iam new to the Enterprise Portal. i would to learn about EP and EPC usage types..iam trying for the documents to learn.but i cant able to get the correct material to learn even i tried in help.sap.com/nw2004s. but i didnt get a proper document to learn.will any one help for my Enterprise Portal learning.
my company is implemented Ep,bi,di and epc..i would like to learn Ep..

Question regarding implementation of Portal Service

I want to create a portal service that calls our R/3 system and comes back with customer master data. For that I have to hand over the userid to the portal service.
The Interface looks like that:

My question is now how I can use the String userid in the init method? How can I hand over the userid to the init method so that I can use it?

Do I need Enterprise Portal if we are implementing NWBC

I have a questions in regards to Enterprise Portal and NWBC. We are implementing SAP BW and the BOBJ ( Enterprise, Crystal Reports, Web Intelligence, Xcelsius and Explorer), do i need both Enterprise Portal and NWBC?
Can I just use NWBC to access all the BOBJ reports? or do i need portal and run NWBC ontop of it?
Any help would be great

I am asking when we implement BW and all the BOBJ reports are created can we access and publish everything through NWBC? Or do i need portal as well as NWBC?
Also, if we decide to use BEx Analyzer, will this be able to published through NWBC?

In the intresting document I read that for the deployement the version number mentionned in the MANIFEST.MF is very important in a clustered evironment.

Using the HTML SAP GUI inside the Enterprise Portal?

Hello everyone
In our company we plan to set up the SAP Enterprise Portal (NetWeaver 7.0). The first application we want to provide inside the portal is the SAP GUI that connects to our SAP ERP 2005 system via single sign on. Therefor two different approaches exist:
1: Using the standard SAP GUI inside a portal iView. In this case every client pc needs the SAP GUI installed.
2: Using the HTML SAP GUI. In this case we have to set up the integrated ITS in our SAP ERP system.
Now I have some questions about the second approach. Is the functionality of the HTML GUI equal to the functionality of the standard GUI? If not, what are the restrictions? How high is the additional load on the network and SAP ERP system caused by the HTML GUI? Would you recommend this approach for a system with more than thousand SAP users?

At least if you consider using webgui, you should test the transactions properly as there are some issues for example with scandinavian characters and lines visible in lists of search helps.
Also you might want to consider the limitations of the screen resolutions and space which the portal framwork already takes from the gui. This of course is a topic for both HTML/SAP GUI's.

Upgradng the enterprise portal from non HA to HA

Dear Experts,
We have Enterprise portal 7.01 on windows 2003 with db2 9.1. and 1 dialog instance. presently it is not in HA. We want to change this to HA using MSCS.
Can any body share some knowledge on this. How to change the existing system.

I must want to correct this question as
" Migrating the enterprise portal from non HA to HA".
The only option i can see is reinstallation or i mean to say system copy to new HA system.
Yoy have to plan your connectivity issues in case you are going to change hostname,IP etc.
Steps:
1) Install Fresh HA EP system
2) Take export from source EP system and DB backup
3) Perform system copy steps on new system
4) In case host name is changed , inform the respective interfac eowners.

SAP CRM 7.0 and Enterprise Portal

Dear SAP Gurus ,
I have question about the New CRM WEB UI and integration to SAP Enterprise Portal .
We have been using the SAP Enterprise portal for accesing the SAP CRM functionalities before (eg create Opporutnites and Sales Order ). But with the New SAP version(7.0 and 2007 ) its possible to have its own portal.
Now the question is it possible to integrate the NEW SAP WEB UI into the existing portal ? Eg: If we want to have link in Enterprise portal with the Sales Order create functionalyt direlty without going into the stand alone CRM WEB UI . Would it be possible to directly call the Sales order service WEB UI in enterprise portal . Right now what we see is that the NEW CRM WEB UI is stand alone and for these type of fuctionalites the user need to login to the NEW web ui and then go to the create sales order screen .
Is it possible to directly embed the new UI components in the existing SAP enterprise portal ?

Ankur,
Once you have correctly integrated to Portal following the SAP Note, you will no longer see the CRM Navigation. They will be Portal Navigation. If you have read and understood the note, it will be clear. On an overview, let me explain the steps involved.
1. You create a CRM role (based on some job role) say "Sales Rep" and have configured the CRM Web UI for all the navigation and applications. Like Account maintenance, Opportunities, Sales order create etc. etc.
2. Following the note and running a CRM transaction, you will now "Export" this CRM role to an external file. This file is very similar to a "business package". All the portal roles, pages, iVeiws etc. get created.
3. You will now "Import" this into your portal. Again follow the notes to know the loaction.
4. In the portal, you will assign this "portal role" to your users.
When these users log on to portal, they will see Portal Navigation (not the CRM navigation). So, the main point lies in defining the CRM role and get it working.

