Authorizing the computer does not make content magically appear.
Restore the media and other important files from the backup of the computer.
If for some silly reason you have failed to maintain a backup (not smart), download past purchases from iTunes. FYI, not all content is available for redownload.

I figured a Nano would probably connect in a simpler way than the touch, but only have a couple computers and cables to test.
I've reinstalled iTunes, but not the full suite, and not all traces. I will attempt this, but I suspect its related to my touch. I was able to connect other iphones to my itunes without issue, using the same cable.

I had to restore my cpu running, windows xp, to the factory settings and my entire itunes library was lost. I uploaded these songs from cd's I owned and then sold these cd's. the version of itunes on my cpu is about five years old, the ipod software needs to be reloaded and the ipod software version is on 7 something. I am worried that if I load the ipod software and download the latest version of itunes that the library will sync the ipod to its content, which is nothing, and I will lose all my prized music. Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you use our iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync. I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay:

My boyfriend and I share an iTunes account. I just tried to update his phone and during the update an error message occurred saying that his phone had to be reset to factory settings. It said it was an un setup phone and needed plugged in to iTunes. With no other choice, we had to select reset to factory settings. Now, my phone backup through iCloud downloaded onto his and all of his contacts and photos were overridden by mine. His photos were in process of transferring from the phone to the pc while this occurred and over 900 of them were complete when this happened. They don't show up on the pc now either since the sycn wasn't finished. Is there a way to get them back? When we plug his phone in now it shows my name instead of his so I'm not sure how to get to an old version of his backups even.

If the library file is on the external drive, hold <SHIFT> while launching iTunes. When it prompts to select a library file or create a new one, point it to the location of the library file.
If the library file was on the internal harddrive, easiest solution is to restore it from the backup. If no backup exists, use File > Add Folder to library. Also under Edit > Preferences > Advanced, change the library location unless you want iTunes to move the media to the internal drive.

I definitely think this is a Mavericks issue. My iMac running Mavericks is the ONLY system in the house that drops the network randomly while all other systems never lose the network. No idea how to resolve this, but here is the workaround I'm posting:
I've had the 'network drop' issue with my Airport Extreme for the last 2 months. It reconnects when I pull the ethernet cable and plug it back in. I've tried downgrading the AE firmware, resetting to factory, etc. Nothing worked. I finally threw in the towel and created a script that monitors my network connectivity and restarts my interface if it senses it has dropped:

If you only changed your password - not your Apple ID - have you changed it in the settings? Settings>Store>Apple ID - tap the ID and you can make changes in there.
You should not have to reset to factory Settings so don't resort to that just yet.

Hi Jen. My daughter just compleated her nursing program and is now working as a full time nurse. Focus and study hard and soon you will be there too. Now to the problem at hand. I have the same problem. I gave up on it and satisfied myself with my iPod without the upgrade. Reason being I've read so many posts of people having problems after the upgrade. But I'm sure other factors are involved. Nevertheless here is the fix most say works to solve the problem: What ever virus protection you have installed on your computer, disable it. Then try to install the update. After that enable the protection. I had Kaspersky, and it does it's job well. The thinking is, the virus protection is blocking the upgrade. Hope this works. Charlie

You don't "unsync" it.
Copy the entire /Music/iTunes/ folder from old computer to /Music/ on new computer and yoru iPhone will sync fine with new computer.
