My drive ate a dvd. it tries to eject, but nothing happens

ive been reading topics on this all day. My imac ate a dvd that I put in to burn. I can hear it makes a little repeating noise as it tries to read it, and then when it tries to eject, theres almost a popping noise at the end and it tries to read it again. my problem isnt forcing it to eject because I can easily do that. its just the actual eject doesn't do anything.

Are there any apps in the muti-tasking bar? If the app closed unexpectedly and appeared in the muti-tasking bar, end it. Double tap the home button and then hold the app until it starts to wiggle then tap the minus at the top left at the app (if you want, end all the remaining apps) try opening them now. The problem is your friend's music does not belong to you. It is owned by your friend.
I'm afraid you cannot do what you are trying to do. Restoring the iPhone is what you would have to do.
In the future, put your music on the computer and transfer it to the iPhone, not the other way.

Try a full restore. If the screen is still unresponsive after the reset then its a harsware problem.

OK, what you have is an iMac G4 17-inch USB2.0. Good work.
Unfortunately, that model is among the hardest to service at home. Getting one apart is a job of modest difficulty; reassembling it so the heat dissipation system works properly is more difficult. Many have succumbed to heat-related failures following improper reasesembly.
Did you try my suggestion of booting the computer while depressing the mouse button?
When you start the computer can you hear a short sound from the optical drive?
If you put a light fingernail pressure between the tray and the computer case, does anything move?
If you need it serviced professionally, unfortunately Apple considers that model obsolete and will not work on them. You'd need to find an independent repair shop that really knows G4 iMacs.

When the software update box opens on my mac, I click to upload it, but it never does. It just keeps acting like it trying to upload, but nothing happens. Then I have to go online and upload it from a website. This happened with 4.0, 5.0 and now 6.0.

My G4 Mirror door fails to start up. Light comes on momentarily and you can hear it trying to start, but nothing happens. Unplug and plug back and try again eventually it will start.

Might be time to replace the PRAM Battery, 4 years is close to their lifespan, far less if ever without AC power, & can cause strange startup problems...

Sending by Dropbox where, To who, to what computer? As your does not start up.
You need to take at least the OS disc to a work Mac computer and create DMG from the OS install disc then restore that DMG to USB thumb drive. Then you can boot the computer from that thumb drive and install the OS. That is if your hard drive is functioning correctly.
Then you can use the App disc in the external CD/DVD drive to load up all the included Applications that come with your version of OS X.
