Non-jdbc datasource for MapViewer

Is it possible to specify a non-jdbc datasource for Oracle MapViewer?
That is, if I want Mapviewer to access the database through my own data layer, or with an ORM, is it possible?
Thanks,
Rupesh

I copied jdbcdrv.zip intp C:\Program Files\Sybase\SQL
Anywhere 9\java
and using Java page in CF admin, added C:\Program
Files\Sybase\SQL Anywhere 9\java to classpath, restarted CF
Application server.
I then defined new datasources using existing ODBC dsns as
described in
http://www.ianywhere.com/developer/product_manuals/sqlanywhere/0902/en/html/dbpgen9/000001 52.htm
(doesn't seem kosher but that's what my model showed).
It's not exactly speedy but I've not gotten any errors yet
(maybe because it isn't speedy)
Anybody have any idea if there is another way that doesn't
use anODBC dsn ?

• Multiple datasources for Mapviewer WMS

Hello,
I have set up a WMS server using mapviewer. I have data sources "prod" and "pub", one is default configured like this in the WMS configuration:
<wms_config host="myhost" port="8080"
protocol="http" default_datasource="wms"
public_datasources="prod,pub">
The problem I am facing is when I am trying to get layers from the "pub" datasource. Most of the applications I am using throws me the following errors:
"The WMS server returned no data from the GetMap request" , "Layer NotDefined" , "Invalid Layer requested" or this other one from QGIS:
"Map request error (Status: 200; Response:

</oms_error>
</ServiceException>
</ServiceExceptionReport> "
I tried to add the DATAOURCE Mapviewer parameter but I still get these same errors.
When I switch "pub" from public_datasources to default_datasource everything works fine. It seems that I can get layers only from the default datasource. The problem is that I use several database intances and I relly need to have all datasources working.
Could you help me to know if I'm using it the wrong way or if it is a known bug ?
Thank you

Hi Sachin,
The basi answer is yes. The other infoobjects will be empty if you load in two seperate update rules.
Remember one basic rule about cubes: you cannot change (in general) records in a cube that you have loaded previously.
But this does not mean the behaviour you want in queries is not correct.
Suppose you load the following:
CHAR A, CHAR B, CHAR C, KF 1
A1               C1      10
B1     C1       5
In this case a query on C1 will return 15, although a query for the values of B1 will only return 5.
hope it helps,
Tom

• Setup MySQL datasource for Sun ONE Studio

Hello all,
I've tried to post this message on the Sun ONE studio forum, however, there were compilation errors with JSP pages. As I needed the answer urgently, I decided to get some help here.
I've successfully made connection to MySQL database during the CMP development. However, when I tried to run it, it said the JNDI Datasource can't be blank and provide username & password if necessary. I went back and gave it a name as jdbc/MySQL, and also provided the username & password. I then reran the app, and I got the following error
java.rmi.ServerException: RemoteException occurred in server thread; nested exception is: java.rmi.RemoteException: Unable to get JDBC DataSource for CMP ....
I've mounted the mysql.jar and hacked some other things to no success. Please help.
Thanks & regards,

• XE Datasource for Weblogic 10.3?

Am attempting to create a XE JDBC datasource for WebLogic 10.3.
Where do I find the driver for this database?
Are there any 'tricks' to configuring this datasource?
THANKS - Casey

The Oracle JDBC drivers supplied with WebLogic 10.3 are for Oracle 11 and compatible with Oracle 10. Oracle XE is a stripped down Oracle 10.2. Therefore no need to install the Oracle XE specific JDBC drivers.

• Weblogic : Creating JDBC Datasources

Dear All,
I'm newbie in weblogic . Please anyone guide me to create JDBC datasources for POSTGRESQL in steps.I've googled a lot for this. but i couldn't make it out. I'm using weblogic latest release 11g.Thanks in advance.

