Multiple User FTP with semi-Isolation

So I have a bit of a conundrum that general walkthroughs don't seem to cover.
So I have a machine running Windows Server 2012 with IIS8. There's no AD or anything fancy. I have 3 types of users for my machine: Administrators, Users, and a usergroup I created called PostUsers. I'll only be dealing with Administrators and PostUsers
I've setup FTP sites before but this is a bit tricky.
Here's what I'm trying to accomplish:
Create FTP access to a folder called DataStore (which is the FTP Root) and PostData. DataStore is a large folder that can contain anything and will have the PostData folder inside of it. Administrators will have access to the DataStore folder while PostUsers
can only access the PostData folder. Aditionally I want to give the Administrator access to a folder outside of the DataStore folder, for instance his User files. I don't need any help with drive permissions, the NTFS Security settings are already fine, so
ignore any concerns for this. I want to do this through Virtual Directories/User Isolation configured through IIS. I've seen some of the official guides on iis.net but they don't really give me any help on my specific situation because I'm kind of new to this.
Right now I have it so that the PostUsers can only access the PostData folder and the Administrator can access the DataStore folder, however when I log in I cannot see the Virtual Directories that I have created in the Administrator's Virtual Directory, nor
have I been able to remedy this by putting a shortcut to the Administrator's User data folder in the DataStore folder.
It seems to be that any Virtual Directories created in IIS that are below the LocalUser folder cease to exist.
Anyone know of a remedy to do this correctly or a workaround to accomplish making Virtual Directories to folders outside of the DataStore folder?

I would recommend asking them in IIS forums: http://forums.iis.net/

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
That's simply not possible I'm afraid. You'd need to give them their own account and allowance or make it so you are required to be there to input the password when they wish to make a purchase.

  • Multiple users found with the same name

    Hi,
In my ADF bean, I am trying to access some users from ldap. I found there are two users with the same email in my console under "Users and Groups" tab.
I am getting the following error in logs:

Any suggestions are welcome.can i try some work around for that?
    Thanks.

    Hi.
For some reason you have duplicates. Normally is something strange but it can occurs in heavy load / database corruptions or other situations.
You should contact a LDAP Administrator in order to find and fix the duplicate problem.

  • Setting up multiple users / computers with 1 itunes on NAS

    Hi all,
Sorry in advance is this question has already been asked, there is so much stuff floating around on the forum that it would take for ever to surf thru it all.
I recently purchased a Buffalo NAS with itunes server on it.
I'm currently in the process of copying all music folders from local Disk to NAS - some purchases from iTunes, some from my own CD collection.
I will be reinstalling windows on my Desktop PC.
What i want to achive is
    1. A fresh start in iTunes (no ratings, no play counts etc), i will be rebuilding my PC soon so i guess this bit is easily achieved - install iTunes and point to the NAS.
    2. Then install iTunes on a 2nd computer, and when I play a song or rate a song from either computer, ensure that the information is visible from the other computer. (Basically if i rate a song on computer 2, and then log onto computer 1 at a different time, the rating made from computer 2 is visible).
    3. Have the same playlists duplicated on computer 1 and computer 2.
    4. Setup a 2nd user on the 2 computers (Family member) to access the same music folders / files as myself, so that they can rate the music according to their taste without changing the rating I've already made,
Finally, we both have our own itouch players, and want to be able to sync independently using the above.
Thanks a million in advance to anyone who knows the answer to this hopefully easy problem.

  • Multiple users on the same ODI installation?

    Hi all
is it possible to have multiple users working with the same odi installation? We have a virtualized IT infrastructure (citrix and wmware) where we can have multiple users on the same virtual instance. From our point of view, there is no licencing issue since we have a package covering literally everything.
One of the issues are the config files stored in the installation directory of odi (../bin). Is there a way to tell odi to store them in a different location, eg. the user home?
    Thanks a lot
    Benno

ODI looks in the current working directory for the configuration files, mostly you would have issues with the snps_login_work.xml and snps_login_security.xml files, but these may be common across all users. (just don't store the username/passwords for the ODI users in them).
The way ODI works, most of what are creating is stored in the repository anyway, it is only local GUI config stuff that may be stored locally.
Short answer, yes, you can, but might need to modify the config files a little to make it work.

