MY HP desktop computer totally loses its wireless ability each day plus its unresponsive

I have HP model #HPE-150f which 8 gb of memory. In reality this computer should be a beast and be quick as heck. However its the slowest machine I have ever used. I just had it looked at by a computer expert. He scanned and cleaned everything u and didnt see anything wrong with it. First of all it constantly loses its wireless icon. Its weird I can do a search and nowhere can it be found. However usually when I restart the computer it shows up again at the bottom right of the screen. Why would this disappear all the time? Why when it is currently not to be found that when I seach wireless access it only says things about an ethernet cable and absolutely nothing about a wireless card?? Very confusing!
Second with all the memory in this computer and it being an i7 processor why is this computer so slow? Why does it hang all the time and then freeze? All we use the computer for is surfing the internet and watching tv shows?
Homestly I ask my daughter why anyone would put up with a lousy machine like this when my 4 year old Apple Imac works so fast and smooth and NEVER have any operting problems??
Come on HP there must be something wrong with this expensive paperweight!

jmbeam,
Seems like a contradiction.
Can you turn off the system, and remove the power cord?
I would like you to look inside, and verify the antenna is attached to the card.
What type of internet do you have? and what speed. Test here

I've downloaded Photoshop CC 2014 on my desktop computer. But its telling me that its a 30 day trial. I already pay monthly for Creative Cloud CC. Btw, earlier this evening I upgraded my laptop to CC 2014. Is that the problem? I thought we could have the program on two different computers, as long as they're the same user and not being used at the same time.

  • Upgraded one iPad to 8.1 about 10 days ago since then have to restart wireless hub each day to use, other iPad on previous os no problem until upgraded yesterday now have the same problem although both devices show wireless connection.

we have two iPads (ipad2 and an iPad mini). The ipad 2 was upgraded to os 8.1 about 10 days ago, since then I have to restart my wireless hub every day to use the ipad. I have however been able to use the iPad mini running on the previous os without any problem. Last night I upgraded the mini to os 8.1 and this now suffers the same problem. Both iPads display a strong wireless signal to my hub but don't want to seem to connect.  I have had BT check my broadband connection and they found no problem, whatever is causing it has happened since upgrading from 8.0.2 to 8.1

  • Can't move video and pix files back to iPod Touch from desktop computer

I moved (via drag-and-drop in Windows) video and picture files from an iPod Touch (iOS 5.1.1) to a Windows 7 desktop computer. I want to copy some of them back, but it won't let me drag-and-drop to copy them back to the iPod. How do I get the files back on the iPod? I know that the "disk mode" is not available on the Touch. Also, although the iPod shows up in iTunes on my desktop computer, these video and picture files (Quick Time Movies, JPEGs, etc.) don't show up there. So, I'm out of ideas. A related question: how do I scan the iPod using my Windows 7 desktop computer's anti-virus application (McAfee)? Normally, when I right-click on a device on the desktop computer, it offers me the ability to scan it for viruses. Not only does it not give me this option for the iPod; the iPod doesn't even show up as a hard drive; it shows up in the window as a separate "flavor" of drive. Is there a way to make Windows 7 think that the iPod Touch is just another USB-connected drive; i.e., is there a way to mimic the disk mode option that is available on other models of the iPod other than the Touch?

    - There is no way to scan the iPod for virus via a computer program. I know of no way to scan an iPod.

  • I am unable to stream Netflix to my Iphone or Apple TV, from my wireless router . . . even though I am able to watch Netflix on my WII (also wireless) and desktop computer (not wireless).

I am unable to stream Netflix to my Iphone or Apple TV, from my wireless router . . . even though I am able to watch Netflix on my WII (also wireless) and desktop computer (not wireless).
On the Iphone and Apple TV I can connect to Netflix . . . it recognizes me and my account settings . . . and I can veiw all my recent programs and show titles, descriptions, etc..  But when I select one to watch I get a message saying:
"ERROR A PROBLEM OCCURED WHILE PLAYING THIS ITEM. TRY AGAIN LATER, OR SELECT A DIFFERENT ITEM. GO TO WWW.NETFLIX.COM/SUPPORT FOR MORE INFORMATION. (139)
Netflix support say there is nothing wrong on their end . . . that it is an Apple issue.  They see the request for the show, the devices are registered . . . but it shows 0 bandwidth to the device.
My Apple TV did this when I first hooked it up a couple of weeks ago.  Then after a few days started working with Netflix, for no apparent change . . . now doesn't again for the past couple of days (I think that it auto restarted the other night after a virus scan).
Very frustrating, and driving me nuts!  Has anyone else had and been able to resolve this problem?

