Multiple sessions with Viewer 3.3.61

Hi,
I have Discoverer Server set up on a single machine, using OAS as the HTTP server, and Viewer 3.3.61.
If a user tries to run 2 queries at the same time (opens up two browser windows), one of the queries will be cancelled (usually te first query started).
Why is this? Is this normal functionality, or do I need to set something up for multiple sessions? If I need to set something up, where can I find documentation?

I think this is normal for Discoverer. It seems to be that there is a session for each user login. Thus a single query for each login. This is just my observation.

802.1x multiple sessions with same LOGIN+MAC on single-host port

We have 802.1x with radius server.
c2960 configured to allow only one device per port with no Mac-Bypass and no critical auth.
From time to time user seems to get multiple authentications on single port with single mac-address.
So we get several sessions on port with the same login, mac (but different session-id).
Command "dot1x re-auth int" doesn't clear those sessions. Neither do "force-unauthorized" or "shut/noshut". Only thing that helps is reboot switch.
Happens with different users.
Anybody seen this issue?

How do I create a program with multiple sessions?

I need to allow multiple sessions with this program.
I realize that it involves threading of some sort, but I'm pretty new to this area and am not sure how I should go about this.
Here are the instructions:
"�     Write an application that will create an online dictionary a data file will be supplied that contains a list of words and their meanings. The hash table will contain a key (the word in question) and a value (byte offset of the word meaning stored in a random access file). You will also provide methods for entering, searching and deleting words online. The program must allow for multiple sessions."
I have most of this all done, and have a dictionaryBroker ready to write the add, delete and search methods.
But what about the mutliple sessions?
I'm thinking that my hashTable and RandomAccessFile classes are both going to have to be singleton.
What I want is for multiple people to be able to run the program at the same time, but if one person adds or deletes a record, I want it to update instantly for everyone.
But it also needs to run smoothly for everyone using it.

The hash table will contain a key (String) and a value (Object)
Allow for a specific load capacity, if the capacity is exceeded the table is rehashed. The rehash may be called independently
Must allow for maintaining the hash table (adding modifying etc) the key will not be changed
Must allow for retrieving information from the table
Must allow addition using a Map object or one key, value pair at a time
The addition using a Map and the rehash must be a two pass approach
�     Implement the interface.
�     Write a test routine to test all aspects of the interface. The test must calculate the efficiency of your hashing algorithm.
�     Write an application that will create an online dictionary a data file will be supplied that contains a list of words and their meanings. I'm in Canada, not the US.
It says online dictionary, but I don't think we actually have to do that. I'm pretty sure I can just use a simple GUI to allow them access to the dictionary.
So, I'm assuming that I just have to make sure that if multiple people are trying to access it at the same time it needs to update at the same time or something. The hashtable was the main part of the assignment so this part shouldn't be too large.

Creating / Handling multiple sessions

How can I create multiple sessions with Servlets/JSP?
The requirement is this:
An admin-type user logs into my application. There, he can see a list of normal (non-admin) users, and should be able to log into those users accounts. Therefore, it is necessary to start a new session as this user, while the he should still be able to be logged into his admin account (and log into more users accounts, if need be). So, the admin session must remain valid, and for each login into a user account, a new session must be created.
I understand that this is not possible using the standard cookie-based approach, so I turned them off for the respective context in Tomcat and encoded all URLs using <c:url ...>. Still, I don't know how to start a new session, there seems to be no method to do this. When there is an active session, getSession(false) returns it, that's all I get. So how do I create a new session with a new session id?
While trying to figure this out, I also noticed some odd behavior in Tomcat (Version 6, though this might apply to other Tomcat Versions or even other web containers. If no session is yet active (like, on the Login page of the application), or the active session is being invalidated (as after logout), a new session is created every time one of those pages is accessed. This also happens if no session id is given at all in the URL (and, probably, if an expired session id is submitted, I didn't try this one yet).
This is not good, simply speaking. This way, the web container will quickly get swamped with ghost sessions that were, on my part, never created, and never used; still, they hang around until they expire, of course.
Any ideas? :)

