"Multiple movies in Same Frame" ...Help topic

Trying to add "picture-in-picture" movies to a background frame. Have resized each inserted movie to the size I need (-scaled image with preserve aspect ratio checkbox-) but have not figured out how to place the movies where I need them (each of four corners). Offset seems erratic at best.
Can anyone tell me how or point me to where I can find out.
TIA

You're on the right path but a little confused.
You adjust a video track location by using the offset. Default location is 0,0 (upper left corner). You may need your calculator to do the math.
Another concept that escapes new users of QT Pro is negative values. You can use a negative value (say -320, 0) to position a track 320 pixels from the original upper left corner. This will put two 320X240 movies in a side by side 640X240 player window.
Don't forget to adjust the track layers. If they are all going to play at the same time they should all have the same layer number.

  • Play multiple movies in same window area

    Hello,
    I'm sure this question has come up before, but couldn't find it.
    On my html page I want to have a number of links to my Captivate movies down column on left, and then one movie container on the right, so each time a movie link is clicked, the movie will play within the same container on the right.
    I'm using RoboHelp 8 to import and publish my movies. Can import a movie onto my page, but do not see the ability to put a placeholder container on my page so each movie could play within same container.
    Thanks!

  • Preloading multiple movies for same panel

    Hello,
    I'm new to JMF and have to achieve the following.
    I have make an application that can play a collection of movies (50+) and play them in the same panel in arbitrary sequence. The movies need to play after each other as seamless as possible so they need to be preloaded as much as possible. The application can load as long as it wants but once it's playing movies need to start almost instantly.
    So far ive tried working with one panel and making 50 MediaPlayer objects attached to the one panel and removing content of panel after each one is added.
    In my attempts i tried:
    prefetching each after loading;
    realizing them after loading
    realizing them before i start playing
    but i because i still havent figured out the right way to do this ive had very messy results. ( Not realized exceptions, sound playing but no visuals, several movies are playing at the same time, .. movies wont start after they have been stopped etc....)
    Can someone who is more familiar with JMF please put me back on track? I fear that my approach isnt the good one but i have no idea how to attempt this.
    Thanks in advance,
    Hendrik

    Thing is, it is decided only at runtime which movie will
    play after the current one That is what I was assuming, yes.
    One form of such a thing might be the user
    points to a directory, and the app. plays the
    animations it finds, in random order.
    For this, the app. could keep a list of files or
    URL's of potential files to play next, selecting
    the 'very next' at the exact moment the next file
    is required or called for.
    ...so I would have to preload them all. I do not see why. In my way of imagining
    the scenario, the app. might be loading the
    'next' clip as it is playing the current one.
    All it would need to store 'all of' is the File
    (or URL, or String that represent file or
    URL) objects that are animations.
    If it turns out the clips are so short in duration
    that it takes longer to load them than play them,
    it might pay to have a number of threads loading
    the next clips (plural). So fire up a number of
    'load next vid.' threads, and it should all work
    just fine.
    ...Wouldnt it be possible to preload 50 clips
    using MediaPlayer.prefetch() when loading? Yes. No. Maybe. Depends..
    How long is a piece of string?
    (To put that another way)
    I have animations of 80-120 Meg. in size
    that run for around 20-40 seconds each
    (800x600 at 15-20FPS from high res.
    JPEG's - no audio). Running in a standard
    memory JRE, I can expect to see around
    25-30 of them in sequence before the
    multi-file player I mentioned earlier, hits
    OutOfMemoryErrors. So, ..
    No.
    Playing 'plain old' MOV's produced by a
    Kodak camera recording a 320x240 format
    at 15 FPS with 22KHz sound, I can play over
    an hour of video before OOME's.
    Yes.
    Of course, increase the memory assigned to
    the app., and you can expect to delay the OOME
    (unless reusing players, or finding a way to
    effectively dispose of them - in which case you
    can increase the number that can be
    preloaded).
    Maybe..

  • Can Touch Events and Swipe Events exist in the same frame and/or movie?

