My officejet K80xi keeps showing scanner failure.

A friend gave me an Officejet K80xi.  When I power it on it requires twice for cartridge alignment and then comes up with a message of Scanner Failue.  Turn power on and off again.
How do I troubleshoot this error?

How do I repair the Scanner Failure message to get theK80Xi to function properly?

  • Officejet Pro 8600 Plus scanner failure

I have an Officejet Pro 8600 Plus all-in-one. When I first got it, all of the features worked fine: print, scan, and copy. A few weeks ago, it started to not scan or copy, and printer was hit or miss. I have managed to resolve the printing issue, but it still wont scan or copy. I have tried uninstalling the printer both from the hp folder and control panel and then reinstalling the driver (I have the full feature one). I have tried the scan and print doctor, and it doesnt make it past the second step. The error message the printer displays is, "scanner failure: unable to scan, copy, or send a fax." I have also followed the steps to go into services, and both of the necessary dependencies are listed for the WIA, and the RPC and shell hardware are both started. Please help.

    Hello ld2hx,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue with scanning, copying and faxing.
First off, please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
Please click on the following link for A 'Connection Error' or 'No Computer Detected' Error Message Displays during Scanning.
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, click here: click here.

  • My printer HP Officejet 4500 won't scan, fax or copy. It displays Scanner failure, press OK.

My product is HP Officejet 4500, The operating System of my computer is Window XP. The error message display on my printer is - Scanner failure, unable to scan copy or send a fax. press OK. THE SCANNER LIGHT DOES NOT MOVE AGAIN BUT THE PRINTER CAN PRINT and I am out of warranty and not inssured

I hate to tell you this, but that message normally means that you will not be scanning, copying, or faxing with this printer any more.  You can try to fix the problem by following the steps in this document, but typically you just have to get a new one.  Sorry.

  • Can a "OfficeJet 7310" "scanner failure" be repaired?

I first received the "scanner failure" error on my OfficeJet 7310 while trying to scan a document; the machine made a loud noise that sounded like gears slipping and advised that I should "turn off power and then turn on" which, of course did not change anything. I was able to print from applications like Word. Now the error occurs at printer startup and will not allow any operation; this appears as though it is a hardware issue.

What to do?  Can the scanner failure be repaired on my office jet 7410 all in one?

  • Scanner Failure

I keep getting a message, "Scanner Failure".  I belive this is a mechanical problem.  How can I solve it?

You can try to do a partial reset:
Unplug the power cord from the product, and wait 20 seconds.
Press and hold # and 3 while plugging in the power cord to the product.
Release the buttons after the product starts up. The product will now be reset to factory defaults.
If this fails to resolve it, you may be looking at a repair.

  • HP OfficeJet K80xi

I'm setting up a new Mac and I'm looking for a little advise on printer setup or a new printer.
My current printer is an all in one (printer/copier/fax/scanner) HP OfficeJet K80xi. The driver for this printer needed to be downloaded from SourceForge
(hpijs and ghostscript). I've loaded the driver, however when I go to print, the print queue ends up timeing out on "connecting to printer". The printer is attached via USB (I've tested the port with a usb drive, so I know the port/cable works). The question is:
Is it possble to make this printer cooperate with MacOS or should I be looking for a new printer?
If yes to the latter, any suggestions for an all-in-one printer?
    Thanks

    The driver never worked
Given the workflow of Mac OS X printing via the hpijs drivers, there is no evidence of this. The driver portion of the workflow does not communicate with the printer. It is the communications with the printer that is causing the problem.
    and the USB-Parallel cable
would cause the keyboard/mouse to lock up, not good.
I have never run across that situation. How did you attach the USB part of the cable to your computer? Did you plug it into a USB port on the keyboard, a USB port on the computer, or to a USB port on a USB hub, etc.?

  • M1212nf MFP Auto document feeder and scanner failure

    Yep, hardware issue here:
Printer does not show any change on status panel when a piece of paper is inserted into the adf.
Scanner scans a blank page to the network or usb connected pc
Copy function produces blank or black pages even when using flatbed as opposed to adf.
Network and usb printing works correctly.
software reset done at product control panel to restore default settings to no avail.
What advice do you have for me?

