  • Firfox 4 - can we not save TABS when closing?? I just lost everything!

I installed Firefox 4, had several TABs open before the upgrade. When Firefox 4 opened I had all the TABs. When I wanted to close Firefox there was no SAVE button, so I lost everything.
Did a system restore and now when I click the Firefox icon nothing happens...cannot open Firefox at all.
    Thanks Mozilla....

One of the changes in Firefox 4: '''''by default''''' Firefox 4 does not display the warning message when closing multiple tabs, but it can be turned back on by changing some preferences. ''<u>Note: This was a decision by the developers. On this forum, we are all '''uncompensated volunteers''' here to help other users. The developes/employees of Mozilla/Firefox rarely, if ever visit here.</u>''
#Type '''''about:config''''' in the URL/Location/Address bar and press the Enter key
#Accept the warning message (promise to be careful)
    #The preferences page/list will open
    #Filter = '''''browser.tabs.warnOnClose'''''
#If its value is set to false, double-click on it (in the lower panel) to toggle its value to true
#Repeat steps 4 and 5 for these following 3 preferences also:
    #*'''''browser.warnOnQuit'''''
    #*'''''browser.warnOnRestart'''''
    #*'''''browser.showQuitWarning'''''

  • I just lost everything for no visible reason. Help?

I have the latest iTunes version and always keep it updated. My computer has not crashed. It has not been improperly shut down. It is no different today than it was yesterday. I simply started it back up today, opened iTunes and discovered that everything is gone. All my music is still on my harddrive. When I go to Edit>Preferences, my library is still set to the same folder it was set to yesterday and yet iTunes has developed amnesia and needs all of it re-added. Why is this?
I'm particularly ****** about this because I spent WEEKS organizing my library in iTunes because I'm a stickler for that sort of thing. I have nearly 5,000 albums that I've ripped into digital format on this thing and I went through and rated them and organized artists according to countries/states/provinces/etc. I was completely stoked about this because I'm a music nerd.
Now all of that is completely gone for no visible reason whatsoever. I know I'm screwed and have to start over, but I want to know *** happened so starting over isn't a complete waste of time. If iTunes were a person, I'd break its jaw right about now. Twice.

    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping.  Note that in iTunes 11 an "empty" library may show your past purchases with links to stream or download them.
In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
Alternatively, depending on exactly when and why the library went missing, there may be a more recent .tmp file in the main iTunes folder that can be renamed as iTunes Library.itl to restore the library to a recent state.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
I've noticed more of these missing library posts of late and a common factor since I started asking is AVG Anti-Virus. It seems it might be at least part of the reason why the library file disappears. Try excluding the iTunes folder from any real-time scanning process.

  • I think I just lost everything...

I accidentally unplugged my external harddrive while i was working on a project. I immediately plugged it back in and the project seemed to be ok. I closed the project and re-opened it and was met with this message:
The file "__" can not be found {or something like that} and I could click OK or ignore all. There were many.
Now my project is blank, and everything I had done lies in the trash. Is there any way to bring it back the way it was? I had been working on it and saving it just fine.

David is referring to the backup file iMovie stores inside the project. Here a description of how you can (hopefully) recover the project:

  • My ipod just lost all videos and music what happened

    help please

    - You can try a reset:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
But I do not think it will work.
    - Why not just sync then again from your computer?
    - If they are not on your computer, and they are iTunes' purchases thiswill work if you are in the USA with the latest iTunes:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    - If they were taken by your camera, would they be in your iPod backup on your computer?  If yes, then restore from backup.  Just make sure that iTunes is set to NOT automatically sync when connected since when you connect, the iPod gets synced and that includes a backup and erases past backups.

  • 30GB IPOD VID- LOST EVERYTHING AND WON'T SYNC

Been using my ipod fine, no probs etc all of a sudden I've plugged it into pc and itkeeps coming up ''cannott sync ipod - unknown error 48''. I unplugged it and EVERYTHING has gone completley. When I've tried syncing again it says that there isnt enough space left and the data shows orange line of up to 24gb but there is absolutley nothing on ipod and nothing showing up when I click on the music summary for ipod.

    Hi Ilanila,
I had a similar problem and I found that it was because I was not using the orignial cable that came with the device. I'd bought a cheaper cable as a backup and it didn't work well, though it did charge. I'd say take yor device back to store where you bought it or an Apple store and have them try it out with a cable made by Apple.
    Hope this helps :-)

  • Installed iTunes 7 recently; now my iPod has lost everything...Panic!

Is there any way to get back my iPOD content? I was able to reload all my music but I have a large list of Podcasts with content unread - it is GONE except for a few new posts this weekend. (It was all there yesterday.) Should I uninstall itunes 7 and go back to itunes 6? Is my content gone forever and I'll have to resubscribe to a million podcasts to get at least some of it back? Thanks anyone - I am really in a panic!

