look, just because you like apple and they hate jailbreakers doesnt mean that the answer to every problem is "go buy a new one, go buy a new one" some people come on this site for help.
I really don't care what anyone does with their Apple stuff. It's theirs to do with as they please, including jailbreaking or smashing them with a brick. It makes no difference to me, or their iPods for that matter.
In either case the answer is the same: "Go buy a new one".

Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for this price. Apple does not fix your iPod so make sure you back the iPod up and have all the synced media in your iTunes library.

  • IPod Touch hangs / selects controls when my finger is above the screen 5mm

    Hi
    16gb touch
Playing songs - some controls fail to respond ie touching the volume slider is erratic. Sometimes playing videos or songs the ipod hangs and no amount of tapping the screen helps. I need to turn off and then on again.
Also sometimes the Ipod is sensitive and controls are selected when my finger is slightly above the screen. They all seem to light up and this eventually leads to a hanging ipod.
    Any help would be great.

    Ok well heres my opinion:
Its very hard to tell what is "normal" with new tech. Just because somthing is not what you expected doesn't mean there is a hardware/software problem. Im not saying somthing isnt wrong with your iPod however. There is still the chance that it IS a problem with software/hardware. What I would suggest is that you check out a iPod touch at an apple store near you or try out someone elses and see if it is working differently than yours is. Sometimes it more of just somthing you have to get used to rather than a problem.
Most things on the forums such as dead pixels, syncing problems, battery problems, are things that are very easy to say there is definately somthing wrong the ipod itself. But your problem with sensitivity issues may just be that your not quite used to the controls yet.
    Just my opinion.

  • IPod Touch Self Selects Menu Items Without Touching Screen - 2nd Gen

With my iPod Touch sitting flat and motionless on a desk, without even touching it, menu items on the screen are self selecting, as if a ghost were touching the screen and selecting the item. It happens on the lower left portion of the screen on whatever screen is currently displayed. It will continue to select whatever item is in that area of the screen, advancing, or going back, until nothing is in that area of the screen to be selected. This "self Selection" happens at various times, from 1 second to a minute, from when the screen is displayed. Usually at about 5-10 second intervals, but it varies.
Here is what I have done thus far in attempts to "fix" the problem. None of them have worked and the problem still remains.
    - Restored the iPod from within iTunes (twice)
    - Complete Reset/Erase of the Touch on the unit itself (twice)
    - Ensured the battery was fully charged
    - Synced it with two entirely separate iTunes Libraries on 2 different computers
    - Cleaned the screen VERY well to ensure that no film or residue was on it (it is squeaky clean)
    - Slightly tried to flexed (very gently) the Touch to see if it would change this from happening
    - The shake feature is not the issue (turned off and not touching the iPod Touch)
    - Searched the web pretty thoroughly for answers
    Any thoughts...?

    You have the "Halloween Syndrome!!"
Good news though, it should clear up when Halloween is over with.
Seriously, it sounds like your screen digitizer needs replacing. Contact a third-party repair service. It will be cheaper to fix that going through Apple.

  • IPod 4G keeps crashing, freezing and shutting down randomly

I think since the IOS7 update, my Ipod keeps on skipping songs, freezing on apps, crashing on apps and sometimes
shutting down randomly. I have tried deleting from multitask, and shutting down (which only works for like 10 mins).
How can I fix this? And repair is too expensive.

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Someone Else Controlling My IPOD Touch?

I used WiFi connection where I was staying on a recent holiday and after which during the holiday it was as if whilst unlocked, my ipod touch was being controlled by someone else?! At first I thought the screen was dirty or something and actually making random touch screen selections however a thorough clean and removal of screen protector provided no change. When observed it did appear to be more than random selections when observed as options menus where opened and applications where being utilized (obviously I stopped any changes being made). Is it possible the device was hacked ad someone else controlling my ipod?
Doesn't seem to be occurring now home however interested in thoughts?
    Thank you

If you jailbroke it, then anyone with knowledge of unix could control the iPod remotely.
Access the filesystem, but not "control" it in the way the OP is seeing. In addition to being jailbroken, it would also have to have SSH installed, be on the same network as the hacker, the hacker would have to know the password (and that its an iPod touch device), and even then, it wouldn't allow the hacker to 'press' random icons on the screen, as the OP is seeing. The hacker would still need physical access to the device to perform some of the steps involved in getting remote access.

