One you start up the new one for the first time, Setup Assistant starts and offers you the option of migrating your old Mac to your new Mac with Time Machine, among other choices, as the source. You can also use Migration Assistant (in the Utilities Folder) to do the same thing.

Apple discontinued iWeb. That's the case for over a year now.
Topics in this forum will tell you that in order to install iWeb you have to find a copy at eBay, Amazon and similar places.

2006 MacBook Pro died, best methods to transfer data to new MacBook Pro
So my Rev. A MacBook Pro 2.16Ghz intel core duo finally died, looks like something on the logic board. So I bought a brand new 2011 2.2Ghz MacBook Pro. I have purchase and On The Go 2.5 inch enclosure from OWC, it's a USB device. the old hard drive is now in the enclosure, and I'm awaiting delivery tomorrow, of the new MacBook Pro.
My question is, what would be the best method to transfer old files. I want to start fresh with library and system files, as well as email IMAP files. my main concern is applications.
Can I simply drag the actual app from the old app folder to the new app folder? Will it bring along with it preferences and settings? Or do I need all the .DMG files to install the app into the new MBP?
Apps like; Audiohub, Connect360, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro. honestly there are so many more that I can't remember right now.
Thanks in advance.You can attempt to manually move these files but if it doesn't work then just migrating the whole user and deleting the items you don't want might be the way to go.
Copy the following files from the old HD to their matching location on the new computer and then restart the computer before you launch any of these applications:
Safari: Users / Your User / Library / Safari
iCal: Users / Your User / Library / Calendars
Addressbook: Users / Your User / Application Support / Addressbook
iChat : Users / Your User / Library / Preferences / com.apple.ichat (there may be more than one of these files. copy them all over)
I don't use Skype so I don't know exactly where they store their files but checking in Users / Your User / Library / Skype would be a logical place to start. You can certainly ask in the Skype forum: http://forum.skype.com/
Adobe products tend to have bits and pieces scattered throughout. There may be a simple solution but I would suggest you inquire in the Adobe forums: http://forums.adobe.com/community/photoshop/photoshop_macintosh

I have a music library on an iMac and I got a new iPhone and a new MacBook Pro and I want some of the songs from the iMac library to be on my phone and my MacBook Pro and I have a new Apple ID on my phone and my Mac book pro, is this possible if so how do I do it?
Providing specifics on all the ways to do this will take more time than I am willing to spend here these days. You can do some of this with Home Sharing. You can transfer the entire library from one computer to another, If you do that you can delete what you don't want from the transferred library.
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive. Open iTunes and immediately hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) so you get a prompt to select a library, then guide it to the 'iTunes Library.itl' file in the moved iTunes folder. If you put the copied iTunes folder in the default location of Macintosh HD > Users > *User Name* > Music then you don't even need to start with the option key held down, iTunes will automatically look for it there. (Make sure there isn't anything already in the iTunes folder there that you want to keep since you will be replacing it with the one you are moving.)
You do not want to use a new AppleID. Change the AppleID on the new phone to the old ID. Purchases made with one AppleID cannot be transferred to a different one and it will be a royal pain to manage two Apple IDs.
Change iTunes Store account on an iOS device - Log out of your current account with Settings.app > Store (Settings > iTunes & App Stores on iOS 6) > tap on your AppleID. Log in with a different account. Hello, I've tried Lion from the day they released to last week I got my computer formated and with leopard again, on my iMac 24" from early 2009 2.9 Ghz core 2 duo, and I have installed 8 Gb of memory, and i have some complains about it, there are some cosmetic issues but mostly I'm concerned about issues bellow the hood, as I'm a stock trader and I depend completly from my computer's performance, let me explain:
Superficial issues:
1. They took off "spaces" and I liked it.
2. I dont use the magic mouse, I need a more accurate mouse for my charts, and it seems they built the entire OS assuming you would use the magic mouse for gestures, scroll, etc to try to mimic in some way the Ipad and Iphone functions, but what if you arent using it like me?
3. I never used that little rocket icon that makes all your apps appear and that could be one of the "improvements on Lion", at first sight it looks nice and slick, but if you try to use it and make it part of your daily use, you would find it is useless, it is a pain to try to arrange it the way you like it, so I rather use the spotlight to search for my apps, its faster.
Now the MOST important, 'performance':
1. It completly suffocate my computers hardware Leopard much more lighter, beggining from the start up that taked almost 1/3 or twice the time, and I think Lion has some bugs bellow the hood, i was doing my normal stuff, some apps running and everything, and suddenly I started to feel the computer a little slow, safari taking forever to open the pages for example, and I opened the activity monitor to see what was going on, and it was there, I was using 4 or 5 gb from my memory, and CPU making insane peaks, and Im using 2.46 gb as im writing it doing exactly the same stuff, (but Im happily using Leopard now), and it wasnt once, as i told before, I used lion since the day they released it and happened several times until it drove me nutts. But leopard not problem in that regard at all, Never.

Searched online and someone suggested downloading the LR trial, and set up Cloud, then can enter the serial number to complete the purchase. Which is what I did, but the serial number is being rejected.
Ok, maybe what they’re calling Creative Cloud is merely your Adobe ID, an e-mail and password to login with. The LR5 6 update link is probably what you want to download—all updates are downloads, anyway, so there’s no need to have a disc reader as long as you have internet and the serial number.

Another issue might be that what you think is a serial number is a redemption code that needs to be converted to a serial number using this website: http://www.adobe.com/go/getserial A clue that you have a redemption code is that it has letters and numbers. I am experiencing some major problems with my MacBook Pro. I have had some issues with it turning on/off at random times, but today, when starting, I get the grey start-up screen and a recovery bar. After filling in approx 1/4 of the way, the machine dies. After starting it in recovery mode, it will not allow me to download OS X Mavericks- it says the disk is locked. Any ideas? I do not have a back-up and do not want to erase everything before I have explored my options. Help?
try forcing internet recover, hold 3 keys - command, option, r - you should see a spinning globe
most people will tell you to do both pram and smc resets (google) and if you still have issues, either clean install (easy) or troubleshoot (hard) -

I would like to use my work exchange email on my macbook pro. But I cannot install it. I have no problem my work email on my iPhone or iPad. My work IT person does not know what is wrong. Why I try to set up the email I get the message that it cannot connect to this server.
Try going into System Prefereces then Mail, Cintacts & Calendars then click on the Microsoft Exchange link on the right. Type in your email address and password and allow it to set it up automatically.
Make sure your Mac is updated to the newest version of Mail.
If that still fails then I suggest you switch email clients. I don't care for the built in mail program. IMHO it is very buggy. -
I have MacBook Pro. I have my iPhoto library on external hard drive only. It has 30,000 photos on it. I have bought a 2nd external hard drive and would like to copy my iPhoto library onto it as a back up. I tried plugging both in and dragging the iPhoto library into the 2nd external harddrive. It looked as though it was working as it said 20 hours, however I then got a message box saying FiNader could not complete the task due to incompatible files. How do I do this please.

And a Mac can not Natively write to an NTSF drive - it can natively read it but can not write to it with special software
And since formatting a drive erases it it is critical to tell users not to format until they have a positively known good backup
The TOU for these forum state that you should test your answers prior to posting them -- you obviously are not doing that and you advice is endangering users photos - please only post tested answers

Zap the PRAM and Reset the SMC, then try again. If the problem remains, update to 10.6.8 and repeat.