    Troubleshooting
Apple TV2 update one day and netflix is browsing but not launching the actual content (error 139)
Ipad2 (another ios device) forces me to update netflix if I want to use it and I get the same error 139 on it.
**** now I have two not ways not working where prior to some update it was fine.
Nintendo Wii is still working ( mind you running an ancient version of netflix )  Dusted the Wii off and gave it to the kids use.  Now they are happy again...
PC is also still working ( using some other flash client ) but that's just of interest, we're not going to be watching tv with that.
My wife's iphone 4s is still working.  Odd.. still ios but for somereason I am not forced to update the version. So basically she could mirror stream up to the apple tv with it.  Nice feature of Ios5.  Later found out it is using 1.4 version of netflix.  The most useful thing out of that is that all 3 of the devices are Ios and it was actually the iphone with the 1.4 version of netflix that still worked!
I heard from a friend who was on a different ISP he was still working so I took my appletv2 and ipad2 over to my brothers house who is on that same ISP as my friend and both started working.  So the ISP is involved too!
Brought the appletv2 and ipad2 back to my house hoping it would maybe still work.  No dice   Broken again.
Searched the appstore for a decent packet analyzer and there isn't really anything.  I was able to sniff the traffic with my PC and also on my juniper ssg5 confirmed that.  Turns out port 80 traffic is actually failing and authorization is not happening.  The other clients do not do this...
Asked a buddy from work who used to work at the ISP if he could make a call to some one who might actually know what is going on.  He came back pretty quick and said yea they are trying really hard to get the beta patch in from Bluecoat asap.
So knowing that it was actually Netflix that changed when it hit 2.0 and in my case the ISP made the adjustment it's pretty safe to say this issue is going to be ongoing unless netflix changes again the way they authorize for licenses.
So that's the summary of what went right down the troubleshooting path but I'll tell what what didn't
2 calls to Netflix (useless... waste of time... they are too quick to blame anyone but themselves)
1 call to apple support (support call was going to cost more than it cost for me to change ISPs)
2 calls to ISP (through the normal means - regular support number)
So why is this intermittantly working sometimes?  If you are lucky enough to authorize to an IP address that is not cached they voila you are going to get an authorization / a license to watch the show.  Some people report after defribulating their appletv (reseting, rebooting, dns changes, you name it) they get it working.  Over the past month we all seem to have got it working for some period of time only to lose it a day to two later.
It's now been several days since the beta patch to the bluecoat and 4 of us who have been communicating on the issue appear to be online all at the same time for those several days and that is a good sign that we might be out of the woods on the issue.
Hope this turns into something helpful for someone else out there.

  • Can't connect to the internet with my wired desktop computer or my wireless laptop!

I'm stumped? Tonight I was surfing the internet when all of a sudden I lost my internet connection from my desktop computer? I tried various solutions to fix this but nothing worked? I'm currently hooked up to a wireless router model WRT160N. Here's the clincher, I unhooked the ethernet cable from the port on the router labeled "internet" and hooked it back into my ethernet port on my desktop computer and persto  everything worked fine!! I can't connect to the internet either using my laptop!? I hooked everything back up to my router and tried accessing the internet but nothing worked? When hooked up like this I lose my internet connection on my desktop computer as well??? I'm confused??? What could be causing this??? I've just recently configured my router last Satuday with the help of a Linksys technician?? I bought my router last tuesday!?! Need help here!!!! Both my laptop and desktop computer have Windows Vista Home Premium as OS.

  • HP Photosmart 7510 occasionally loses its wireless settings

I have a HP Photosmart 7510 which occasionally loses its WPA-PSK secret and manually set IP address.
To solve the problem I have to re-enter the SSID's WPA-PSK secret and set the manual IP address (I prefer having the printer on a specific IP address).
To my knowledge the printer has not been powered down and there were no power failure - though I would expect these values to have been stored in non-volatile memory.
    Is this a known issue?
If so is there a firmware fix - currently running VEP1CN1137CR(113730)

I can assure you that it is not a router issue.  It appears to me that it is a driver compatibility with Windows OS.  After trying to get to the bottom of this since my Photosmart 7525 was new and reading just about every forum and blog, I have come to the conclusion that the issue must be related to the HP driver itself.
The issue does not seem to affect any Mac systems, and from one forum someone was able to fix it by downloading new drivers compatible with 64-bit systems (which seem to not be affected by the glitch).  But that leaves us 32-bit people stuck with the current driver which does not work.
The printer is connected with good signal to the wireless router (no matter who's router it is and what configuration is made).  The printer can be pinged from the router and any computer on the network which is not currently being affected by this issue.  However, the affected computer fails pings by either request timed out, or destination host unreachable.  Pings are successful from the affected computer to any other device on the network.  The only way to recover (at least for a few days) is to reboot the affected computer.
Also, from the display on the 7525, the network tests pass without issue.  I can also download and print content from the internet with no issues.
Please do a quick google search of this issue and you will see several THOUSAND entries of people with the same request.  This is a serious issue that people are having and everything is pointing to an HP problem (not routers, improper installation of software or drivers, etc...).  I agree with several other customers that HP should be on the hook for this fix.  I will give it another couple weeks, then back to the store for a reliable unit from another competitor (Canon, Lexmark, etc..)
Thank you in advance for escalating this issue to product engineering,

