MUSIC SKIPS AFTER 9 - 10 Minutes on slideshow DVD

Have created 60 minute slideshow with 500 photos. Added music from iTunes (music entered into iTunes via purchased CD's). Everything is fine when the slideshow is tested prior to burning a DVD. Once the DVD is create, the music ALWAYS pauses or skips momentarily every 9 or 10 minutes during playback. Images remain on screen. This has happened on every DVD slideshow I have created. Would appreciate any suggestions. Many thanks.

What you have described is an issue that has been known to happen when there are more than 99 photos in the slideshow created in iDVD. When you have a large number of photos, you can avoid this problem by using iPhoto to create your slideshow. Save this slideshow as a QuickTime movie, and then import into iDVD.
I hope this helps.

  • Using music purchased from iTunes in a slideshow/DVD

I purchased some music from iTunes to use for a slideshow that I am creating. I want to burn this slideshow to a DVD. Is this possible? I read in another forum that it was not. If this is correct, is there a way to work around this issue?

Finding "a way to work around this issue" goes directly against the terms of usage for the forums in terms of discussing ways to get around copy protection methods.
I would offer that my asking for a way to "work around" the problem may not have been the best choice of terms. It is one that is frequently used in other forums when users are discussing how to solve a problem. However, my intent was not to violate either copyright laws or the terms of use of this forum. Certainly it would be very foolish indeed to ask how to do so in a discussions site operated by the same company that produces the software in question!
The DVD I am working on is for personal use, a slideshow of a family vacation. I purchased the music from iTunes to use in the DVD. I am aware that I can burn several CD's (5?) for each song I buy. I concluded, perhaps incorrectly, that this DVD would constitute one of the allowed burns.
Copyrighted music is handled differently depending on which iLife application is being used. With Garageband, it is impossible to import DRM music into the program; any editing is obviously out of the question. Yet, the same musical selection can be imported into iMovie, and it is also possible to edit it.
Perhaps my question should be: Do I have to follow any special procedure when burning a DVD that contains music purchased from iTunes? I remember seeing something about this some time ago; I have not been able to find that post. I was hoping to get the answer in this forum.

  • Music skipping after moving to new hard drive

I installed a second hard drive on my pc but now all of my music skips. Why?

It's a windows setting you can get to from Windows Explorer.
Tools > Folder Options > File Types
Find AAC in the list, and tell it to use itunes.

  • Music skips after I unlock and press home button

I'm on an iPhone 5c using iOS7. So when I play music from the Music app, and remain on this app but lock the phone using the lock screen, when I go back and press the home button to go to a different app, the music skips back to a certain point in the song. It's only started happening recently so I thought I may have accidentally changed a setting or something but there doesn't seem to be any settings for this.
    All help appreciated.
    Thanks

I also have this problem and I know I didn't change any music settings on my phone. I also have the 5C. I have noticed that it always skips back to the part when I locked the phone originally. And it still does this even if I didn't lock it while on the music app screen.

  • HT201272 I have several long classical music downloads that do not finish or skip after a minute to the next track. The iTunes store recognizes these as successful downloads.  They are not, but there is no way to complete the downloads now.  Or is there?

Using ITunes support was useless.  The support help says that they can be downloaded if I go to the store again.  But the store says that they are downloaded and will not download them. It will only allow me to delete them or more correctly "hide" them.
There are issues with downloads taken on two separate computers.
Another question is why do all of the earlier Classical downloads, made five or so year ago or more, cut the very ends of each track of Classical music short and cue up the next track too quickly?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Try deleting the problematic tune (electing to remove original file if/when prompted) and then re-downloading the file from the iTunes store.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option at the bottom of the screen of the iTunes app on your iOS device.
If the problem re-occurs, select the content which is causing a problem and use the 'Report a problem' button in Your Purchase History using your computer.

  • Purchased music skips after a few days

My iPod skips my iTunes' purchased music after a few days. When I connect my iPod to the iMac again the songs are back on my iPod but only for a couple of days.
Can some of you help me out to solve this problem?

The same thing happens to me, and unfortunately, it almost always seems to happen at the worst times (getting on a long plane flight.)
I've done a lot of research on this topic in the Apple Discussions groups, and have tried all the suggested remedies:
    (1) Re-setting ipod
    (2) Re-loading music
    (3) Updating firmware, software
Net/net, when you update your iPod, and connect to iTunes, or do any of above, it will work for a little while, and then it will just start skipping purchased music again.
I believe this must be result of defective players, or bug in some of players, as not everyone has this problem (my wife's works fine) - but based on number of comments re. this problem I see on this forum, many people do, and Apple should offer exchange.

  • HT1583 music skips after 100 slides

While creating iDVDs, the music skils (for about one second) at each 100 slide increment.  Any idea how to fix (other than keeping the slide shows under 100)?

The video DVD standards allows for 99 chapters in a slideshow and each photo is considered a chapter.  To get around that limitiation iDVD renames photo #100 back to #1 and that lets us add more than 99 photos to a slideshow.  The downside to that is what you're experiencing, a pause at slide #99, 199, etc.
Some DVD players are more affected by that transition than others.  My low end Sony DVD/VHS player is less affected than my high end Sony DVD only  player.  Go figure.
I've been able to  lessen the effect by burning at as slow a speed as possible, 1X -2X, and using top grade disks. I also follow this workflow to help ensure the best quality video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the  File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
However, there's no way to eliminate the pause entirely.

