MultiValue Parameters as Optional in SSRS[Using SharePointList as DataSource]

I have four parameters in my SSRS report which uses SharePoint List as data Source. And I want to make all the four parameters as optional. i.e if the user provides one parameter value and if he/she doesn't provide any other parameter value then the report
should still execute with results filtering on the value passed by one parameter only.
Please let me know if there is any solution to achieve this in SSRS. I can't use SQL in any Case.
Thanks in advance.

Hi SQL_Query,
Per my understanding that you have four parameters and the filter will only filter based on the parameters which have choosed values and ignore the blank parameters, right?
If you don't want to use any CAML queries and your parameters are not multiple value parameters, please reference to details information below:(Here I will use two parameters for an example):
The "Available values" for all the parameters should be "none" and please specify the "Default Values" for all the parameters, select the "Allow Blank Values":
Modify the filter and use the expression as below to filter the report:
=Switch(Parameters!ProductID.Value="" or Parameters!ProductName.Value="",Fields!CarMakes.Value=Parameters!ProductID.Value or Fields!CarModel.Value=Parameters!ProductName.Value,Parameters!ProductID.Value<>"" and Parameters!ProductName.Value<>"",
Fields!CarMakes.Value=Parameters!ProductID.Value and Fields!CarModel.Value=Parameters!ProductName.Value )
If all the parameters you are using are multiple value parameters, it will hard for us to achieve not using the query.

  • SSRS reporting with sharepoint list using Distinct and Multivalue parameters

    i want create ssrs report with sharepoint list using ms-vs(2008). i want create Distinct multivalue parameters by using CAML query. There is any way we put CAML query where we use Distinct keyword and IN clause in CAML query... i hope all experts will
    understand my poor English... sorry for poor English.. plz help me

    Hi AsifMehmood,
    Per my understanding you have create an SSRS report with SharePoint list, now you don’t know to create the distinct parameters by using CAML query,  right?
    For the CAML language doesn’t have any reserved word (or tag) to set this particular filter to remove duplicate results, but we can use the custom code to do this function. I have tested on my local environment and we can do that by create one hidden parameter(Param1)
    to get all the values from the fields which will  add the filter and then create another parameter(Param2) to get the distinct values based on the Param1, we use the custom code to do the deduplication.
    Step by Steps information in below thread for your reference to create the parameters and the custom code:
    "How to get distinct values of sharepoint column using SSRS"
    Other similar thread for your reference:

    If your problem still exists, please feel free to ask and also try to provide us more details information.

  • [Forum FAQ] How to use parameter to control the Expand/Collapse drill-down options in SSRS report?

    In SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), drill-down is an action we can apply to any report item to hide and show other report items. They all are ways that we can organize and display data to help our users understand our report better. In this article,
    we are talking about how to use parameter to control the Expand/Collapse drill-down options in SSRS report.
    Consider that the report has a dataset (dsSales) with following fields: SalesTerritoryGroup, SalesTerritoryCountry, CalendarYear, SalesAmount.
    1. The report has the following group settings:
    Parent Group: SalesTerritoryGroup
     Child Group: SalesTerritoryCountry
      Child Group: CalendarYear
       Details: SalesAmount
    2. Add three parameters in the report:
    GroupExpand:
    Available Values: “Specify values”
    Label: Yes           Value: Yes
    Label: No            Value: No
    Default Values: “Specify values”
    Value: Yes
    CountryExpand:
    Available Values: “Specify values”
    Label: Yes           Value: =IIF(Parameters!GroupExpand.Value="No",Nothing,"Yes")
    Label: No            Value: No
    Default Values: “Specify values”
    Value: =IIF(Parameters!GroupExpand.Value="No","No","Yes")
    YearExpand:
    Available Values: “Specify values”
    Label: Yes
    Value: =IIF(Parameters!GroupExpand.Value="No" or Parameters!CountryExpand.Value="No",Nothing,"Yes")
    Label: No            Value: No
    Default Values: “Specify values”
    Value: =IIF(Parameters!GroupExpand.Value="No" or Parameters!CountryExpand.Value="No","No","Yes")
    3. Right click SalesTerritoryCountry icon in the Row Groups dialog box, select Group Properties.
    4. Click Visibility in the left pane. Select “Show or hide based on an expression” and type with following expression:
    =IIF(Parameters!GroupExpand.Value="Yes", False, True)
    Select “Display can be toggled by this report item” option, and select “SalesTerritoryGroup” in the drop down list.
    5. Use the same method setting CalendarYear, (Details) drill-down with following expression:
    =IIF(Parameters!CountryExpand.Value="Yes", False, True)
    =IIF(Parameters!YearExpand.Value="Yes", False, True)
    6. Click SalesTerritoryGroup text box in the tablix. Select InitialToggleState property in the Properties dialog box, and type following expression:
    =IIF(Parameters!GroupExpand.Value="Yes", True, False)
    7. Use the same method setting SalesTerritoryCountry, CalendarYear text box with following expression:
    =IIF(Parameters!CountryExpand.Value="Yes", True, False)
    =IIF(Parameters!YearExpand.Value="Yes", True, False)
    After that, when we preview the report, we can use these three parameters to expand/collapse drill-down.

