Multiple sources in a single Connection Pool

Hi Folks,
I have a requirement to import data from two diffrent data sources( for example : Two diffrent database of Oracle in two diffrent servers) using a single connection pool to the physical layers of OBIEE RPD. Can anyone please suggest whether this is possible or not? If yes please provide the steps.

DB Links is an Oracle feature, not an OBIEE. You have to create your DB link in one of the schemas in DB1 so you can connect from there to DB2. Then you can simply create a query that joins data from both DBs:
SELECT * FROM DUAL d1, DUAL@DB2 d2
WHERE d1.dummy = d2.dummy
Search on Google as this is a very popular and simple feature to use. It will allow you to use one connection pool that's connection to two DBs.

  • Multiple DataSource using single Connection Pool

    Previously using Weblogic 6.1 we had a configuration where multiple Datasources used a single connection pool. Now that we are in the process of upgrading to Weblogic 9.1, we are attempting to recreate the same configuration.
    The Weblogic 9.1 upgrade wizard appears to have created the relevent datasource & connection pool configuration files but when attempting to use these I am receiving the following errors:

    Would anyone be able to point me in the right direction with this? Configuring the Datasources through the Admin Console creates a single Datasource configuration file that contains its relevent connection pool configuration, but the Weblogic Upgrade wizard creates a Datasource config file and a separate connection pool config file. What would I need to do to use the config files generated by the Weblogic Upgrade wizard?
    Any help appreciated
    Thanks

    Simplified JDBC Resource Configuration
    In WebLogic Server 9.0, the number of JDBC resource types was reduced to simplify JDBC configuration and to reduce the likelihood
    of configuration errors. Instead of configuring a JDBC connection pool and then configuring a data source or tx data source to
    point to the connection pool and bind to the JNDI tree, you configure a data source that encompasses a connection pool.
    Note: Because of the new configuration design, you can no longer have multiple data sources that point to a single connection
    pool. Instead, you can create additional data sources, each with its own pool of connections, or you can bind a single data source
    to the JNDI tree with multiple names. See Binding a Data Source to the JNDI Tree with Multiple Names for more information.

    Would anyone be able to point me in the right direction with this? Configuring the Datasources

    a separate connection pool config file. What would I need to do to use the config files generated

  • Two Schema folder, single connection pool

    Hi
    I have two schema folders in physical layer of obiee 10g. And one connection pool.
    My scenario is the schema have different login ids and in connection pool I can give only one login information.
    How can we have two schema folders under one connection pool. Please suggest.
    Thanks.

    I dont think fully qualified names will not work here please correct if I am wrong. Rather shared logon guess should work but did not in my case.
    The fully qualified names are based on the physical object names in the repository. If you are querying the same tables from which the physical layer metadata was imported, you can safely check the option. If you have migrated your repository from one physical database to another physical database that has different database and schema names, the fully qualified names would be invalid in the newly migrated database. In this case, if you do not select this option, the queries will succeed against the new database objects.
    For some data sources, fully qualified names might be safer because they guarantee that the queries are directed to the desired tables in the desired database. For example, if the RDBMS supports a master database concept, a query against a table named foo first looks for that table in the master database, and then looks for it in the specified database. If the table named foo exists in the master database, that table is queried, not the table named foo in the specified database.

    which has multiple source structures like(header structure,Tax structure,Mailstructure,Identification structure,bankdetails structure,card strcuture........etc of 12 structures) with identification for each structure. can any one help me how to handle this in lsmw or any link of this kind of scenario will be helpful for me .
    Thanks and Regards,

    Hi Saeed,
    For example if you want t create bom through lsmw then we will *** two files one header and other item one.In the same way .In lsmw start by keeping the idoc method i will only propose at second step how many files it need. Just map the idoc and see. Post if need more help.