This is a common scenario in the company I work for, where 3 support people serve about 1000 active customers (of another, PHP-based project). Customer calls, a supporter will use the admin account to log in to his account and have the problem explained. If the solving takes longer, he will tell the customer that he will look into it and call back when it's sorted out. Now while he is working on this, the next customer calls, so the supporter will use the admin account again to log in this account, also, to have the problem explained etc. If the second problem is solved quickly, he will then just log out of the second customers user session and simply continue working on the first customers problem which is still active in another browser window.
Now, if the support people can have only one user session open at a time, they will have to close the first customers user session they were working in (probably having to save some work only halfway done) when the second customer calls, log in to that second customers account, help him, log out of the account to go back to the admin panel, log back into the first customer account, resume work there.
Long story short, while the first approach enables them to do small tasks on the side while working on a bigger problem, this is not possible in the second approach.

Is it possible to do multiple recordings with the same session.

I appologize in advance for this but here goes. I want to make several background narrations for some video clips. Using Audition 3, I start out by recording in the multitrack view on the top track. Because of mistakes, this takes several audio clips. After finishing, I rightclick on one of the clips, select bounce to new track all audio tracks and this creates a mixdown. Moving to edit view, I do noise correction, then back to multitrack where I export the mixdown as .wav.
THen I select the clips in the top track and mixdown in the next track and hit delete. However, when I hit the arming 'R" and then the record button, the cursor doesn't move more than a milimeter and then keeps going back and forth.
I was trying to do multiple narrations with just this one session, so is that possible? Do I have to do a separate session for each separate mixdown?
If there is something I'm doing wrong, I would appreciate any directions.

Let me stop you right there, for a start, because what you are doing still isn't clear, although I think that I can guess at it...
Creating a bounce-down is not the same thing as creating a mixdown. If each of these clips you've recorded constitutes a separate file, which it will if you hit the stop button rather than pause - which it sounds as though you have, otherwise you wouldn't be able to separate them so easily - then just double-clicking on the clip will open it immediately in Edit View anyway. And the bounce-down options don't mention tracks, they mention clips - all audio in session, selected range or selected clips. Yes you get one file as a result - but it's literally just the clips as they stand run together not via the mixer, any effects or automation system - which it would have to be if it were a proper mixdown. A bouhce is exactly what it says - just bouncing the clips.

Hmm... when I hit the delete key, nothing happens - I have to right-click to get stuff to delete like that. But you most certainly can re-record in a session, yes. If you get the cursor moving just a fraction of a mm, then almost certainly this means that instead of moving the cursor back to the start, you've moved it slightly with the mouse pressed and created a very small range.So before you record, hit the 'Go to Beginning or Previous Marker' key (next to the play looped key) and try again - it should work properly then.
And of course you haven't deleted all the files - they are still there on your system and will remain so unless you delete them outside Audition, either the hard way, or using MediaSweeper.
Your workflow is, to say the least, a little strange. If I were recording narrations (which I do sometimes), I'd record in Edit View, and keep just the files or takes I wanted. Then I'd import these into Multitrack view, arrange them, crossfade them, whatever, and then do a mixdown of the result, which would appear back in Edit View for final trimming and saving, and I'd have a file (or files) to use in the final production. This would have the advantage of not creating all these 'take' files that you have to get rid of separately in the first place, and generally keep the workflow down to a sensible number of steps.

