Multiple Language Problem

Hi Gurus,
In a query I am using the custom defined - Variable, Formula Variable & Formula, here variable are used for customer inputs. And when I am executing the query at English language I am getting the description for Variable, Formula Variables and Formula. But when I am executing the same query other than English language I am not getting the description for all of them and it was displaying the technical name of the Variables, due this problem end-user are not able to give the input values for query execution.
How I can maintain the multiple languages for Variable, Formula Variables and formulas.
Regards,
PRK

  • Database storage of multiple languages for name of a single entity

Surely I'm not the first person to have this problem, but I can't find many resources on how to solve this. Just some background on what I'm working with, I'm running a web application using the Struts framework with jdk 1.4 on a Weblogic 8.1 server connected to an Oracle 9i database, I'm using DAO for my persistence layer, and I'm not opposed to using any 3rd party software to assist in this task.
For example, say I have a database of DVDs, My application will retrieve the list of DVDs from the database to display to the user. Depending on the user's Locale I want to display the title of the DVD in that language.
This is a simple example, but the real-world application is much more complicated. The application is highly configurable meaning that through a configuration application, my internal users can add DVDs at any time, edit the title of the DVD, or add a new language that they want the title to display in, etc. When a customer logs in to the application front-end they will be able to change the language they want the application to display in at any time, and the application will need to reflect that change. The display of constant text like field labels and page text is easy using Struts but its this configurable dynamic text thats a bit more difficult.
Its obvious to me that I will need to store the multiple languages in the database in some way, I'm thinking of either storage in some xml format, or a new table hanging off the "dvd" table with languages for each dvd. Either of these options would work for my purposes, but I don't want to go reinvent the wheel when this same problem has arleady been solved. If someone could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it

One common way to handle this is to modify your key for the dvd title to include a locale identifier:
    key dvdtitle
    becomes
    key locale dvdtitle
Now your db can hold multiple translations of the same dvd title.

  • Why do I get a popup message in multiple languages requiring a shutdown and restart

Why do I keep getting a popup message in multiple languages requiring a shutdown and restart?  Has been going on for a few months.  Because of the shutdown reports have been sent to Apple upon restart.

After it restarted, did you see a dialog box resembling this one:
If so, next time it occurs click Report...
Before you send it to Apple, copy the text of the report. Paste it in a reply. Remove or obscure any personal information, should it appear.
If problems continues to occur please determine if they also occur in "Safe Mode":
Safe Mode or "Safe Boot" is a troubleshooting mode that bypasses all third party system extensions and loads only required system components. Read about it: Starting up in Safe Mode
Starting your Mac in Safe Mode will take longer than usual, graphics will not render smoothly, audio is disabled on some Macs, and some programs (iTunes for example) may not work at all.
To end Safe Mode restart your Mac normally. Shutdown will take longer as well.

  • When trying to load multiple language versions of an ibook onto my iPad only the first document loads

We have a sales tool that we have created for one of our clients in iBooks Author. They need the iBook creating in various languages.
We need to be able to supply the multiple versions of the same document (in the different languages) to our client and they need to be able to install the different versions onto their iPads. And they want the options of having multiple language versions on the same iPads.
We have already created two language versions of the document (a US English and an International English version).
The two documents have different file names, (although they are based on the same document). We have just changed the spelling of some words accordingly. (And we will be producing other language variants based on the master file).
We export the two documents via the File > Export > iBooks option. Then we are using Dropbox to upload the two files. The files are then accessed via the Dropbox App on the iPad.
We can download the first document (International English) onto the iPad and view it as normal, but when we try and then download the other document (US English) it downloads in the Dropbox App, but when you click on view in iBooks it opens the first (International English) document into iBooks.
You can only appear to have one version of the document installed at any one time. If you delete the first one you can then load the second one fine, but not both at the same time. If the file names are different it must be getting the identity of the document from somewhere else.
This has only started happening since using iBooks Author 2.
Can anyone offer any suggestions please. I've tried changing the version number in the option on export, but this doesn't seem to affect the result.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions
    John

