My iPhone 4s is completely dead.  Won't charge or turn on. Help!

My phone has been draining the battery irregularly, but just now it won't turn on or charge or anything!  iTunes won't respond either.  Help!

Did you try using the wall plug to charge?
Charge it at least 15 minutes then
Do a reset (Hold Sleep/Wake and Home buttons about 10 secs or more till Apple logo appears)

So my iPhone 5c is completely dead. it has the charging sign on it and everything. And I plug it in and its charging but it will not turn on. I cant afford to get it fixed or anything so I need a way to get it back. Please help me.

Is it stuck on the apple logo or just saying that it is charging?

  • Nano 1 gb completely dead won't charge

Nano battery ran down...tried to charge today via usb cable; apple logo appeared and disappeared lots of times then nothing. Tried to reset more than 5 times and nothing - just dead. I know usb cable works because I can charge another ipod fine. Any suggestions?

If your ipod is still in warranty contact applecare and see about getting a replacement. They won't send a new battery and expect you to install it, they would replace the whole ipod (unless of course there is accidental damage to it.)
I wouldn't advise trying to replace a nano battery on your own.

  • Iphone 4 stopped working and won't charge or turn back on.

I have had my IPhone 4 for about 5 months and today it stopped working.  It will not turn on and will not take a charge.  I assume that something has gone seriously wrong.  Has anyone had same issue?

Finally, mine is working now! what I did is I hocked it to the charger and pressed the power button and the home button at the same time for 10 seconds then it turned on and worked just fine!

  • After two days Ipad is completely dead does not charge or turn on

Purchased new ipad with retina display and was working fine til tried to turn on today and nothing. does not charge or turn on HELP!!!

If you did run the battery totally down, it can take at least half an hour after you plug it in before it shows any signs of life.
ANd in trying to recharge it, are you plugging it into the wall with its supplied charger? If you're trying via USB then it may take hours and hours before it shows any sign of charging. Most USB ports don't put out enough power to meet the iPad's power requirements.

  • My iPhone 4 is completely dead and won't charge, turn on, no signs of life!

My iPhone 4 is completely dead and won't charge, turn on, no signs of life! What to do???

Was late to work because my alarm didn't go off on my iPhone this morning! (4 w/ IOS 5)  When I woke up, I went to check my phone and it wouldn't turn on; so I plugged it in to the charger and no response.  I left it plugged in while I was getting ready...came back a shortwhile later...still no signs of life.  At that point, I held both buttons for several seconds and the apple logo appeared and the lock screen displayed shortly thereafter.  And what's odd, is that it showed that I had about 80% of battery life left.  So it seems like something else caused it to shutdown completely.  One note though...I updated to IOS 5 on Sunday...and I've used my phone ever since with no problems.  So this is the first time this has happened since the update.
In looking at a thread on another site, I found this excerpt from an alleged beta tester back in June...and it was in reference to the iPad 2 with IOS 5, but seemed plausible enough to share here:
Issue:  "Hey guys, whenever my iPad 2 is locked for a while, it wont wake from sleep.  I have to give it a hard reset.  Is anyone else having this issue?"
Response:  "I think I isolated the issue....make sure banner notifications are turned off for mail app. If the screen is locked and you get a mail it freezes up causing you to reboot. hope it gets fixed in the next beta!"
Follow-up:  "Did it help you at all? I tried recreating every way I could think of with mail and never could. I'll turn of mail notifications for the rest of the night and see what happens."
"Hey Rick, yes it helped, my iPad no longer shuts off.  I turned off mail banner notifications like Defender2010 said, and at least for now, it doesn't turn off anymore."

  • My iPhone 4 is completely dead. How do I get it on?

My iPhone 4 is completely dead. I've tried everything I can think of but it won't turn on. It had been working ok until I shut it down at night and in the morning I couldn't get it to turn back on. Is there a way I can get it back on or is it completely shot? Thanks.

It was working fine, the battery was about 75%. It completely shut down on its own (black screen), no error messages. Now I cannot get it to come back on. If I plug it into iTunes nothing show up. It acts like the battery is totally dead, but I'm sure it's not.
When I hold down the home and power buttons nothing happens.

  • My I-Phone 4S went completely dead won't turn on how do I fix this?

My I-Phone 4s went completely dead won't turn on how do I fix this?

Hi, I had the same problem with my iPhone that I got in Jan
I sent it back to the company.  The company stated that it had water damage.  When I asked for it to be repaired they then stated that it had been misused and therefor not covered by warranty and would not repair the phone.  I was wondering if any one else out there has dealt with discreprant reports from the apple repair and how to deal with them.  The battery on my phone stopped holding a charge and I watched it go dead.  Does anyone know how I can be offered the same service that was offered to me when I purchased the phone being a 1 year warranty?  I am being denied a replacement.

  • When my iphone 4s goes completely dead how long should it take to recognize the charger and begin to charge?

when my iphone 4s goes completely dead how long should it take to recongize the charger and begin to charge?

How do you know it is not charging? Do you see anything on the screen at all? Have you tried a reset? Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons until you see the Apple logo and then release. If the phone was completly dead, it may take up to 15 seconds or more for the Apple logo to appear.

  • My iphone 4S is completely dead-can not turn it on and no indication on charging.  It is two weeks old!

