My original iPhones screen had problems, and the apple store replaced the phone for me. However this new phone doesn't connect really at all to the 3G network. My phone automatically goes to GPRS. Is it a defective iPhone?

What do you think?

My friend threw a Straight Talk SIM card in so now it is working on the GSM network. The service isn't as good but at least my phone works again.

I occasionally have issues waking my macbook pro up from sleep mode resulting in my need to restart the computer. I dislike all of my programs opening at once when I do get the computer started becasue it slows the cpu down. The apple store replaced the sleep part but the problem is still there. Note: i never had this problem with snow leopard

I'm not certain but my new MBA 13...when in sleep mode comes back on from a black screen when I simply click on the left mouse button. Also, one time I did a SECURE EMPTY TRASH on files that totalled more than 1GB and it took so long that the fan kept increasing in speed so I pressed on the POWER button and the MBA shut...I was able to boot up with no problem. As a rule, I now only do secured erases for trash bin data totalling 500mb or less...anything above that gets a regular erase (dump).

Microsoft Office 2011 no longer opens because "there is a problem" after updating mountain lion when the app store said there was an update available this morning. Reinstalling did not work. What's the problem?

Has your problem been solved by the updates??
Have a similar problem. This MacBook opened all MS Office programs in Dec2012 but no longer does in Feb2013. Went to Microsoft/mac/downloads but none of the three updates would run citing a problem "version of software needed to run this update was not found on this volume".
MacBook: 7.1, Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.4 GHz
    Microsoft Office 2011:  version 14.2.3
    Mountain Lion: 10.8.2 (12C60)

  • The hard drive on my MacBookPro crashed.  The Apple store replaced it.  Since then I can't open iphoto.  It asks to rebuild library; when I click yes, I get: "Aperture cannot access this library; reset permissions." I don't own Aperture!

The hard drive on my MacBookPro recently crashed.  The Apple store replaced it.  Since then I can't open iphoto.  It asks to rebuild library; when I click yes, I get: "Aperture cannot access this library; reset permissions." I don't own Aperture!  Any thoughts on how I can rebuild the iphoto library?  Currently I can't even get into it.

Back up all data. Don't continue unless you're sure you can restore from a backup, even if you're unable to log in.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. To do that, unlock the preference pane using the credentials of an administrator, check the box marked Allow user to administer this computer, then reboot. You can demote the problem account back to standard status when this step has been completed.
Triple-click the following line to select it. Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    { sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR.. ; sudo chown -R $UID:staff ~ $_ ; sudo chmod -R u+rwX ~ $_ ; chmod -R -N ~ $_ ; } 2> /dev/null
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command will take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1 or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Boot into Recovery. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not  going to reset a password.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

  • I'm not able to pair my iPad with my Logitech mini-Boombox. I was able to do this on my original iPad. I was having a problem on an unrelated matter, and the Apple store replaced it with a new device. Previously, all Bluetooth devices worked fine;

I'm not able to pair my iPad via Bluetooth with my Logitech mini-Boombox. I recently brought my iPad to the Apple Store for an unrelated problem, and they replaced it with a new device. The old device had no problem pairing with any of my Bluetooth devices. I'm only haveing the problem with my new device. I was able to pair it with my Apple wireless keyboard, but not the mini-Boombox. I think I've done everything that I've read in other forum posts: I've toggled the Bluetooth setting on and off; I've reset the iPad a couple times; I've turned off and on the mini-Boombox; I've recharged the mini-Boombox. What am I missing here, and how can I fix this?

  • Hi, my iPhone 3GS wall charger stoped working, and I went to Orange shop with my warranty and L.I.G. insurance. They said I should also give them the phone for almost 10 days, isn't there a faster way, is it possible the Apple Store replaces my wall charge

My 5YO daughter owns her very own IPhone 3GS, she got it for her 5YO birthday on the 24th of june. its allready upgraded to iOS5, and works like a charm.
Last evening, while it was charging, a flame appeared and the charger stopped working. The USB still works.
It was plugged in a Belkin 3700 joule along with my 47 Inch Full HD TV .
No storm or something like that, and there was nothing wrong with my TV, as in was still running.
    Problem.
I went today to an Orange store here in Romania, with the charger, invoice, warranty, and L.I.G. (London Insurrace Group ((I think))) insurrance, and they said I MUST also bring the iPhone, and thet it will take just about 10 working days for them to give me back the Iphone, and a new charger.
Is there a faster way I can get the wall charger replaced?
Should I try going to the Apple Store with the warranty from Orange.
    Thank you for your answers.
    Please excuse my English.

  • My CDMA Straight Talk iPhone 5 was defective and the Apple Store replaced it. But now I can't activate the new iPhone!