Data of customize BSP in Enterprise Portal is not displayed

Dear All,
I stuck on to find out the solution, in order to display FAQ list in BSP Enterprise Portal by using customer id to logon to Enterprise Portal, need your guide.
Let me explain:
It is customize/own develop BSP application, which is search FAQ (maintain in trxn: crmd_iia_faq) based on product. This is done by calling standard FAQ FM in BSP code, pass in product GUID to retrieve list of FAQs, and display FAQs list in the BSP page. Also, from the FAQ details, call standard Problem and Solution FM to get the details of Problems and Solutions, and then display Problems and Solution in another BSP page.
In the other words, this custom BSP application display data which is maintain in transaction code: COMMPR01, CRMD_IIA_FAQ, and IS01.
Setup in portal to display this iview/BSP application is done, because I manage to access the main BSP page in portal after logon with customer ID.
Difference result:
1.     Run BSP standalone in CRM:
When I execute/run/test this bsp application standalone in se80 after logon to sapgui by using customer id, bsp data is displayed, which is working fine.
2.     When I access/run this bsp through portal after logon portal with customer id, bsp data is not displayed, which is not working correctly.
Things that I had tried:
1.     customer user profile:
     Tried assign different profiles of customer id, my problem is not solved. I even add SAP_ALL profile to customer ID.
[Result] no BSP data is displayed.
2.     customer user role:
     standard role, SAP_PCC_CHANNELMANAGER (assign standard role to customer ID):
a.     Go to trxn code: CRMC_BLUEPRINT_C -> layout of UI (PCUI) -> Look for standard role in assignment of crm object method to role -> get a standard role which is relate to problem and solution: SAP_PCC_CHANNELMANAGER.
b.     Go to trxn code: CRMC_BLUEPRINT_C -> layout of UI (PCUI) -> Navigation (URL generation) -> assign portal role to single role -> SAP_PCC_CHANNELMANAGER is assigned to portal role: com.sap.pct.crm.channelmanager.
c.     Go to trxn code: SU01 -> add role, SAP_PCC_CHANNELMANAGER into customer ID.
d.     run the portal and access BSP application
[Result] no BSP data is displayed.
     Create new role, ZSAP_PCC_CHANNELMANAGER:
a.     go to trxn code: PFCG -> copy standard role, SAP_PCC_CHANNELMANAGER to customize role -> access authorization tab -> look for authorization for BSP applications -> change Application Scenario and View for UI display to *.
b.     Go to trxn code: CRMC_BLUEPRINT_C -> layout of UI (PCUI) -> Application/Layout -> add new entry to View, view named as Z_ESERVICE.
c.     Go to trxn code: CRMC_BLUEPRINT_C -> layout of UI (PCUI) -> add new entries into assignment of crm object method to role (copy SAP_PCC_CHANNELMANAGER).

e.     Go to trxn code: SU01 -> add role, ZSAP_PCC_CHANNELMANAGER to customer ID.
e.     run the portal and access BSP application
[Result] no BSP data is displayed.
     Maintain existing customize role, which is used to display Activity:
a.     Go to trxn code: CRMC_BLUEPRINT_C -> layout of UI (PCUI) -> Navigation (URL generation) -> assign portal role to single role, I check the configuration has done in CRM to assign/map this BSP role to portal role.
b.     go to trxn code: PFCG -> open existing customize role -> access Authorization tab -> click on "change authorization" button -> search existing Application scenario -> add '' inside (also try with certain standard scenario which is relate to product, FAQ, solution, problem) -> search existing view for UI display -> add "".
a.     run the portal and access BSP application
[Result] no BSP data is displayed.
Questions:
1.     Is my problem related to role setup of customer ID? If yes, can guide me how to create authorization, which is related to product, FAQ, problem, and solution, to customer ID?
2.     Is it possible that my problem cause by missing/wrong portal role setup or wrong mapping between CRM role to Portal Role? If yes, can guide me how to check authorization of customer ID in portal, which is related to product, FAQ, problem, and solution?
3.     Any other reason that cause this problem?

If you know the BSP application name, then you can check this on /SE80 and get the bsp component details.

Very Urgent! SAP Access via HCM Reports in Enterprise Portal 6.0

Hi SAP Experts,
it is very urgent.
When our Users execute Reports via HCM Reports in Enterprise Portal 6.0 and exit them via the Menu Button (Menu->List->Exit) in the Report result they can access SAP Backend via Easy Access.
My Question: Could we find out which Users and at what time they had accessed the SAP Backend via this gap?

Subject : During the Post Installation task of Enterprise Portal such as Run Configuration Wizard u201CNWA_01u2026..u201D to u201CNWA_07u2026..u201D for portal system. Run u201CInitial setup of functional unit Development Infrastructure (DI all-in-one)u201D in development portal.
Problem : Can anyone guide me how we are doing ( executing ) task i.e.Run u201CInitial setup of functional unit Development Infrastructure (DI all-in-one)u201D in development portal.What this is step is doing as well as what all the prerequisites for this step.
Work Area : Dev portal with Java stack only.( SP Level is 17)
Please guide me on this step as well as all Configuration Wizard steps( NWA_01 to NWA_07) so that I can finish with the post installation of portal.

Getting the Username and password Of Enterprise Portal in WebDynPro

Hi Friends,
          I have developed one webdynpro application to read the excel sheet from KM Repository. i have used URL to open the connection to that excel file and to get the Inputstream.
          While opening the connection to the excel, I've hardcoded the username and password. I need to get the username and password of the user who login into the Enterprise portal and runs that application. then i need to pass that username and password along with URL of the Excel sheet.
          Could you people find the solution and replied to me. I am waiting for your bright answer.
