My Apple ID for the Discussions is an old and discontinued email. Does that matter? FindLaw deleted old email accounts and discontinued support.
My profile page shows a current email address. If Apple needed to send information to me, would they use the email in my profile or the original email? Is the process for updating the same as Neil pointed out in this discussion? I do not have a rescue address, nor do not know my security questions.

Why doesn't Apple mail show the content of messages in my Exchange email account?
When I open Mail and click on my exchange account the messages all show no content. I have tried deleting and adding the account, but the same thing happens--no content in the messages.
Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
If 10.7.0 or later...
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
Then when restarted, highlight that inbox & choose Rebuild from the Mailbox menu item. -

Apple in this case has to rely on what software is out there that can handle the amount of Traffic that these boards get.
This is from the Brows Option the selecting People in the box

At the Launch of the new software this was at just over 2,250,000 and has now topped 2,300,000
That is well over 50,000 people joining in just 2 weeks.
Jive are the only real players in this market.
To some extent the software is a one size fits all, much like the previous software was.
We got used to the look and the Folder type layout of the Previous software.
We ignored the foibles of where things were placed.
Things are somewhat double edged in my view.
I post mostly about iChat.
I don't like that the Leopard and Snow Leopard forums that were are now "Refine the List"/Tag led searching to read specific threads. (not to mention that returning to "Dicussions" loses the "refinement").
On the other hand those same threads and anwsers are now a lot more viewable in the OS forums than the subforums of before.
As a regular poster I use a couple of Boiler plate things for a welcome message and my Signature.
Some were made with TextExpander and included the HTML code to sttyle things slightly.
These no longer work without going to the HTML editor.
Posting link used to use the BBCodeXtra add-on to Firefox but this action is now included in the Regular and Advanced Editor.
That means I equipped myself and used things to get around shortcomings of the old software which is some cases I either don't need or need to learn the new way.
I am sure the Style will morph as we go along.

What are the pros and cons of
1) choosing to use the SAME
Apple ID for iCloud services on one side, and
purchases on the iTunes Store, App Store, and iBookstore, on the other side; or
2) to have and use two separate Apple Ids for these "two sides"?
P.S.
I have loads and loads of free podcasts in iTunes in my iMac, that are certainly more thant the 5 gigas the iCloud provides for free, so I don't want those to go to the cloud. But this is perhaps a different question...
Also need to mention that I have itunes on a mac, a pc and an iphone.
Sorry to look so silly with this question, but I don't get the "big picture".You need to create a user account for your wife (or yourself depending on who has the current user account). When syncing, each of you should sign in as a separate user, login to iTunes and then sync. I had this problem when my sister got an iPhone. When we did her initial sync, everything on my iPhone showed up on hers. Apple gave me this solution.

How does one get to use their apple id for the first time?
I registered for an Apple ID, which was successsful, but i can't seem to use it, because everytime i try to use it on iTunes it says I have never used this account before, and directs me to the review option which i select but it does the same thing all over again and I can't upgrade to the latest version, because System Preference is failing to open when I try to open the **** thing

If you want to use your exisiting Apple ID on your iPad, you need to:
1. Go to Settings>iTunes & App Store and sign out the new ID, and then sign on the old one
2. Go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and delete the iCloud account, and the sign back onto iCloud using the old ID
You still have not indindated why you are saying that using your old ID originally "didn't work". What do you mean by that? Did you get some sort of error when you tried to sign on with your exisiting Apple ID?

You will need a valid billing address in the US and be in the US when you want to buy anything from it. You can try requesting that it be added to the South African, but ultimately it's the app's developer that will have to grant Apple a licence to sell it there : http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunes.html

Apple ID for the Deployment Program and VPP is the same
I created an Apple ID for the Deployment Program and authorized the same ID for VPP. Now I learned these should be different. Is this a problem and if so, how can the VPP ID be changed?
You should be able to. The only hiccup will be that any apps that you have purchased with the older ID you will have to repurchase with the newer ID to be able to keep using them.
Though of course this actually depends on how you plan to use the IDs. For example, I had an Apple ID through iTunes a few years before I opened a .Mac/MobileMe account (what iCloud is now in case you are new to Apple). Thus, my iPhone and iPad actually have two IDs on them, one for iTunes/App Store, and one for anything associated with iCloud. I've never really had any problems assoctiated with having two IDs on one device. Usually just an extra step when I get a new device or have to restore either of them for some reason. Though I understand that this is probably not what you plan on doing, I thought I would use it as an example of what the IDs are really associted with on the devices. -
