My iPod classic (late 2009) keeps turning the main volume up all of sudden

I've restored it, but didn't solve the problem. Btw, It's on firmware 2.0.4

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

May try DIY due to cost
Just wondering if anyone's had this fixed how much it costs
Or if it's another problem before I order parts

I have found the solution for myself for the above.  I use a specific scripting program which is accessed by Control A. To pause it, you need to use Control B. not sure if this would work for any other application but it resolves my dilemma after hours of trying!

  • Overdrive Media Player for Ipod Classic late 2009

    Hi
I am unable to transfer from Overdrive Media Player even though I have followed the instructions. It keeps telling me it is unable to connect and that iTunesw v9.02 or newer (I have version 10) is required. I have also enabled manually manage music and videos. When I cancel the request it tells me that no portable device can be found yet it is in iTunes and as a separate drive. Any ideas please

Effectively, Apple have told you that your iPod is beyond economic repair. In other words, it will cost more than £102.44 to repair. They know that as soon as they realise that it has been water damaged, so that's why they haven't looked at it (or rather, haven't looked any further than the water indicator).
The problem is that water gets in everywhere, and the electricity from the battery causes short-circuits, which damage components, so it's often impossible to tell which bits work and which bits don't. Even more difficult is when a component works sometimes but not others. When that happens, you have an intermittent problem, that comes and goes without warning. Such an iPod would simply be unreliable and you would find it very irritating.
As soemone who has had to deal with the recent flooding in the UK, I can confirm that the water does terrible damage to electronics. In our case, the incredibly fine silt (muck) that went with the floods is almost impossible to remove from the outside of things, let alone the inside.
I think it's time to buy a new iPod.

    Thankyouuu
it looks like that when it is locked and when its unlocked it looks like this

Have you checked the volume button? It might be physically stuck. To determine whether a hardware repair is needed, you need to follow these steps:
    1. Try doing a hard reset:
Press and hold both the Home button and the Sleep/wake button simultaneously for about 15 seconds and release when the Apple logo appears.
After that: test the device to see whether the issue is solved.
    2. If the issue is not solved, you should backup the device and restore it as new.
    In that case, use: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137
NB: set up as a NEW device because a software issue will be in the backup.
If the issue persists after restoring as new, you should offer the device for service.
If you get specific error messages/codes in iTunes when updating/restoring, check this: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3694 for causes and solutions
    Good luck

    Can anyone help ?
    please?

WHow long have you left it to charge?  Have you tried resetting it after a short period of time to see if that can help jumpstart the charging process? To do this, press and hold both the Select/Center and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

Hi there, I have a problem with my iPod Classic (from 2009). Everytime I connect it to my computer (Windows), iTunes does not work anymore. Music is automatically deleted on my iPod. Any suggestions please?

Thanks, for info, iPod Classic is a slower machine compared the Nano, unfortunately, if you read these discussions, majority of the freezes involved iTunes 10. Although if might be just slow and some impatient user just disconnect the iPod ands cause more problems. ( Yes I also did that but safely by doing a iPod Hard Reset, before disconnecting).
Here is the Apple support article that may help you.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1717
or my usual solution for Windows Users.
Antivirus has a tendency to freeze iTunes sync Operation with iPod Classic, causing a timeout, which corrupt your iPod filesystem, so when iTunes can't read the iPod, it is pointing to this problem. Other causes is when your iPod hardisk is dying, or your battery is dying causing hardisk crashes.
    My suggestion.
Connect your iPod to the PC and run chkdsk, to fix any iPod diskerror, then disconnect it, after chkdsk complete.
Disconnect your PC from Internet. (just to make sure no nasties creep into your system while you syncing.
    Stop the Antivirus program
Connect your iPod to the PC, using a high speed USB 2.0 port at the back of your PC, do not use any USB Hub.
When iTunes Open up, Restore your iPod please, this is for iTunes to map correctly, to fix the corrupted filesystem.
When Restore complete, eject the iPod and reconnect again.
Sync your ipod, preferably manually Manage in small batches and disconnect after every batch, to check that all is well.
When all sync is complete, and iPod disconnected, start back your Antivirus and connect back the Internet.
    Good Luck!

  • Sound difference between an ipod classic 160gb 2009 and an ipod 80gb

    hi
iv had my ipod classic 80 gb since 2007 and just a couple of weeks ago i bought a pair of dr dre headphones solos and i tried them out on an ipod touch and the sound is much better and i was wondering if the sound would be better is i bought the newest ipod classic?

I have the Dr Dre beats headphones as well. I have the 160GB iPod Classic (2007) and I have the 64GB 3g iPod Touch. I think that the sound out of the iPod Classic is crisper and cleaner than the sound out of the iPod Touch. I did this comparison using the same settings (Equalizer was OFF) and same bit rate etc. The difference between the two machines was not great either however it was noticeable.
When you compare the two with your Dr Dre Solos are you using the same sound settings on the two iPods? Ensure that the Equalizer is either turned OFF or the same setting is used on both. The other thing is to check and see that the music that is used to compare with is using the same bit rate. In other words make sure that you comparing apples to apples.

  • TS1372 Hi i'm trying to restore my iPod classic and it says that the iPod could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1434) what can i do to fix this? Thanks

Hi i'm trying to restore my iPod classic and it says that the iPod could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1434) what can i do to fix this? Thanks

Error 1015: This error is typically caused by attempts to downgrade the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch's software. This can occur when you attempt to restore using an older .ipsw file. Downgrading to a previous version is not supported. To resolve this issue, attempt to restore with the latest iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch software available from Apple. This error can also occur when an unauthorized modification of the iOS has occurred and you are now trying to restore to an authorized, default state.

  • So randomly my ipod crashed and when i turned the ipod on again it was all white and blurred. Part of the screen is up to speed but the other half is slow. Already tried turning it completely off and restoring it on the computer

So randomly my ipod crashed and when i turned the ipod on again it was all white and blurred. Part of the screen is up to speed but the other half is slow. Already tried turning it completely off and restoring it on the computer

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  Also, if you have IOS-7, read this.
