My Ipad got a dead pixel...

Can Apple change the Ipad for me? the dead pixel is in the center of the screen... very annoying...

In my case I'm in Russia, alltough I've purchased the Ipad through an authorized reseller. Country's law regulations state that a sale of technologically advanced goods may not be replaced by the seller. Hence, the've sent me to an Apple's Service Center. It's been just a week after I've purchased the Ipad2 and the dead pixcel is in the middle of the screen.

I've got a dead pixel (white) in the middle of my Macbook-pro retina display, what to do?
Just bought it a a month ago, and it's really anoying me!

Take it back in and gently but firmly try to persuade a senior supervisor to authorize a replacement. Had it been stuck on black, would have been easier on the persuasion, but you may get lucky.

  • Got a "Dead" Pixel on my Ipad, How is Apple with these sorts of things?

Okay, I have noticed I have a dead pixel, its more of a bright spot on my screen, Larger then a pixel, its a small area, where its brighter then the rest of the image, on white backgrounds its really noticeable, like when reading a book. How is Apple with Exchanging it with a new one? I bought mine at Best Buy btw.

This is Apple's policy on computer displays. They may be the similar on the iPad. I would get it looked at. They may just exchange it, seeing you just got it.

  • Sad iPad 2 Story (Dead Pixel + Bad Case)

    Guys,
I want to share this experience so that you may not end up like me. I will try to shorten the story, please bear with me.
Just last 10/25, my iPad 2 arrived, I knew that it had arrived because I was  informed via sms by my mother who received the unit. (Delivered to the house).
Excited, I bought this case  (http://capdase.com/minisite/ipad/en/...28&c3=28&id=96),  and when I got home, with utmost care, after removing the plastic, I  immediately placed the screen protector then insert the iPad in the  case.
The next morning, I find my iPad screen a bit warmer in color... I noticed it immediately given the number of iPads I have used at the office, friends and actually this is our second iPad 2.
After a few days, I now noticed a dead pixel, long story short, I  investigated, tested, and I believe I now have a dead red "sub-pixel". This is less than a week in use.
I emailed the store where I got this (from a promo) and I reported the screen to be a bit warmer (yellowish) and the dead sub pixel, they told me to bring the unit over so I did.
They have confirmed a dead red sub-pixel (based on wikipedia and apple) after I demonstrated that a pixel is "black" on red (wallpaper) and not on blue and green. (FYI LCD's are RGB's). They told me a replacement will be ordered in a week's time. I was so happy, because I can't stand a dead subpixel that is on the middle of the screen.
Today was the 7th day and the same day where I supposedly to surrender my defective unit, to my shock, surprise, they told me the unit have dents! I can't believe what I am hearing! The iPad never left the case from the day it went in there!
For illustration purposes, this is where they saw two (2) dents.
    (approximate location)
Because of the dents, they did not replace my unit, I have no choice but to surrender the iPad so that their main office will decide if this is still fit for replacement. OR just live with it (dead pixel) which is not also a choice for me.
My question is on what occasion did my iPad got the dents... obviously the Capdase case did not do its job. Or I was sold a dead pixel dented iPad 2.
If you are planning to buy this case, DO NOT BUY IT!!! If you have this case already, sell it! Buy a new one! Preferably cases which protects the entire border.
I went home today iPad-less. Sad, frustrated, unknown what will be the fate on Monday next week, the day they will tell me congratulations, you will get a new iPad or, Sorry, we cannot accept your dead pixel ed dented iPad 2.
All this drama, in just 2 weeks and 2 days.
I hope they will still replace it next week

I don't know if there will be any iPad repair DIY gurus on this discussion site a  but in case you get no other responses, you might be able to find some help here.

  • I have the same case with you an iPad Air in dead pixel or speckle silver dust on screen.  It is been 3 months I bought in Avant Abenson in Greenbelt Makati Philippines. Today I decided to change my screen protector film but the speckle dust on the screen

Speckles dust on the screen and it cannot be removed today when I decided to change the screen protector film and noticed is not my fault it is a factory defect on screen it is either dead pixel or speckle dust on screen they are so many said and experience I have read.  So I need the replacement a new one for that dismayed screen on my iPad Air. I bought this 3 months ago in Avant Abenson at Greenbelt Makati Philippines.  I need the replacement for tomorrow I will go to the store I bought.  I love apple products but they need to replace and make go round to improve some defects and cannot be more escalate with this issue of the many of patronizing your products.  It is sometimes irritating to the eyes and seen dirt on the screen.  Thank you apple customer service to bringing up my complaints and a replacement for tomorrow's to inform the store I bought and advise them here in the Philippines to facilitate in regards to this matter.

I wanted to buy an ipad air to replace my ipad 2 but the one I wanted was (luckily) sold out.
Yesterday I tested the air from a collegue and I noticed the screen was SUBSTANTIALLY less sensitive than the screen of my ipad 2 when using my stylus.
I use Stylus R US especially for I annotate and with the air this did not work well at all... Half of the time there was no contact registered so underying certain parts of the text was a disaster...
Just working with the finger all whent OK... Just fear that another app I use a lot (notes +) will have same problem.
On the Ipad 4 also retina all goes *** smooth as on my ipad 2...
Is this a fault of a specific ipad air series? Or is this normal?? If it is I think this is truelly a huge flaw and I cannot see how not manny people using the ipad for notetaking etc did not notice this...

  • What should do if I got many dead pixels?

I just got my new iMac 24" 2.8GHz for 2 days, and I got around 18 dead pixels if my eyes are not bad. I'm not sure they are appeared because of glass or not. What should I do, should I go to Apple store immediately with my iMac, right? Do I have to make any appointments with them or not? Thanks in advance.

