My phone has been restoring since yesterday at 5 pm, its now the next day at 8 am. what do I do?

I have an Iphone for and still have ios 6. For the past couple of days  icannot Imessage, it keeps saying "waiting for activation". I alsoo had a ridiculous amount of "other" space on my phone.
Well I took it to the apple store and the guy restored my phone which seemed to fix all my problems, but I still cannot imessage unless connected to wifi and my phone is still restoring. I tried plugging it to my computer and itunes wont let me restore it.Plus the messages won't send from my number, only my email. I can see my number as an option but I cant click on it.
1) How can I get this to restore faster? Or how much longer will this take?
2) How can I immessage again?
3) How can I get my phone to send messages from my number and not my email?

I didn't know you have an MBP. It doesn't have antivirus unless you added it, and the firewall is off by default. And iTunes on a Mac knows how to get around it. It's beginning to look like a hardware problem. Do you have another computer you can try to restore it with? Or an Apple store where you can make a genius appointment?
Do you have the latest version of iTunes (10.4). If you don't you should get a warning, so you probably do, but worth checking. You can try reinstalling iTunes; as it's a Mac you can just download and install over the old one.
What version of OS X? You need at least 10.5.4.
I asked about TinyUmbrella, but let's check anyway. Using textedit, open the file /etc/hosts. You may have to enter the file name directly, as it's hidden and you may not be able to browse to it. It should look like this:
# Host Database
# localhost is used to configure the loopback interface
# when the system is booting.  Do not change this entry.
127.0.0.1          localhost
255.255.255.255          broadcasthost
::1             localhost
fe80::1%lo0          localhost
If it has any other lines, especially lines that contains gs.apple.com, delete those lines and save the file. The Update should then work. I doubt that this is the problem, but we've tried all of the standard ways to fix it.

    Hello there, Jeanne2919.
There is a great Knowledge Base article that is right up your alley:
iOS and iPod: Syncing photos using iTunes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4236
    Specifically this section:
To delete synced photos and videos
In iTunes, select the device icon in the Devices list on the left. Click the Photos tab in the resulting window.
    Choose "Sync photos from."
On a Mac, choose iPhoto or Aperture from the pop-up menu.
On a Windows PC, choose Photoshop Album or Photoshop Elements from the pop-up menu.
Choose "Selected albums" and deselect the albums or collections you want to delete.
    Click Apply.
To delete Camera Roll photos and videos
There are two methods to delete items from the Camera Roll:
Import the Camera Roll to your computer, choosing to delete items after import.
    or
Delete photos and videos from your device manually. Open the Photos application, open the Camera Roll, tap the Action button, tap each photo to select it, and tap the Delete button.
Note: For photos and videos you want to save for later, import them to your computer before deleting them from the Camera Roll.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities!
    Cheers,
    Pedro D.

  • My iphone has been frozen since yesterday. How do I fix it?

My iphone has been frozen since yesterday. I've tried turning it on and off. It just stays at the screen with the apple logo on it. Can someone tell me how to fix it? I've even tried resetting it, but nothing happens. It just stays at the apple logo.

I'm not sure exactly what you are trying to describe as a "false" tone. Could you try and explain a little better?

IM IN TROUBLE! Phone has been restored, lost everything - forgotten Apple ID and Password!!! HELP

As for forgetting your Apple ID, head to If you forgot your Apple ID password - Apple Support  and follow those instructions.
As for those things you lost, well that's your own fault for not syncing to iCloud or your computer. You can re download most previously downloaded items once you log into your Apple account in iTunes or the AppStore.

my  ipad i have been restore it yesterday my computer shut down in the middel now my ipad2 stuck in recovery mode and cant be detect by itunes and it is jaikbroken ?

Try these steps. If it doesn't work the first time, try a second time.
Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off. (If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off, release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.)
While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on. (Note: If you see the screen that shows you are out of battery, let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some charge, and then start with step 2 again.)
Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears you can release the Home button
If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert: "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode..."
Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
    Hope this helps!

Water damage isn't covered by warranty, but you could always purchase a refurbished device from Apple.

  • My phone has been conected to a dock, and I cant find the dock, and i cant disconnect it, what to do?

So, all of a suddent, my phone has been connected to a dock, that I cant locate, and I cant disconnect it from the dock either. Can someone please help me?