Steps to configure a datasource can be found here: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E21764_01/apirefs.1111/e13952/taskhelp/jdbc/jdbc_datasources/CreateDataSources.html
As your Database Type, you can select postgresql from the drop down list.
You also have to add the jar file that contains the postgresql drivers to the classpath.
You add this to the <middleware-home>/user_projects/domains/<domain-name>/lib directory (after this you have to restart your server)

• JCA / JDBC Configured for non-XA Attempting XA Transaction Commit

I am attempting to create simple BPEL SOA composites in SOA 11.1.1.5 that use a DbAdapter to execute a stored procedure in an 11g database. The database task being performed only involves a single database and does not require transaction support. I have carefully stepped through the creation of the DataSource and JCA pointing through the DbAdapter to the JDBC DataSource so XA transaction support is disabled, the JCA pool sets the transaction mode to "No transaction" and the JCA pool uses the dataSource value to point to the JNDI name of the JDBC pool rather than the xADataSource value.
Visually,
DataSource definition:
name = jdbc/myserviceDataSource
driver = oracle.jdbc.xa.client.OracleXADataSource
url = jdbc:oracle:thin:@mydbhost.myfirm.com:1521:GENERIC
use XA DataSource = unchecked
set XA timeout = unchecked
Keep XA connection until transaction complete = checked
keep connection after local transaction = checked
JCA definition:
name = eis/DB/myserviceDataSource
dataSourceName = jdbc/myserviceDataSource
xADataSourceName = (blank)
platform class name = org.eclipse.persistence.platform.database.Oracle10Platform
Transaction | Transaction Support: no transaction
This configuration works on one sandbox server and I got it working in a second sandbox server. However, after deleting the JDBC and JCA pools to go through the process one more time to document the procedure on the second server, I am unable to get the configuration working again. The WebLogic domain appears to be resurrecting portions of an old configuration that still references the JNDI name of the JDBC pool in the xADataSourceName parameter. I have unpacked the DbAdapter.rar archive for the DbAdapter and verified the contents of the ./META-INF/weblogic-ra.xml file don't use the xADataSouceName parameter. The Deployment Plan for the DbAdapter (named DbAdapterPlan.xml in $SOA_HOME/soa/connectors ) also explicitly configures the JCA pool using the dataSourceName value leaving the xADataSourceName value blank.
However, executing the SOA service using this JCA connection results in this error:
java.sql.SQLException: Cannot call Connection.commit in distributed transaction.
Again, I know the theoretical answer to this question is to disable transactions in the JCA and JDBC configurations and don't use the xADataSourceName element of the JCA configuration to point to the JDBC pool. However, after validating those elements and restarting the pools or performing an Update on the DbAdapter deployment, WebLogic seems to still create connections through the JDBC pool with transactions enabled.
Any suggestions?
Should I just completely undeploy the DbAdapter and redeploy it from the SOA binary installation directory? These are just lab machines right now so that's obviously not a good long term answer for production use but may help start over with refining a better procedure for doing this.

You should use a non-xa driver for your data source...
From the weblogic docs...
Configure Transaction Options
When you configure a JDBC data source using the Administration Console, WebLogic Server automatically selects specific transaction options based on the type of JDBC driver:
For XA drivers, the system automatically selects the Two-Phase Commit protocol for global transaction processing.
For non-XA drivers, local transactions are supported by definition, and WebLogic Server offers the following options ...
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/web.1111/e13737/jdbc_datasources.htm#autoId8

• JNDI lookup() for sql server jdbc datasource returns null

Hi,
I am trying to use a jdbc datasource in tomcat 5 to access a sql server 2000 database. I had many common problems and did found an answer to them in the forums but I'm having one last (I hope) problem. My program is also using a mySQL datasource and it works fine.
The problem is that my lookup returns null. No exception, just null. It seems that many people had this problem but I didn't found any answer to it.
This is the lookup code:
Context ctx = new InitialContext();
Context envCtx = (Context)ctx.lookup("java:comp/env");
axaptaDS = (DataSource) envCtx.lookup("jdbc/axapta"); //returns null :(This my context.xml config:
<ResourceParams name="jdbc/axapta">
<parameter>