    After having fully tested a file with touch events I decided to add both a touch event and swipe event to a frame.
    I started by importing the following statements:
    Multitouch.inputMode = MultitouchInputMode.TOUCH_POINT;
    Multitouch.inputMode = MultitouchInputMode.GESTURE;
    I then added th appropriate code but only touch events worked. I fiddled so more and only the gesture events worked. So before I move any further, I'm wondering if I'm wasting my time trying to get them to work together.
    So my questions are:
    Can Touch Events and Swipe Events exist together in the same frame?
    Can Touch Events and Swipe Events exist scene?
    A reference to more information about this would be helpful, if you know of any.

    I am aware of the latest releases of the components along with the plug-ins.
    This note is applicable to your scenario but you might face some issues related to organization rule wizard, custom user group creation and EAM DB log collection, as mentioned at the bottom of the note. No matter on what SP level you are with GRCFND_A at 10.1, you would face these issues.
    And so far, i don't think there is any more update from SAP on co-existence of plugins of 5.3 and 10.1

  • How can I edit multiple clips with different frame rates on the same timeline

    how can I edit multiple clips with different frame rates on the same timeline

    You do not want to edit material from different frame rates on one timeline. You CAN do this, but it is a very bad idea - and this is why.
    Once you establish the sequence frame rate - lets say it is PAL material at 25fps, any material that you drop into the sequence other than 25 fps will have to be changed to play at 25 fps. If the material you add is NTSC (29.97), FCP will DROP 5 frames per sec to bring the frame rate down to 25 fps. Which 5 get thrown away? Every 6th one. This yields a funky cadence that becomes even more complex as as there are also interlaced fields (DV/NTSC is an interlaced format). Oh, and by the way, the image sizes are different as well. DV/PAL has 576 lines of resolution and DV/NTSC has 480. FCP has to scale up the NTSC to fit the PAL frame.
    You do not want FCP adjusting these things on the fly. You want to do a thoughtful (and time consuming) conversion so that you end up with all your material in one format with the best possible image from the conversion process. Compressor can do an adequate job with Frame Controls turned on. The Natress Standards Conversion FCP plugin is another way to go. A third option is to find a post house that can do the conversion for you using a hardware based process.
    The good news is, once everything is in the same format, editing it will be painless and the output process very quick.
    Whatever frame rate/ image size you select, I'd suggest using ProRes for the codec. It is 4:2:2 color and will withstand color correction and composting with much more grace than any variant of DV based codecs.
    Have fun.

  • Cant' move images from frame to frame inside a Grid in InDesign. Please Help

    When creating a grid in indesign there is an option to move images from frame to frame, and having them rotate around the frames to see where each image is best to be placed. Example I created a grid with 6 images (2 rows and 3 columns) and now i want image 1 to be where image 6 is. I know there's a way by hitting the arrows and some other keys and have all the images start rotating. I did it once I just can't remember. Please help. How do you move the an image from one frame to another frame without having to go to edit place?

Right now every time I click on a button to play a new video, a new player is created. This is a big problem because each new player uses up resources and soon the program crashes.

You need to realize that the Player object you think you have is actually a parent class for a bunch of different types of players. So, the Player that you have for the first movie probably can't play the second movie, etc. Because it's the wrong sub-type of Player.
    When you're done with a player object, close() it and get rid of all references to it. That'll allow it to be garbage collected. Then create a new one to play your next movie.
    And yeah, there may be memory leaks in the JMF code. There's nothing you can do about it, it won't ever be fixed because JMF is no longer supported. If this is going to be an issue for you, you're probably going to need to look elsewhere (JavaFX) for a movie player...

  • Adobe Media Encoder for Premiere Pro CS4 stops working on the same frame every time...

    I currently have Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 and have never had these issues exporting before. My timeline is less than 3 minutes long, but it does deal with multiple big files. It rendered perfectly and it plays perfectly in the timeline. When I try to export it using Media Encoder, however, it freezes at the same frame every time (which is actually only a few seconds in!) and then crashes, so that I have to force quit. I have tried exporting it as many different codecs and the problem persists... same frame. I tried creating a new project entirely and whipping together a few titles and exporting that to see if it just won't export anything at all. The new project exported just fine, however, which I suppose is good news. But yeah, my work on that other project is very important to me and I reallllly want to export it. Please help!