    Hi and welcome to Discussions,
    18 deads are too much.
I would call the Store, explain the situation and ask for an exchange of the Mac.
Making an appointment might be neccessary but they will say if or if not.

  • My new iPad has a dead pixel in the middle of the screen. Can I get it replaced?

I've heard that there is a minimum number of dead pixels before apple will replace it. Very frustrating because otherwise the screen is perfect, and it's one of those things you can't stop looking at. What can I do? I don't live near an apple store so I fear that shipping it away is the only option.
    Any help is appreciated!

Given that you can return/exchange it for any reason within the 14-day window after you bought it, you shouldn't have any problems.
Do you live near an Apple retail store? That may be your best bet. It certainly worked for me: I ordered mine online and when I noticed an air bubble embedded in the glass, I brought it to my local Apple Store and 15 minutes later walked out with a replacement. No fuss whatsoever.

  • Dead pixels and dust under screen of 4 new iPads

I own 2 iPhones and finally decided to buy an iPad, actually 2, one for myself and one for my fiancé. On launch night we purchased a 16gb black wifi model at our local Walmart. After about and hour so, we noticed the screen had 2 dead pixels. So we returned it for a refund and went to our local BestBuy today and purchased two black 16gb wifi models. They both had dead pixels or dust under the screen. So we returned to BestBuy and showed it to multiple employees and the store manager. While on my way back to the store I called the Apple support number to report the issue. The Apple guy said it was probably a bad batch.
We ended up getting 2 16gb white models. I am using one now to type this message. It's screen is flawless. Unfortunately, the other white iPad has two dead pixels. So I am returning to BestBuy in the morning to exchange the white one for another.
I didn't think it was possible to have this much bad luck with a product. I am still a huge Apple fan and will continue to purchase Apple products. It must be Samsung's quality control. At least I have one flawless iPad. If I have to pay $200 extra to get a flawless 64GB model I will.
Anyone else have any issues with the screen on the new iPad?

Well I had an issue as well with the New iPad screen. The first had dust under the screen took it back upgraded to a Verizon model at an apple store. I made  the mistake not checking it before I drove 50 miles back home. Got home same issue!!! Now i was off to apple store again to have it replaced which they did. This time I opened it in the store sure enough another one with dust or dead pixels on the screen. It  was very clear on a white background. They swapped it again now this is my fourth New iPad checked it out again and it was 100 percent perfect for now which it should be NEW.

  • Dead pixel on my iPod Touch3g 64GB (still under warranty)

i read through the manual, and googled a lot ran some color changing test which said will fix it, but still i got a dead pixel (one single dot on left side of screen, its more prominent in a black background ) will Apple change/replace/repair/refuse my iPod ?

Ok, so i called up the store today, they asked me to contact the service center, the guy from service center said that they will look into it and if its not a water damage they will replace the lcd.(would take 6days) So i want to remove my data from my iPod Touch without deleting the data from my laptop iTunes. and i will also like to unlink my Apple id from iPod touch only(not the iTunes in computer) before i give it for repair. Will restoring it with iTunes help? or is there a different process? (and does restore requires internet?)

  • Dead Pixel Agony

    Hello Peeps,
I just received T520 package today and my excitement suddenly turned to grief when I saw a bright glowing red dot on my screen. OMG... a dead pixel right out of the box! Did I just drop my hard earned grand that I have been saving for months on something that would bug me for the rest of the products life?
I quickly searched Lenovo's dead pixel policy and almost fainted when I found out the unit has to have at least 3 dead pixels to be considered for replacement noooooooo...wahhhh....boohohoho..sob
Why did they ship out a unit with dead pixel??? I'm pretty sure it was NOT missed by QA because it glows like a laser beam in the dark and a dead pixel would not develop while in transit!
I'm going to contact Lenovo post sales tomorrow and really hoping something can be done. I know some of you will consider this as another guy who got a dead pixel rant, but man, when someone spend this amount of cash, and I'm not rich, I would at least expect to receive a non-defective product. Oh Lordy, I should have trusted my instinct and buy something of this value in a brick and mortar store. Hoping for the best but this night would not be a pleasant one.
    Sigh,
    Jason
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Update #1:
So I called Lenovo After Sales and was given a Case# so I can return the unit for a full refund. That process went smoothly so props for Lenovo on that regard. Since I got a boost of confidence with Lenovo's customer service and also I really liked how the T520 keyboard feels like in my brief experience with the product, I went ahead and ordered a new one, not waiting for the refund on my other card which I calculated would take at the minimum of two weeks. Crossing my fingers that I would get a dead/stuck pixel free display this time.

  • E72 - dead pixel

i'm so upset and disappointed with nokia. it's only 1 week, and my e72 has got a dead pixel on the screen!! never have i drop the phone before. no water got to it before too. what a quality for such hi-end phone (a newly launched one too!) from the big brand nokia. my 10yrs of trust that i have towards nokia is destroyed with this dead pixel!!
i know i must send it to the service center. i know the service will be free since it's still on warranty. it's the inconvenience that matters. it's the hassle travelling to service center with all the traffic jam around klang valley. oh not to mention the waiting-time for my phone to be fixed.

All LCD Devices suffer from the risk of dead pixels...
As you've only had it a week, depending on where you live, you should have 14 days or so to return if you're not happy about it for any reason... I'd recommend returning it and getting a new one from elsewhere.

  • One Dead Pixel - Can't Take It!

    Hey all,
I got a dead pixel/or just stuck pixel, and no matter what pixel tests I put it through, the pixel cannot recover. If I got to trade it in for another iPhone 3G, (bought 3 weeks ago), can they change the color for me as well? Or no?
Everyone has the **** black one, and rather have white.

Its not the fault of the guy/gal behind the desk that a pixel failed, or that you chose the wrong color the first time around.
