Do you think deleting the message off the phone would make a difference?

If you don't enter an e-mail address, it just uses SMS and MMS. iMessages (sent over the data connection instead of using your SMS messaging plan) require an e-mail address registered on the device.
There is no requirement that you activate it.

  • My iMessages are being sent from my gmail and not my phone

I recently had to deal with major software corruption on my phone and ended up having to completely wipe out my phone and start over by manually downloading all my apps and restoring from iCloud. People who are texting me with iMessage are saying my texts are coming from my gmail account instead of my phone. Sometimes it switches and some people say they have 2 different conversations going on with me, one from my phone and one from my gmail account. I don't want this to happen! Sometimes my texts are popping up on my iPad and I also don't want this to happen because my iPad is a work iPad and I don't want my personal texts appearing on my work iPad. I'm thinking that somehow the 2 have become linked since wiping out my phone and I'd like that to stop happening. I also want to figure out why my texts are sometimes being sent from my phone and sometimes from gmail. Any help?

    Hi there,
I would recommend taking a look at the article below and making sure that your phone number is selected under the "Start new messages from:" section. This wont change any of the conversations that have already been started from you email address, but it will ensure that new conversations are coming from you phone number.

  • HT1688 My phone's iMessages are being sent to a the intended addressee. However in addition to him, his father's email account just recently started receiving our texts last night. How can we stop him from receiving our texts and replying in our thread?

I've tried turning iMessage on and off, his son has deleted his iCloud account in suspiscion that that was the cause of the problem, etc.
We've been texting for months without problem. This morning his son texts me, "Good morning," and then his father replies into our thread, "Good morning to you too!" I checked my contact, and I never had his father's email account before nor was his email a part of his son's contact. Please help me to stop him reading our messages. Thank you.

You don't necessarily need to change the Apple ID for iMessage, in Settings > Messages > Received At > On each device have them uncheck any number/email that does not belong to that device

  • How can i delete the icloud account on my old phone without deleting it on my new one.

I now have an 5s and gave my mum my old 4s but when she deleted contact she didn't want,  it removed them off my phone. When I logged into my icloud on the PC the contacts had all gone from there too. Luckily they are on my daughters mac.
If I delete the icloud on the 4s will it delete everything on mine and completely delete my icloud account alltogether? How can I remove this phone from my icloud ?

Deleting the account from one device will not affect the other at all.

If you have any photo stream photos on your old phone that you want to keep you might want to save them to the camera roll, then import them to your computer (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083) before deleting the account.  The reason for this is that photo stream photos are only kept in iCloud for 30 days.  When you enable photo stream on your new phone you will only receive photo stream photos from the last 30 days as older photos are no longer in iCloud.

The sort fields should generally be empty unless you've putting in custom values to sort solo artists by their surnames. You can apply common changes to thousands of tracks at once, just don't apply the wrong change because there is no undo.
It is a good idea to backup before undertaking large scale changes. See this backup tip for a suggested approach.

  • I had to reset my phone and now my messages are being sent as my email and I cannot click on my phone number

Please help! I had to reset my phone today and after I realized my iMessages were being sent from my email.. When I go to change it it does not let me even select my phone number.. Only my email can be checked and unchecked. I have tried everything including talking to costumer support and cannot find anything that has worked! Someone please help!!

Are you going to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive>Start New Conversations From? If so, then try
    - Turning iMessage off and then back on
    - Signing out of Messages and then signing back in again - click on the Apple ID and then Sign Out, then sign your Apple ID back in again
    Cheers,

  • TS2755 I have 2 phones on my apple id acct. And when I text message that person I am getting a duplicate message to myself. How do I stop this from happening

I have 2 phones attached to my apple ID account and when I text message that person, I am getting a duplicate message sent back to me.  How do I stop this from happening?

Make 3 different iCloud accounts and use ONLY for iMessage.   That will permanently fix your issue.