You cannot shadow a session with multiple monitors enabled in Windows Server 2008 R2

Searching through the forums (and according to KB2484290) it appears that there is no solution to this problem. We are rolling out thin clients that are using dual monitors exclusively and we were very surprised to find out that we couldn't shadow
sessions with dual monitors (which to us means that we can't shadow ANY sessions). This now completely changes our approach to managing these devices.
We are running Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 with Remote Desktop Services installed. The thin clients are running Windows Embedded Standard 7 with the latest updates / RDP client. All steps have been followed to ensure that the apropriate settings and
permissions have been set up to allow access into the session.
We tested by unchecking the RDP setting “use all my monitors for the remote session”, with that setting disabled shadowing worked
Questions:
1. KB2484290 is from Dec 2010 - It's now April 2012, is there a workaround / hotfix for this issue that will allow us to shadow sessions using the native Microsoft tools?
2. Are there any recommended alternatives (software)? Free/Paid - doesn't matter we just need something that will work. I'm sure there are a few options out there but I am looking for suggestions for what people have used in the past that worked
best for them to help us narrow down the choices.

In my experience, so far, the workaround is Remote Assistance, Remote Assistance supports multiple monitors, and is the presently recommended solution if you need this functionality. Remote Assistance is a Windows Server Feature that must be explicitly installed
on Windows Server 2008 R2; it is already installed with the client versions of the operating system.

How to make Hibernate's Open Session In View Pattern work with Portal?

I have a need to implement Hibernate's "Open Session In View" pattern in Portal's Page Flow and its JSP (View).
Traditionaly, this can be done via a servlet filter, have the filter open the session and close the session, all the Page Flow action and JSP are inside the window between session open and close. For non-portal env, a single HttpRequest maps to only one Page Flow, this approach works.
But for WebLogic Portal, a HttpRequest might trigger a Portal page to render multiple Portlets, each Portlet has its own Page Flow. Using this filter approach might force all Page Flow to share one open Hibernate Session, not we desired.
So in WebLogic Portal, how can I manage the Hibernate Session life cycle so that Page Flow action and JSP can share one opened Hibernate Session?

Nevermind. Did a little searching and someone else explained that you have to add these items like they are toolbar buttons. Only then is there anything to drag. Someone please tell the developers at FF that they are idiots and to please fix the status bar before everyone jumps ship on them. This is ridiculous.

How to deal with multiple sessions?

My application has requirement that number of users can log simultaneously. They can search documents, browse the site, etc. Now the funtions they can perform depend on their user type. So to keep track of their userids and usertypes, do i need to create different sessions for each of them?
If yes, how do i tackle such a multiple session problem? ( Say if an user of type A clicks the search documents button, how do i know which session he belongs to?)
If no, what else can i use?

Hi,
You only need to maintain different user types and assign one or more types to your users. You can have another table that say what privileges each user type has. Then the first time the user logs in, you fetch this information and store it in your session. Then when the user tries to do something, all you do is get his user type and see if the user type has permissions to do that specific action. You then allow or disallow him from doing the action.

i want to use the form in Multiple sessions.
i have one sign up form. user enter only 4 to 5 fields & he may not fill the the manditory field & he left.but data base dont give the error to him. but next day he will come at the next day to complet his sign up i.e. when he commit the all detail that time all validation will hapen.
for that i use one table without constrain to store the temarory detail.& use other table (with constrains) for final submition.
1) i creat the view n entity for temparory table
2) & also i create views n entity for Final table
n i create one methos in viewRowImple file in that file i overrid create method from using this i set the value from tempary to final table...
but when user left the manditory field then it allow to submit the data in temparory field but when i copy that data to final table(with constrain) n user submit the data then validation happn i.e. "this fild is mandatory".when i click this error message it goes to first screen.
IS Thiis Possible.. in ADF

Generally this can be done.
I see a problem with your use case, which has nothing to do with jdev or java:
How do you identify the user when he comes back to finish the form?
For this you can't use information like session cookie or IP address because they change.
So you have to save some information about the user which lets you identify him when he comes back. All other requirements can be implemented by ADF.

How to open multiple sessions for one user?

