My Nano 5th Gen loses battery strength rapidly while listening to the radio.  Should there be that much difference than listening to an audiobook or music?

Should there really be that much difference in the use of battery power between listening to the radio and listening to an audiobook or music?

This should be the place.

I have a nano 5th gen which I bought new. I no longer have the computer that I sync'd it with and created library on. I have new computer and Itunes library which I want to sync w my nano and songs on it. When I try it tells me I will loose all the songs on my nano bc Im already sync'd on a dif library. How do I keep from loosing all my songs?

Your iPod is designed to sync with only one iTunes library at a time.  If you try to sync it with a new or different iTunes library, it will erase what is currently on the iPod and replace it with what is in the new library.

Will 5k runner app work on ipod nano 5th gen?

What is a 5k runner app? If it is something that runs on an iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad it will not run n the Nano.

Take the computer to an Apple store or an AASP.  Whichever is more convenient for you.

Yes, your battery is likely toast and in need of replacement.  Not much else for troubleshooting here.  Sorry.

  • IPod Nano 5th Gen Battery

I just have a question that i'm hoping someone could answer. I purchased an iPod nano 5th gen about two weeks ago. Anyway when I first charged it, I left it on my computer (laptop) for about 2hours (Thought this was enough). I was unsure about how long to charge it for. I have a couple of questions:
If I didn't charge it for long enough the first time, how does this effect the battery?
I also heard you are supposed to completely let the battery die the first time to get complete life out of it.
How do you know when the iPod is completely charged? Does it say it on the screen?

    It doesn't.

This won't really effect battery life too much. However it is a good idea to do from time to time to reset the calibration of the little battery indicator on the screen which can get out of whack with lots of little top offs. Letting it run until it shuts off then completely recharging and get that indicator to be a bit more accurate.
How do you know when the iPod is completely charged? Does it say it on the screen?
You won't know unless you let it charge for a long time. When the charging symbol changes from the actively charging icon (lightening bolt) to the AC Plug symbol to indicate it is charges, it typically does this at about 80% charge. It then continues to trickle charge up to 100%.

  • 2 yrs worth of music on my ipod nano 5th gen just vanished while I was trying to add four new tracks.

Most of the music I've put on my ipod nano 5th gen in the last 2 years just vanished while I was trying to add four new tracks. Stuff from before that seems to be still there (I add stuff manually, not sync, and the ipod wasn't full). It was a bit glitchy as soon as I plugged it in to update - threw up a few error messages, decided to verify my ipod a couple of times, After that, once or twice itunes seemed to lose the ipod completely, although as far as the laptop was concerned it was definitely still connected, so i went for the 'safe to remove hardware' option and reconnected...
I'm guessing somewhere in the midst of whatever was going on there, something got confused or corrupted, but I have no way to tell what... Ipod seems to think it is using less of its capacity now, but I don't know whether to believe it or not!
Can I get this stuff back? It's not just stuff I bought from itunes, either - things I put on from cds have gone too. I have all the music either backed up or on cds, but I'm not in the same country as my cds right now - also rebuilding all of my playlists and trying to remember what went where is going to be a pain! Is there a quicker way than just doing it all over again?

  • My ipod nano 5th gen  wont play movies or videos on my ipod but plays them on itunes when i click on it the screen flashes black i have tried taking the movie off my ipod and putting it back on but it still won't work what should i do?

My ipod nano 5th gen. won't play movies or tv shows but it plays them on itunes.  When I click  on it the screen flashes black. I have tried taking the videos off my ipod and then putting them back on but it still won't work. what should i do?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IPod Nano (5th gen, 16GB) syncing some albums, but not others...?

Hello! I am new to the world of iPods, so please bear with me.
I recently purchased an iPod Nano (5th gen, 16GB) and figured out how to sync it with iTunes. Unfortunately, it seems to only sync up with select albums in my library. I know that in order for an album to sync there needs to be check marks next to each song, which I did, but after I sync it I browse my iPod and find that only (roughly) half of the albums I indicated actually show up on my iPod. For example, I was able to sync albums by The Afghan Whigs, Bryan Ferry, and Berlin just fine, but for some reason I was not able to sync certain albums by Autechre, Low, or King Black Acid.
What gives?? I will note that I am using the Windows 7 release candidate - hopefully this has nothing to do with it.

    Hello livoryy
It sounds like the battery just does not hold a charge. Check out the page below and look at the battery replacement section to get all the answers to what you are asking.

  • IPOD NANO 5TH GEN Broken Because of Water Damage

IPOD NANO 5TH GEN water damage, it worked untill i put it on the charger, and it wont start again, Is there anyway to save this IPOD NANO PLEASE HELP

You've definitely shorted out the battery and may have done logicboard damage. You can do an out-of-warranty replacement at your nearest Apple Store. Make a Genius Bar appointment before you go.

The music does not belong to you.  You have no legal right to it and there is no way to keep it.

  • Nano 5th gen, not seen in windows or itunes, older ipod IS

OK my ipod is a Nano 5th Gen and the Mrs is 2nd gen, as soon as i plug her ipod into my win 7 pc it comes up fine in both explorer and itunes so my system is working fine i guess.
However when ever i plug my in nothing happen, not showing up in itunes or windows explorer or right clicking on my computer and selecting "Manage" right clicking "Disk Management" or "Device Manager" there is NO mention of Apple device, tried resetting it by turning lock on then off then menu/centre button, which did reset the ipod but still not showing up in either windows or ituens.
Just wondering what i'm missing her, I do have access to the mrs laptop with ituens on but of course it has her music on, **** while i was typing i got hers out plugged my ipod into her laptop and again nothing in itunes or explorer so i'm 99.9% the issue is with my Nano.
So is she dead and times to go and buy something new or does anyone have any suggestions for a fix?
    All1

Try one or more of the following:
    Restart your computer
    Uninstall & Reinstall iTunes
Reset iPod (will not delete everything)
Check in My Computer (Windows XP) or Computer (Windows Vista & 7) and see if it shows
    Restore iPod (will delete everything)
Make sure iTunes and iOS firmware is up to date

    Hope this helps.
