Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

I assume that you don't have the installation discs, so:
    1. Reboot
    2. Hold command + s key down after you hear the chime.
    3. When you get a text prompt enter in these terminal commands to create a brand new admin account (hitting return after each line):
    (Type these commands very carefully)
    mount -uw /
    rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
    shutdown -h now
    4. You will go through the setup process again, create a new admin account, login to it and then change your existing account password or whatever else you need to do. You can delete the account you made in this process, or not.

  • HT1941 Bluetooth keyboard setup has locked up keyboard, it's looking for a wireless keyboard, none of the keys on the keyboard are functioning, I can get out of the screen, or shut down my Mac, ... anyone??

The bluetooth keyboard setup has locked my keyboard, none of the keys are functioning, holding down the power button does nothing, I don't know how I got into wireless keyboard setup, and I don't know how to get out. Anyone?

    Hi:
I wish my suggestion had gotten you further.
I do suggest you try to connect the keyboard again.  The request for a number is a step in it trying to pair.  If it gets by the number, it sometimes takes a little while to get connected.  If you are unable to get it connected and want a new one, I have been using Apple Bluetooth keyboards for years - and I like them. The one I have (the newest model) only uses two batteries and is very thin.
Speaking of batteries, if you are not already doing so, you might consider rechargeables.  I have a drawer full of them and use a 15 minute charger.  I go tired of buying batteries and rechargeables are environmentally friendly to boot. At the moment, I use 2450 mAh Energizers and a 15 minute Energizer charger (all purchased new on eBay at a very reasonable price).
I am far from an iPad "expert," although I have one.  If my suggestion below does not help, post your question in a separate thread in the iPad forum.
I had a terrible time syncing my iCal on my Mac with my iPad iCal (confusing - hopefully it makes sense).  I quit using iCloud as that added to the confusion. There is a facility to one-time sync items.  When you connect your computer to your iPad, iTunes opens.  The system begins a process (automatic backup and so on). After it finishes, you can click on "info."  At the bottom of the screen, there is an advanced section.  You can select any of the items and then force it to sync. The iCal information from your computer would be deposited on the iPad.
After all that, I do not use a Google calendar so the information may be worthless to you.
If you want to reset the iPad to factory settings, you can do that when it is connected to iTunes (one of the options).  Me being me, I try never to erase anything.

  • Anyone know how to get out of the edge program?

I dropped my old phone in the toilet and it was not time for an upgrade. Therefore, I went to the get a phone under the Edge Program. I specifically asked the rep at the store if I could go back to two year contract after I paid off the 50% of the program and he said yes. I hate this program. I only did it because I needed a phone and was not due an upgrade.  Now I understand that the only way I can get out of the Edge Program is to pay off the entire balance of the phone...which is outrageous. I no longer want to pay monthly installments. I want to pay a one time 2-year upgrade fee and start a new contract. It is my understanding my only choice is to pay off the entire edge or return the phone to Edge up. Problem is my phone has a small crack that I didn't realize was there until my son told me about it.  If you look at the phone normal you don't see it but if you look at it from an angle you can see the crack.
I only want to get out of Edge. I will have paid off 50% by January and want to go back to a normal 2-year agreement...but I do not want to return the phone although I will if I have to, that is if they will take it back with a crack.  Otherwise, I would need to pay the insurance to get a new phone and then turn it in. This still cost me money. I am contemplating just paying off the rest of the balance and then maybe it will say I can get a new two-year contract, like it does for the other phones on my account.
I have been a verizon customer way back when it was called Bell Atlantic Mobile and you would think they could do something for me since I have been a good customer all these years.  I don't want to leave because I have four other phones and a tablet with Verizon but I will if I have too. I would obviously go to AT&T.
Does anyone, maybe a verizon rep, have any options for me?

I'm not a Verizon rep, just another customer like you. EDGE is a payment plan, or Rent to Own, or a lease program if you intend to keep upgrading.  If you want off the EDGE program, you can pay off the total balance due on the phone and keep it, and then you can start a new two year contract with a different phone.
In order to return the phone at the 50% point, and be done with EDGE, the phone has to be in good working condition.  The crack means it's not in good condition, so you will be charged the full price, whether you plan to EDGE up or go contract.  Either way, you'll end up paying for the EDGE phone, over time or in a lump sum.  It was one way to get a new phone when you were not eligible for the discounted price on your previous phone, but you need to fulfill that obligation before you can get another discounted phone.
Do you want a new phone/different phone?  Look at eBay or swappa, or check with your friends who may have something you can borrow.  Or simply keep using the EDGE phone until it's paid for, then look at options at that time.