  • Multiple sources to a single table

    Hi,
    I have two seperate target tables from two seperate mappings. I need to determine the row count from the two tables and feed it in a seperate mapping to a single target table as two seperate attributes. My several attempts have resulted in the error "Attributes flowing into target table have different data sources". Is there someone in this forum that could recommend some solution to this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    thanks in advance

    Hi,
    there are several variants:
    1) insert your target table into mapping twice
    2) use UNION ALL (Set operator)

  • Mapping Multiple Source fields to Single Target Fields with differnt Values

    Hello Friends,
    I am having a senario  where I have to mapped multiple fileds from source str. to same Idoc Fields with ( differnt default values )
    E.g Source Str.
    - ShopNO
    - OrderTyp
    Has to mapped to Idoc Str E1EDK14-Orgid.
    E.g Mapping:
    So when ShopNo will mapped to E1EDK14-Orgid the default value should be "MOP" & E1EDK14-Qualf should be 019
    and when OrderType will be mapped to E1EDK14-Orgid the default value should be "STD" & E1EDK14-Qualf should be 012
    So I tried of using node "UseOneAsMany".....but there I cant define the vaule of field orgid, and seconly how to specify the values of field Qualf?
    Do i need to write my own specify function ? or I can sovle this issue using standard avaiable functions ?
    Regards,

    Hi Ravi,
    Thanks for your reply....
    I am facing following problem... when I try to duplicate the segment and do mapping....... and then when I save, I got following error msg:
    The source or target structure has been changed or could not be found in the Integration Repository. The mapping definition contains elements or attributes that do not exist in the changed structure. The relevant entries will be deleted
    Target structure has no such path: /ZARVO_ORD/IDOC/E1EDK05[1]/KSCHL. Skipping mapping
    Target structure has no such path: /ZARVO_ORD/IDOC/E1EDK05[1]/KRATE. Skipping mapping
    Any suggestion ?
    in other words, when I do duplicate it creates me the segment, but when I save it, it gets disappered .........

  • Multiple source values to single target in value mapping

    Hi Experts,
    I have to acheive below thing using value mapping.
    Source                        Target
    ABC                            111
    CBA                            111
    XYZ                             222
    ZYX                             222
    When I am trying to do this in ID, It is not allowing me.
    Is there a way to do this?
    Regards,
    Prasad

    Source            Target
      ABC               111
      CBA               111
      XYZ               222
      ZYX               222
    For the above source and target you have to create 2 value mapping groups.
    In more detail I want to say is,
    1. Just create your value mapping by using Source & target Agency & Schema.
    2. Create your first value mapping group which will return the traget value as '111'.
    3. Create your second value mapping group within the same  Agency & Schema which will return you '222'.
    While creating it If get any warning just ignore it..
    Note: You can add multiple value mapping groups if you have different outputs for different sources.

    Sarvesh

  • Load into single target table frm multiple source table in single interfac

    Hi
    I have four source table and a single target table.
    I need to move data from either of these tables into a target table , and we have to decide the source table based on user input.
    Example :
    Lets say there are four tables A,B,C,D and one target table T.
    If user input says A
    then the data from table A will move to table T
    And again , if the user says table C then data from table C will move to table T.
    And we have to create only one interface for achieving this in oracle Data Integrator ( ODI ).
    You can take assumptions in source and target table.

    Hi ,
    In ODI 11g , there are new feature callled dataset. It allows to use UNION , MINUS etc.
    Google it , you will get many tutorials on Dataset. check the link
    http://www.rittmanmead.com/2011/06/odi-11g-new-mapping-and-interface-features-part-1/
    In your case , you can provide filter conditions on your tables i.e.
    Say My target table is EMPLOYEE , My source tables are EMPLOYEE and DEPARTMENT
    INSERT INTO EMPLOYEE(CUSTOMER_ID , CUSTOMER_NAME) SELECT CUSTOMER_ID , CUSTOMER_NAME from employee where 'EMPLOYEE' = :EMP
    UNION DEPARTMENT_ID , DEPARTMENT_NAME from departments where 'DEPARTMENT' = :EMP ;
    Just pasted the Screenshots on following page : http://oracoholic.blogspot.in/ . Have a look