    Hi Peggie,
    yes, you understood correctly.
You're iPod contains all of the songs/pictures like on your local Mac HD.
But beware: When connecting your iPod, your Mac will ask if you want to synch with iTunes.
Deny it, but keep your iPod connected.
(If you select yes, your iPod content will be overwritten by the iTunes Library, which is empty, so be carefull!)
Start then Senuti and use the option to copy all files on your iPod back to your Mac (iTunes Library).
Everything step-by-step should be explained on the developers homepage or in the readme file when downloading the application.
    Hope that helps,
    Cheers

  • Urgent - I think I just lost everything on my MacBook Pro. Hard drive won't mount and booting up shows "no" symbol

My MacBook Pro (13" mid 2010, Yosemite) doesn't feel like booting up. It gives me the no symbol after the progress bar is about 1/4 of the way through.
Additionally, it won't mount in the Recovery HD. It shows up as disk0s6 and clicking Mount does nothing. Can't seem to mount it in the Terminal either.
The disk partition is encrypted, so unfortunately I can't pull the hard drive out of my MBP and pull the stuff off it with my PC.
I tried First Aid - "no problems found" (such LIES!)
    I tried PRAM - didn't work
I tried Verbose Mode - went fine for the first minute, then hung for a while before returning to the "No" screen and in the bottom right corner "Still waiting for root drive".
    I tried SMC - didn't work
Most recently I did install rEFInd - which is a boot manager. I was afraid it screwed up the EFI partition -seemingly not, as it will boot to Recovery and external drives.
The data still seems to be there, but the OS is having trouble accessing it.
Do you know what would be causing this? I really need that data back :/

It appears I can unlock the partition, using diskutil via the Terminal (diskutil coreStorage unlockVolume <UUID> -passphrase <passphrase>).
However the volume doesn't have a UUID. It lists the partition type as "FFFFFFFF-FFFF-FFFF-FFFF-FFFFFFFFFFFF" (which is a UUID) but using that doesn't work.
Additionally when I use diskutil coreStorage list, it comes up with nothing. I'm at a loss here, the partition doesn't even know it's own UUID or that it's encrypted. It seems quite damaged to me but I don't have the slightest idea why, as I CAN boot to it and enter the password but it will stop at the "no" symbol part of the way along.

  • Just lost everything after activation completed

After the 2.0 was finally! activated on my phone, all my info, messages, contacts is gone... Any suggestions?

I tried restoring and it only brought back pictures and music. No text messages or old notes. In addition when you select to restore it asks you if you want to back up the info from the current phone. I am assuming the answer is no, since currently my phone has no info. If you select that option, the restore function does not work. However, I do have a info backed up in itunes under options. Anyway I can retrieve that info?

  • HT4972 Did I just lose everything on my IPAD for the last year because it said to update it, not giving an option to back it up first? Its updating with ITunes now but under the RESTORE option.  There was no way out of this.

My IPAD2 had a pop up message that an update is available, to close or click on details, so I clicked on details. It took me to an upgrade box, no back up options. I clicked to upgrade it.  It downloaded for awhile, then turned off, and when it turned back on, it directed me to plug into my ITUNES with the USB adapter, which I did.  When ITunes came up, it said I had to restore it before I could use ITUnes.  Again, no other options.  I am worried that I just lost everything on my IPAD2 for the last year, apps, photos, documents, settings, email, etc.  It is still downloading after 30 minutes.  Is everything gone and truly back to factory settings?  If so there was no warning for this at all, I'll never get everything back.

I'm not sure what happned either but If you are doing this via iTunes, iTunes should have backed up the iPad first. It can take a good bit of time when you update with iTunes on your computer because iTunes downloads and installs the entire iOS all over again. If you are running iOS 5 on the iPad, and you will be now, you can update OTA via WiFi in the future and the process takes far less time since you will only be downloading an incremental update.
If you are syncing on a regular basis with iTunes, you should have a recent backup. In the worst case scenario, you should be able to restore from the backup. And as stated aboce, you can download all apps again and virtually all purchased content from iTunes (if you live in the U.S.) and you can always sync your iTunes library back to the iPad.
Let the update finish and see where you are then. Come back if you need help.

  • Lost EVERYTHING that was backed up...

My home button broke on my iPhone, so had to take it in to get fixed.
Well, they couldn't fix it, so they gave me a new one.
I had everything backed up on iTunes just in case.
I come home, plug it in & it gets about 75% done & freezes!
I exited iTunes in hopes of starting over.. Well, everything was lost & it said my backup was complete.
I had multiple games & apps on my phone that I paid for and/or worked my butt off to do stuff on & I've just lost everything.
Is there anyway to find all my backup sessions so I can fix this?

I lost everything at one point as well as my iTunes only seemed to 'backup' two apps.
Once I got the phone working I had to re-download every app I had. Once I had them again I checked some of them out and for whatever reason, every single app still had all the settings/scores etc that they had before I lost them.
Was pretty annoying having to find every single app again but once I had them all it was great to find out they were exactly as I had last used them. Hope it works the same for you.
    Good luck

  • I can't back up my phone, they ask me to delete the back up, but I don't want to because I lost everything after updating the iTunes, How can I get back the back up?

Everytime I try backing up my phone, it says there's something wrong and wants me to delete the back up...But I don't want to delte the back up because I just lost everything after updating the iTunes, Is there any way I could get back everything from the back up?

Thank you for answering my question. If I reinstall itune, is it mean that I need to install music, apps, video...everything in itune again? also intall everything in my iphone again?
