I've also spent 30$ at the apple store on screen protectors for nothing! I really don't have 220$ nor 50$ I am on a strict budget. I believe I have to pay 220 not 50 ford a phone replacement for accidental damage. I don't know what category this falls under. I really need a new phone or battery. HELP! Will I have to pay? Also my screen lighting is all topsy-tervy every I put my screen on highest it won't work I have to wait about a minute? Forgot to mention that my apps exit out by themselves all the time when Im using them.

So, have you tried a reset? Restore from backup? Restore as new? You seem to have a few problems but do not mention any action taken to resolve them. What have screen protectors to do with anything?

Hi, are you doing it through Settings or via iTunes? If doing it through Settings, try plugging it in via USB and updating with iTunes. Hope this helps.

I have the same problem. It appears that the hole for the headphone in my iPhone 4S is too large. There is no connection. I don't understand. I'm using the headphones that came with my brand new 4s and they do not fit. However, these very same (Apple) headphones fit into my iPad perfectly as well as other devices such as my old blackberry. I can't believe more people with the 4s are not having this issue. I'm sure most people use bluetooth technology for the most part, but every now and then I want to use the headphones.

TS1362 Music doesn't play all the way through

I uploaded all my music i bought to my new laptop. I got them through the purchased and redownloaded them since my other computer wont start up anymore. I started to listen to them and some will play for 30 seconds and then switch songs or play three fours of the way through. What should i do?

I have this problem too, on loads of tracks. When watched in playback via itunes, some just stop half way along the playback bar. At other times they get all the way to the 'end', but this is actually before the end of the track. I have tried re-downloading the tracks from iTunes, but it won't let me. When I play them from the previously purchased button, it is even worse, it can cut a 3 minute track down to 1 minute.
Any help would be apreciated.

Autofill doesn't fill all the way?

Hello, I have a quick question that I hope can be resolved easily. When I autofill my 2nd gen shuffle from my full music list (much more than the shuffle can actually hold), it doesn't fill up all the way. I don't get an error message. It just stops, and hitting autofill again does nothing. From there, I can only manually add songs to the playlist. Is there something I can do to fix this?

Try restoring the iPod, that does sounds like a Software issue on the iPod.

QT doesn't open all the way...can't see the video

I get a the thing to open but not all the way as a video would with at least the opening frame. I get just a narrow box that look like an audio file.

Videolan client - one of the single-most used video playback programs there is. It is open-source, goes on ANY Operating System, is free and is constantly being worked on and updated.
VLC is my fall-back to play really old and unusual file formats with. I have a few ancient videos - .mpg movies I made on my Sony Cyber-Shot camera that won't play in anything else.
If VLC cannot play a file, and it is not a proprietary format locked to a specific player (like a RealMedia file or Apple's .mov file container) it means the file is corrupt.
It's really a nifty program and it offers lots of options

Itunes 8.02 will not install all the way... will not recognize iphone

I attempted to "upgrade" to itunes 8.02 from 8.01, at first the installer would not even start installing. I uninstalled all apple software, ie: quicktime, itunes, mobile device service. Downloaded the 64bit vista version of itunes and started to install, the installer got through quick time and itunes. In fact itunes is working now and says its version 8.02, it was a little odd that all my songs and settings where still in there though (might be a new feature?) needless to say the installer stop when it said publishing information and performing the services install.
When I connect my iphone the error says: "iphone cannot be used because the required software is not installed. Run the itunes installer to remove itunes, then install the 64-bit version of itunes." Now the default folder for itunes is /program files(x86) which means it was installing it as a x86 app, when i attempted to change the folder for just the /program files folder where the normal 64bit apps go, the installer crashes on me......

you may need to intall it the way I did, it might just get it to work.

New macbook pro doesn't startup all the way anymore

I just bought my Macbook pro 13" 2.53ghz.
I was extremely excited with my new machine because it's my first mac.
But now, 5 hours after unpacking it, I'm getting frustrated.
My mb already froze 5 times and now, when I try to start is, the white/grey screen with the apple logo and the little 'waiting circle' just stays on the screen.
I had this problem earlier today, but when I rebooted my mb without other devices attached (iPod, usb drive and powercord) it worked. Now I tried the same thing with and without other devices attached and it just gives me that stupid white screen with the logo.
Does anyone knows how I can solve this problem and start working with my mb again?
PS: I am not American, so excuse me if my english is not understandable

Here are some things you could try:
1. Insert the original OS X install disc and reinstall the operating system. If the problem is a software fault, that should fix it. (Once the MBP is running again, you could use Disk Utility to run the "Repair Permissions" and "Verify Disk" routines in it. Disk Utility is in the Applications/Utilities folder.
2. If reinstalling the OS doesn't work or doesn't help, you could insert the second install disk and boot and run the hardware test program. That will tell you if there' s a hardware failure in your machine.
Good luck.
One more thing: when you are doing (1) or (2) above, be sure your MBP has the power cord attached and is plugged into line current and not just running on the battery.

Macbook pro 2011 screen doesn't dim all the way in part of the screen

This is really puzzling me so I hope someone can help me out. My Macbook Pro 13 inch (2011, Sept.) screen, when you dim it about halfway or less, shows something like a yellowish splotch in the middle of the screen, the size of around 4 quarters clustered in the middle. It was to the point where I could easily read the text on the screen even though the rest of the screen was pitch black. Now it's less pronounced (it was really bad about 5 minutes ago) but the middle of the screen is still readable even when the rest of the screen is black.
Does anyone know why this is, or why it might have gotten so obvious earlier? It was so bad that when the screen dimmed automatically there was literally this yellowish cast in the middle such that it wouldn't dim.

That's not normal, and I've not experienced this with two MBPs. I would suggest you visit your local Apple Store/Genius Lounge so that they can repair the problem. In any case, post here with your results; I'm sure fellow users would profit from the information!

You can try resetting it (by holding the on/off and home buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo - ignoring the off slider that appears first - then releasing), but I doubt that will work. If it is continuously showing the Apple logo, you'll probably have to force it into recovery mode to restore it. See http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808.

Gnome-terminal doesn't tile all the way in awesome [SOLVED]

There are always a little space left not covered by the gnome-terminal.
So does some other terminals like sakura, lilyterm.
konsole have no problem with it.
What could be the problem?

I notice this with xfce's terminal too, and I believe it has to do with the fact that the window size has to be an integer multiple of the size of a character ie. there needs to be a whole number of lines shown vertically (and characters horizontally). I'm not sure if there is a way of getting it to play nice with awesome (as I don't use it), maybe somebody else can help...

It bottoms out solidly, no problem. You just have a longer style plug. Some are shorter so it's made to be universal.
There's actually a microswitch inside the jack that has to engage to click on the external audio, so it seems logical that the insertion is limited to ensure the microswitch is actuated.