  • 2 Wireless routers, I can get out but not in

I was hoping you might be able to help me with my configuration, I've almost got it, there's just something I'm missing.  I've had a wireless G router (WRT54G) running nicely in my network for some time now, and since my wife and I both just got 802.11n capable laptops, I thought I'd like to upgrade and bought an N capable router (WRT320N.)
I would like to dedicate the N router to the laptops and use the gigabit ports for our wired computers/server downstairs.  I still have some G-only devices (PS3, Xbox, iPhone, older laptops) that I would like to connect to the old G router.  I also use my PS3 as a DLNA server so would like to be able to get to the wired server on the N router from the PS3 wireless on the G network. (I'll just use N and G router from now on, you know what I mean )
So, I pulled the G router off the network.  Configured the N router as DHCP, with an internal address of 10.1.1.1 and plugged it into the WAN port of my modem.  Plugged the G router into my laptop, and statically configured the outside interface as 10.1.1.254 and the inside interface as 192.168.1.1 and plugged its WAN port into one of the 'LAN' ports on the N router. (I left the internal addresses on the G router DHCP at 192.168.1.x, since I have some static addresses on the G network)
Back at the N router, I went into advanced routing and added an entry for 192.168.1.0 255.255.255.0 gateway 10.1.1.254 for 'LAN and Wireless'
    So far so good.
I can connect to the G and N networks just fine, and can get out to the net from both of them.  I can get from the G network from the N network just fine.  Where I am having trouble is getting from the N network to the G network.
I went back to the G router and turned off all the security settings (Block Anonymous Internet, Filter Multi, Filter Internet NAT) but just can't quite see what I'm doing wrong.
I can't even ping 192.168.1.1 from the router.
I sure would appreciate any help or suggestions!
    Thanks,
    Dan

I accidentally clicked restart with windows vista. now i cannot get out of the installation  page and no matter what i try i cannot get it to start up with macintosh. i cannot ejet the disc either.

i was going to say the exact same thing as jerry.  You can also eject the disk in that mode if you want.  It also works if you hold down the option key before you turn it on- just so you dont miss the moment.  What I say to do is power off, hold down the option key, while holding it down, power on.  When a menu pops up, you can let go of the button.  Once in the mode, select with the mouse your mac os hard drive/ boobable and then click enter or click the arrow on it. Then your fine!

  • My ipad is locked and it tells me to update my icloud but the screen is not responding to my touch?

How do I get my screen unlocked so that I can update my ipad.  The screen is not responding to my touch, instead it is telling me... " This ipad hasnt been backed up in  12 weeks. Backups happen when this ipad is plugged in, locked and connnected to wi-fi".  Does this mean that I cant use this untill it is all done backing everything up? And how do I begin to use it since it says its locked?

Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
After it boots up again, you will be able to use the iPad. You should backup the iPad like the message is telling you to do.

If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup).
If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present.
You may have to force iPad/iPod into Recovery Mode

My  IPAD Mini touch screen is not responding, it is showing a message icloudBackup but the back up is not happening and the system seems to be hanged?

Perform a "hard reset" on the device by pressing down and holding the home button and the sleep/wake button for up to 30secs. until you see a black screen with the Apple logo, then release.
Then test to see if it solved the problem.

    Hi AngusZ,
The article below may be able to help you with this issue.
Click on the link below to see more details and screenshots.
I've quoted some helpful highlights for you:
iPhone, iPad or iPod touch: Not responding or does not turn on
    Resolution
Follow the appropriate steps for the symptom you're experiencing.
If a single application is not responding or stops responding when it opens, you can force it to close
If the device is unresponsive or certain controls aren't working as expected, try restarting
To turn off the device, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears.
Slide your finger across the slider to turn off the device.
To turn on the device, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on), try resetting Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds.
If there is no video, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on
If you are using an iPad, ensure that it's connected to the 10W USB Power Adapter.
Let charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
If there is no image on the screen, press the Home button to attempt to wake the device.
If the screen displays a red battery icon, let the device to continue to charge until it turns on.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes
Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more about restoring iOS software.
If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode.
I hope this information helps ....
    Have a great day!

  • IPad screen bottom not responding

The bottom of my iPad 2 is completely dead.  about 1.5cm of the screen is not responding to touch.  Each time i want to access that part of the screen I need to flip the iPad around.  All applications, battery, etc work just fine but it is becoming annoying having to flip the iPad over and over again with some application just to press a button or type something.

First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.
Not likely that the abce will help but it is always a good first thing to try. I really think though you'll need to have you iPad checked out by a technician. Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.