<value>com.microsoft.jdbcx.sqlserver.SQLServerDataSourceFactory</value>
</parameter>
<parameter>

</parameter>

<value>5000</value>
</parameter>
<parameter>

<value>com.microsoft.jdbcx.sqlserver.SQLServerDataSource</value>
</parameter>
<parameter>

<value>username</value>
</parameter>
<parameter>

<value>2</value>
</parameter>
</ResourceParams>And I also put these lines in my web.xml file:
<resource-ref id="ResourceRef_1092254277306">
<res-ref-name>jdbc/axapta</res-ref-name>
<res-type>javax.sql.DataSource</res-type>
<res-auth>Container</res-auth>
<res-sharing-scope>Shareable</res-sharing-scope>
</resource-ref>Thanks for helping!

I finally found a remedy to this problem:
specify this driver instead and remove the entry about the factory in the context's .xml file:

• Changing JDBC Datasource Configuration for Report with Sub reports at once

The Env details are as follows
CR Developer
Version 14.0.2.364 RTM
We are using JDBC Connection Datasource for our CR2011 report which contains 30+ sub reports. Each of the sub report uses a JDBC Datasource to connect to Postgres database and Since the JDBC connection string changes on each environment we need to edit each sub report every time we switch environments.
Is there a easy way to accomplish this on all sub reports at one shot?
I am aware that if we use ODBC connection it would be easy since we can just change the DSN config and it will start working. But we are not using ODBC connection since We are seeing that our report (with too many sub reports) crashes when we use ODBC driver for Postgres.
Any help/suggestion would be appreciated.

creating JDBC XA procedures
instxa.sql completed successfully.
3.Verified that MSDTC service is running on both SQL Server and weblogic machines with XA Transaction enabled and DTC option enabled for both inbound and outbound connections.
4.Copied sqljdbc.jar (version 3.0 downloaded from msdn portal) to "C:\Oracle\Middleware\wlserver_10.3\server\ext\jdbc\sqlserver" directory and updated weblogic_classpth variable in commEnv.cmd file.
set WEBLOGIC_CLASSPATH=%JAVA_HOME%\lib\tools.jar;%BEA_HOME%\utils\config\10.3\config-launch.jar;%WL_HOME%\server\lib\weblogic_sp.jar;%WL_HOME%\server\lib\weblogic.jar;%FEATURES_DIR%\weblogic.server.modules_10.3.2.0.jar;%WL_HOME%\server\lib\webservices.jar;%ANT_HOME%/lib/ant-all.jar;%ANT_CONTRIB%/lib/ant-contrib.jar;C:\Oracle\Middleware\wlserver_10.3\server\ext\jdbc\sqlserver\server\ext\jdbc\sqlserver\sqljdbc.jar
Can some one please provide some input on whats causing this and any other steps needs to be followed to implement XA support using SQL Server JDBC driver.

You seem to have done everything correctly and diligently. I would ask that you open
an official support case.

• Create XA MultiDataSource with Non-XA DataSource(support global txn)

I have two datasources DataSource1 and DataSource2. Since my driver doesnt support XA, I am Emulating XA for these two data sources.
Now, I want to create a Multi Data Source and add these two data sources. Is there anyway I can Emulate XA for this Multi Data Source?

Thanks for your quick reply Joe.
The target for this multipool is single managed server(not a cluster). wee have a lot of resources like MQ, AQ,ORacle etc in the transaction. This datasource is for Tandem jdbc. We dont have XA jdbc driver for this and thats the reason we are emulating the XA.
We were using weblogic 9.2 and there we were able to setup XA Multipool with non xa pools (with XA emulated) without any issues. and now we are migrating to weblogic 9.2
This is what i did in weblogic 9.2 console.
1. Created DataSource1 and DataSource2. Both have GloablTrasactionSupport enabled with Emulate XA
2. Created a MultiDataSource. During creation, I selected non-XA driver and from the data source page, I added DataSource1 and DataSource2. (If I select XA driver, then the datasource selection page wont show DataSource1 and DataSource2 since it is non-XA)
The MultiDataSource is deployed without any issues. but when my application try to get a connection from MultiDataSource, it is throwing below exception.

