My photos seem to be deleted when I updated the software, but a photo still show up when a person calls. How can I restore my photos?
I updated mine and my parents iPhones. My photos stayed, but my parents photos seem to be deleted, yet when they receive a call the photo id for that person still shows up. How can I recover these photos?
You need to restore from your back up.

And that's exactly the problem, because everyone should have their own account for iCloud. You can share an Apple ID for iTunes & App Store purchases, but you shouldn't do that for iCloud (Mail, Calendar, Contacts etc. ... ...and Photos). The problem of using the same account together could mean that only your dad's photos were stored.

I have the iPhone 4. and when I updated the software to iOS6 My notifications don't make a sound anymore, the only sound that I get are text messages, or Email. I checked to see if the other apps were muted and they weren't. How do I fix this
You cannot update iPhone 4 to IOS 8.1.2, the highest you can update is IOS 7.1.2.

You can import the photos and videos from the camera roll on the iPhone 4s with your computer followed by transferring the imported photos and videos from your computer to the iPhone 5s via the iTunes sync/transfer process.

Photos and videos in the iPhone's camera roll or included with the iPhone's backup. You can update the backup for your iPhone 4s if not already updated followed by transferring the backup for your for 4S to the iPhone 5s. This will include all data included with the backup for the for 4S. -

No iPhone records voicemail messages. Visual voicemail is simply an interface to the carriers voicemail servers.
Contact the carrier to troubleshoot the issue with their voicemail. -
Problem...when i updated the software
so my daughter Riley, her ipod always said "riley's ipod", and my other daughters said "maddi's ipod". when I updated the software on rileys ipod, somehow when it "restored" it now says "maddi's ipod" and everything is identical to Maddi's ipod. all Ry's pics are gone, its as if it never existed. If the device has been used as designed, the pics and via taken with the device would have regularly been copied off to a computer.
The first step in the update process via iTunes on the computer is a backup.
Restore the device from the most recent backup.
If data is lost, then it is merely the fault of the user for not backing up the device or saving their data regularly.
Once the device is in recovery mode, the ONLY option is to restore. -
When I upgraded the software on my ipod touch4, many podcasts were deleted from itunes. Of course, when I synced the ipod, they were deleted from the ipod as well. Apparently the current version of itunes will not let me go back to these earlier episodes (just a few months), in a podcast that I have been subscribed to, and re-download them. Is there a way to do that? and, how can I prevent this from happening again?
Hey! I had the same problem you did just today when I was trying to get my second iPhone to sync. What you need to do with music or anything extra that you doing you have to creat a second playlist or picture or anything that you would like to use, so that you can add to the second device that you are going to be using. I am not sure if that will help but it helped me out a lot!! Good luck!

How can I retrieve my photos if my iPad was scrubbed to correct a sign-on problem? The "genius" at the Apple Store suggested I erase my back up as well as my iPad apps to avoid a repeat of the problem. He DID NOT tell me all of my photos would be erased along with the apps I'd downloaded!
Help, please!If you didn't have the photos stored somewhere else, then they are gone. A 'backup' is not and should never be considered long term storage. Photos should be extracted to a computer on a regular basis as you would with any other digital camera, and the computer should be backed up as well.

I lost all of my iPad apps when I updated the software.
I just updated the software on my iPad and all of my apps are now gone. I checked my purchased apps on the iTunes store and the only app on there is facebook, but I had plenty of other apps as well, some of which I paid for. When I clicked update it said backing up iPad, so I dont know why they are missing.

Yes, it was done with the update, but at this point, iTunes has not yet restored the apps. Contact iTunes Support, tell them all of your Apple IDs, and see if they can see your purchase history. Contact them at http://apple.com/support/itunes/contact/