    Hi Jim! Thank you for your reply. I think you are right -- and that it lies in the audio somehow!
    It turns out that if I choose to only export the video, and uncheck audio, it will export very well and smoothly. That's great news for me!
    However, now I am trying to work out how to get the audio exported without issues. I actually had the idea of just playing the audio in the timeline and recording it via Stereo Mix, but my Windows 7 driver has Stereo Mix disabled, so it's back to square one. Any ideas of what I can do about the corrupted audio not exporting, which works fine when played in the timeline?

  • Problem with running multiple servlet in same webapplication with tomcat 3

    Hi all,
    I am using Tomcat 3.0 as webserver with jdk1.3, Servlet 2.0,
    Templates for html file and oracle 8i on UNIX platform.
    I have problem with multiple servlet running same webapplication.
    There are two servlet used in my application. 1) GenServlet.class
                   and 2) ServletForPrinting.class
    All of my pages go through GenServlet.class which reads some property files
    and add header and footer in all pages.
    I want reports without header & footer that is not possible through GenServlet in my application.
    So I have used another servlet called ServletForPrinting --- just for reading html file.
    It is as follow:
    import java.io.*;
    import javax.servlet.*;
    import javax.servlet.http.*;
    public class ServletForPrinting extends HttpServlet {
    public void service (HttpServletRequest request,
    HttpServletResponse response) throws ServletException, IOException
    // set content-type header before accessing the Writer
    response.setContentType("text/html");
    PrintWriter out = response.getWriter();
    File f1 = null;
    String report = null;
    String path = request.getPathInfo();
    try{
    String p = "/var/home/latif/proj/webapps/WEB-INF/classes" + path;
    System.out.println(p);
    f1 = new File(p);
    p = null;
    if (f1.exists()) {
    FileReader fr = new FileReader(f1);
    BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(fr);
    report = new String();
    while ((report = br.readLine()) != null) {
    out.println(report);
    }catch(Exception e) {
    out.close();
    report = null;
    path = null;
    f1 = null;
    } // end class
    It works fine and display report properly.
    But now Problem is that if report is refreshed many times subsequently,
    WebServer will not take any new change in any of java file used in web-application.
    It works with the previous class only and not with updated one.
    Then I need to touch it. As soon as I touch it, webserver will take updated class file.
    Anybody has any idea regarding these situation?
    Is there any bug in my ServletForPrinting.java ?
    Any solution ????? Please suggest me.
    Suggestion from all are invited. That will help me a lot.
    Thanks in advance
    Deepalee.

    I would strongly suggest at least reading this tutorial to give you an idea of why your fix worked (or maybe only appeared to work).  Myself, I never just throw up my hands and say, "Whatever," and wash my hands of the situation without trying my best to understand just what fixed it.  Guranteed you'll run into the same/similar problem and this time your fix won't work.
    Please do yourself a favor and try to understand why it is working now, and save yourself (or more likely, the next poor dev to work on this project) some heartache.

  • Problems when printing help topics from OHJ

    We have encountered some persistent problems when printing help topics from Oracle Help for Java (Ice Browser).
    NOTE: When we print the same source files from Oracle Help for the Web, the printing problems are gone.
    (1) Spacing Errors (all printers had identical results)
    Text with special formatting (<b>, <i>) often has either too much space or not enough space.
    Links often have extra spaces underlined before or after the link, itself.
    (2) When printing multiple help topics from the TOC (an entire branch in the tree):
    On some printers, no graphics print correctly, but instead print as one of the following: 1. empty box the size of one character, 2. black box the size of one character, 3. black box the size of the original graphic. We could not detect a pattern that caused 1, 2, or 3.
    NOTE: all graphics are bit maps (screen captures) that were generated in the same manner.
    NOTE: if these same help topics are printed one at a time form Oracle Help for Java, the graphics print fine.
    Is this a problem with the Ice Browser?
    Thanks for the help,
    Wendy Studinski