  • Should I  be able to use a Lexmark Pro 205 wireless printer from my iPad 1?  My iPad can't find the printer.  Iveinstalled the Lexprint app on iPad and downloaded the Lexmark Listener on desktop computer. Still can't print from iPad.

Should I be able to use a Lexmark Pro 205 wireless 3 in 1 printer with iPad 1?  I have installed the LexPrint app on iPad, downloaded the Lexmark Listener on desktop computer but still can't print from iPad. My iPad cannot find the printer.  But I can print from desktop without USB cable. I upgraded the system on my iPad sometime ago.  Suggestions??

Here is the list of AirPrint printers, and you particular printer is not on it.  So that means you will need to use the Lexmark app, and print through your computer.
There is a Lexmark guy that hangs around these forums who may chime in with a response as well.

  • My computer keeps losing its wireless connection

I have a second gen Airport Express connected to a DSL modem; my main computer is a Mini, late 2012 model, running Mountain Lion on 8 gb ram. On this network, I normally also connect a MacBook running Leopard, and iPad and an iPhone.
The Apple Airport Express model is not the newest, it is A1264 54 Mbps Wireless N Router (MB321LL/A). I've been using it about 2 ½ years without problems.
Just recently, however, my Mini has stopped holding on to the connection. At first, I figured it was a network issue, but I've done' some trouble shooting and find that is not the case. The network is fine when I plug ethernet direct from the modem into my computer, and I have even gone so far as to set my computer up as the wireless point of connection for the other devices, and the connection speed makes me think that the wireless card in the computer is operating just fine.
When the Airport is the wireless connection point, all the other devices have no problems, but the Mini is just awful; I have found after considerable frustration that when a page fails to load or another call to the network fails to execute, I can mouse-click the wireless symbol on the menu bar and see that the Wi-Fi is "looking for Networks," and after a brief pause with the spinning wheel animation, it finds my network in the list and turns itself on.
Forgive me, but WTH? I suspect this is something fairly simple, a setting, but what? I was all set to buy a new Airport Express, but I really don't want to if this is something fixable.
Does anyone know what's going on here?
I can tell you that the modem is set to "bridge" mode. After 10 years, the modem was replaced about a year ago, but I've had this setup for about 11 years, DSL in to a DSL modem to wireless router (always the original Apple Airport Base Station or an Airport Express, I've cooked a couple over the years).

Thanks, that may put me closer to a fix, but I'm not there yet.
I'm not sure I made it clear, what's happening is the WiFi grip on the internet hangs and then drops. I have learned that when the browser progress bar halts or a podcast download slows to a crawl, I can click the WiFi icon on the top menu and it will sometimes goose the network back to a secure connection and the task will complete; other times it drops entirely, forcing me to restart everything.
I have now ordered a new Airport Express, but won't have it until the week-end. I will then have 3 months of phone support. I was shocked to find Apple has raised the price for phone support, and while I did get a little free help yesterday, all the woman really did was get me to buy new stuff. I can't afford this. And I will bet that the new router will not solve the problem.
I am trying to use the Wireless Diagnostics app to get some idea of what is causing the connection to hang and fail. The Apple support person did not suggest this, but I am using the utilities feature to actually watch the connection struggle and then drop; I then generate a WiFi report and try to see what was happening when the failure occurred.
Sometimes these drops are temporary, and sometimes they require a modem and router re-start.
The problem is, I have no idea what these reports mean. I have tried to read the instructions, and I'm not doing very well at that. AFAICT, there is no problem with any of my settings. Other devices on the network do not lose connection the way the mini does. I don't use any location settings. so that's not applicable. I have gone over the "best practices" list and think I'm in compliance with all the recommendations. It seems odd to me that the Apple page [About Wireless Diagnostics - Apple Support] tells the user what's in the diagnostics report, but does not mention what to do with the information, how to understand it or use it.   I have been watching the performance graph, and sure enough, when the connection fails, the graph reflects the failure. It operates in the excellent range most of the time, or slips into the "good" range, but I have not seen it in the poor range, it just drops. Then the Airport Untility shows the router with a yellow triangle sign with an exclamation point in the middle.
I can post the WiFi logs if anyone can understand them.

