using the db link.

• Standard DataSource For Excise Related Data

Hi,
Please tell me are there available any standard DataSources for Excise Related Data like Excise Invoice Header data (Table j_1iexchdr), Excise Invoice Item details (Table j_1iexcdtl), Excise Groups (Table j_1iexgrps), Excise Part II details (Table J_1IPART2) etc.
If those are available in ECC 6.0, then please provide the information or for this I need to develop generic datasource?
Regards,
Pradip Nikam

Hi,
There is no Standard DS for Excise.
I created the Generic Dss on those tables with delta enabled in my last project. And they are running successfully.
I created 2 DSs on the same table , one with delta enabled on Created date and another one with delta enabled on Changed date ( Wherever this field is there in the base table). And used Lower limit as 1 as safty delta so that I was able to do delta loads multiple times in a day.

A list:
This would really suck. I can not think of any good reason to
use this
horrible method.
<cfset request.dataSource = 'aDSN,bDSN'>
You would then access these values like this.
<cfquery
datasoruce="#listGetAt(request.dataSource,2)#"...>
Define as many Datasources as you need and use them in your
code. Its
just data.
Go whole hog and build a CFC that has methods that you can
pass a
parameter into and it will return the DSN.
<cfquery
datasource="#myCFCvariable.getDSN(aValue)#"...>
OK! This one is probably overkill.

• Multiple Datasources Problem WSAD4.0.3

Hi,
I am using WSAD4.0.3 in our project. For our application we have an Oracle 9i DB. I created a Datasource in WSAD Test Server with JNDI name as jdbc/ds1. For one of the task i have to connect to a entire different Oracle 9i DB. This is only for this module. The rest of the application uses the first DB. I have created a second Datatsource with JNDI name as jdbc/ds2. From my DAOs i pass the jndi name to get the connection to the corresponding database. From the EJB test client i was able to run my EJBs, connect using ds2 and run my queries.
The problem i am facing is once the server connects to a database, and afterwards for my next task if i was trying to get connection to the other database, i am not getting any code errors. But apparently the datasource is still connected to the first database and that is giving me a Table or View does not exist error. Its happening both ways. First connects through ds1 when i login to our project. If i do something related to that same database, it works. But if i try getting connection through ds2, i get table does not exist error, because its executing the query in the first database and those tables obviously dont exit in that DB.
I was able to get direct connection to the second database from my DAO. But thats not what i want to do, because i foresee us updating table in 3-4 different databases for this task and we want to use Datatsources because we have change the code whenever they make changes to the Database or the machines where it is.
Could someone please help me on my problem. Any kind of input is appreciated.
Thanks,
Ravi.

Hi Ravi,
I'm not sure I understand your problem. I too use WSAD and have multiple datasources configured for each database I need to connect to without issue. However, it sounds as if you are trying to use the datasources to connect to different db's such as 1 for dev, 1 for test, 1 for qa(?). So you want the datasources to dynamically allow you to run the same code against different db instances. Is this the case?
If so, I'd suggest using the same datasource as default, but configure your system (and I think it can be done in the datasource but I'm not positive) to use property file which defines the db you wish to connect to. You'd still need a restart, but no code changes other than to tweak the property file (and WSAD can be set up to store the data in memory which allows you to write a seperate class which could refresh the memory on changes without a restart).