    There are a known issue with the ICEBrowser printing in some circumstances. The laying out of text by the ICE Browser relies on font metrics (being able to measure the width of a run of text in a given font). On screen it looks great, but when printing, even though the GraphicsConfiguration for the printer is being used, these widths are sometimes off, which can result in text running together at boundaries between text styles. We're not sure what to do about this problem, and we've reported it to IceSoft.
    Not every font has this problem, so varying the font you are using might help the appearance when printed.
    The other problem you report, problems with the images when printing multiple topics, is something that we will look into.

  • Difficulties with movie clips and frames

    This is really irking me.
    I am extremely new to Flash so please bear with me. I am assuming that this is a simple, easy to fix problem that I am having. I have Adobe Flash Professional CS5.5.
    What I am trying to do is display a sequence of images after other movie clips stop playing.
    The image sequence itself does what it is supposed to and works properly, and the other movie clips also are successful. However, whenever I try to put the movie clips for the images in frames or keyframes, the beginning movie clips only play part of the way before the images show up. This happens even though the images' movie clips are on frames/keyframes (I've tried both) after the other movie clips.
    The movie clips that are supposed to play first are each on a separate layer and there are two of them.
    The first layer is called "tree" and the second is called "text"
    The tree layer has a 45-frame gif animation that I have turned into a movie clip. I have created a motion tween and changed its alpha so that the gif has a fading in and out effect. I also have it so that it stops replaying once it reaches the last frame. I am using stop(); for this.
    The text layer has a 40-frame gif animation that I have also turned into a gif. This gif is also a movie clip and also has motion tween. Its alpha has also been changed.
    Both tree and text play together successfully and how I want them to.
    The sequence of images is three separate images, each a different layer, that fade into eachother. These images are pngs, therefore they aren't gifs nor do they have their own frames.
    The bottom layer is called floor1 and has frames 1 through 50 of motion tween and alpha adjustments fading the png image. The image is a movie clip.
    The layer on top is called floor2 and has frames 51-100 of a different png image fading.
    The very top layer is called floor3 and has frames 101-150 of yet another png fading.
    The images are successful in doing what they are supposed to.
    Layers tree and text are one fla file, and layers floor1, floor2, and floor3 are a separate fla file.
    When I copy the frames from layers floor1, floor2, and floor3 into a keyframe after layers text and tree, they transfer properly, but when I test the animation, the image sequence shows up a lot sooner than it is supposed to, interrupting the movie clips on the layers text and tree. I have tried moving the floor# layers' keyframes farther down the timeline, but then the other movie clips just stop.
    In the fla file with layers text and tree, I've imported the gifs into the library and then put them onto the stage.
    In the fla file with the floor# layers, I've imported the pngs into the stage.
    Here's what the text and tree layers look like:
    Here's what the floor# layers look like:
    The rest of the frames for the floor#s...
    So, I thought that the problem was that I needed to delay the image squence. I looked around and found no code or anything for that..
    Afterwards, I thought that it was because I had imported the tree and text gifs to the library before putting them on the stage.
    I opened a new fla and imported the "tree" gif straight to the stage.
    I figured that this should work because then it would show each of the individual frames in the movie clips, which it doesn't do in the above pictures. By importing the gif like this, it does show the individual frames. I've tested this with the image sequence and it works fine. But I have a problem with this method too..
    I select all of the frames for the gif to convert into a symbol, so I can add a motion tween and mess with the alpha. However, only the last frame is converted into a movie clip. Well actually no... Only the circled frames below are turned into the movie clip. Even when all of the frames are selected.  This isn't very helpful because then I can't change the alpha for the entire gif nor can I create a motion tween without getting a message saying that the motion tween could not be applied to all of the frames.
    Here's what this version of "tree" looks like.
    And the frames continue like so until 135.
    The frames that are turned into the movie clip are circled below.
    If I can solve the issue that I'm having with the tree shown in the two pictures above this sentence, then I can display the movie clips and image sequence without a problem. It wouldn't be quite how I had intended it to be, but it would be successful and would still work.
    If I can fix the problem with the image sequence showing up to early, and of the tree and text movie clips being cut off, then this project would also be successful and it would be how I had wanted it to be.
    If you need clarification, let me know and I'll explain something better.
    I am not willing to provide a download link in this forum for my fla files, but I can email them to you if you would like a look. I just don't want someone to be able to find them and take them by doing a google search.
    I have uploaded two swfs though.
    The first is of the tree and text layers/movie clips working as they are supposed to. The second is of the image sequence (floor1, floor2, floor3) doing what it is supposed to.
    Text and tree: http://glassoliverdesigns.weebly.com/uploads/1/0/6/5/10653451/tfg1.swf
    Floor1, floor2, floor3: http://glassoliverdesigns.weebly.com/uploads/1/0/6/5/10653451/tfg2.swf
    Notice how at the end of the text and tree swf, when the text stops the thing in the background keeps flashing. If that can keep flashing WHILE the images appear, then that would be great.
    TL;DR: I want the floor# flash to show up after the text and tree flash but I keep having problems and nothing I try is working properly.