  • Prevent multiple users from updating coherence cache data at the same time

    Hi,
I have a web application which have a huge amount of data instead of storing the data in Http Session are storing it in coherence. Now multiple groups of users can use or update the same data in coherence. There are 100's of groups with several thousand users in each group. How do I prevent multiple users from updating the cache data. Here is the scenario. User logs-in checks in coherence if the data there and gets it from coherence and displays it on the ui if not get it from backend i.e. mainframe systems and store it in coherence before displaying it on the screen. Now some other user at the same time can also perform the same function and if don't find the data in coherence can get it from backend and start saving it in coherence while the other user is also in the process of saving or updating. How do I prevent this in coherence. As have to use the same key when storing in coherence because the same data is shared across users and don't want to keep multiple copies of the same data. Is there something coherence provides out-of-the-box or what is best approach to handle this scenario.
    Thanks

    Hi,
actually I believe, that if we are speaking about multiple users each with its own HttpSession, in case of two users accessing the same session attribute in their own session, the actually used cache keys will not be the same.
On the other hand, this is probably not what you would really like, you would possibly like to share that data among sessions.
You should probably consider using either read-through caching with the CacheLoader implementor doing the expensive data retrieval (if the data to be cached can be obtained outside of an HTTP container), or side caching with using Coherence locks or entry-processors for concurrency control on the data retrieval operations for the same key (take care of retries in this case).
    Best regards,
    Robert

  • Can't print on USB port in Multiple Users mode

I'm running OS 9.2.2, and recently added a USB card along with a powered USB hub and a Brother MFC420CN Print/Fax/Scan.
All works great for me, but when my kids log in under their multiple users names, they cannot print on the USB printer. They still can on the Apple printer on the serial port.
I've given them everything I can think of access wise to allow them to use the USB printer.
    Any ideas?

You either need to give them access to the Chooser, or allow that printer to be a "System" printer, with a desktop printer Icon. If it does not have a desktop printer icon, your only choice is to allow them access to the Chooser.
You also may have to copy that printer's preference files from System Access to each individual user's preferences.
Some printers are simply too badly behaved to be used under Multiple Users, especially with Macintosh Manager, where the user preferences are stored on the server.

  • Can I setup multiple user login accounts?

    1. Like a normal macbook computer, can I setup multiple user account with password?

You cannot setup multiple user accounts like on a computer. You can set up a passcode to lock the device. Settings>General>Passcode Lock.

  • There are multiple users with the same display name

    Hi,
We have a user and when she get an item assigned to her she sees the following alert:
"There are multiple users with the same display name USERNAME and at least one of them does not have read permissions to some of the files"
Now I looked in the database and when I run the following query with the username:
     SELECT
         [ProviderDisplayName]
        ,[DisplayName]
        ,[HasDisplayName]
        ,[Domain]
        ,[AccountName]
        ,[UniqueUserId]
        ,[LastSync]
FROM [Tfs_Configuration].[dbo].[tbl_Identity] where displayname like '%USERNAME%'
Then I get 2 same usernames back, How can I get rid of one of them ? When I access TFS trough the portal I only find 1 occurence of this user.
    We use VS2013 and TFS2013 update 4
    Best regards

    Hi DSW,
    Thanks for your post.
In your query result, please check if these two users have the same Account Name. if they are two different Account Name in result, it indicate there’s two users have the same display name in your AD, please check that two users’ information in
your AD. We suggest change one user’s display name in AD.

  • How do I set up multiple users with different configurations

I have a Mac Pro that is shared by multiple users. Some edit using Avid Media Composer 6.0, and some edit using Final Cut Pro 7. Our client monitor is connected using a Matrox MX02 Mini. When I install the latest drivers for the Matrox MX02, I can use the client monitor with Media Composer, but not Final Cut Pro 7. When I back-rev the drivers to support Final Cut Pro 7, I can't use the MX02 in Media Composer.
Is there a way to set up two users -- one for Avid editing and one for Final Cut editing -- that will each load different sets of drivers?
    Thanks!