I have been to the Apple Store twice now, and my original iPhone has been replaced three times since Tuesday. Straight Talk says they are getting an error on their end when trying to activate and add the phone to my existing account. They are insistent that the phone I have is not a CDMA iPhone and that I need to go back to the Apple Store again to get another phone. My iPhone said that it is activated on CDMA US network, and shows bars and the 3G symbol; and yet my carrier doesn't show up on the top bar where it should be. The iPhone I have now is in fact CDMA with the part number A1429. Has anyone experienced a similar issue when they had their Straight Talk iPhone replaced?

My friend threw a Straight Talk SIM card in so now it is working on the GSM network. The service isn't as good but at least my phone works again.

  • I have an ipod with a horribly cracked screen and the LCD screen is white with gray patches, i don't have any money to get it replaced and i can't tell my mom because she will freak out will the apple store replace mine for free?

Can anyone help me know so i can go to the apple store and see if they can replace it for free

I'm afraid that a free replacement is very unlikely, the warranty does not cover accidental damage and a cracked screen seems to be just that.

  • My speaker isn't working is this a common problem and will the apple store replace my phone for no charge?

I play a lot of music on my phone, for about a week or so my speaker was cutting out. Then day before yesterday it cut out again and won't work for ringtones or anything.
I was wondering if I'm the only one with the problem and of I took it to the apple store would they fix it/ replace my phone for me.

is there no sound from the phone at all? i'm just checking because many people think there are 2 speakers on the bottom of the phone when in fact there is 1 speaker and 1 microphone. also, have you tried resetting the phone by holding the sleep/wake button and home button until the phone restarts? does it have sound thru the headphones? sometimes the phone gets stuck in headphone mode and you can try plugging and unpluggng the headphones a couple of times.

  • Why is the Apple Store App not optimized for iPhone 5?

You would think that the Apple Store app would be optimized for iPhone 5 4inch screen? Isn't this an APPLE PRODUCT.   Come on let's get an update!!

You're not addressing Apple here, and any attempt to do so makes you look foolish. We're users here, just like you.
Here's where feedback to Apple goes:  http://www.apple.com/feedback

  • If my iPhone charger broke will the apple store replace it

If I go to the Apple Store will they replace it for free?

If the apple care includes replacement of iphone chargers, then they will. but it's best just buying a cheap one from either amazon or Ebay.
But here https://www.apple.com/uk/support/products/iphone.html it states that they can replace it if you have Apple care.
"With AppleCare+, you get repair or replacement coverage for your iPhone that includes up to two incidents of accidental damage, each subject to a £55 excess fee, and coverage against battery depletion of 50 per cent or more from original specification. Coverage includes the following:
    Your iPhone
    Battery2
Included USB cable and power adapter"
But make sure to get apple care for Iphone, not for any other if your only wanting it for your Iphone.
Please be sure to give a like or thumbs up.

  • TS1567 I cannot upgrade my ipad as advised at the apple store by doing it via itunes.  I keep getting told Mobile Device Service not there... It is on Automatic.  Have reinstalled Itunes and AMDS.... Help please.

I have been to the Apple Store and been advised to upgrade my ipad2 with all since my purchase last year I need to go to Itunes on my computer, go to check, and click and all should upgrade.  Not so easy, have had no success.  Have reinstalled itunes, restarted my ipad and tried again.
    Please help

Why don't you take a different approach like take it off of automatic and restart it on your own and then see if you can update the iPad?
How to restart the AMDS for Windows
You may also want to consider uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes and the AMDS - starting over from scratch.

Go for it! I have one and it definatley keeps the ipod clean of finger prints and protects it if it is dropped. I love mine. If only the ipod would be recognized when connected to the computer , the world would be perfect.

  • What sort of phone are the Apple Store replacement phones?

When I originally got my iPhone 4 a few years ago, I had a pixel die on two, and I took them to the Apple Store; they replaced them (for free) with phones that were wrapped in the plastic protectors, but in a box wholly different from the actual iPhone 4 box. Maybe it was my imagination, but both my replacement phones seemed... loose or rattle-ey, if you will, though they worked just fine and looked new, nevertheless. Anyway, jumpy to today: I got my iPhone 6 in the mail but it had a scratch on the screen. I took it to the Apple Store and they replaced it, yet again, with a phone in the normal plastic protective sleeve and in a box not like the one the phone comes in. Maybe I'm crazy, but this one rattles too. I can't put my hand on it, but the replacement phone's feel different than the phones that came right out of a factory sealed box.
Does anyone know where the replacement phones come from? Are they refurbished phones? Or are they separately shipped new phones held in-stock just for replacements? I'm curious to know.

Oh yeah, I know. When I bought my MacBook it was a refurbished from the site, and it was absolutely perfect---same as my Apple TV... it came flawless... looked new! But every "replacement" phone I've gotten from an Apple Store, rattles and seems... "rebuilt", if you will. I realize a refurbished is rebuilt, but this phone doesn't have the feel or quality of a real new phone. It's not solid. It feels like something someone lazily repaired it at another tech store. I guess I'll go back up there tomorrow...