    Very concise question, appreciate the screenshots. One thing that motion tweens don't always show very well is keyframes. Let me clear a few things up and see if it helps.
    Go back to what you wanted to do originally, which is copying the frames from one document to another. This is perfectly fine and to clear it up, it will also copy any library elements (images, clips, etc) that are required to copy those frames for you, so you do not need to import them yourself.
    To successfully copy frames (not symbols), select the first frame of the frames you want to copy, hold shift and select the last frame (alternatively double clicking anywhere in the blue motion tween should select it all as well). Now right-click and "Copy Frames". Now go into your new document, select a frame, right-click and select Paste Frames. You will see the same frames copied over, the blue representing the tween and keyframes came with it and you finally will notice all your images/etc were copied into your library.
    Now is a good time to manage the library clutter that was just copied in, if you're a clean freak like me.
    This process is the same, as you tried, for the other documents you want to copy in. If any resources match in name then Flash will ask you if you want to "overwrite" that library item. If you do that,  you will break one of your previous animations. Make sure that's not the case.
    The common gotcha here is not knowing how to slide frames over properly. If overwriting isn't the issue, this is what I suspect your problem is and as you expand/contract the timeline the keyframes aren't going with you.
    For example if I import 2 clips with fade in/out and move keyframes as you did I'll get something like this:
    Now moving them over I would be very careful to select all of the frames I want to move via the methods above. Click the first frame, hold shift and select the last frame, or double-click anywhere in the middle of the blue. The selection of frames:
    Now I simply drag my selected frames to the right, notice the keyframes stay as they should (the black dots):
    The animation plays as expected.
    Lastly I'm not sure if you've ever used the panel but you should really get used to the Motion Editor. This gives you control over easing as well as shows you an in-depth view of the keyframes that exist in a selected motion tween.
    At first this panel may look complex but it simply represents the basic properties you can animate. Any more properties you animate can be added in here. I moved the X, Y and Alpha properties of my object. So you can see over the frames 30-60 what I did. You can also adjust basic easing here.
    If your animations don't look correct you can select a motion tween, open the motion editor and verify the keyframes look correct. Scrub the timeline and look at the values you're interested in. Alpha for example, for you.
    If you don't see any keyframes when you scrub the timeline, you moved your frames over incorrectly and the keyframes probably exist in a different place and therefore it appears incorrect.