• Cannot deploy application because of JDBC datasource target misconfigured

--- environnement ---
Weblogic 10.3.2
Windows 2008 R2
Sun Java 6
Hello, I'd like to have your advices on my issue.
I tried to deploy an application in my weblogic domain but it kept on status deploy running
My domain is configured as follow
clusterA and clusterB
JDBC datasource targets on clusterA and clusterB
Today we had to rename clusterB to clusterC
and we cannot start the managed servers (they stayed in ADMIN state) so we tried to redeploy the application but the deployment process'status was deploy running
After investigating for a very long time, we finaly noticed that our JDBC datasource was misconfigured. After correcting this, the deployement was successfull.
now I'm wondering how a misconfigured JDBC datasource can prevent a deployement of an ear, maybe the code is requesting something during its deployement but I don't know the application and looking at the stacktrace didn't give me any clue except the hibernate message.
Thanks in advance for your advices.
For info here's the stacktrace:

Hello,
Here is the solution...
Solution 1:
Undeploy sap.com/cafUIservicebrowser from SP06 or SP07 before starting upgrade to SP11.
Solution 2:
Upgrade to SP08 first and than to SP11.
The Solution was discussed on NW04s STAB and accepted due to following reasons:
- There will be not much customers upgrading from SP06 or SP07 to SP11. The most of customers have already upgraded to SP08 and will not be affected by this issue.
- Unchecking the Web Dynpro check before upgrades from from SP06 or SP07 to SP11 is unacceptable.
For More info, check the SAP Note 1010640

I doubt that Oracle 7 DB is not supported. You may consider raising a SR with support.

• Help Needed : Setting JDBC Datasource in Crystal XI using Sybase 12.5??

All,
We are migrating our systems to the Crystal XI from Crystal 9 Reporting Servers. I need some technical assistance on the Java API ( use of the Datasources) .
Problem: Currently in Crystal 9 we are using OLEDB datasources to connect to various Sybase 12.5 databases (which is been set programmatically at runtime). After I changed the Java code for getting the report object from the Crystal XI server instead of 9. I stared facing the dbLogon failed exceptions.. But surprisingly it does work randomly on only one datasource for a given session (AppServer Restart).
Need Help on Topics:
1. Is there any different way of configuring/usage the OLEDB datasources for CrXI? or any Java API changes while setting the datasource when using OLEDB?
2. Configuration required for using Simple JDBC connection (Sybase) instead of OLEDB? Can I get detailed help on this.
I will prefer using JDBC for CrXI using the Sybase 12.5, but there are very less documentation for how to configure and set databases at runtime.
Many Thanks in Adv.

Hi Sudhir,
For Building up a connection for OLEDB we need :
In order for Crystal Reports to connect to a database through OLE DB, there are some requirements that must be met:
u2022 The database client software must be installed on the client machine.
u2022 The client machine must be able to connect to the server from its client software
u2022 The client softwareu2019s working directory (example. c:\orant\bin) must be in the Windows search path
u2022 The OLE DB provider must be installed on the local machine.
We have the connection for crystal reports through OLEDB :
The process by which Crystal Reports access data from an OLE DB data source consists of these five layers:
Crystal Reports Layer
OLE DB Translation Layer
OLE DB Layer
DBMS Translation (OLE DB provider) Layer
Database Layer
The data translation is similar to the ODBC connection model. Crystal Reports uses CRDB_ADO.DLL to communicate to the OLE DB provider, which communicates to the database. Crystal Reports can connect to any database as long as that database has an OLE DB provider.
When creating a new report in Crystal Reports, OLE DB data sources are found in the Create New Connection folder with the OLE DB (ADO) connection.

Naveen.
