My Safari/Email/Messages are jumpy

I just removed some malware from my iMac (mid 2010; 3.2 GHz Intel i3; 12GB; OS X 10.9.4 w/ Safari 7.0.6) restarted the computer, emptied the trash.  Now my Safari, Email, Message, Finder, Calendar, & Notes screens are jumpy and not loading in the smooth way they usually do.  Could I have inadvertently deleted something that makes them run smoothly?  My Google Chrome browser is not jumpy like that.  iTunes, Evernote, Omnifocus are not jumpy.
*Also just noticed that my Maps will not load a map.
Anyone have any ideas??

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, or by corruption of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and  Wi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Since 10.5.6 upgrade, email messages are garbled text

    Hi,
This problem seems to have started with the latest upgrade. My email messages are coming in with garbled text. This happens in my Yahoo account where I will go to the mail website and the text there will be fine. It's only in the mail program.
    Thanks in advance,
    Pete.

    Hi,
    I have the same issue.
Although the mails seems to have been downloaded correctly parts of the parts of the message mime information is displayed as part of the mail body.
The only thing that helps is to rebuild the index of the specific mailbox (inbox in my case).
BTW: Mail of iPhone OS does NOT have this problem. Generally it handles mails MUCH better than the real OS X. Strange, isn't it.

After downloading IOS 8.0.2 on my iPhone 5, my email messages are not coming through automatically. Before, my email messages would come through automatically and my iPhone would alert me each time an emial message was recevied.   I now have to open my mail in-box and wait for my email messages to download.  Do I need to reset or change my mail settings?  This issue is delaying my abiliy to receive and respond to email messages in a timely manner.
    Please Help.

Hi Chris.  Thanks, for the suggestions re: my email issues.  They were helpful and yes I did check all items you referenced.  I even contacted Apple support and spent about 40 minutes on phone checking all settings.  However, after all these efforts, my mail and calendar issues were not resolved.  Apple Support finally recommended deleting the mail account and then reloading it - and it worked!  I am now receiving my emails and calendar appts. in real time again.
Just wanted to share this in case anyone elest has a similar problem with mail/calendar after downloaing i.O.S. 8.1 onto iPhone 5.
    Thanks, again.

  • Your Emitac Mobile Solutions LLC email service is deactivated, Email messages are no longer being sent to your Blackberry device

    Hi

And since then, i havent being able to set up more than one email and i subscribed for 4.
I have rebooted\,, sent service books and hard set the phone so many times.
    What should i do?
    Thank you

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
From your post, I cannot quite tell if you did all of this, in exactly this way. Hence, with a strong carrier network signal (e.g., not merely WiFi), I suggest the following steps, in order, even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
    1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app
    2) Delete and Resend Service Books
KB05000Delete the service book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account from the BlackBerry smartphone
If you have no CMIME entry, then skip the deletion
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.
    3) Reboot
With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes.
See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you! If not, then you should try deleting and re-adding your configurations for the affected email accounts. Otherwise, you should contact your mobile service provider for formal support.
    Good luck!

  • Incoming email message area blank

On my leopard machine I have one person who sends me email regularly and the message area of the email is blank even tho I know she has sent a message. If I forward that email to myself and download it on my laptop with OSX 10.4.11, the message shows up in the email just fine. She has sent me messages at all of my addresses with the same result. They are all blank on the Leopard machine and show up on the tiger machine. She has changed her font , it's size and it's color and we still have the same result. She is sending from a pc on an AOL account. However, I have other people who send me email from AOL accounts on pc's and I can see them with now problem.
Does anyone have any idea what might be preventing her messages from showing up on Leopard mail?
    Thanks

Thank you for your suggestion. The page on blank email was informative but unfortunately doesn't apply in my case. The email I get from just one person that is blank on my Mac running Leopard is NOT blank when viewed on my mac running Tiger. The text is in the message but is not visible on the Leopard mail program.
But I do appreciate your link.

  • Email messages are jumbled out of chronological ordr

When looking at my current new email messages on the email list, as I open one and go back to the original  list...I cannot easily find the one that I just looked at because it has been placed way down in the abyss of old emails. All messages are out of chronological order. Help fix this. I have put up with this for 2 months. I only have comcast email account, not the tv service of.  AC

Take a look at this thread I just posted in-------------------

  • All email messages are marked as read with imap account automatically.

I have a imap account pointing to an exchange 2007 server. The messages are being marked as read automatically. I removed any settings on a computer accessing the same account with outlook, that might be causing this.

Let me clarify what I said across all the responses in this topic. If you are operating a PC with say Outlook Express or Windows Mail, and a Mac with Mail, and furthermore if both are able to download a message from a POP server, and on both computers it is marked as Unread, then reading the message on one of the computers will not cause it to then be marked as Read on the other, operating in POP.
But if the server makes the assumption that the first computer to download a message from it means that it is also then Read, then of course taking away one of the computers will alter things. This is what I said in:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=10506769#10506769
If you can disprove this, then lay out your facts in detail, but don't mix looking at the server with Firefox on one computer, and Mail on still another. Firefox is not an email client, but a browser. Using Thunderbird on the PC, and Mail on the Mac would be an equivalent test.

  • Email messages are not being downloaded on Iphone

Please help!  Re iPhone, email messages, I had to change my PW on Yahoo.com, "Other", my email messages cannot
be downloaded.  I receive "this message has not been downloaded from the server".  Outgoing mail server:  smtp.mail.yahoo.com,
SSL ON;  Incoming mail server:  imap.mail.yahoo.com, server port 465.