Sorry for the silly question but I couldn't find it googling or searching through this forum, so I started wondering whether it's possible in SQL Developer to open multiple sessions for one user. I'm fairly new to SQL Developer and databases in general.
When I open SQL Developer and connect to a schema, a worksheet opens named MYSCHEMA. If I disconnect then connect, another worksheet opens, named MYSCHEMA~1. I assumed these were different sessions, but if I enter into one worksheet:
select col1 from my_table where row_id = 1

update my_table set col1 = 0 where row_id = 1
select col1 from my_table where row_id = 1
-- shows result is 0and then enter into the second worksheet:
select col1 from my_table where row_id = 1

Ctrl-Shift-N doesn't do anything for me. I'm on a mac -- by experimenting it looks like command-N does what you're looking for. This appears to be the same as left-clicking on the "New" icon in the top left corner of SQL Developer, or selecting from the pull-down menu, File > New.
This opens "Create a New" window that appears to be a wizard. What would I select at this point? Options are: Database Connection, Table, View, Package, ...
I don't see an option for "Worksheet".
UPDATE:
OK, I found that if I select "SQL File", a worksheet becomes available. Perhaps this is what you intended. However, when I issue the command
select col1 from my_table where row_id = 1;it still returns 0 instead of 1. Hmm, maybe my initial assumption was wrong -- if this is a second (e.g. different) session, should I expect the changes made in the first session in SQL Developer (the UPDATE command) WITHOUT a commit, to be observed in this second session? I thought that changes made in one session were not viewable in a different session until these changes are committed in the first session? If so, how to show this in SQL Developer? I must be missing something basic here.
Or, is SQL Developer issuing some sort of "auto-commit" without my knowledge?

Multiple session bean problem

Hi,
I am developing an admin module to my web app and have created a 2nd session bean to manage data within the admin component of the site just to keep things cleaner and more logical. However there is a problem which I cannot overcome.
The source code to my main website is located in soulsurfing package. The source code to my admin website is located in soulsurfing.admin package. Inside this package is the java code to my admin web pages and a 2nd session bean called adminSessionBean. So far so good.
I dropped a database table into my admin page which created a cachedrowset (CustomerRowSet) in my adminSessionBean and a data provider on my admin page (CustomerDataProvider). Ok things are still going well until now.
There are two main issues i'm facing.
1. Setting a breakpoint in my code and trying to step through the code line by line (F10) fails whenever the adminSessionBean appears in the line of code. In actuality the system just hangs until I exit debug mode in which the page finishes loading ok. If I step into the code (F11) it still works ok and if there is no breakpoint at all it loads ok too so there is something wrong with the debugger.
2. Most importantly there is a problem with either the cachedrowset or the data provider because it simply does not return any data from the database. The sql query works fine in both MySQL and when running from creator too so no problem here. If I put a line of code in to capture the sql statement such as String test_var3 = getAdmin$adminSessionBean().getCustomerRowSet().getStatement().toString() a null exception is thrown. However if I ditch the 2nd session bean (adminSessionBean) and run everything exactly the same through the original session bean (SessionBean1) located in soulsurfing package then it all works fine so there must be conflict somewhere with having multiple session beans perhaps in different packages.
Can anybody help me?

Hi Harini,
What I didn't explain in my initial post is that there are more than 2 views in my application. There are a total of 9 jsp's so far, so I coded multiple controllers due to the high amount of views. After taking the HTMLB training class, I noticed that the examples used contained no more than 2 jsp's, so only 1 controller was needed.
However, I talked with another Portal developer, and he suggested that it would be simpler to code the application using only 1 controller. The problem is, I will have 1 LOOOOONG controller since there are many buttons across all of the jsp's (hence many events that will need to be handled) and many beans that need to be populated.
Harini, thanks very much for offering to view my par file. I think I have solved the problem on my own, but could you let me know what the design standard is for an application of this size? Think of an online banking application that needs to handle bill payment (paying the bill, viewing past payments, etc.,).
Would you use 1 controller for this type of application?

