Multiple .Mac accounts

HI, Does anyone know how to use iWeb from one computer with multiple .Mac accounts? I want to publish using two different account names, but I don't know if I am able.
Thanks for any help

Will is correct. The account published to is determined by the details provided in the .Mac item in System Preferences. You could always temporarily change the account details there, but you always run the risk of forgetting to switch back again. Will's suggestion of using a separate user whose .Mac preferences are set to the other account is definitely the way to go. With Fast User Switching it's an absolute snip to use.
You'll need to maintain separate Domain files anyway if you want the sites to be independent. Using separate users does this for you automatically.

  • Multiple .Mac accounts, on one Admin account on one computer

    Hello all,
I am trying to have multiple .Mac accounts to publish independent iWeb websites on unique domains (the apple iweb provided ones) but it appears I can only have one .Mac account on my computer's network user to do the easy one click Publish button to.
I don't want to use multiple user accounts on my computer as I'd like to have access to all my photos, music, videos and everything else and easily do so without logging out from my main account.
    What am I missing?
    Many thanks,
    Michael

The only safe and easy method is multiple user accounts.
You can easily store your iPhoto and music Libraries on an external drive and share them between accounts.

  • Can I sync multiple .mac accounts with my address book???

i have an idisk membership with 5 email accounts. i finally got around to syncing my address book to my .mac account. in doing this i found that i had to sync from my 'master' account. it worked fine, but when i sign on to one of my other .mac accounts my contacts are not there in the address book.
can i only sync to the master account??? if so, this really ***** because i have multiple email addresses for various tasks (business / personal / junk). i'm really gonna be bummed.
    any help greatly appreciated!!!

  • Setting up multiple email accounts on multiple .mac accounts

There are three of us in the household, all with our own .mac accounts (created off of one master account) and our own usernames on this computer. I have set up multiple email accounts and am having trouble getting those accounts organized into Mail. Can I set it up such that each user can access his/her email when logged into his/her respective area on this mac? For example, I want to be able to log in as myself and read my email, then let my wife log into her area and read her email. I have tried and really messed it up. We can read mail but not send it. When i try to send a message pops up informing me that "cannot send message using the server (server name here). Try again later."

Can I set it up such that each user can access his/her email when
logged into his/her respective area on this mac? For example, I want
to be able to log in as myself and read my email, then let my wife log
into her area and read her email.
Yes and this is how it should be done with each user's email account only created in Mail under their computer login account so each user's email along with all other data is kept separate and protected in their own home folder/directory. Of course this only works when disabling automatic login.
Who is your ISP used for connecting to the internet and is each user/family member also accessing an email account that is provided by your ISP?
Something to try first and this must be done with the .Mac SMTP server in Mail for each user's login account.
Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts and under the Account Information tab for the .Mac account preferences at the SMTP server selection, select the Server Settings button below.
Enter 587 in place of 25 in the Server Port field and when finished, select OK to save the changed setting.

  • IWeb with multiple .Mac account

    Hi,
I have 2 .Mac account (one for personal, and another one for business use). I have one MacBookPro
I want to use iWeb developing 2 sites for my 2 .Mac account.
What I usually do is to log in to my personal .Mac account, then make both sites (personal and business) the pages with iWeb.
But the problem is that both sites I did in iWeb will get published to my personal account. Then it is wasting space on my idisk.
Then I would have to publish everything to a folder and then copy only the pages of my business site into my business .Mac account.
I wish there is an easier way.
What would be the best way of doing this? (with no pain!)
    Thank you & Best regards.

    hi viravadee
you can publish to 2 .mac accounts very easily.
before you want to publish, close iweb,
    go under system preferences,
then under .Mac settings change the username and the
    password. re-open iWeb and publish
    - BUT when, say you want to publish your
office-site, make sure it is the top-page (just drag
and drop the web-site to the top(in the sidebar
under iWeb) because this tells the index to get
linked to the first web-site. For your home adress,
you do it the opposite way, your personal page goes
first, and don't forget to change the username in
    the system preferences again.
i guess that is the easiest way to publish to 2
    accounts.
and it will allways publish everything, you will have
to delete the other site from the iDisk
Woah. I don't know if I would recommend this method. Why publish everything every time if you don't need to?
    viravadee, try this:
    1. Make two user accounts on your machine and set up each account for a different .mac account
    2. Separate your domain file into two separate domain files, each with one site
    Some directions are here:
    http://web.mac.com/mark8heaton/iWeb/DomainSeparation
    3. Put one domain file in each user account on your machine

  • Multiple Mac accounts edit one numbers file

Can two accounts(login) on the same Macbook access and edit the same Numbers file? If so, how? thanks