  • How to map multiple source structures to single target structure

    Hi all,
    I have the scenario of 2 input files so i am using BPM for it. I have created the message types of the 3 input files. I have to finally generate an XML file which will contain the data of all the 2 files. That is i have to do 3:1 mapping.
    Source Structure of File 1:
    <b>DT_PWC_Customer</b>
    <i>RECORDSET</i>
      <u>CUSTOMER</u>
       <i><b>REF_NO</b></i>
       <i><b>CUSTOMER_NO</b></i>
    Source Structure of File 2:
    <b>DT_PWC_Customer</b>
    <i>RECORDSET</i>
      <u>METER</u>
       <i><b>REF_NO
       METER_NO</b></i>
    Target Structure of Final Output File:
    <b>DT_PWC_CustomerMeterData</b>
    <i>RECORDSET</i>
      <u>CUSTOMER_METER</u>
       <i><b>REF_NO
       CUSTOMER_NO
       METER_NO</b></i>
    Above nodes i have shown in a heirarchical order..nodes with same indentation are at same level.
    Can anybody tell me how to do this mapping in IR in graphical editor.
    RAJEEV GUPTA

    Hi,
    To elaborate my requirement, I want to tell that since i will be having 2 input files- one for Customer & one for Meter. I want to finally generate one XML file which will have data from both these 2 input files. That is, if Customer file has 3 records(3 REF_NO, 3 CUSTOMER_NO) and Meter file has 4 records(4 REF_NO, 4 METER_NO), the final output XML file  will   have 7 records(7 REF_NO, 3 CUSTOMER_NO,4 METER_NO).

  • Issue-Mapping Multiple Source Occurence to Single Target Occurence

    Hi Gurus,
    I have a requirement where the source has occurence 0 to 4 where as the target has occurence 1 to 1 .
    Let the source segment be S where the child elements for S are S1 and S2 .
    S1 takes the values 1 , 2 & 3 .
    S2 takes the values X , Y & Z .
    I need to map S2 to target field T1 if and only if S1 has the value "2" .
    How can we achieve this ? I tried using the node functions but couldn't achive as i want the 2nd value of S2 from the given set of values ( X , Y & Z ) .
    Please help me out in this issue.
    Thanks in advance .
    Regards,
    Sarat

    Hi,
    You can use this mapping:
    S1 --> removeContext --> equalsS --> ifWithoutElse --> removeContext (used to remove suppressed values) --> T1
    constant: 2 -
    > / ____________/
    S2 > removeContext--
    > /

    Hi,
    In my project, several different servlets run together and access to the same database.
    I have already created a connectionPool, but I don't know how to make it unique for all my Servlets, not just for the instances of one.

    You could re-write (or wrap) your ConnectionPool as a singleton class.

  • Multiple sessions in a single database connection.

    I have copied the following text from Forms Developer2000
    "At runtime, Form Builder automatically establishes and manages a single connection to ORACLE. By default, one user session is created for this connection. However, the multiple-sessioning feature of ORACLE allows a single client to establish multiple sessions within a single connection. ORACLE transaction-management and read-consistency features all are implemented at the session level, so creating multiple sessions allows a single user to have multiple, independent transactions."
    If ORACLE allows a single client to establish multiple sessions within a single connection, I want to leverage on this feature in my application which uses BC4J.
    Can anybody tell me if
    1. its possible achieve this in Java(BC4J).
    2. If Yes, How?
    regards,
    vikrant

    Thank you for your valuable suggestion.
    I believe createing multiple root Application
    Modules, will create as many number of connections to
    database, hence multiple transactions.
    But What I wanted was multiple sessions in a single
    connection, who's behavior will be similar to two
    different connections.Could you tell me the advantage you're looking for in multiple sessions in one connection vs. multiple connections (where connections may be pooled)?
    Thanks.

