My airport express seems to no longer be supported by Apple. Was working fine, just blinking amber. So tried to update and reset, but update will not install with Lion? Im disgusted.
Airport express was blinking yellow. Tried to update, but my computer said update is not supported (yellow exclamation points). I have a mac pro with Lion and latest updates. So I reset express, yes that was a mistake because it was at least functioning on my stereo, now it does not function at all and shows on my wifi as "airport express", used to be labled "stereo". So it asks for an update, I download the update, but computer will not allow update to be installed. I will buy a newer one if I have to because I enjoy it's function, but I will be extremely disgusted with Apple to have to do so.
If you are using Lion...as you indicate...is it possible that you mistakenly downloaded the incorrect version of AirPort Utility?
Try the following version for Lion:
AirPort Utility 5.6 for Mac OS X Lion

Since upgrading, both our wireless printers are still visible, but OSX will not connect with them. Both work via connecting from other sources via the same wireless router (airport). What do I need to do to get my printing/scanning working again?
First thing to try is reset Printing System:
OS X Mavericks: Reset the printing system
Next would be reset the router (power off 15 secs then back on). And, 2 minutes later, reset the printers 1 by 1. -

I have an older airport express and I'd like to be able to manage it the new Aiprot utulity is not compatible and the older version of Airport Utility 5.6 is not able to be installed on Lion.
Be sure that you are attempting to install the correct version (5.6) that is designed to work on OS X Lion. You can download it directly from Apple Support here.

I deleted/changed my old apple ID (from the apple webb site) and I have changed all my Apple products onto the new ID, but they all randomly ask for a password for the old ID (which now will not work and I can't change) the biggest problem is that my icloud account will not let me in to do anything.
my knowledge of Apple is limited.We need to be clear here. Did you create a second ID, or just modify the single ID?

I have just tried to update iTunes to the latest software and now I keep getting error messages. I have uninstalled and downloaded the latest version without any success. Any advice please?
Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):

To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another install. Does it go through this time? -
Help!!!!!! My wife's iPad will not start up. I updated two nights ago to the latest IOS and today it will not do anything. It is charged and I've tried to access it through itunes to no avail.
From your text, it's difficult to determine if the problem lies with the iPad or the cable.

Airport Express seems to lose connection after a while
My main wifi connection is through an Airport Extreme. The modem is connected to it. I also have in another room an airport express that I use as a bridge for my connection and also to use AirTunes.
Since a few weeks, the Airport Express seems to lose it's connexion after some use. It's always good in the morning, and after few hours, I realize I am no longer connected to the network. The airport light is always green, I see it in my disk utility, but I don't seem to be able to go online anymore. My solution at this point is to select my neighbor's network for few seconds, when I go back on my network, it works fine for an hour or so and I have to redo the process again.
The issue seems to be only with the Airport Express because when I'm in the other end of my house close to my Airport Extreme, I never have that problem.
Any idea what could be wrong with my Airport Express? Could it be a hardware problem? I just bought it 2 months ago. Should I go to exchange it?

Strangely, though, when I use Network Diagnostics in Safari, I get green lights against Airport, Airport Settings, Network Settings, and ISP, but red lights against Internet and Server.
How can ISP be working but not Internet and Server? Also, if I pull out the the cable going into the AirPort and plug it directly into the LAN port on the MacBook, it connects to the internet fine.
Any comments/help appreciated. -
Airport Express b/g no longer working after update to Airport Utility 5.3.1
after updating to this the other day, my AE b/g no longer works - like many others on the forum, i get the flashing amber / yellow blinkie light situation. i can hard reset it and get it to initially show up in AU 5.3.1, but once i try to join it to my wireless network (i use it with my laser printer) it never takes, disappears from AU, and sits there flashing relentlessly.
seems pretty clear that it's related to the 5.3.1 update - it was working fine for nearly 2 years without any issues prior to this. i find it hard to believe it had a total failure related to this - in fact, i just finally updated yesterday after being asked to for 2 weeks, and that's when it stopped working, no question about it.
any ideas on getting it to work? i've tried everything on these forums to no avail. or am i stuck waiting on AU 5.3.2?I just solved the same issue. First I reset my whole network from scratch by hard resetting all devices (1 AEBS N and two AXg). Then I started configuring my main base station and added the other devices to the network one by one. (I have a WDS). Only after setting all the devices to channel 6, did the green light stay on.
Apparently when you configure a AX to participate in an existing WDS network and you enter the existing network name in the configuration panel of Airport Utility, it creates a separate network with the same name. In order to force it to join the existing network, make sure their Airport ID numbers are entered under the WDS tab in Airport as WDS remotes.