    Hello
After several attemps, I think that the best soluce is to work with several HD or several partitions on the internl HD.
Store the documents on a volume which is not the startup one and every user will be able to work with them.
If you own a single HD and if the machine is intet inside, you may create a partition on the fly.
If the machine is not intel inside and have a single disk, partitionning will require a preliminary backup.
    Then you will have to
    start from the install disk,
create the partitions with Disk Utility,
install the system on one partition
    restore anything on this partition
When the complementary partition is available, move the documents to share on the alternate partition.
It's a bit boring the first time but after that, it is really comfortable.
I have three physical drives so I didn't took care of this kind of problem: I never store documents on the startup volume

  • Mail not sending using .mac accounts

For years, I've had multiple .mac accounts. I've only had one listed as my official .mac account while the others I sent up in Mail as IMAP accounts. This has worked wonderfully this entire time.
BUT NOW, none of my .mac accounts are sending! I've tried changing the port to 587. I've tried deleting the accounts and recreating them. I've tried all that I can think of. Everytime I try to send I get a popup window asking for my password. I type in my password and it is rejected. I know that it is the correct password because I can login to apple's .mac site and send just fine with the same password. I also know that it is not my ISP. I've connected to the Internet from multiple locations (home, work, friends houses, etc.) and still have the same problem (when I could send from all of these places a week ago). What gives? Can anyone help?
    Thanks!

Are you also accessing an email account and SMTP server provided by your ISP with the Mail.app?
If so, are you able to send messages with this account?
If yes, select/use your ISP's SMTP server to send messages with your .Mac accounts which is invisible to all recipients.
Then call your ISP to ask if any recent changes were made blocking the use of SMTP servers that are outside of their network even if authenticated such as the .Mac SMTP server.

  • Publishing to Mulitple .mac accounts

Hi. I have multiple .Mac accounts and am currently working on two websites in iWeb. The problem I'm having is getting the 2nd website to post to another .Mac account via iWebs "publish" functionality. They both post under the same .Mac account user URL site. Is there away to do this so each site posts to the proper .Mac accounts website?
    Thanks,
    -J

    James,
I think your understanding of the matter is correct. But I would suggest that the cleanest and most elegant option is probably the second method which involves creating a second system user account for the second .Mac account. Then the only thing you would need to do is to log into the right account in OS X to publish to each .Mac account.
Changing the .Mac preferences back and forth is cumbersome and still doesn't do away with the problem of having both sites under the same Domain file. With separate system accounts, each .Mac account will have its own Domain file which you will not have to keep track of. Changing .Mac preferences back and forth also affects other things that you might use, like iChat or syncing to your iDisk. Very messy.
Anyways, good luck with this. Do me a favor and mark this reply with the little buttons above as either "helpful" or "solved." Thanks.

  • Multiple iCloud account on a Mac?!

    Hi and tnxs for reading.
I notice there is a post with the same subject but the core is different.
I just got an iOS device for mu job with a personal (company related) apple id and iCloud mail account.
I got my new personal apple.id and pwd.
I would like to access this email account via my Mac as-well. For this reason I added this iCloud on my Mac by using Add Account on Mail.
After having inserted my new applied and pwd I got it verified, however the Mail box for this account is not ticked. If I tick it I am prompted to write an iCloud account name @iCloud.com , with the warning that when created it cannot be modified. At this point I stopped the process.
Is there a way to have multiple  iCloud account on my Mail??
    Many tnxs.

The secondary account data I am entering is correct: it is verified during the process and accepted.
Contact, Calendar and Reminders are ticked activated.
Mail is not activated. By manually ticking Mail box I get the msg "Choose an iCloud mail name".
    I am attaching both screenshots.
    Tnxs.

  • Same Account on Multiple Macs?

I am setting up a new Mac Mini to be used primarily as the "accounting computer". But it will also serve as a backup computer for the 3 users on my main Mac Pro when multiple users want on at the same time. So how do I handle the set-up of the new Mini? Should I create 3 identical users, with their same login names & passwords, on the 2nd Mac? i.e. So when I need to get on to check email, but my main puter is in use by another user, I can jump on the Mini & have updated access to my email??? Secondly, how do I keep Mail, Calendar, etc in sync on both machines?

    jdehnert wrote:
My best suggestion would be to set your people up on one of the computers and have then share their home directories with password protection. You may want to do this on whichever system has more hard drive space. Then set them up again on the alternate system and make sure that they can connect to the main system to access their home directories. If you can train and/or convince your users to keep all of their files on the home directory space that resides on the main system, it could work.
This is more along the lines of what I had in mind. The use on the alt computer will only be to do a quick email check... I am in the process of setting all email accounts up as IMAPs... or internet surfing, etc. Any tasks that involve files from the main box will have to be accessed through sharing, then saved back to their account on that main puter... and this will be on occasion at most. And now that I've said all this, I can think of several instances where I've needed to interrupt someone because I needed to check my calendar... have yet to use iSync - does something like this allow me to sync my iCal to another computer?
So how should I handle the users on the 2nd Mac? Should I set up all the accounts there too... even if it might be for occasional use? And if I'm setting up individual accts, can I set up accts with the same login names & PW's on multiple Macs that are networked, without issue?
It just dawned on me that if someone is surfing the internet on the alt box, they might need their favs over there... although I'm the only user w/an extensive favs list. Truth be told, my network is a home business network. So far, the only other users on the main Mac are my kids... the network serves for home biz/personal tasks. One of my kids is a college student who uses the computer for all basic tasks plus web design & Photoshopping. Point is, I'm just looking for the best, simple solution.

