No it is not common.
Most have no issues.
Have you tried basics from the manual?  Restart, reset, restore?
The warranty covers defects.  If the iphone is defective, then they would replace it.

is a single crack on the front screen of an iphone 5 for verizon  covered under the one year warranty at no cost

Not unless the crack is determined to be caused by a manufacturing error.
Accidental damage is not covered under the standard one year warranty, which is a limited manufacturing warranty, not insurance.

  • IPhone 5 shuts down with over 30% battery remaining

My iphone 5 is shutting down with over 30% battery remaining. It used not to shut down with still around 2% remaining but its increasing with every day now. For the last 5 days or so it is shutting down when showing even 30% remaining. When plugged in again, the battery is all drained down. Please someone give some valuable advice.
    thanks

Sounds like a definite hardware problem. You should still be in warranty, so head over to an Apple Genius Bar and they will either repair or replace it. A replacement will be much more likely, and it's free (if in warranty).
    Good luck!

I have had my ipad2 for 9 months and the screen is cracked? Is this covered under the 1 year limited warranty?

In the extremely unlikely event that the screen is damaged due to a manufacturing defect, it would be covered under the warranty. You would have to prove that to Apple that it is a manufacturing defect and not accidental damage. You can read this to see what you replacement options are.

  • HT1349 Is the Apple Magsafe 2 Power Adapter covered under Apples one year warranty?  I cant figure out how to check the date.  The serial number is to long to enter.

I need help finding out warranty information on the Apple Magsafe 2 Power Adapter.  When I enter the serial number, it is too long for the box.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

I got this from my father.  It looks like it is an aftermarket package and not something that came with the original Mac. I will try to attach a picture of the item box and the barcode label.  The actual part number is MD506LL/A .

  • HT3302 I cracked the screen on my I pod touch. Is this covered under the one year warranty?

I have an iPod touch that was a gift this past Christmas. I cracked the screen and don't know if it can be replaced. I've been told it can be at an Apple Store. Is this true?

    1. No.
    2. Contact Apple and ask. You'll need to pay for a repair or replacement.

  • I purchased a ipod classic on 1/27/13. I now have gotten a red x when I turn it on. Is that covered under the one year warranty?

When I went to the applestore I was told that it was covered for only 90 days. What I read on the website says 1 year. The tech also did not seem to know much about the ipod classic. He was very rude and condescending.

    Hey James1964,
Sorry to hear about your experience at the store. You can leave feedback here:

To address the issue with the iPod, if you haven't already done them, I'd like to supply you with the recommended troubleshooting steps for when you see that red "X" icon on your iPod:
    Restore iPod from Disk Mode
    Disconnect iPod from your computer.
Manually put iPod into Disk Mode.
Open the latest version of iTunes and connect iPod.
    Restore iPod.
    Setup Service for iPod
If you cannot force your iPod into disk mode and restore it, then your iPod may need service. Click one of the links below to setup an iPod Service Request online or make a reservation at the Genius Bar before visiting your local Apple Retail Store.

  • My iPhone 4s randomly shut off last night and won't come back on. what do i do?

My iPhone 4s randomly turned off last night and it won't come back on.  It shut off with plenty of battery life last night, but just in case, I've had it plugged into the charger all night. Still nothing has happened. Any advice?

hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release.

  • Why is my iphone 4s turning off with battery power still left

I noticed my first iPhone 4s shutting off with 20% battery power left, 30% then 40% and not being able to turn it back on until I put it on a charger.  After it was turned on it showed 20%, 30% and 40% battery power.  I sent that one in and they sent me a new one.  Now two weeks later, paying closer attention with the new one, it has started that process all over again at 10% battery power.  Is there anything I can do to fix this or do I just send it in and get a new one?  Hoping this doesn't happen again!!!

I have exactly the same problem with my iphone 4 (6.1.2). Try this : Restart, reset, restore from backup, and then restore as new. Didnt work for me.

  • Is my 5s lagging covered on my 1 year warranty for me to get a replacement?

I had an iPhone 4, the lock button on top stuck and wasn't working. I took it to the apple store and they replaced it with a new one because it was still under the 1 year warranty. Very shortly after that I switched to an iPhone 5s which is still under warranty until November of this year. The phone lags sometimes and not others. Like the page I am on will freeze when loading or in the middle of being on a page it goes blank like I brought up a new tab(but I didn't it just wipes the page clean) and my camera shutter lags here and there too. I was wondering if these issues are covered under my 1 year warranty(I do not have the extended apple care, just the 1 year warranty that's included with the phone). And I was also wondering if since I got a replacement (when they replaced my iPhone 4) a month or so ago if I can get another replacement or not even though it's a different phone? Thanks!