Further to my earlier post we have now completed a test by saving our original document as a template, then creating a new document from the template, making necessary changes and saving as a new file. We can now upload the two separate versions to our iPad.
You cannot "duplicate" the file in any way, either by the File > Duplicate method from within iBooks Author or by simply Duplicating the original .iba file in the Finder, as this will cause the problem outlined above. By Duplicating you are obviously also duplicating this "hidden metadata" which is stored somewhere within the file which iBooks on the iPad is using to identify the documents. So unless Apple update the software to allow us to change that metadata we are stuck to using the Templates route. (Didn't have this problem on the last version of iBooks Author).
This works for what we are trying to do, which is create different language variants of the same book.
Working from Templates is probably the correct way to do it anyway, but might not necessarily be right for everyone.
Working in iBooks Author is proving to be a rather testing experience. You certainly need the patience of a Saint. Not sure it's of the standard we expect from Apple, but then I guess, as they are giving it away "free", they think they don't have to offer any support for it.
I think I would prefer to pay a fee for it and have a support route from Apple, rather than rely on a community of equally frustrated users who are all playing guinea pig and simply sharing their workarounds for a half baked product.
    Good luck to everyone!!!

  • How to deploy Adobe Photoshop CS4 11.0.1 update - multiple languages

    Hello
I used Creative Suite 4 Deployment Toolkit to modify Adobe CS4 installation. Installation works like a charm. I have disabled auto updates in the installation of CS4.
My problem is now finding guide or information how to deploy updates.
I have downloaded: Adobe Photoshop CS4 11.0.1 update - multiple languages from adobe.com.
Unpacked the zip and I dont see any files that I can modify to install the upgrades in silent mode. There is one setup.exe and two MSI files. I tired looking at MSI files in Wise but there was very little there.
Only information I could find was guide how to run silent updates for CS3, but I dont think its same for cs4.
I talked to Norwegian/Swedish support but that didnt get anywhere
Any info you guys can provide is greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much, this is exactly what I needed also! My deployment also worked well, but I couldn't figure out the syntax for the update.

  • How to deal with multiple language SQL script?

    Hi All,
We now want to create a SQL script that contains multiple languages(English, Chinese, Japanese), this script need to be run at there different database installed on different OS, for example, Oracle9i on Windows 2000 English Edition/Chinese Edition/Japanese Edition.
If I save the file as ANSI format, this file will only be recognized at local OS(e.g. the Chinese and Japanese character will not be normally displayed on other OS, if I run the script, the CH/JP characters will not be stored normally in DB).
If I save the file as Unicode format, this file can be recognized by all three OS, but Oracle SQL Plus will not recognize it, thus we can't run the script.
Who can tell me how to deal with this issue? Is it possible to save only one script that can run on different language OS?
    Thanks,
    Spark

    Hi,
The ISQLplus supports multiple languages, but there will be following problems for my case:
1.ISQLplus don't support Unicode format script too, so I must save the file as ANSI format.
2.To display the characters normally depends on the database server's platform. I create a script contain three languages with ANSI format in Chinese OS, but if I want to load this script to database server installed on English OS via ISQLplus, the Chinese characters will not be displayed normally too.
    PS:
So, I think this is not only related with Oracle but also the Windows OS, it is hard to create one file with ANSI format that can be displayed normally in different platforms.
    Thank you all the same,
    Spark

  • Multiple Language Menus

We're getting to the final stages of a multi-language DVD (subtitles and audio) and have been trying to figure the best method to work. Is is best to add languages and use the language sub-menus, or best to add separate menus for each language (3)? I see possible advantages in terms of scripting to each method.
We first set the basic functionality in english, using a language selection screen first and then a Chapters menu. On the Chapters page we are using stories to get around and back to the Chapter menu and are returning to the correct (next) button nicely. Be nice if this was this direct in the other languages so we wouldn't need to add a script for the 15 buttons.
We have added subtitles and have those working as well. We also have added the dubbed audio tracks. We've got the basic scripting of those elements, but now to get it all together.
Our Language Selection screen leads to language specific intro tracks, after which the viewer jumps to the Chapter selection menu. Do we need to specify which language via GPRM here? The problem I see is that I don't see how to get to a language-specific menu.
As above we added languages and have created the foreign text via photoshop layers. But will the user return to the appropriate language menu? I see how to script via GPRM, but the jump returns to the menu. Would the menu default to the player's language?
I've been looking high and low for resources and have some good stuff about GPRM scripting, but nothing that addresses the menu language issue.
    Leads and ideas appreciated.
    -Bill