  • New Mac User: iTunes Auth with multiple user accounts

With a Mac with multiple user accounts, does EACH user account need to have iTunes authorized, or is iTunes authorized for an entire mac machine?

So then I assume that iTunes will know then if each of the computer's user accounts has a different iTunes account?
When you authorize an iTunes account on your computer, the authorization info is stored in \Users\Shared\. When you run iTunes, it looks there to see if it can play purchases. The purchase account info is embedded into each purchased file.

  • Back to My Mac and multiple iCloud accounts

I have an iMac at home and a Macbook I travel with.  Previously I had just one mobileme account, and BTMM has worked like a champ.  I now have multiple iCloud accounts in my household, as my wife mostly uses the iMac and I have the macbook.  I very much enjoy the seemless sharing of iCal calendars and the syncing of email accounts over multiple macs and mobile devices.  Trouble is to make BTMM work you have to enter preferences-->iCloud and log both computers into the same iCould account.  Surely apple must have forseen this sort of problem.  I as an indivdual if you have TWO computers and no one else uses them, it's no big deal to have everything on one iCloud account.  But with multiple users, with multiple email accounts, that's just not realistic.  I thought I may have found the work around when going to System Prefs-->Users & Groups-->and adding multilple Apple User IDs, but that doesn't work.
Any one else frustrated with this?  Similar issues with Photo Stream, it would be nice to view other photo streams.  Anybody got any ideas?  Other than logging out of my iCloud account when away....getting all the warnings about deleting stuff off my mac with regard to iCloud..... and logging into my wifes iCloud account?
    thanks
    x

I share this frustration. Over last weekend I needed to leave my computer at home while we went across the country to visit family. I found out there I needed to access my computer and finish an item before I was to return. We brought my wife's MBAir with us just in case, and good thing too. Either way, I was required to sign out of iCloud for her, then sign in as myself. This deleted all her iCloud contacts, calendar, mail, etc. Then it had to reload mine, then when finished i had to do that process all over again for her account. It would seem a quite simple task to allow multiple iCloud accounts to view a set of computers set to any of the iCloud Apple ID's. There is a function similar to this on my TimeCapsule. I can put both of our AppleID accounts onto that device and both of us can see our TimeCapsule and all attached storage while away from home (brilliant by the way), great for accessing movies I have stored on the TimeCapsule. Any results on how to make this work? Thanks

  • How do i set up multiple iCloud accounts on the same mac?

how do i set up multiple iCloud accounts on the same mac?

Interesting - I was sure I'd seen a note somewhere that it was only Mail, but this article:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4020
    does say
Your secondary iCloud accounts can be set up and viewed in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars on your iOS device, or Apple () menu > System Preferences > Mail, Contacts, Calendars on OS X Lion. You may choose to do this if you have a second iCloud account and need to access its Mail, Contacts, or Calendar data.
Note: While you can configure multiple iCloud Mail accounts in iOS, Push mail will only work for the primary iCloud account in iOS. Secondary account(s) will check for mail based on the settings in Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Fetch New Data.
It's not something I can test - I suppose the second account's data gets added to the lists in iCal and Address Book?

  • Multiple Macs with multiple user accounts

I have a Mac computer connected to airport and use Time Machine for backups. This works well.
I have now purchased a second Mac and would like to include this second Mac so that I can move between Macs and work. There does not appear to be any mechanism to allow this.

After searching the web and the discussion here, here's my minimal impact solution for multiple Macs with multiple users in a household:
    1) Set up Mac1 for myself only
    2) Set up Mac2 for the wife and kid
    3) Set up each Mac to backup to the Airport base station using Time Machine (this would create two separate backups on the Airport base station's drive, which from what I've read has its own problems)
    4) On Mac1 setup "empty user accounts" for the wife and kid. These will not have any files in them - just an access mechanism. If they want to access their files, they can use Time Machine's "The Browse Other Backup Disks Option" to get their file from Mac2, work on it and then drop it in the Shared Folder. Next time they are on Mac2, remember to copy the updated/created file from the Shared Folder into their Mac2 user account. If possible, get Time Machine to not backup the "empty user accounts".
    5) Do the same for me on Mac2.
Not the most elegant solution, but until Apple get off their backside and make this seamless, I can't think of anything else :-( .
P.S. iCloud is not a soluton since it costs hundreds of dollars a year, uses up intenet data allowance and is slow.