  • HT201269 How can I unlock the password of my iPod touch without having to lose data?

How can I unlock the password of my iPod touch without having to lose data?
You see, I'm trying to transfer the data from my iPod touch to my iPhone and I can't unlock the password of my iPod because it's cracked and I can't use the iPod at all. And the only way to unlock my iPod is by getting rid of everything from my iPod and I don't want that. What should I do? Can anyone help me on this?

    - Can you create a backup of the iPod by connecting the iPod to the computer and then click on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up? If so do that than then restore the iPhone from that backup with all apps already in the iTunes library. The iOS on the iPhone has to be greater than or equal to that of the iPod.
    - Otherwise you are out of luck.

Whenever I go to share one of my videos on my iPod touch, I select which ones I want and select share, but then no buttons pop up or anything. There aren't any options like when I go to send photos. Anyone have an idea of why this is happening?

Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

  • How to keep ipod touch from changing networks

I want to lock my iPod touch 2G to a specific network and not have it change and drop it's connectivity. I have ten networks at work and it keeps jumping from network to network. Any ideas on doing this?

    if wifi networks in settings
    there is an option called
    "ask to join networks"
you may want to set that to no if you
dont want the ipod touch to select the network

  • Using iPod Touch remotely while playing back through home stereo.

Hey, I'm not sure if this is possible but I'm interested in knowing if there is a set of accessories I can buy that will allow me to do this:
I want to play music through my home stereo. I want to use the iPod Touch to select which music is played, and I don't want to have to have the Touch plugged into anything.
The music doesn't necessarily need to be played from the Touch, it can be played from my computer instead, the Touch would just need to be able to control and browse my iTunes in this case. Or alternatively the Touch could stream music to some sort of station connected to the stereo.
Is this possible right now or do I need to wait for a new product to allow me to do this.
Lets say price is no concern right now, is there anything out there that would allow me to do this?
    Thanks

  • Misleading warning message after syncing iPod touch via iTunes

I have a 2nd gen iPod Touch running iOS 4.02 and am using iTunes 9.2.1 on my MacBook Pro running Mac OS X 10.6.4
When I sync my iPod Touch via iTunes, by clicking the Sync button ( and without changing any settings on the iPod Touch ) I get the following strange situation.
In the middle of the sync process, the Sync button in iTunes is replaced by a Cancel button and an Apply button.
After the syncing process is completed, if instead of ejecting the iPod touch I select a different row in the Library column of iTunes ( such as Podcasts or Music ), I got a popup warning message that says:
"You have changed the settings for the iPod "iPod touch". Would you like to apply these changes?"
I am presented with two buttons labeled respectively: Apply and Don't Apply.
My question is: Snce I have not changed any settings on my iPod, but only have synced podcasts and music and apps (whatever has changed in iTunes) why am I being told that I have changed the settings on my iPod?

You've posted in the WRONG forum. You won't get any help here unless your question is about Apple's server hardware.

  • I cracked my iPod touch screen and I want to know if Apple will fix the screen or just swap my ipod for a different one?

I cracked my iPod screen today, and I want to get it fixed, but I don't know if the Apple store will do it for free. I've only had it for 6 months and I'm worried that it's going to cost me more money to fix it then if I got a new iPod. It's an iPod touch 4th generation 16GB. If anyone knows the approximate price to fix it, i'd appreciate it!

Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $99. They do not fix yours.

  • I got my ipod touch (4th generation) on March 20,2012, and it fell out of my pocket and cracked the screen. I would like to know how much it costs to get it repaired and how much insurance costs. Thank you for your time.

I got my ipod touch (4th generation) on March 20, 2012, and it fell out of my pocket when I jumped. Unfortunantly, the screen cracked very badly, and it has become a hazard, not only for the many cuts I have gotton on my fingers from the ipod screen's broken glass, but for what I type (because the screen is cracked so badly, I cannot see what I am doing). The ipod has become pointless to own in its condition. I would like to know how much the repair would be, where the best place to get it done is located, and how much future insurance would cost in the United States. Thank you for you time.

    See "Repair Pricing."
No clue where you can purchase insurance but it's probably not worth the price.