    Hi @RottenRonnie,
I see that you are getting a  blank page when scanning. When you copy, you are getting a  blank or black pages from the glass and the ADF. I would like to help.
I would do a hard reset to see if that will resolve the issue.
Leave the printer on and unplug the power cable from the printer and wall outlet for 60 seconds.
Then reconnect the power cable to the printer and wall outlet rather than a surge protector.
This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.
Please keep the scanner lid open and then press the copy button.
Check if the scanner bulb glows.
Also to see if the scanner moves freely across the glass.
Update the printer's firmware. HP LaserJet Pro M1212nf Multifunction Printer Drivers.

I have HP color LaserJet 6040f MFP screen showing NON-HP supply in use and with code error 30.10.19-scanner failure. I changed the tuners and the same.

    Hi,
If you are using a surgeprotector please bypass it and connect the printer directly to a wall jack. If you are using a non hp tonner or a refilled tonner  Please change it with a genuine hp tonner

  • My iPod keeps showing the apple logo + a blank screen and the lock screen keeps freezing when trying to unlock it.

Last night I turned my iPod touch 4g off randomly and then when I went to turn it back on and went to unlock the screen it froze up right there and will not unlock to the home screen to where all my apps and all that are. Ever since that happened the iPod keeps showing the apple logo repeatedly, as well as a screen being completely blank when still turned on. Also when i plug in the iPod to the computer it recognizes it for a second but the iPod does nothing and shuts off and repeats in showing the apple logo and blank black screen. I can get it to the home screen where the slide to lock button is but every time i even attempt to slide it, it freezes up and doesn't do it.
I also having been trying to restore it by plugging in the cord and pressing the home button to get the screen with the usb cord to pop up but no matter what i do, it will not let me turn the iPod off period because every time i keep trying to do that it just shows the apple logo and all of what i said up above again. I have also seen it get a white screen to show a few times , which i assume means the white screen of death. I have never seen that screen before this happened.
I know this is not making any sense whatsoever but this is very hard to put into words in explaining. I have searched the internet but i can't find a single problem that sounds like this one in solving to fix it. The iPod is on right now as i'm typing this. I haven't attemtped to push the buttons down again to fix as i would assume maybe to just leave it alone as i sleep through the night in hopes of it maybe working or even dying. I've only had this iPod for 4 months now and i just don't understand why it won't let me turn it off completely or work properly for me to restore it.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My iphone 5 won't turn on but when plugged into power source it keeps showing apple logo?

My iPhone 5 won't turn on at all and then when I plug it into a power source either into a plug socket or into my laptop with the USB cable it keeps showing start up screen with apple logo over and over again on a loop.
I have tried holding the top and front button together, this didn't work. I have also tried connecting to my laptop and following the reboot steps that I found on another discussion forum. Neither worked for me. The phone just won't reboot and it keeps continuing to loop the apple logo screen over and over without me touching anything.
The iPhone won't even connect to itunes and so itunes seems to not recognise my phone because its not even turning on (just continually apple logo screen appears for 5 seconds, goes to black screen and then repeats).
I don't know what is happening to it! Can anyone help? Is it a fault with the hardware or have I dont something to it? The next appointment at the genius bar for me is monday so I'm going to keep looking for any more recent ones until then but I really need to get it sorted before then so if anyone can help that would be great!
    Thanks

Try a reset when your iPhone is plugged into the charger as you say it does not respond when not plugged in...
Press and hold the Home and On/Off buttons simultaneously until you see the Apple logo, then release.  This may take up to 10 seconds.  This is the equivalent of a re-boot and you will not lose any data.
See if it will charge after this.

  • I interrupted my iphone upgrade to ioS 6 and now my phone just keeps showing the apple. it wont restart or show up when I plug it into itunes!!!!