That is live, it's not a history of the device. The network you are connected to may have connection with an Express, somehow.

I have an Iphone 4 on the latest IOS 5 and latest 2.3 remote control app as I use Itunes 10 to manage the phone. Since version 10 of Itunes the airport express output has been degraded with a digital volume control so I refuse to use version 10 for my lossless audio. I specifically purchased the AE knowing that I would have pefect lossless digital audio to pass on to my high end music system (I understand that turning the volume to the maximum should have the same result but to me it just does not sound as good as with itunes 9). This step back with version 10 of Itunes has made me determined to stay with Itunes 9.2.1 Now I find that the upgraded version of the remote control app will not pair with or control a 9.2.1 library. Does anyone have a solution that does not involve using Itunes 10 to stream my audio under the control of the Iphone. I would dearly love to just go back to an older version of the iphone app but again how can that be done? Or better still have the option in Itunes 10 to have garanteed bit perfect output to airport devices as many people would really appreciate this as true lossless audio is essential for many serious music lovers.

Yes, if the AirPort Express is set up to create a wireless network that uses the exact same wireless network name as the other router and the same wireless network password as the other router.

I have 2 seperate airport express systems on my network, each connecting to a stereo in a different room. suddenly, the one in the living room will not stop flashing amber, but the one in the bedroom works fine. I have already tried resetting it with a pin, resetting it while plugging it in, and trying to find it in airport express setup (the setup assistant can't find it at all).
What am i doing wrong?How do I configure the AX to connect to the hub's wireless network? It will only scan one base station Airport Express at a time in the Airport Utility. I think what I am trying to do is use the hub as a router to the two AX's. Is there a specific way to set this up?
To set up the AX to join a wireless network as a "Wireless Client," using the AirPort Utility, either connect to the AX's wireless network or temporarily connect your computer directly (using an Ethernet cable) to the Ethernet port of the AX, and then, try these settings:
Launch the AirPort Utility.
Select the AX.
If not already connected to the AX's wireless network, go ahead and switch to it when prompted.
AirPort Utility > Select the AX > Manual Setup > AirPort > Wireless
Wireless Mode: Join a wireless network
Network Name: <type in the network name/SSID of the wireless network that you want to join or select it from the pop-up menu>
Wireless Security: None OR, if you are using security on your wireless network:
Wireless Security: <Select the appropriate level of security for the existing wireless network: WPA/WPA2 Personal | WPA2 Personal>
Password: <enter your wireless network security password>
Verify Password: <re-enter the same security password>
Click Update to write the new settings to the AX. -
My time capsule seemed to have given up so I have just got a net gear router, I have no problem connecting wirelessly but when I connect an Ethernet cable it says it's connected but pages will not load
Do a factory reset .. nothing will be deleted from your backups and you will be able to get access to them again.
The Factory Reset Gen1-4.
Unplug your TC. Hold in reset. and power the TC back on.. without releasing reset for about 10sec. When the status light flashes rapidly; release it.
Be Gentle! Feel the switch click on. It has a positive feel.. add no more pressure after that.
TC will reboot after a couple of minutes with default factory settings and will wipe out previous configurations.
No files are deleted on the hard disk.. No reset of the TC deletes files.. to do that you use erase from the airport utility.
