My Iphone was recently Stolen

And I want to report it to the authorities. If I cannot access the box, and it doesn't show my serial number under "Devices" in my itunes, is there another way I can get the serial number? I have called the phone company and they gave me the IMEI, would that be enough to track my old phone? I also have a serial number on the cord used to charge the phone, would that match the phone itself?

The serial number on the charger isn't the same, and the IMEI number usually doesn't help the police much since the IMEI isn't immediately apparently and most police won't know how to check or won't bother, though it won't hurt to give that number to them.
There isn't a backup listed in your iTunes -> Devices page? If not, then unless you have the box or the receipt showing a serial number, you probably are stuck.