Help! i accidently interrupted my iphone upgrade to ioS 6 and now my phone wont turn on completely. it just keeps showing the apple. it also wont register with itunes...i have tried turning it off and restarting it multiple times but nothing is working. HELP!

hey man, i feel your pain... here's my story and i'm pretty sure this will work for you... on the 19th of september i went to upgrade ios 6 and paused it about 1/10 through... when i plugged my phone up at night the screen was at the normal lock screen.. when i woke up at 10:30 am i went to check my phone and the screen appeared as an apple logo with a progression bar about 6/10 full.. it didn't seem to be progressing any more, but i guess that was only because it was so slow trying to download over wifi because it had all night to finish downloading.. anyways i needed to check my texts and the time so i held down the lock button and the phone turned off during the download.. when i tried to turn it on the apple logo would appear like normal trying to boot up.. then it would fade away and cut off.. then seconds later try to turn on again, by itself, repeatedly for hours on september 20. i tried restarting it (holding lock and home button down 10-15 seconds) but the problem with that is that the phone was already trying to turn on itself so it never would restart correctly... (continued turning on and off by itself).. i went to verizon and they said my phone is screwed.. go to apple if you wanna pay.. i called apple support and a lady helped me out here's the solution that worked after hours of thinking my phone is totally screwed.. when the phone is dark and cut off.. press and hold the home button before you plugin your sync cable to your usb port.. (have itunes up and ready) continue holding the home button and plugin the sync cable.. still holding the button, wait for a message from itunes appear that says it recognizes your device in recovery mode.. press ok.. the screen on your iphone should be a snyc cable and and arrow pointing to an itunes symbol... from there it is pretty self explanatory.. you will need to restore and update your phone from there which should be an option after you press ok... it takes awhile.. your phone will then go through one, or maybe a few progression bars (it may vary, not sure).. while your itunes will be restoring software & firmware.. when everything is done on itunes and your phone.. your phone should boot right up!!! reply if you have any more questions.. i'm so glad i resolved my issue today.. good luck!

  • In Mail, one mailbox for Recovered Message (AOL) keeps showing 1 very large message that I cannot delete. How can I get rid of this recurring problem, please?

In Mail on iMac, successfully running OS X Lion, one mailbox on My Mac for "Recovered Messages (from AOL)" keeps showing 1 very large message (more than 20 Mb) that I just cannot seem to delete. Each time I go into my In Box, the "loading" symbol spins and the message appears in the "Recovered Messages" mailbox. How can I get rid of this recurrent file, please?
At the same time, I'm not receviving any new mails in my In Box, although, if I look at the same account on my MacBook Pro, I can indeed see the incoming mails (but on that machine I do not have the "recovery" problem).
The help of a clear-thinking Apple fan would be greatly appreciated.
    Many thanks.
    From Ian in Paris, France

    Ian
    I worked it out.
Unhide your hidden files ( I used a widget from http://www.apple.com/downloads/dashboard/developer/hiddenfiles.html)
    Go to your HD.
    Go to Users.
    Go to your House (home)
there should be a hidden Library folder there (it will be transparent)
Go to Mail in this folder
The next folder ( for me ) is V2
Click on that and the next one will be a whole list of your mail servers, and one folder called Mailboxes
Click on that and there should be a folder called recovered messages (server) . mbox
Click on that there a random numbered/lettered folder -> data
In that data folder is a list of random numbered folders (i.e a folder called 2, one called 9 etc) and in EACH of these, another numbered folder, and then a folder called messages.
In the messages folder delete all of the ebmx (I think that's what they were from memory, sorry I forgot as I already deleted my trash after my golden moment).
This was GOLDEN for me. Reason being, when I went to delete my "recovered file" in mail, it would give me an error message " cannot delete 2500 files". I knew it was only 1 file so this was weird. Why 2500 files? Because if you click on the ebmx files like I did, hey presto, it turned out that they were ALL THE SAME MESSAGE = 2500 times. In each of those folders in the random numbers, in their related message folder.
Now remember - DONT delete the folder, make sure you have gone to the message folder, found all those pesky ebmx files and deleted THOSE, not the folder.
It worked for me. No restarting or anything. And recovered file. GONE.
Started receiving and syncing mail again. Woohoo.
    Best wishes.