I installed the latest software update and the next day the iphone is completely dead.  It does not turn on or off.  Connected to the charger, there is no indication of charging.  I have had this iphone for about two weeks.

Thanks for the advice.  I just went to try the hard restart and my phone came on (without the hard restart) showing 15% for battery life.  It was plugged in overnight (maybe a bad connection), but clearly something is very strange as it was fully charged as of about 4PM yesterday.  I have had an iphone for about three years (3GS) and never experienced this before.  It now seems to be charging but there is not the usual battery symbol on the screen.  I am guessing that I should somehow reload the software update (I have already done the update last Friday).  Any suggestions (or should I venture to the Apple Store just to have it checked out)?

  • My ipod is completely dead and wont charge. What should I do?

Ipod completely dead and wont charge. I've had it plugged in for days to multiple things. never happened before. please help!

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My iphone 3gs is totally dead and not charging if I will connect to power connector too

My iphone 3gs is totally dead and not charging if I will connect to power connector too
It shows only the battery charging sign when I will coonect to power connector and press menu button. But if I will put it for whole day or night too , It is not charging.
Please tell me what I can do.
    I am so frustate.
    Please help me.
    Thanks

Are you currently plugging it into a computer? If so, try plugging it into a USB power adapter. It's possible that you're trying to charge it from a low-power USB port, and that's not enough to sustain your phone and get it charging.
If you're still unable to get it to charge, schedule a visit with your local genius bar at apple.com/retail

Apple Does Not recommend that. Please Read.

    From that article
    "Portables with built-in batteries"
Current Apple portable computer batteries are pre-calibrated and do not require the calibration procedure outlined in this article. These computers use batteries that should be replaced only by an Apple Authorized Service Provider.

Apple recommend calibrating the battery when you buy a new Macbook and then every few months, or monthly if it used on mains all the time. This, as Apple says is to keep the battery operating at maximum efficiency. When the battery discharges and shuts the macbook down, it still has reserve power for a good number of hours. There is also a logic board battery to hold various settings.
I rather think I will take Apples advice on using their equipment not yours, but I would be intrigued to discover what is it you know that Apple doesnt about its batteries?

  • Xperia SP won't charge or turn on

If reflashing has not resolved the problem then you are really only left with contacting your local Xperia Care team to arrange assessment of your device.

    RatheeshKS's solution above WORKS!!RatheeshKS wrote:
Xperia SP comes with a non removable battery. So turning off in this condition is not possible by removing battery. The volume up+power button doesnt work in Xperia SP unlike other phones. The solution is given below.  Remove the back cover of Xperia SP and look for a small yellow dot on mid bottom with “OFF” written below it. Check the image below. Now “Press & Hold Down the OFF Button, using a tip of pen or any other pointed object for around 10 seconds”. Phones vibrates and will be switched off automatically. Check image below.P.S. Don’t use very sharp objects as it may damage the OFF Button. Now phone restarts. After restarting we found that our Xperia SP got back to normal temperature and everything was fine.   We were able to charge our Xperia SP again, device was cool. I also faced the same issue and got solved with the solution given in above link.Hope it will work for you also
(except the link to how to turn the SP back on is wrong, you just hold down the power button on the side as usual) My XperiaSP was completely dead, wouldn't charge, no red led even, holding down the power button for 10 secs did nothing. However, as per RatheeshKS's post, I removed the back cover and used a ball-point pen to press down on the yellow button at the bottom (don't press too hard). After ~10 secs got three vibrations! Then held down the power button onthe side and it vibrated again and booted up. (Note battery was at 79% so phone was unplugged during these operations)

  • Ipad won't charge unless turned off

My iPad 2 won't charge unless turned off and in some cases not at all.  It does this off and on.  Typically, it'll stop charging when turned on and I can turn it off and charge it to over 40% (or so. . . .it varies) and then it will charge the rest of the way while turned on. And then, I can go through long periods --maybe a month-- where it will charge as usual (while on) but then suddenly it will stop charging while on and will only do so when off.  This back and forth has gone on for several months. Today it stopped charging even when off.  Given history, it might kick in and start charging suddenly but I fear that the battery could run out this time and I'll not be able to charge and restart it. I'm at 20%.  I am using the iPad 10W charger and I have a new one so the cord is good and it works to charge my iPhone as well.  I have also tried rebooting the system, holding down the home and start button.  Anyone have experience with this and a solution?

you can also try the universal troubleshooting step of resetting your iPad. No data is lost so don't worry.
You can reset your iPad by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears.
Try again to see if the problem persists.

  • My 4th gen iPod touch has been plugged in for hours but it won't charge or turn on

I have a 4th gen iPod touch. It has been plugged in for hours but it won't charge or turn on. I cannot restore it because it won't show up in iTunes. I have tried pressing and holding the home and/or the power key but that does not work as well. I have tried restarting Apple Mobile Support. I have updated my iTunes. I have tried EVERYTHING but it will not turn on at all. Any suggestions?

    Hi BCarolinaCopper,
This sounds like you need to have a battery replacment this can be done if you have AppleCare or you will have to pay if unable to if the fault continues please
visit a apple store genuis bar contact them via this link or https://www.apple.com/uk/retail/geniusbar/ or through the support on https://getsupport.apple.com/GetproductgroupList.action