Not in one boot system. The only way I can think of doing what you want is to dual-boot - ie, either partition a single drive with two volumes, one for each configuration, or, if you can, use separate physical drives. The Matrox drivers are loaded at the system level, not the user level.
If you have a spare drive, you would just clone your system across using Carbon Copy Cloner / SuperDuper, then boot to the second system and adjust the drivers as necessary.

  • Working with multiple users and computers, but shared data

Sorry if this is posted in a poor place, I'm not sure where the best place is. This is sort of a general questions.
For a long time, my wife and I have had either one computer, or two machines but one has definitely been just a terminal. We've basically set up all of our data to be one one primary machine, and if we want to view/edit that data we have to use that machine.
We just got a new MacBook Pro and I would like to be able to use two machines as equals. Sadly, this idea of multiple computers, with two users and some shared data is really giving me difficulty. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to best manage things like:
Synchronizing portions of our contact list (We share about 50% of the combined library -- we don't have to share all though).
How to manage iPhoto so that we can each have access to the photos. As an added difficulty (or maybe this is easier?) my Wife just wants to have access to the pictures for viewing and sharing on Facebook/Picassa/etc. I am the only one who wants to edit, correct and cull our library. That said, I always edit when I first put the data on the machine, and almost never again; so it would be fine to have one (or both accounts) set up as view only for the iPhoto data.
How to manage iTunes so that we can each have access to the music. As a super awesome bonus, it would be great if we could have three libraries: His, Hers and Shared. Maybe as much as 30% of our music library is similar, the rest just gets in the way.
What is the best solution people have found for calendars? (I'm thinking two separate calendars, and we each subscribe to each others iCal feed)
Mail.app and bookmark synching is not really a problem for us.
    Two extra points:
    * One machine is portable, and the other isn't. Ideally, when the laptop is out of the house, both machines should still have reasonable access to the shared data. That is: Just dumping things in the shared folder won't work because when the laptop is out of the house we will be disconnected from the source data.
    * We just got a second iPhone. This means that both of us will be taking photos/video separately and trying to synch back to the master data store.
    * Basically, I'm trying to minimize data duplication as much as possible, and just synchronize the systems to each other.
Thanks a ton in advance. If anyone has any suggestions at all, I would love to hear them. Including "This is in the wrong forum, go ask here instead..."

So you have a desktop Mac and a laptop Mac, right? Two user accounts (and a third admin account) on each computer, right?
I profess that I haven't tried this, but here is how I would approach your problem:
Sharing Music and Photos between multiple user accounts on the same computer:
See if http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=194992 and http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=510993 provide any useful information to assist you in this endeavor.
    Sharing across multiple computers:
Turn on file sharing on the Desktop (System Preferences > Sharing). Now you can mount the Desktop as an external drive on the laptop's Desktop. Copy the music and photo folders across. Will take awhile to do the first time. Then, for future use, get a copy of the donationware CarbonCopyCloner or equivalent. You can use CCC to selectively sync specific folders from one computer to the other. There may be a hassle with digital copyright issues on music and movies, though.
    Calendars:
As you have suggested yourself, publishing yours and subscribing to hers is probably the best way to do it, on the same computer. Across computers, syncing with CCC or equivalent would probably be the way to go.

  • Problem with iTunes and multiple user accounts in Windows

I am running iTunes on a PC (Windows XP) and have multiple user accounts. When I switch between user accounts and try to open iTunes, I get a message that tells me I can't open the program because another user is using it. Is it really true that I can only have iTunes open in one user account at a time on a PC with multiple user accounts ?!? If not, what am I doing wrong?

You are right, can only have one open. You have to log out of a user before logging in to another user to use iTunes. Do not use the fast user switching ability of Windows.