While Yahoo has had their problems when it comes to their mail, I suggest removing the account from the phone, reset the phone, add the account back on and see if that works.

  • My email messages are not loading. I have not changed any settings. I can still send messages but cannot receive them

As of 5:30 pm yesterday my emails stopped coming in. When I open the account it shows I have 23 messages but nothing loads. I can still send messages and my internet connection is strong. How can I fix this?

  • Email messages are incomplete

I use the email program on my playbook, and every now and then the messages only download partially.  I'll get a few words and that's it.  Refreshing doesn't help, nor does restarting the email program or restarting the playbook.  Any suggestions?  Thank you.

    Hey Choxie,
Welcome to the BlackBerry® Support Community Forums.
What type of email account do you have setup on your BlackBerry PlayBook? And to clarify, you are only receiving parts of the body of the message?
    Thanks.

  • Email messages are rejected by the return path

    Hello all,
Am new to this forum, am hoping someone can restore my faith in blackberry mail. I keep getting rejections on replying and on originating mail to another blackberry, due to our method of operating via an exchange server to another external mail server, we get many rejections. I have tried SPF records on both mail servers to no avail - can anyone suggest a work around?
    The rejection relates to this:
    Status: 5.5.0
Diagnostic-Code: smtp;550-SPF: 95.177.84.190 is not allowed to send mail from
    550 srs.bis.eu.blackberry.com
Am I right in thinking that this is the blackberry server failing to relay the message?
    Thanks in anticipation

My downloaded Webmail will not send to most email addresses.  I can receive emails, but sending is an issue.  Is it 'Mail''s problem or my server's?  Any suggestions for a remedy?
If you can send to some email addresses then there is nothing wrong with your outgoing (SMTP) settings. You should tell us the exact and complete error message you receive when you can not send. I suspect you are not typing in the recipient's email address correctly for those emails that can not send.

  • Email messages are missing with Maverick

Since I upgraded to Maverick, old email mesages that I was saving in my inbox are missing.  The headers are all there... it looks like the message should be there but when you click on the email, the message is missing.  Help!

I had the same issue. I sent myself an email from my iPhone. Then went into my sent folder and that seemed to fix the issue.

  • Pasted images in an email message are changed

I have realized that randomically, during an email editing, if I past an image it changes without any my direct action.
The new image is always the same one, a pie chart illustrating bouncing percentages on websites.
No matter what image I'm inserting in my email, if it goes, the image is replaced with that pie chart. For clarity, it happens only to images pasted from clipboard into the body email text, not for attachments.
Updating Tunderbird or running various anti-virus programs did not resolve and the only think I can do is to check that the image is not changed before to press the send button.
    I'm with Win 7 and Tunderbird 31.3.0
    Any idea or advice?
    thanks a lot,
    Luigi

I think MS Outlook offers more features than most people need and use, as does Word, etc., and your wife's somewhat limited use is probably pretty common. Also, I don't think that Outlook for Mac is the same program that Windows users get as it is constrained for Mac by the OS.
On my Windows machine, I admit to using only a few features that are useful to me, but I've come to appreciate Outlook's versatility and expect those functions in Mail. I especially like the Outlook calendar and the way it is integrated with the email, and the way attachments are handled. I don't like the separateness of Mail, Calendar, and Contacts. They don't even look like they go together. As a user of both platforms, I find Apple apps to be fairly rudimentary, compared to Windows programs. One's satisfaction depends on expectations from experience, or lack thereof, I think.
I'm not a fan of either platform, by the way. They both have good points and bad. I came to Apple because I like my iPhone and iPad, and I wanted better integration among devices. Also, I really like the display on my 27" desktop. I do think that Windows is more powerful and flexible, while Apple often seems to choose form over function, which is too bad. Apple can change that, though, and it should to meet the broader expectations of users who's experience is not limited to the feline OSs.
What I want and expect is customization in a feature rich OS, and apps that allow me to pick and choose among functions that I find useful and necessary, and not be limited to what a developer only thinks I need. Although there are things I really like about my Apple purchases, I think Apple has a way to go yet. But it's understandable why you disagree.

  • My the contents ipad email messages are being overwritten by subsequent email messages

I've got a popd email account which I access through a 4th gen IPAD, which was running 8.11.  The contents of two  messages (which had a lot of jpgs attached) was overwritten by a different email which arrived later in the day.  So the subject line is from the original email but the content is from an email received a couple of hours later.  The newer email is also still there with it's own content and subject.

Go to Settings>Messages>Send and Receive and your number should be there. Remove the checkmark for the Apple ID email address.

  • The letters in a new email message are in two different colours. I have a screen shot to show the problem

When I type a new email the letters show in two different colours as below
bdhijklmnpqru are in a purple colour and all other letters are in black
    Thanks

Thanks. Too many threads, I got confused. I found this information in an older article, so I'm not sure it is completely current, but you could give it a try to see whether it helps.
To try disabling Thunderbird's use of hardware acceleration, you can use the "Config Editor" to switch two preferences.
To open the Config Editor, see: [[Config Editor]]
    (1) In the search box that appears above the list, type or paste '''layers''' and pause while Thunderbird filters. Then double-click '''layers.acceleration.disabled''' to switch it from false to true.
    (2) In the search box that appears above the list, type or paste '''gfx''' and pause while Thunderbird filters. Then double-click '''gfx.direct2d.disabled''' to switch it from false to true.
You might not need both of these.