Oracle forms multiple session

I need to populate a grid with multiple rows where multiple users can view the data in their respective login fetched from multiple tables. The users can select some configuration data in the UI to perform insert or update transactions for multiple rows to another table.
I need to uniquely identify the set of rows for each user and for each session so that I can insert or update the rows. The user also can re-query the newly inserted or updated rows to table.
Please let me know whether usage of global temporary tables can be used here.
Is there any other way to achieve the same?
The oracle stored procedure should return the result set and the oracle forms should be able to display it in the UI. I am using oracle 10g.

There are multiple users with the same display name

Hi,
We have a user and when she get an item assigned to her she sees the following alert:
"There are multiple users with the same display name USERNAME and at least one of them does not have read permissions to some of the files"
Now I looked in the database and when I run the following query with the username:

Then I get 2 same usernames back, How can I get rid of one of them ? When I access TFS trough the portal I only find 1 occurence of this user.

In your query result, please check if these two users have the same Account Name. if they are two different Account Name in result, it indicate there’s two users have the same display name in your AD, please check that two users’ information in
your AD. We suggest change one user’s display name in AD.

Multiple Issues with Adobe Creative Cloud app.

I'm having multiple issues with the Adobe Creative Cloud app.
1. Neither Photoshop CC nor Prelude CC get past the 47% mark when installing. They constantly give me "Installation Failed" messages. When I click on "Learn More", I'm told that:
"Installation Failed

So naturally, I click on More Information to get the following thrown at me (none of which I understand):

2. I installed Lightroom 5, then uninstalled it. When I went back to re-install it, the Adobe Creative Cloud app wouldn't let me. It states that my Lightroom 5 is "Up to date" and is in my "Your Apps" section, not in the "Find New Apps" section. I've double checked my Programs and Features in Control Panel, and it's not there. I cleaned my registry, and it's still there. I deleted the "opm.db" file in my OOBE folder, and restarted CC - still nothing.
I've got to say, guys. I'm not very happy with the amount of time I've spent just trying to install programs on my PC. While the plan is for this to be intuitive at some point, it's not very functional at the moment. Any help you can provide me would be amazing - if you can provide it sooner than later, I'd be over the moon.

I fixed it. I fixed it on my own. My journey took over a week (forty hours of back and forths, trial and error, and service!!) and included multiple calls, multiple online chats, unanswered forum posts, Twitter conversations with the Adobe Customer Service team, remote access sessions with Adobe technical teams, and finally this series of emails. In the end, I had to figure it out myself. I'm not happy - not with the time it took, and not with the level service I received based on the urgency that I made clear.
For anyone else that had this issue (or similar), here is what I did to fix it. This may seem excessive, but that's because I didn't know what else to do. Some of these steps may be redundant, or not required... but I wouldn't know because once I saw that it was working, I just kept going.
Anyway, here is the solution I came upon (I'm running Windows 7 64-bit):
1) I uninstalled every single Adobe product (including Flash Player, Acrobat Player, Air, and Digital Editions).
2) I ran the Cleaner Tool (which is not very good) and came across errors in trying to delete certain folders.
3) I restarted my computer in Safe Mode, and logged into Windows 7 under my Administrator account.
4) I manually went into every folder that contained the words "Adobe" and deleted everything. This includes my Program Data folder, my Program Files folders (both x86 and 64-bit), my AppData folders, my Roaming folders, my Temp folders - ANYTHING and EVERYTHING that contained any trace of Adobe, I deleted.
5) I ran Microsoft Disk Cleanup and Piriform CCleaner to clean my registry and temp files.
6) I restarted my computer using the normal boot process and logged into Windows as Administrator.
7) I downloaded the Adobe Creative Cloud installer.
8) I restarted my computer again, and logged into Windows as Administrator.
9) I ran the Creative Cloud installer, and installed Premiere Pro.
10) I restarted my computer again, and logged into Windows as Administrator.
11) I ran the Creative Cloud installer, and installed Photoshop.
12) I restarted my computer again, and logged into Windows as Administrator.
13, 14, 15...) I ran the Creative Cloud installer and installed whatever programs I needed, then I IMMEDIATELY restarted my computer before installing anything else.