  • Imessages are being sent from my email instead of my phone

When I send iMessages from my iPhone 5S or my Macbook Pro, the recipients say they're coming from my email address and not my phone. How do I rectify this so the messages all come from the iMessage and not email?

If you have no intention of using iMessage, but have used it in the past, you will have to deregister your number. Then you will have to make sure you have a texting plan on your account. If others have messaged you with iMessage, they will have to remove your contact and any messages from their devices so you are no longer registered on their devices as using iMessage. See this link from Apple. https://selfsolve.apple.com/deregister-imessage

  • Is there a way to find out where iMessages are being sent from? I've received messages from an unknown email that are offensive and considered to be harassment.

Is there a way to find out where iMessages are coming from? I've contacted security personnel at my school and I'm brig harassed. I just want it to stop.

'''Here is an update to my former response.'''
Here is a safe way to look at an email which you think is suspicious:
    * right click on the message and select 'Save As'
    * the file name will be the email subject followed by an extension of .eml
    * store it in a folder you can find easily, such as your Documents
    * using your file explorer, right click on the file name and open it with Notepad or a similar text editor (NOT Thunderbird!)
    * even though the format is not easy to read, you should be able to see who sent it to you, and also read the message text.
Since you are looking at the message in a text editor, there is no chance a link can activate something bad. I have used this method many times, and have found several spoofs of email names of my friends.

  • Why is email being sent from my secondary and not from my default account as per my settings - even when I remove the secondary email account?

I have 2 email accounts on my iPhone 4S. My secondary account is a gmail account. My primary account (not gmail) is set as my default account. Why, when I compose a new message in my primary account and then send, the email is issued from from gmail? And then why if I delete/ remove my gmail account from my iPhone and then compose a new message from my primary account (now the only account on my iPhone) it still sends from the gmail account?

No, "My Number" was not listed in my Phone menu, I had to manually type it it.  Is there a way for that number to automatically be listed in that "My Number" spot?  Would that maybe have something to do with my phone number not being listed as an option in the "Send and Receive" spot under messaging???

  • How do I change the phone number associated with my iCloud account after replacing my phone and switching carriers/getting a new phone number?

I recently replaced my lost iPhone but in the process, had to switch carriers and activate a new phone number. I backed the new phone up from iCloud which was still attached to the old number (for example, when I attempt to sync Keychains, the security code continues to be sent to the old number). I'm looking to update my iCloud account with the new phone number so I can sync my devices and any I might get in the future. Help! Please!
    Thanks

Do you not set the phone number within Apple ID

    May be wrong here:(

  • How to delete an iCloud account off an old phone

I hope this doesn't sound confusing and that you guys can help. Basically I had the iPhone 4S and when I was due for an upgrade I got the iPhone 5 and gave my old phone to my dad. I deleted all my stuff but forgot to remove my iCloud account so now when he downloads something  or creates a contact I get it on my phone and vice versa. Is there a way I can delete my iCloud off his phone without him losing any of his stuff and also without me losing my iCloud account.

One of you would need to migrate to a new account.  To, start by saving any photo stream photos you wish to keep to your camera roll (unless already there) by opening your my photo stream album, tapping Select, tapping the photos, tap the share icon (box with upward facing arrow, then tapping Save to Camera Roll.  If you are syncing notes with iCloud, you'll need to open each of your notes and email them to yourself so you can later copy and paste the text into new notes created in your new account.  Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account (which only deletes it from this device, not from iCloud; the person keeping the current account will not be effected by this), choose Keep on My iDevice and provide the password to turn off Find My iPhone.  Then sign back in with a different Apple ID to create your new account and choose Merge to upload your data.
Once you are on separate accounts, you can each go to icloud.com and delete the other person's data from your account.

  • When I delete an email on my phone it deletes it from my computer.  I have followed the instructions but it still happens.  How can I stop this?

How can I stop my emails from being deleted on my MacPro automatically when I delete them from my iphone 4?

Contact the email provider.  That sounds like normal behavior for most IMAP email accounts.