  • My pointer keeps turning into a colorful spinning pinwheel. Mac OS X (10.5.8) using a wireless mouse and keyboard, desktop computer

My pointer keeps turning into a colorful spinning pinwheel. Mac OS X(10.5.8) using a wireless mouse and keyboard ,desktop computer.

The spinning wait cursor (or "beachball") generally means there's some problem that's causing the current app to freeze, or slowing down the current application, or that's slowing down the whole system.
Here's an overview of the spinning wait cursor.
Make a backup first, using the Disk Utility tool booted from your installation DVD to external storage.  This backup to ensure you still have access to your most current and complete data, shut this be a problem with your hardware.
Then use Utilities > Activity Monitor.app and the Utilities > Console.app tools to see what's going on, and whether there are related errors being logged.
There are some general troubleshooting articles around, too.

  • I lose my wireless internect connection on my computer everytime I sync

Everytime I sync, I lose my wireless internet connection and have to restart my computer. I don't think I am updating my phone like it should. Any ideas why this is happening?

Well, no not really. Your post is a little ambiguous.
You lose your wifi connection on the PC or the iPhone?
Why are you updating your phone? Do you mean you are just syncing across music etc?
What version of the iPhone Firmware are you using 1.1.4?
Are you using your routers latest firmware?
Are you running the latest service packs/updates for Windows Vista?

  • E3000 - can't see wireless-N 5GHz on desktop computer

    Hello:
I recently purchased an E3000 to replace my old WRT54G, and I've discovered that my desktop computer can't find the wireless-N 5GHz band network (I can connect to the wireless G 2.4ghz just fine, though the signal is extremely weak). I've currently got my E3000 setup as follows:
    5GHz Wireless Settings
     • Network Mode: Wireless-N only
     • Network Name (SSID): temporaryN
     • Channel Width: 40MHz only
     • Channel: Auto (DFS)
     • SSID Broadcast: Enabled
     • Security: WPA2 Personal
    2.4GHz Wireless Settings
     • Network Mode: Wireless-B/G only
     • Network Name (SSID): temporaryG
     • Channel Width:
     • Channel: 11
     • SSID Broadcast: Disabled
     • Security: WPA Personal
Am I missing something? Even when I manually create a connection profile for the wireless-N 5GHz with the appropriate SSID and security key (WPA2 Personal), nothing changes and I still don't see anything.
I've tried shutting down my cable modem, disconnecting it from my E3000 (shutting *it* down as well), and restarting my computer...all with no success.
Any help anyone can provide would be excellent.
    Thanks,
    Andrew

Well, then it's probably a dual band card. I would suggest you try to configure the wireless in mixed mode and 20 MHz bandwidth or even 802.11a only mode to find out whether it does pick up any signal on the 5 GHz or not. With 802.11a only and 20 MHz it should find the router. If not, you should find out whether you can find any 802.11a networks with that card. Maybe the 5 GHz antenna is loose or the 5 GHz radio is broken or something like that. This way you can find out whether the problem is with the computer or the router or in the combination of both...

  • HT4527 I set up my iphone with my laptop but now its broken is there anyway of adding new song using anpther laptop/desktop computer without erasing everything currently on my phone?

I set up my iphone with my laptop but now its broken is there anyway of adding new song using anpther laptop/desktop computer without erasing everything currently on my phone? I have no access to my old computer and the songs on it are from cds not itunes purchases
    Please help!!

    1) ensure iTunes is authorized for your iTunes store account(s)
    2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
    3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPhone but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPhone with it.
above works for purchases from the iTunes store. for everything else, check out this post by Zevoneer.

  • Use WRT110 as a wireless access point to connect desktop computer to a WRT160N network.

I am having a problem setting my WRT110 connected to a desktop computer, as an access point to a net broadcast by a WRT160N. The WRT connects to the desktop computer, but does not see the WRT169N network. A laptop with 802.11g sitting next to the desktop is able to link to the WRT160N network, although the signal is weak, but workable. Has anyone any ideas on how to use the WRT110 as as access point rather than a router. I spoke with CISCO technician level 2, and he says it can't be done. CISCO website for WRT110 describes it as three devices in one, one being a wireless access point. CISCO technician says get a WAP, but I think I should be able to use the WRT110. Help appreciated.

Linksys Wireless Routers (WRT...) are simple access points. They don't establish a connection to any other wireless device. They only allow wireless access for clients. That's the definition for an access point: to be a point of access into the LAN for clients. It is a common misconception that a "wireless access point" would always include bridging or repeating capabilities although that is a completely different mode of operation.
What you want is not an access point but a wireless repeater (WRE) or a wireless bridge (WET) or a combination. The Linksys WAPs are versatile wireless devices which can be operated as access point, repeater, and bridge.