  • Using Collisions to Change Frame - Help Please

    Hello, I always come to this forum when I need help - its a
    great source of information. Was hoping someone knew what to do
    about my latest problem. I have a scene with several objects - a
    character you can move around and several token he picks up.
    Collision detection is achieved with Collision Modifiers. Upon the
    character touching one of these tokens I call a global variable
    called frame jump which is initially set to false. When I pick up a
    token it becomes true and it goes to the framejump handler which
    then tells the movie to switch frames.
    My problem is that I cant seem to set up the modifiers
    properly so that more the one frame can be viewed. Currently no
    matter what token I go to in the scene - the same frame of the
    movie comes up. I dont know what is causing it.
    My Code (apologies for what might be horrible code)

    Here's what I think you are trying to do:
    When the user's character collides with one of the token
    objects, you want to unlock a scene at a given frame. If the user
    has collected a number of tokens, all the associated scenes should
    be unlocked.
    It seems to me that the same 3D sprite containing the same 3D
    member appears at all the target frames. This leads me to guess
    that the "scenes" you wish to jump to are in fact inside the same
    3D world.
    It might be helpful if you could create a storyboard of how
    your movie is to work, and post it somewhere on-line so that we can
    take a look at it .

  • Quicktime 7 plays movie but skips frames

    Using Tiger and QT 7.1. The movie displays a frame then seems to jump forward. Seems to play 1 frame out of 30. These are fairly large movie files. Could Quicktime need more memory? If so I don't know how to access that.
    Thanks.
    Bill

    I just noticed what hardware Bill Graham1 lists as his Mac--a Power Mac 7300 running Tiger. He has to be using something like XPostFacto to get it to run on this older Mac. In any case, even if this 7300 has a processor board upgrade, it's not designed to handle Quicktime 7 video at a decent speed. I'd be interested to hear Bill's experience with Quicktime 6.5.2, under OS 10.3.x on his 7300--did it play movies at a normal speed? If so, then that would confirm he's seeing the Quicktime 7 bug, which is actually real--check some of the other posts in the Quicktime section from people with G4 Macs that are more than fast enough to play movie files using Quicktime 7, but who are seeing this problem, where other people with the same Mac model aren't, which indicates it's some sort of bug. My Mac, a G4 AGP at 500 mhz, played MPEG-1 movie files just fine, under OS 10.3.x, using Quicktime 6.5.2, but when I installed OS 10.4, which requires Quicktime 7, the same movie files now play for a few seconds, then stop; if I hit the Quicktime Player window's pause button, then press it again, the video starts playing at a normal speed, but only after skipping some frames, and then plays again for only a few seconds. If I keep doing this, the whole video plays, but that's not how it's supposed to work. The same thing happens when you run Quicktime Player 6.5.2 under OS 10.4.x--you can't run the Quicktime 6.5.2 installer under OS 10.4.x, but you can run its Quicktime Player application if you copy it from a Mac that has 6.5.2 installed--but it doesn't help, indicating the problem is something in the Quicktime 7 extensions, or a problem with some OS file(s) that affect Quicktime playback, at least with MPEG-1 files--I haven't tried any MPEG-2 files.
    If you play these same MPEG-1 files using VLC Media Player instead of Quicktime Player, they play with no pauses, on these same "slow" Macs. I don't think VLC relies on Quicktime software. This further implicates Quicktime 7 as the cause of the problem.

  • Configurable alternate windows for help topics

    Greetings,
    We'd like to be able to sometimes open a help topic in an alternative window in certain scenarios, but other times resuse the current window, with the new help topic replacing the currently viewed topic. Currently you can only have one or the other as the window type association is defined in the map file, for example:
    <map>
    <mapID target="topic_3" url="file_3.html" wintype="intro" />
    <mapID target="topic_5.tsk" url="file_5.html" wintype="task" />
    </map>
    We'd like to specify the window type within the
    so that depending on the context, the topic would display in the original window or in a new
    window. For example,
    Getting Started
    Is this possible with the current versions of OHJ and OHW? If not, can it be considered as a enhancement request?
    thanks,
    Elizabeth Dyer.

    Hi, Elizabeth,
    How about you just define multiple topic id's pointing to the same url but with different window types? The syntax
    Getting Started
    will not currently work in OHJ (and window types are totally ignored in OHW). We can keep it in mind as an enhancement request, but in all honestly, it probably won't be implemented for a long time.