    Edited by: user9284716 on 13 Oct, 2010 8:11 AM

    1. My guess is for simplifying the config.xml file.
    2. Have you worked on both 8.x and 9.x or 10.x WLS versions and Domains? See below notes.
    3. In 8.x, under domain we just had huge config.xml file that has all the details of that domain including servers, cluster, managed servers, ConnectionPools, DataSources. Specially we created ConnectionPool that went into one section. Then create one or many Datasources wth different JNDI names that refer to above connection pools etc.
    Starting 9.x and 10.x, config.xml file is split into multiple folders, if you have seen. Now under domain root folder, we see a new folder called config. And config folder has lot of sub-folders specially like jdbc. Now jdbc folder is the one having .xml file for each DataSource that you create from weblogic console. Now this .xml file itself have connection pool details also. REMEMBER that you can still have multiple Datasources for the same connection pool and they all still go under same .xml file itself. So indirectly its like one connection pool will have one .xml file and this .xml file itself will have one or many datasources with diff JNDI name that refer to same connection pool. Something like this:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <jdbc-data-source xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/weblogic/jdbc-data-source">
    <name>portalDataSource</name>
    <jdbc-driver-params>
    <url>jdbc:pointbase:server://localhost:9093/weblogic_eval</url>
    <driver-name>com.pointbase.jdbc.jdbcUniversalDriver</driver-name>

    <value>jdbc:pointbase:server://localhost:9093/weblogic_eval</value>
    </property>
    </properties>
    <password-encrypted>{AES}BCjbW4pXK8wCWQ+AESqJd9BDAdmusVFn1tRWdeZFurU=</password-encrypted>
    </jdbc-driver-params>
    <jdbc-connection-pool-params>
    <initial-capacity>5</initial-capacity>
    <max-capacity>20</max-capacity>
    <test-connections-on-reserve>true</test-connections-on-reserve>
    <test-table-name>SQL SELECT COUNT(*) FROM SYSTABLES</test-table-name>
    </jdbc-connection-pool-params>
    <jdbc-data-source-params>
    <jndi-name>weblogic.jdbc.jts.commercePool</jndi-name>
    <jndi-name>contentDataSource</jndi-name>
    <jndi-name>contentVersioningDataSource</jndi-name>
    <jndi-name>portalFrameworkPool</jndi-name>
    <global-transactions-protocol>OnePhaseCommit</global-transactions-protocol>
    </jdbc-data-source-params>
    </jdbc-data-source>
    5. Since entire Weblogic Console UI itself is changed from 8.x to 9.x, they have rewritten the way these things are configured and separated into multiple folders. I would say for more simplicity and easy maintenance.
    Thanks

  • How dynamically create connection pool and Datasource

    Hi
    How I can dynamically create a connection pool and Data source in Oracle 10g Application server. In our J2EE application the user will be login with db user name, password and database name. I want to create connection pool and data source on the fly while login the user with database name. I our application we have access approximate 80 Databases. so my approach is given bellow
    1) Planning to create 80 connection pools and 80 Data sources so when user logs in while selecting the db name i will call the appropriate data source and create the DB connection. Is there any limitation to create number of data sources in oracle app server?
    2) Create DB connection with out using connection pool and data source. But i am not prefer this approach coz we need to handle some transaction in our application.
    Kindly throw some light on managing connection pool programmatically or in application run time.
    I would really appreciate if any one can provide any links or any inormation on this issue.
    Thanks in advance.

    Kindly let me know is there any drawbacks to create 80 Data Sources to connect 80 database in Oracle 10G App server and each data sources should have one connection pool. so i need to create 80 connection pool. Please let me know is this right approach or any work around to create Data source on fly for each request for corresponding database.