  • Iphone 4s music skipping after pausing with apple headphones

hi, recently i've noticed that when i unpause music via the controls on the earphones, it will often start skipping like a stuck cd. This only started happening two days ago,  and its really annoying, as i don't know whether it's the iphone or the headphones that are to blame. Also on other occasions the song wont start playing (despite the fact that i have unpaused it via the controls on the earphones) or it will simply skip to the next track. I have heard that this can be caused by having a particular type of file, e.g mp3 as the audio codec instead of AAC. However this is not the case here as the skjipping occurs on both mp3 tracks (that have been downloaded form amazon) and AAC files directly from the itunes mobile store. Im pretty well stumped as i don't know a lot about ios due to this being my first iphone, any suggestions will be appreciated.

Hmmm, interesting. I've always wondered why apple decided to underclock the a5 processor. Usually I'm very frugal with open applications too, like if a demanding game is running in the background I will usually close it. Well anyways I think that this Could be the correct answer!

  • Music skips, occasionally jumps backward

After the last update to 7.04 if I am listening to music on my iPhone 5 my music skips after putting my pass code in keypad to unlock the iPhone.  Sometimes is pauses for 1 to 2 seconds continues playing and sometimes it jumps back a few seconds in the song and continues playing.   I find this quite annoying.  Is anyone else having this issue?

    Yes!

  • IDVD music skips during slideshows

    hey guys
I'm on leopard and iLife 09 (also iLife 07 on another mac but has same issue)
I've read some articles that tell me the reason for music skipping on iDVD is it will only handle 99 chapters.
Can someone advise if this problem would still occur if the slideshow was made using different software OR how to get around the music skipping issue.
I am aware you can export a slideshow from iPhoto but the quality is not the same as in iDVD and iMovie simply takes far to long to create a slideshow.
    Thanks for your help!
    Sammy

The same problem has been bugging me too. Seems 99 IS the limit. If you want each slide to show for say 3 seconds then you need a piece of music that last 297 seconds for those 99 images. If your music last say 300 secs (5 minutes) the I use GarageBand and start to fade it from say 290secs and split it at 297secs and delete the last bit. Then I add another track that last for the remainder, so if you have 150 images in total you need something that will last for 150 x 3 secs and fade again if necessary. I think the trick is to multiply 99 by the length of time you want each image to show and then import music pieces into GarageBand.
You are using 5 minutes music for 150 images. That’s only 2 secs per image! Are you stuck with that time limit?
In your case, with 150 images at 4 seconds each you’d need 10 minutes in total, composed of 99x4 secs (6mins 36secs) and another piece that lasts 3mins 24secs or thereabouts, or that you fade out after that time. Then when your pieces of music are ready, save them across to iTunes (share) and import from there. Or just play the same piece of music a second time. Not ideal, but it’s the only solution I’ve been able to come up with so far.

  • Fix for AppleTV photo slide show music stopping after abut 20 minutes?

Fix for AppleTV photo slide show music stopping after abut 20 minutes?

Just ran another series of tests ... I am now convinced that AppleTV's slideshow/screensaver is broken.
Too often it will 'get stuck' on one photo for minutes then show no photo and finally move on; in fact it is doing it right now.
I don't ever remember seeing this occur before the last upgrade.

  • Music skips during slideshow

    Hi,
When I play a slideshow from within iphoto8 the music skips every 10-15 seconds. If I play the same selection in itunes it does not skip. I've tried this with many songs in the off chance that it was the one song but it does it with every song I tried. Apple just replaced my power supply thinking it was defective but it did not cure the problem. I have plenty of space on my hard drive if that matters. Any one else have this problem?

    >> Did you tried an other USB stick?<< - Yes, several
    >>Perhapst you can shorten the fade in / out of the pictures a little bit.<< - I will try that next!
    >>small buffer in the Vizio << I need it to work for all large flat screen TV's because it is going to be marketed as a big screen slideshow
The thing is that if I just play the soundtrack on the TV, it works fine with no skipping. I am wondering if my images might be too large. They are all 300 DPI JPG's and about 5,000 pixels at about 10 megabytes, and there are 276 of them for playing the video for about 40 minutes.
I could convert the mp3 to mp4a and add that format as the soundtrack.
Thanks for all of your input,
    Allen

  • Burned DVD stops or music skips at 100th chapter

I am creating a slideshow with music in iDVD. When playing the burned dvd the music skips or the dvd stops at the 100th picture. Any fix for the problem? I noticed that iDVD automatically assigns each picture its own chapter so it could be the 100th chapter that causes the problem. If so, is there any way to have more than 1 picture per chapter?
    Thanks for your help!

The 99 photos was because, as the original poster indicates, each photo is a chapter and the Video DVD standard (nothing to do with Apple, but the industry standard) is 99 chapters max. These days many players will play past 99 chapters, but many others, especially older ones, the strictly conform to the DVD standard balk when there are more than 99 chapters.
So while iDVD will now allow slide shows past 99 photos, if you want your DVD to be compatible with the most set top players, you are better off limiting your slideshow to no more than 99 photos. If you want more, then you want to create your slideshow manually in iPhoto or iMovie and place your own chapter markers keeping the number of chapters under 100.
