My mac won't make or receive calls from my iPhone, I have yosemite and the phone updated to the 8 iOS version.

My mac won't use the contacts list to make or receive calls from my iPhone. The software is there, the icloud is on. What am I missing?

    You'd need an app like Skype to video call with other phones.
    Data transfer is not supported via bluetooth and iphone to iphone is not supported at all.

    This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    The purpose of this test is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account. Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
    While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your documents or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this behavior; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
    Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem?
    After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
    *Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault in OS X 10.7 or later, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The "Guest User" login created by "Find My Mac" is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.

    Are you saying that your house has both a home wifi network and your office's wifi network?
    Or are you using the Mac and Phone at both work and home?
    This is the Mac Pro desktop forum so are you lugging the Mac Pro desktop to work?
    Can you use FT and Messages on your home network?

    i installed OSX Yosemite 2 days ago but i cant figure how to make or receive calls from my computer.
    everytime it gives an error "your phone and computer must be in the same wi-fi connection" which they already are.
    i tried log out and log in again for icloud also re-installing yosemite but no luck.
    any help would be appreciated

    There are many reports like yours. Apparently there are bugs yet to be worked out in Handoff. Make sure you've taken all the steps directed in the support article linked below. If you have, restart the phone and try again. Failing that, you can either contact Apple Support, go to a "Genius Bar," or wait for an update to iOS and/or OS X.

    I bought this cheap from an unknown persons. I have checked it is not in blacklist. And unlocked by apple.

    Those are all carrier features, so contact your cell phone provider.

    I can't make or receive calls on my IPhone 4.  There's nothing but dead air on both ends and then it freezes.  If I can answer a call, it lasts for a few seconds then gets staticky and cuts out.  I took it to Verizon and they couldn't get it to work either.

    If Verizon, who actually had your phone in hand, was unable to get it to work, what makes you think that we users here, who have no access to your phone, could help?  You need to bring your phone to the experts who can actually run diagnostics on the phone, and that is Apple.

  • IPhone won't make or receive calls, among other issues

    So I've been having a lot of problems with my iPhone 3GS. About 80% of the time it won't make calls, and about 50% of the time it won't receive calls. I'll only know if someone called me if they told me they called or left a voicemail. Every single time this happens I have full service. It's also started getting really picky about sending texts.
    I'm basically fed up at this point. I'm on my second sim card, I've taken my phone to the Apple store three times, and I've been turning it off, resetting it, and switching airplane mode on and off as a last resort. I kind of need my phone to make calls, which it for some reason does not want to do. Any suggestions anyone has about what to do are appreciated.
    Also, my phone has been having issues when it's been plugged in. I've been using the wall charger that came with the phone, yet I've gotten the message after plugging it in that it is a device that doesn't support charging. It constantly vibrates while it's plugged in as well, as though it's being unplugged and plugged back in and takes a really long time to actually charge (I had it plugged in for about 20 minutes and it went from 52% battery to 53% battery). I don't know if this is an issue with the phone or if the cable just died on me.
    Either way, this is really obnoxious. I can't wait until my contract is up so I can get an Android.

    Try cleaning the connector on the bottom of the phone. A dry toothbrush is a good tool to use. Also inspect it with a magnifying glass to make sure there are no bent pins.
    You might also have a bad cable.
    For the other problems have you Restored the phone and set it up as a new phone?
    And I have to ask, just to confirm, the phone is not jailbroken, correct?

    My phone will no longer make or receive calls and I can't text after upgrading to iOS 8.1.1.  I've tried everything except chucking the phone out the window.  Any ideas?  I have reset it multiple times, turned it off and back on, reset the network settings, reset all settings, toggled the airplane mode switch, and done a complete factory restoration.  What else is there to do?  I can't get a new phone for another year.

    My iPhone 4 started to act up. I can't make or receive calls, and same thing with texts. I also can't connect to the internet. When this happens, my iPhone turns off & it won't turn back on unless I charge it. When it's back on, there's a message about a reset that tells me I should go to apple.com/support. We can't call anyone while at home . THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE  VERIZON TOWER THAT SERVICES THIS AREA. PLEASE HELP!

We take this very seriously because just like you I use my cell phone for everything and recently eliminated my home phone. I would love to help you with this issue, so lets get started. I show you are in an area that has great coverage. I do show multiple customers have reported issues in your area and a few weeks ago, it shows the issue was resolved. You advised that you cant get calls inside your home. Have you always had signal issues inside the home? If you step outside your door, can you make a call, send text, or access data related functions at all? Have you tried to power cycle the devices or perform a master reset. The situation you are describing should be able to work, as long as you are using the same iCloud account across all devices and all devices are updated to iOS 8 or Yosemite.