Not getting an answer on this as the "BEST" way, and finding the manual (and other training book I bought on DVDSP) decidedly thin I tried it in two ways:
I first set up the disc in english and established the menu architecture and flow. We have a language selection screen first that leads users – after a language specific intro track – to a language-specific main chapter menu. We setup our stories to work in english first. We established the buttons for the other languages on that first page.
We tried to design the rest of it in two ways: via DVDSP multiple languages; and (the way that worked) through connecting menus (actually without referring to other languages on the DVD level) logically. That is to say we setup a Chinese menu, a Spanish Chapter menu, but they were an English language menu (according to the DVD authoring) that had Chinese characters or Spanish words on it and referred to Chinese (A3(Mandarin), A4(Cantonese) S3 Chinese subtitles) or Spanish (A2, S2) system streams.
    USING DVDSP to setup languages:
We added languages after establishing the architecture. This is great (in theory) because the stories and button jumps are copied into the foreign language sub-menus. All worked well EXCEPT jumping to the language specific sub-menu. I could set the jump to the menu, but couldn't figure how to jump to the specific language menu. I had scripted system streams for each of the dubbed audio and subtitle streams (all worked as advertised) but didn't know how to set the main language. with our three languages. When I added languages and DVDSP created separate menus (sub-menus? additional layered meus?) for each language (our main CHAPTERS page). But how to get there. It seems that the only way is to adjust the SPRM or language detection on the PLAYER level. But how can an english player view the Chinese menu?
I was able to use photoshop files to make each language menu (sub-menu?) with appropriate words and characters. But I couldn't get my head around how to get to each of the language menus. I could find only one menu: the Main Chapter selection Menu.
    WHAT WORKED:
As mentioned above we simply created logical architecture that led to different language menus that were language specific in terms of look, but still – from an authoring level – inside the DVD's one language (English).
One reason this is a decent solution is that the disc will be distributed, primarily, to foreign language speakers inside the US. I do think the client would like to find more foreign distribution, but that is secondary to US distribution.
A note is that even in the case of the disc playing in a DVD-player set to a foreign SPRM, I believe the player will read the language of the disc. It simply looks for the primary language of the player first. True?
I offer all this that someone might say: The easy way to use foreign languages on a DVD is THIS WAY. Otherwise why add multiple languages? With decent, CLEAR methods maybe then Apple could write that in the manual and save me and others a heck of a lot of time hacking around doing the same thing people before us did already.

  • R/3 4.6C - SAPConsole - Multiple Language implementaion

We are at SAP R/3 release 4.6C and planning to implement SAPConsole for raw material GR and GI in IM. Challenge is RF devices are in  in chinese and korean language. I have designed the business process and screens in english.
Please advise how to implement console to handle  business transactions to and from the RF device while sitting on MDMP system(4.6c).
What are big challenge I may have during implementation?
How to configure console to handle english, chinese and korean language?
What are the limitations with 4.6c and sapconsole to handle multiple language?
Is there any SAP note related to such scenario?
Any system admin related parameter whcih need special attention before implementation?
Note: We have no plan to upgrade to ECC6.0.
I will appreciate any input/help regarding such implementation.

    Hi Lee,
I have connected multiple BWsystems to the same source R/3 system and as long as there are no compatibility issues, it is possible. Potential issue could be that your BW 3.5 system requires a certain plug-in version/patch level that is not supported by your other BW system as they are on different releases, so you will have to confirm that there is no issue with that respect. Also, this can present a future problem when you are applying patches to your systems.
Another area of concern is Delta extraction of the same data source. If the same datasource is to send data to both systems, it will be a problem as the timestamps are stored in tables that are not specific to the target system. For example, some FI and CO datasources use table BWOM2_TIMEST. Every time a delta is extracted, the delta is determined based on entries in this table. However, this table is only specific to a client and datasource, not target system. Therefore, you will need to evaluate what data you will be sending to what system and using wht datasources and whether there would be any conflicts there.
A possible solution to some of the above mentioned problems would be to have the data sent to one of your BW systems and then re-sent to the other system from there or used via RemoteCubes, for example.
    I hope that this helps!

  • About File Encoding for multiple Languages

Hi My Scenario is Paroxy to File.
I am getting multiple languages from the proxy and need to write all the languages in one scv file.
I used UTF-8  File Encoding in the receiver file channel so that all languages comes except Hebrew.
I want to write Hebrew language also in the same file.
If i use ISO-8859-8 Hebrew language writes and other languages are showing as some special characters.
How to sole this problem? I want to write the file with all the languages.
    Thanks

    > I used UTF-8  File Encoding in the receiver file channel so that all languages comes except Hebrew.
    > I want to write Hebrew language also in the same file.
Are you sure that it is not like the hebrew characters are part of the file but you cannot view it?