  • My iPod Touch 3rd Gen is having problems with the touch screen being unresponsive, too responsive, freezing and constantly resizing. Is this a common problem? Is there a fix?

My iPod Touch (3rd Gen) is having problems with the touch screen being unresponsive, too responsive, freezing and constantly resizing. It varies between not responding when I tap the screen and acting as if I double-tap or tap and hold when I tap. Every so often it freezes for a minute or so and then comes back. The scren is constantly changing sizes too such that I often can't see most of the top status bar or other edges. This makes typing almost impossible, ruins most games and generally makes everything difficult, but otherwise the iPod is working correctly. Powering off, shutting down apps, letting it sit have not worked. This has happened once before months ago, but the issue resolved itself somehow. Is this a common problem? Is there a fix?

    Try this for the freezing

Or if they don't work put it into recovery mode
    See here

    Then restore

  • TS1362 I am having trouble playing imported cds.  The tracks keep sticking which is a bit like buffering is this a common problem and can i rectify it.

Being new to the iphone I am having trouble listening to imported cds.  The tracks keep sticking a bit like buffering.  Is this a common problem and can it be solved just by addressing a general buffering problem which I already have on youtube but have not rectified as yet.
    Thanks Kaz T

If <alanfromnewtownards> fix fails to address the issue - turn off iMessage and Facetime in Settings.  Settings\iMessage, and Settings\facetime.
    Sync by cable to iTunes.
Leave cable connected, open Settings\iCloud and ensure at least Mail is on and dsplays your Apple iD email -  then turn iMessage and Facetime back on.  Ensure that in the ISettings...\iMessage...\Facetime page that the Receive at field and Receive video calls at email address is the same address as your Apple I.D.
    Resync when finished.
If still having problems with Facetime then check that the required port is open - allowing traffic in your router.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1629
In some cases you may need to turn on Port forwarding and open the port manually to allow traffic through.  See your router documentation for details.
If having problems verifying, open iTunes store App on your pad.  at bottom of page, click on your ID and sign in. Go to your Account details (re-veryfying and answering security questions may be required to do this) - check all details are correct.
Finally right click your device icon in iTunes and select Reset warnings.  resync when finished.

  • My Airport Extreme just stopped working.  The message says ethernet cable not plugged in, but it is.  Cable modem works fine.  Is this a common problem?

My 2-year-old Airport Extreme instantly stopped working last night and is flashing the status light.  The problem description is that the ethernet cable is not plugged in... however, the ethernet cable is still plugged into the cable modem.  I checked the modem by plugging directly into my laptop... it works fine.  Is this a common problem?  Is there anything I can try other than sending it in for warranty repair?

At this point, before sending it back, I would recommend that you do the following as a minimum:
Power-down the modem, AirPort base station, and computer(s).
Disconnect the AirPort base station from the Internet broadband modem.
While all of the devices are powered-down, perform a "factory default" reset on the base station. This will get it back to its "out-of-the-box" configuration and make setting it up much easier, especially if you use the "Assist me" process within the AirPort Utility. (ref: Resetting an AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule)
After the base station resets, go ahead and power it back down.
Reconnect the AirPort base station to the Internet broadband modem. For the Extreme and Time Capsule, be sure to connect the cable to the base station's WAN (circle-of-dots) port.
Power-up the modem; wait at least 10-15 minutes to allow it adequate time to initialize.
Power-up the AirPort base station; wait at least 5-10 minutes. Note: The AirPort's status light may continue to flash amber after it has intialized. That is because, there may be some additional configuration items necessary, like setting up wireless security, before the overall setup is completed to get a green status.
    Power-up your computer(s).
In this basic configuration, the AirPort base station will broadcast an unsecured wireless network with a Network Name (SSID) of Apple Network NNNNNN. Network clients, connected to the base station either by wire or wireless, should now be able to access the Internet through the ISP's modem. Once Internet connectivity has been verified, you can use the AirPort Utility to configure the base station for wireless security and any other desired options. Please post back your results.

  • IPhone 4s shuts down with 30%+ power left...What's the problem?

Phone shuts off with 30% or more battery power.  When I try to turn on...it is requiring me to plug in.  (red battery warning) I think my phone is still under warranty.  Is this something Verizon will handle?  Do I need a replacement phone?  Frustrating!  Help?
    Thanks!

Sounds like you need to adjust the power settings on the device