  • How to access SSRS multivalue parameters by their array index value

    Hi,
    How can I refer to an SSRS multivalue parameter by its index value?  Let's say I have a list
    of 10 multivalue parameters that reference database column names.  If the user selects the
    2nd and 3rd item from the list,  I would like to build a dynamic SQL query including just
    those items.  I'd like to be able to build a string something like this:
    "SELECT "+IIF(Paramters!Columlist.value(1) <> null,Paramters!Columlist.value(1),"")
      +IIF(Paramters!Columlist.value(2) <> null,Paramters!Columlist.value(2),"")+ ETC...
    I know I can test if a value was selected this way:
     instr(Join(Parameters!ColumnList.Value,","),"aColumnName")=0
    But the column names are MDX tuples and can be quite large and I think this will not be efficient.
    Is there a way to use the array index, how best to do this?
    THanks

    Hi billywinter,
    According to your description, you want to specify the available values for an multivalued parameter with array index.
    In Reporting Services, null values is not allowed in multivalued parameters. So you needn’t to specify the query to decide whether there are null values or not.
    If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

  • How to make input parameters as optional in the function definition

    I have created a function for a data service which is at the Normalized layer and has 3 input parameters.
    This function is called at the Integration layer in which we have to pass only one parameter. But for the remaning 2 parameters it is throwing an error as we cannot pass those parameters.

    Take a look at set_custom_property:
    public static final ID SETTEXT = ID.registerProperty("SETTEXT");
    public boolean setProperty(ID pid, Object value)
        if (pid == SETTEXT)
    String text = value.toString();
    and in forms
    set_custom_property('beans.bean_item', 1, 'SETTEXT', 'some text');

  • SSRS Using Sum and = in a conditional operator

    Hi,
    Still getting to grips with SSRS so any help would be appreciated.
    My aim is to calculate a conditional field using the SSRS expression feature, the datasource is a shared dataset which i can't alter so i can't just go an alter the SQL query or anything.
    In SQL my query would be like this: SELECT COUNT(TotalHours) FROM TableName WHERE TotalHours <= 24
    Is there anyway to combined the Iff and Sum operator's to get a result like the above?
    At present all i managed to come up with is the below but obviously it's not returning the correct amount.
    =IIf(Fields!TotalHours.Value <= "24", Sum(Fields!TotalHours.Value), 0 )
    Please help!
    Edit: Please note that i'm not trying to sum a field based on a condition that relates to another column, i just need a sum of 'TotalHours' that are less than or equal to 24, please also note there is another field called category, each category needs a
    sum of the above.
    Regards,
    Marcus
    Plain_Clueless

    Hi Marcus,
    According to your description, you want to count [TotalHours] when the value of this field is less than 24, right?
    In your scenario, you could use the expression like below:
    =Sum(IIF(Fields!TotalHours.Value<=24,1,0))
    Please note don’t put this expression in the detail rows, you could refer to our test results:
    If you have any question, please feel free to ask.