  • ERM Role Export with multiple languages

    Hi All,
I have an issues where role download program /VIRSA/RE_DNLDROLES exports the roles with all text languages included (if the role was maintained in multiple languages).
Then when I mass import the roles into ERM (AC 5.3 SP10), the upload program gives an "unknown error." After several hours of testing I figured out that that eliminating all but one of the multiple role language texts in main role file will allow the roles to be uploaded sucessfully.
It seems that the function module /VIRSA/RE_BAPI_DOWNLOAD_ROLES should be changed to include a language parameter.
    Anybody ever have this problem?
    Thanks, Dylan

    Hi All,
I found a workaround for this issue, I'm posting it for posterity then will close this post within a couple of days. I would appreciate to know if anyone has run into this issue too, it can't just be me?!
First, the download of the main role text file from /VIRSA/RE_DNLDROLES stores the file as ANSI text type. At least that is how my Windows PC opens it. IF the role was maintained in mulitple languages with special language characters like ü, ô, ê, é, è, à, ò, ä, ö, then GRC AC 5.3 SP10 ERM gives me an "unknown error" when trying to do the mass import. To fix this issue, simply save the file as text type "UTF-8" or anything but ANSI. The ANSI seems to work fine for plain english.
Second, roles with multiple language versions get all the languages squished together in the long description. I had one role with a Japanese, English, German, French and Italian long description BUT each maintained in it's own language. During the upload, all were imported into ERM and grouped together in one ugly text.
I fixed this (although not ideally) by modifying Function Module /VIRSA/RE_BAPI_DOWNLOAD_ROLES used during the download:
The code change is as follows:
        SELECT * FROM AGR_TEXTS APPENDING TABLE i_agR_TEXTS WHERE AGR_NAME
                                                            "#EC CI_GENBUFF
    *{   REPLACE        SIDKxxx
          in r_agr_name.
           in r_agr_name
and spras eq 'E'.   "download only English
    *}   REPLACE
Then, the 1000+ roles uploaded successfully without issues.
I realized after that OSS Note 1260773 covers explains this similarly.

  • SAP E COMMERCE FOR ERP : Maintaining catalog variants in multiple languages

    Hi All,
I have created a product catalog with 2 variants, one for english and other for russian, have maintained the texts in corresponding langiages in the layout area.
I created a webshop and used the catalog variant for russian, but still when the end user( his correspondence lang is maintained as russian) logs in to b2b he sees the product descriptions only in english.
In the shopadmin , webshop properties -> General Information tab, there is a field called "Language". When i maintain this as "RU" the shop itself is not displayed to the end user.
Please let me know what is the procedure to display the products in multiple languages!!! I must be missing something.
    Thanks for help!
    Lisha

I've to ask you in an other way...
What you see when you call this link:
    http://<server>:<port>/contextroot/b2b/init.do?language=ru
And what you see when you call:
    http://<server>:<port>/contextroot/b2b/init.do?language=en
You say en is working, but what you see by the RU-link?? Any error or something?
I think your problem is this:
--> Now when I login to my B2B, then I am unable to see this russian shop, but the other shop that I maintained for "Language" as EN, I can see that shop.
You want to login and then want to see the 2 variants? But you've to call the apps only with http://<server>:<port>/contextroot/b2b/init.do?language=en  or http://<server>:<port>/contextroot/b2b/init.do?language=ru
then it should work with 2 languages?
If it's not working, there is an error message?
The language RU is installed on your SAP?
I'm configurating this for you on my testsystem now. Please contact me at fan @ sfsservices.biz to receive the logindatas.

  • Multiple Language Menus Without Multiple Menus

    Hey everybody!
Happy New Years everyone. Hopefully, soeone out there can help me with this little problem. I am creating a DVD for a school, and it is designed to promote the school overseas. So this means that each menu has to be displayed in multiple languages (seven, to be precise). Now, I've done the english ones, and the total size comes to 1.1GB. Is there any way that I can make these menus display the text in other languages without creating each menu again another six times?
The way I've got it set up is that the first menu allows you to pick which lanuage you want to use. So altogether there are 8 menus, and that is just for the english reading world. Can I then make it so that I only need these 8 menus and so if you select Chinese in the first menu, it will take you to the english menu, except display the text in Chinese? I know this is confusing, and I'm orry.
Basically, can I make the DVD siplay different languages using only 8 menus, or do I have to make 56 menus (8 for each language).
    Cheers!
    Nich

I was afraid of that. Well, thanks for your help.
Ma, put on a pot of coffee! IT'S GONNA BE A LONG NIGHT!!!

