My JAR won't run on computer running 1.1.8

HI everybody. I want to put my jar file on another computer but this other one is running 1.1.8 and its not recognising my jar command :
it says: -jar: illegal argument , and when i check the help it doesn't have jar as an option, and when i check the version its 1.1.8.
The thing is i can't even download a newer versio of java on this machine. So can i change my program to an exe or is there anything i can do to make it work??

As far as I remember the -jar option was only introduced in Java 2. Before that you had to run it by giving the jar file on the classpath and using the main class as the argument to java.
BUT... this is likely to be the least of your problems. If your program uses any features from after version 1.1, then your program won't run anyway.

I figured out why, it had nothing to do with profiler, I forgot to include other jars for it to run.
But I hope there is a button in Netbeans to get back to the state before using the profile, automatically recover build files ...

You should probably just download the trial version of pse 12 and see if you can live with it.

That being said, have you tried to install pse 1 on your computer?
How much free space is on your hard drive?
Do you have Internet Explorer 10 or 11?
Pse 1 can run on windows 7 x64, provided certain conditions are met.

T61 power adaptors do nothing - won't run computer & won't charge battery

My T61 suddenly won't run on the power adaptor, or charge the battery. I have several OEM power adaptors and none of them do anything plugged into this T61. The computer runs fine on a battery charged in another T61.

De authorizing a computer that won't run QT

How do you deauthorize a computer that won't run quicktime, causing itunes not to launch?
Or better yet, how do you fix quicktime so it works, allowing itunes to run in the first place.

My OS is posted along with my original post... XP pro... But is at the SB2 with all the latest updates via automatic updates. I can't seem to properly uninstall quicktime, as it gives me an error, and re installing gives an error as well, but I don't have those errors readily available to post at this time.
Running QT itself provides no error information. It simply doesn't run! When launched, I get an hourglass for a few moments, and it's done! That's it.
I had downloaded the latest at the time the other posting was made. I'll try again with the latest. I Don't expect any improvement.
Perhaps I'll use your recommendation and deauthorize all, and re authorize those that still work. I'll likely need to reformat and install everything on this system to get it working again as it looks.

Well, that may be the cause of the no install problem, as Snow Leopard does require at least 1gB of RAM. The Apple link below will show how it is installed.

Yes, this did solve the problem. But I had some trouble updating QuickTime. It failed, with the installer complaining that it did not have the required permissions to install the files it needed in the program directory. I got it to work by telling it to install the files to another directory. All seems well now - Thanks!

wqn02h, first thing I would do is use Disk utility to repair permissions. Once this is done. Make sure you have the latest versions of the software you use. Also, check the manufacter of your printer/scanner for updated software. If they don't have updated software there are 3rd party alternatives that will work.

Applet won't run if put in JAR file

Hello, I've searched a lot and couldn't find an answer to my problem -
I want to put my applet into a jar file. and run it, of course.
I have a jar file that contains "b.class", "temp.class" both of them in directory "package_name", which is their package's name in eclipse. (this jar I obtained by using export from eclipse).
and - I have my index.html file -

ARCHIVE "jar_file.jar"
WIDTH="100%" HEIGHT="90"
</APPLET>
both the index.html and the jar file in the same directory.
and the applet wont run!
what am I doing wrong? somehow I think that the problem is because the classes reside in another directory in the jar file,
but I already tried everything - with no success :(

Where can I get a download for an earlier version of firefox the new version won't run on my computer

I downloaded version 4 and replaced the old files. The new version won;t run because my Mac dose not have an Intell prossesor. I uninstalled the new version and I cant find the old version to download.

So then I do these cmds which produce the exact same error/reply just above; Unable to load..:

So then I copy soht.properties to C root and do:

Then from other information I have read I right click on the .jar file, select open with Always open with:

Try again.. same problem.
Then I do cmd:

does nothing, retry the other commands same thing (either nothing or those same replies)
Then I read (http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5384879) someone had the same problem as I and they solved it by uninstalling all Java/reboot/ then install JDK 6 Update 14 with NetBeans 6.5.1 start NetBeans and then it worked for them.
So I unistalled all Java, rebooted and gave the cmd another try (before re-installing), now a new error, of course:
C:\062>java -jar soht-client-0.6.2.jar
'java' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
Then I install Java SE and NetBeans Cobundle (JDK 6u14 and NB 6.5.1) Final Release/ reboot/ open Netbeans/
go to test java page; all is good, run cmds again -and still nothing..
C:\062>java -version
java version "1.6.0_14"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_14-b08)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 14.0-b16, mixed mode, sharing)
I reassociate program with: C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.007\bin\javaw.exe_
same thing.. nothing

Taggert77_: I have never used NetBeans. I only installed it in the bundle as I had read on another post that somehow installing the bundle magically helped another user with the same problem (he didn't know why it worked after that either).
Before XP SP3 I was able to execute .jar file through cmd prompt. Now I am not.

The proper cmd is simply: java -jar soht-client-0.6.2.jar
I did give your cmd a try, and it produced nothing :( (just like the other correct cmds)

PS. If you do a search for this you'll find an amazing amount of XP SP3 users with the same problem and no solution posted that I could find except one chap that did the unistall install order that I did above).