  • Checking against Select-Options with "CP" using "IF value IN select_option"

    Dear experts,
    first of all: I'm sorry, if this question already should have been asked and answered!
    I tried quite a lot of search terms but didn't find anything helpful.
    We are using a statement like "IF value IN select_option" to perform comparisons after the Select-Options have been used in a SELECT statement. This logical expression fails (compared to the results of the DB-SELECT) whenever a select-option line contains the option CP (Contains Pattern). To be more specific: The case sensitivity of the LOW value doesn't seem to play a role any more. A variable with the value 'ABCD' would be positively checked against a select-option with OPTION 'CP' and LOW 'abc*', whereas this value wouldn't have been selected if the select-option had been used in a DB-SELECT.
    Does anybody know a workaround?
    Thanks in advance
    Andreas

    Dear Keshav,
    it's an own field in an own table, defined as CHAR of length 140 (lowercase allowed), reflecting to a line of remittance info of an account statement. A regular Select-Option for this field is provided in a report which works perfectly fine regarding the case sensitivity. For reasons I don't want to point out in detail we need to check a value in this field against the select-option without selecting it from the db again.
    Let's assume that a field remittance_info contains the value 'ABCD'.
    A line of the select-option table looks like this:
    select_option_table-SIGN = 'I'
    select_option_table-OPTION = 'CP'
    select_option_table-LOW = 'abc*'.
    Then an ABAP statement such as
    IF remittance_info IN select_option_table.
    * would be true !!!
    ENDIF.
    but wouldn't deliver a result in a SELECT such as
    SELECT * FROM my_table INTO TABLE my_internal_table WHERE remittance_info IN select_option_table.
    because of the differences in lower/upper case.
    regards
    Andreas

    I use OS X Lion 10.7.4.
    I also don't seem to be able to disable the Mobileme account via the system preferences option as mobileme doesn't allow access with my password.

    Have you tried to disconnect from the Internet before launching Aperture? Then the MobileMe webpage should not be shown and you should be able to access the Aperture preferences and remove the MobileMe account from the "Preferences > Web" panel.
    If this does not succeed, (Force) quit Aperture, log off and log on again, then remove the Aperture Preferences file (~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Aperture.plist)
    from the Preferences Folder in your User Library and try again to launch Aperture. See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3805 on how to remove the Preferences.

  • Multivalue Parameters

    Hello,
    I am working on a report that requires two multivalue parameters. The parameters "Date" and "Number" would be keyed in by the user (1 to 50 values can be entered for each of the parameters) and each pair of Date and Number should retrieve a record from the database. If a record is retrieved for a pair, it should be displayed, if not, only the Date and Number should be displayed for that pair with "No item found". The same goes for all the values entered.
    Accessing two multivalue parameters is getting difficult as each pair of parameters shoule be executed. Any suggestions pls?
    Thanks!
    Joseph

    I'm still not 100% sure how you are driving this report...  But assuming you don't want to have the data drive what is displayed (i.e., one line per record or group of records), then you could do the following:
    Create a formula field, and put it in the detail section (basic syntax):
    global count(50) as number
    for i = 1 to UBound({?Sequence Number})
      if {BUSINESSDATE} = {?Business Date}(i) and {SEQUENCENUMBER} = {?Sequence Number}(i) then
        count(i) = count(i) + 1  ' or sum sales, or whatever you want to show
      endif
    next i
    formula = ""
    Then, in your report footer, place three formula fields similar to:
    @Dates:
    formula = join({?Business Date}, chr(13))
    @Sequences:
    formula = join({?Sequence Number}, chr(13))
    @counts:
    global count(50) as number
    dim rtn as string
    rtn = ""
    for i = 1 to ubound({?Sequence Number})
      if count(i) = 0 then
        rtn = rtn + "Item Not Located" + chr(13)
      else
        rtn = rtn + cstr(count(i)) + chr(13)
      endif
    next i
    formula = rtn
    Mark the fields Can Grow.  This will then display all of your data as desired.
    HTH,
    Carl
