My iphone 3 speaker will not play, it is not in airplane mode,. I have rebooted it. I cannot make a call or recieve one because I cannot hear anyone unless they are on speaker, it says my ipod is stuck in headphones mode for the volume,..it isnt the headp

Please help me, and tell me if this is a hardware issue and I am required to take my phone in to the store to get a new one?

Oh wow, I forgot how narrow minded people can be. No its not the jailbreak causing it. The problem existed well before the jailbreak, and there are many other people with unjailbroken phones with the exact same audio problem. But. i removed the jailbreak,  just for.you. guess what... It's.still doing it. Now would someone be willing to help me out?  And  don't bother to.suggest restoring it . Been there done that, didn't do anything except waste my time.

  • My iPod is stuck in headphones mode

MY iPod wad playing through its speakers and then I locked it. When I went to play it again, there was not way to control the volume at all so I plugged headphones in and unplugged them. Now my iPod is stuck in "headphones" mode and won't play through the speakers. Any ideas on how to help?

    - Try cleaning ou/blowing out the headphone jack. Insert/remove the plud a dozen times or so
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
    - Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since you likely have a bad headphone jack.

  • My ipod is stuck in headphone mode

My ipod is stuck in headphone mode.  What can I do?

Hello Mom, More than likely the switch inside the headphone port is stuck open. try the see if there is a foreign object like lint or dirt in the port, if there is try to blow it out or gently remove it with a toothpick. If that is not it, most likely is not, try plugging and unplugging the headphone jack quickly several times about 12 time should do it, to unstuck the switch. Otherwise, if you believe it to not be hardware try resetting the iPod, press and hold both the power and home buttons together until the Apple logo appears (about 15 seconds) then release both buttons. if that does not work try Settings>General>Reset>Rest All Settings. If still nothing Restore from Backup or last resort Restore to New. If all fail contact your Apple store or Apple Genius Bar to have your iPod evaluated. Good luck.
One more thing... make sure you backup everything on your iPod before you restore or you will lose stuff. Cheers.

    - Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

  • Ipod touch stuck in recovery mode and will not restore. error code 3194

ipod touch stuck in recovery mode, will not restore and comes up with error code 3194, itunes is up to date, please help

Hi @rchangel - Thanks for the ideas...
Yes - it won't let you install the 32 bit version on a 64 bit machine.
I've had a cursory look at the SP1 release notes, and couldn't spot anything vital - what critical stuff do you know of in SP1?
I don't want to have to go through all the pain of setting up VM's, reinstalling iTunes, getting all my album art back in etc. (though I could, as I do have Win7 pro). I've also heard that running iTunes in Windows 7 compatibility mode might help. Can anyone confirm whether that actually works?
I think it's in Apple's gift to fix this issue, given that they say that they support Windows 7. So far I've had no feedback from a mail I sent to Apple, and the number of users reporting this problem keeps going up and up.
I want Apple to recognise that there is a problem, and then I want them to fix it.

  • My iPhone 4S will be playing music and then it will stop and go into dock connector mode. What do I do to stop this?

Hi, my iPhone 4S will be playing music or nothing and it will randomly stop! I doesn't even show the volume bar. It goes right into
dock connector mode when it's not even on a dock. It only does this when I want to play music through the iPhone speaker. I
don't know what to do or how to fix this, It started doing this when I was on 5.0.1 and I read something saying it would help
to upgrade my phone, so I went to 5.1 and nothing was fixed, sometimes it does this and than it doesn't. For me to get it back to
normal I need to hold down the Siri button and select the way I want it to play when the device button comes up and it says
" iPhone " , " iPhone Speaker " and sometime it won't even say those. Will apple give me a new phone if I take it in? I never signed up
for Apple care. I just got this phone in February 2012. PLEASE HELP ME.

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore.  Has any of this been tried?
Unless and until is has been, Apple will not do anything, beyond the basic troubleshooting listed above.

  • Speaker problem "stuck" to headphone-mode ?

Got some problems with the speaker right now.. I can't hear the person calling me.. But if I use headphones it will work.. It's like the phone is stuck to headphone-mode, or what to say, Can't hear music from spotify/youtube from the speaker, I can listen to the ringtones in the settings, But i can't listen to music / hear people calling me..
I have restarted the phone like 5 times and nothing happens,. I also tried to reset the phone..
Anyone got the same problem ?.

Check the headphone jack for debris one more time. The symptoms certainly suggest that debris is the cause. Shine a light down in there.(Be Careful)
Restore "As a New Device". The backup can put a glitch back on the phone. If that does not work, use your warranty. If you are out of warranty, restore again and unplug to test before choosing from backup or as new(sometimes corrupted data on the iphone can cause strnage behavior).
If all else fails check on price of out of warranty repair.

  • IPod Touch stuck in recovery mode and not detected in iTunes

I was trying to update my iPod Touch (currently 3.1.3), so I downloaded the 4.3.3 firmware (I didn't want to download the 4.3.5) and connected my iPod to my computer, opened iTunes and hit Shift+Restore. Then, I chose the 4.3.3 firmware and proceeded with the restore.
    However, the following appears:
    Error 1602
I pressed OK and the restore process stopped. But, my iPod is stuck in recovery mode. Every time I reboot it, the recovery mode shows up. It's also not detected in iTunes although my computer recognize it as iPod Touch Recovery Mode.
Please help me solve this. I can't use my iPod.

Error 1602: Try the following steps to resolve this error:
Ensure proper USB isolation troubleshooting has been performed, and test with a known-good cable.
Follow the steps listed for Error 1604.
This error may be resolved by disabling, deactivating, or uninstalling third-party security, antivirus, and firewall software. See steps in this article for details on troubleshooting security software.
    Above from:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694
Also, when updating/restoring an iDevice, iTunes contactact the Apple sever to verify that you have the latest iOS version.  If not, it will not allow an install if an earlier version.

  • My iphone 4s will only play music on vibrate

My Iphone 4s will only play music if it is on vibrate. When it is not on vibrate it will intermitently go in and out of the music, mostly it will not play at all. Does any know how to fix this?

Clean iPhone charging port with clean dry toothbrush. See if fixed. If not, and if there is Warranty or AppleCare make Genius reservation and take to Apple for resolution. If no coverage, clean again, very well with toothbrush and small amount of Isopropyl Alcohol.