  • Multiple language correspondence with customer

Ability to generate letters in multiple languages to inhance the communication between customer and the business. guide me how can we print letters in different languages.

    Hi Michael,
I should have told you that we are implementing SAP ESS/MSS business packages, so I guess there is no need to hardcode language content. I think I kind of understood your solution, but I am still trying to comprehend it fully. Please let me know if this could work.
Let's say the WebLogic portal launches  the German quicklink - (/irj/portal/german). So this would try to open the portal in the default language which could be English. Let us say we have a hidden iView on the home page of SAP portal that sets the user's language to German. Would this display the SAP Portal in German language immediately as they are single-signed on from WebLogic. Or would it display in German only when the user clicks some other navigational menu after being logged on to SAP portal. If the problem is that the portal displays in the required language only for the subsequent clicks (i.e. after they log on), then maybe we can create a portal desktop to display home page in the correct language based on the portal URL alias using quicklink. Please let me know if this makes sense.

  • UCCX CAD Multiple Language Support

When installing UCCX 8.5 I am prompted with the option to choose the CAD/CSD Language Configuration.  This install is for a customer with offices in Quebec (French) and the rest of Canada (English).  It would appear that I can choose only one language and not both even though I can install multiple languages for the IVR prompts.
Am I to understand that even with the latest version of UCCX there is still no way to have the French users use a French version of the CAD application and the English users use an English version of the CAD application?
    Or am I missing something?

    Hi Steve,
I did find a workaround that is working for my customer.
As you may know after the UCCX install you are directed to run the "CAD Client Configuration.msi" file which can be downloaded from the UCCX server.  The program downloads the new installer files for CAD, CSD and Cisco Desktop Administrator and configures the IP address of the primary UCCX server based on your input. The program then appears to connect to the primary server to retrieve the backup server IP as well as the language of the server. The application then uploads the installer files preconfigured for the system with the IP’s and language. These installer files can be downloaded from the server via a URL for installation on client computers. These installer files are also pushed down to clients after an upgrade to the system if the version used by the client is an older version.
This is where the problem lies.  However there is another way to generate the client install files.
There is also a program that comes with the UCCX installation media called “ConfigureMsi.exe” that allows a user to pre-configure the installer files. This application does not use the server to retrieve language or IP addresses. This information is manually configured by the user when running the application.
So what I did was (because my install base was primarily English) use the CAD Client Configuration tool to configure the clients as English.  Then I ran the ConfigureMsi.exe that is on the UCCX media (DVD) and generated another set of French language install files.
When the client (CAD, CSD, DA) connect ot the server they compare their versions (but not their languages).  So if you manually install the French computers with the French installation media you created  they will connect to UCCX and work.  If however a patch needs to be applied to the UCCX server then you need to ensure that you get the installation media and generate the updated French versions of the clients and manually push them out prior to the upgrade.  The reason for this is that if you apply a patch on the UCCX server and the French client (older version) connects to UCCX the UCCX server will push down the English version of the client.
I documented a process for them to follow when applying patches so that they upgraded their French clients first and then applied the patch to UCCX.  Of course the English clients detect they are on an older version and get pushed the new English client automatically as they would  with an English only install.
The only caveat to all of this was that the historical reporting client is not included in the “ConfigureMsi.exe” tool on the UCCX media.  It appears to be only available through the UCCX server and thus it was only available in English.
I'm sure you could probably install another copy of UCCX as French only and pull down the historical reporting application for the French users however this would be alot of work for just a single application and this process would have to be followed after every upgrade to the system.  With virtualized deployments these days it might be a bit easier.
This workaround is only for the client applications (excluding historical reporting).  I believe the CRAAdmin web site was still in english.  I deployed this solution over a year ago and cannot recall if the language setting of the browser/computer determiined the language you received in CRAAdmin.  It might but I unfortunately cannot confirm this.
In all the testing I performed it appeared as though the language for the client was all programmed into the client itself.  It seems odd that Cisco cannot allow you specify multiple languages to upload to the UCCX server and then do a language check as well as a version check when the client connects and dish out the appropriate version.