This makes no sense at all. If the phone is connected to a dock, the dock is PHYSICALLY ATTACHED to the phone.
If you're getting a message that this accessory does not support charging, or something to that effect, clean the dock connector on the phone with a dry toothbrush. You've got grit in the connector causing a short.

  • My phone has been restored to default

When attempting to download music from iTunes onto phone, my phone was wiped clean of photos and numbers.  Any idea how to restore if phone has never been backed up?

The video needs to be converted into the correct resolution and framerate otherwise it won't play.
Try QCIF resolution and 15 fps first. Use a bitrate of 350 kbps or so. Ensure the codec is h263 or MPEG-4 but not H264.
Once that works, then try H264 codec, same resolution but check that it's h264 baseline profile. Then if it works you can try QVGA resolution.
Try ANYVIDEOCONVERTER see if that works better.
640K Should be enough for everybody

  • Why is my iphone 4 suddenly not working after being forced to "restore to iTunes" and automatic update to iOs7. Phone has been restored, reset and recovered. Will not activate to server. I need a new phone Apple!!

I heard about all the problems with the new iOs 7 update but also heard Apple would force me to do it. I tried to update but didn't have enough space. Had to delete ALOT of my apps and still not enough space. Phone was working perfectly fine and message pops up that "I will not have any service until I restore to iTunes. I plug into laptop to restore and it forces me to update to iOs7. Takes 3 hours. It updates but phone doesn't restore. Have tried all the troubleshooting tips:reset to factory settings, recover etc. Got a new SIM card because it said I don't have one but I do. Apple support wouldn't help me because I was out of warranty, and said I would have to pay. Went to the Apple store and they couldn't fix it and said "it's a hardware issue" that will cost me $170.00+.  I FIRMLY BELIEVE THAT THE NEW iO7 FRIED MY PHONE'S HARDWARE. The phone is on the HELLO stage and keeps searching but will not activate to server- it's temporarily unavailable. Have tried multiple times.I have a 3 year contract with Rogers and the phone is less than 2 years old. Apple needs to take responsibility for crashing my phone. I NEED A FREE NEW PHONE!!!

Restore it to factory settings, then set it up from your back up. Did this last year when I got my new iPod, and it worked. I have no idea why syncing OTA can sometimes glitch, but hopefully this will help.

  • Trying to update to 2.0.2 iTunes wont recognise phone has been restored

I decided to take the risk and update to 2.0.2 the day before yesterday and it stopped half way with an error. My phone was then stuck on the connect to itunes screen with iTunes refusing to recognise the phone.
I did a DFU restore as thats the only thing left to try and after 6 hours and after appearing like it had totally crashed on the iphone it is restored and the iphone appears to be both updated to 2.0.2 and everythings on there including all my settings...
The problem is when I plug it into iTunes it asks me if I want to set it up as a new phone or restore it from the backup (which is now dated after the restore was finished)..
Ive gone through this now 3 times and no matter what it just keep going back to that screen as if it never restored the phone. How do I get itunes to recognise the phone and let me put my songs, etc. back on?
After having been plagued with problems with apps crashing and having my phone brick itself daily I'm really not getting a good impression of the new phone and I personally don't recommend you buy one if your thinking about it:

    I'm in the same boat.
my 3G iPhone is ******* me off too.
It began when I couldn't update the photos due to an error message that would appear when I attempted to sync. So I decided to restore the phone to factory settings, thinking that would fix the problem. Nope. Now my phone is even worse. After restoring, the phone (in iTunes) goes straight to the "Set Up Your iPhone" screen. I've restored it three times, and can't get past this screen in iTunes. This means no music, media, or apps can be added to my phone. what a pain in the ***.
I'm going to try setting it up as a new phone, and if that doesn't work, I guess my next stop is the Apple store.

  • HT201269 Phone has been restoring for 2 months - please help!

I have been trying to update a new device from iCloud for the last 2 months but the update never completes. The phone is still said to be 'restoring' itself, and until this is done it won't let me update the software or anything. Please help!

Turn your phone off and connect your cable to the computer, but not the device just yet. Start up iTunes. Now, hold down the home button on your phone and plug it in to the cable - don't let go of the button until iTunes tells you it's detected a phone in recovery mode. Now you can restore to factory settings.
